First, there was Menace! Now, Psygnosis presents ... a DMA designed game ... Blooood Moneyyyy
I mixed the ingame music after recording in the movie to get both "sound FX and ingame music". Because, his feature isn't possible to choose in the options menu.
I hope you like it... Letz get greedy :-) -

Nice vid. I was the music author on this game and it's really good to see it again after all these years!
cool
I know you posted this 9 years ago so hopefully you still see this reply - thank you for the soundtrack to my childhood! I used to play this game every day as a small kid just for the music, and hearing it again now is suuuuuuch a blast. Unforgettably good 😊
GREAT MUSIC VERY GREAT MUSIK I PLAY THIS GAME 1989 ON MY AMIGA 500 GREAT GAME AND GREAT SOUNDTRACK👍🇩🇪👍🇩🇪
I want to say thank you. The into is still among of my most favorite into songs for a game. I come back to long play now and then, just to listen to it. Great work and thank you so much!
The main soundtrack is great !
In case you're wondering what happened to Psygnosis and DMA, Psygnosis is now owned by Sony and DMA is now Rockstar North (Yes, as in the guys who bring us GTA!)
I loved the music, saved it to MP3, I still listen to it sometimes. I suck at this game.
The same can be said for the c64 version. Great music, tough as hell.
Play it with the cheats on! Lol
This soundtrack is unforgettable. A musical masterpiece.
cheers :)
Je suis entièrement d’accord
La musique est énorme 👍🏼
Yeahh Yeahh Where Is The Money Hit It Yeahh Yeahh There's A Whole Lightbulb Coming Oh You!!!
(Mhm, definitely a masterpiece 😂)
@@blenderbachcgi I may have exaggerated, no doubt. But it pretty much represents the kind of sample-based songwriting that would be so common at that time. It's creative and comical, maybe not a masterpiece in the classical, virtuoso sense, but for the Amiga scene it's one of the most iconic soundtracks.
@@RonaldoGazel I didn't say it was bad. It is fun, but it's definitely not a masterpiece! :)
When this came out I paid a guy at school $5 to record it to tape and we’d take off from school & play it in the car. Such great days. Never thought I’d get to thank the creator. Thank you.🇦🇺
"The biggest unanswered question is, where is the money" :) I love this game!
One of the best intro songs ever :)
One of the best and maybe the grooviest intro music ever made
not only the intro, even the other tracks rocks
There's like one other track. The same song that loops over and over
@@ReverendSyn yeah... get it? Captain Obvious you are needed at the customer service counter lol 😂🙃🙂
@@Salvavideocrack Definitely a piece of music that fit the time.
I remember playing this hours and hours with two of my childhood friends, which both of them have passed away now unfortunately. This was one of those rare games we could never complete. Watching this gives some kind of closure for me. Thanks for the upload.
Makes us feel very old eh?
Used to do the same.
One of the hardest shooters ever created. I admit it. I couldn't beat it without a trainer+++.
the 1st level kills me now. lol
but the sound was is greatest someone play the intro in clubs in this time.
The best period of shoot em up graphics ever created! I Never got past the level with the submarine though. Remember the review in Amiga Format and then when playing it with best friend.
I used to play this intro to all my mates to make them sick they didn't have an Amiga, I know, sad, but hey, they are all married and happy now, I'm still trolling YT for the memories, so I guess I'm sad now! lol x
I loved this game. I had an Amiga 1000 in the 80's. Thank you!!
28yrs later and still every mention of "blood money" on the news triggers my brain to go : "the biggest question is; where is the money?".... and that is now followed by "where's my money!" sample/track by TC. Brains are funny things.
heh
I loved this game as a kid, my first computer was an Atari ST, I was 5 years old at the time! It was too hard for me at the time, it often ended up with me watching Dad playing it instead!
Thanks for posting Blood Money! Have it for Amiga 2000, but a tough as nails game that isn't much fun as a result of getting blasted every few minutes. Haven't played it in many years, but only got a few stages in. Awesome music and Graphics!
I didn't play the game much, but listened to that intro every single day lol
If anyone is watching this in 2023, what brought you to this video?
Was just talking old computers with my dad and it came up. I played this game so much in my early teens, viva la 80’s, and the music.. so cool to see this on here. Thank you for posting this forever ago. Glad it’s still up!
Randomly popped into my mind today. I remember seeing it at a games store being showcased and I stood open mouthed watching people playing.
@@keithbeef I was a bit of a local hero at the computer shop when this dropped
I’m here in 2024, my 9 year old is playing a game called “space shooter” on his iPad. It’s a ship flying through space shooting at other ships, and I was like omg. I played a game just like this on my dad’s computer when I was your age! The music is taking me back lol
Inspiration
David Jones wrote the game inspired by an arcade game called Mr. Heli. He wrote it at home, in his bedroom, in his spare time. (Moby Games)
I remember some parts of the games source code was released in a magazine as part of a Dave Jones assembly programming series, it may have been from Amiga Format.
@@SerBallister I think it was menace, the unofficial prequel
@@bippym oh yeah I think you're right
The mind is a strange thing. Years after playing this on a random day off it pops into my head and here I am 🤣😂😂
Before I completed it, I always hoped there was a fifth, extra level :(
The ST version was just as cool too.
I recall seeing this in my old Amiga magazines available to order.. Sorry I never got it after watching this awesome footage! Rockstar would be smart in releasing a new HD version for the newer systems..
Hd remakes are an abomination
Old Psygnosis absolutely epic
The second level with the submarine - very R-Type! Psygnosis were great. Shame they were absorbed. Love the old artwork and style of their games.
the music in this game is awesome. So far ahead of it's time
..or exactly of it's time? Seemed to fit very well in with 80's UK culture. Doesn't age well, but I was happy with what I managed for the ingame music considering the limitations I had
Yeah, really far ahead of it's time 🤣
Fond memories of playing this in the lunch hour at Zzap! Towers. Great game.
Freakin great ingame soundtrack !
So I see on the ice planet someone had time to build a snowman?
It feels good to finally see a pro playing this game. Ultrahard. I couldnt do it!
Never completed this game. 3/4 levels was the best i could do
lol i cant do it better at this time.
the first song is still one of the best soundtracks ever in a game
thanks!
@nzo1 if you are really music athor of this game, then I must say t you that this game music kicks ASS. good work guys!
I could listen to the in game music all day long
You made a very good job Ray Norrish.
Greatest soundtrack ever
Cheers!
I remember the opening intro scene really wowed me back then. Was never that keen on the game though, it seemed very repetetive - preferred ProjectX, Uridium II and Apidya.
Lemm the magician. I died thousand deaths in this one, kicked nearly the Amiga off-table in rage. A David Jones masterpiece. My favorite Psygnosis music intros were SOTB and Obliterator, both composed by David Whittaker.
Meister Knökenknecht Yes, and this was composed by me, not Dave Whittaker :)
Dear Mr. Norrish
How may this happen, that you wasn't credited in this or another way? Isn't meant sarcastically.
Meister Knökenknecht I'm not sure if there was an error on the box printing? Definitely says me in the game - for some reason they put it in the high score - you can see it right at the end of this video
Ray Norrish Acknowledged & verified, Mr Norrish. In this case, thank you very much for the good ol´ times Amiga entertainment. There should be a museum for Exceptional Arts Of Computer History.
Your music was the best thing about this game for me... Thanks for the good times listening to your music, Ray... :)
loved this game..... many hours spent playing at age 13
Played this a lot. Along with Battle Squadron, and Shadow of the beast 2 on my cousin's Amiga system back in the early 90s. Blood Moneys was a hard game to beat. Never was able to beat it.
This is without a doubt THE hardest game ever created...so so impressed by this video...you should be fucking president of the world
Not really. Played through it several times when it came out.
It looks far too easy to me, tbh.
@@MrAmi69 You sir are a legend
The music was sooooo annoying after one level! BUT there was an option to turn it off and listen to sound FX only! Most of the players never realized that! :-)
I have been searching the internet for the better part of a day, trying to remember what this game was called. Finally figured it out and came straight here to watch... THANK YOU! :) I loved this game so much as a kid. The music that starts up right after the "Insert disc 2" (those were the days!) jolted my memory something crazy. So very happy to see this again after all these years. Nostalgia overload!
Excellent gameplay by Lemm! Two planets plundered was my best accomplishment without trainer, greed was always my downfall. Hated specially those towers that put u in reverse control.
This game was insanely difficult
Great music and graphics but the game was BRUTAL to play! R-Type was a lot more fun. Shame, it had potential but it was too fiddly to make it a compelling shoot em up.
Thanks for posting, this was one of the first Amiga games I had as a kid. Brings back fond memories even if I did suck at it... Kinda funny DMA Design made this and years down the road went on to become rockstar north and do the GTA games.
Now THIS is what a game's BGM ought to sound like!
Ahh blood money ... it was a good game, but did get a bit boring after a while. And that unforgettable sound track.
Back in 89 or early nineties, I held the high score for this game in C+VG magazine. Greetings from Australia!
6th grade coming back in a flash. That would have been 1989. Give or take, that's when I remember playing this game.
wow how have I never seen this game till now! it’s like Fort Apocolpyse on my C64...time to to fire up my miggy now👍
As many games on Amiga, fantastic graphics and musics... destroyed by a flabby "no collision" gameplay. The guys was excellent coders but did not understand the basics of a shootthemup gameplay as Japanese games coders had did years before.
don't understand why there was not such equipment like magnet and it's improvements to attract (giving momentum towards player) all that wasted falling money, also that there's nothing to improve after all mods are bought somehow beats the purpose of the whole 'blood money' game theme, not mentioning the three number counter going from 0 after 1000 - silly
I rocked so hard at this game... but I have go give by bro props... he clocked river raid and 1942... I was a beat em up champ but his shooter skills was unrivaled
The precursor to Lemmings... and ultimately Grand Theft Auto? Yep.
I played this in '93. Remember the clicking of the joystick. Found it hard to control with that stick.
Always liked the intro, far much better than the Atari ST.
This soundtrack slaps
Psygonsis how ever u spell it made such a load of crap only lemmings was original they made endless sloppy platformers with bad controls and only got it right on overated beast this is just another shoot em up
La musique au début, pendant l'introduction, au top, toute l'introduction, génial 👍
I listen to this intro song in my car to this day lol.
There's a few decent remixes of them as well
I loved the intro to this game. Never actually cared for the game itself though. I didn't like the cartoonish graphics.
It used to happen.
Disk one: Intro
Disk Two: Actual Game
Not sure if I miss that part... :D
this was one of the three first games I ever played, together with civilization and populous... thanks for bringing back those memories
The whole packaging of this game together with the music , made you feel you had acquired something special .
That was the general thing with Psygnosis games then. Rather a lot of style over substance.
@@Ray.Norrish Indeed...in retrospect it was a whole lot of nothing . Which seems a bit harsh to state ; for the time it seemed fun .
@nzo1 I was in spanish class in 1993 - 1995 and this music was used in some of the spanish videos. I had a bet with my mate years ago that it was this music. Please tell me it was and settle a near on 20 year bet
Magic :D Played this game to death in 2 player co op. This vid brought back some happy memories of a life less complicated. Thanks for uploading.
Great music
Hi I'm trying to play this game on my Emulator but it keeps getting stuck on the menu
This game was just too hard- i only managed to complete the sub level, thats it. I hated the fact that u couldnt control the progress and it forced you to never stop.
Here is Ray Norrish...?
the intro for this game sold so many AMIGAS!
i love when the music kicks in at 1:45.
so moody and atmospheric.
whereas the first music is just absolutely fucking awful like some kinda gay 80s house music
This game inspired a crippling phobia of crabs and their pointy claws in a chum of mine. A fear i often take advantage of, with hilarious concequences. XD
Very nostalgic! Very tough platformer!
@jci10 Yes, of course. If I was going to make something like that up, I'd take credit for something a lot better :)
Yeah one thing that sucked about this game is the fact that you had to choose between having either music or sounds effects...too bad you couldn't have both!
@nzo1 Thank you for all the wonderful memories. I was just commenting to a co worker about great music in games, and told him about all the good Amiga stuff, namely DMA/Psygnosis. Awesome!
The biggest unanswered question is "Where is the money?"
Who would have thought that the guy who made this game would have gone on to make one of the most recognised games of all time. Lemmings and the GTA series. Genius.
The controls are reversed near the broadcast towers (when you press up, the helicoper goes down for example)
That musix makes me wanna go back in time 💪
Makes me feel real old :)
Because once in a while the music is in my head and I ask myself "WHERE IS THE MONEY?"
That's what I said
This was the game that made me realize I suck at shoot 'em ups....
My father had Blood Money on Atari many years ago.
This game was a bit before the time I had my Amiga. Watching it now, I think Dave Jones may have been in the amusement arcade on Reform Street playing Battle Chopper at some point.
@nzo1
Nice to know that it wasn't just David Whittaker getting all the music work back in the day.
Dunderola...I am the Master..I am the only person who did through the game without any cheats :)
Ray Norrish
Nix da "Ich bin wegen Gronkh hier". Lasst diesem Video die passenden Kommentare, wenigstens einmal in eurem Daumengeilem Leben -.-*
wow that music! :)
@Ingleburt How would I know what music was in a Spanish language video ?
I always found all the psygnosis games hard
Same for me, reminds me the best of my childhood !!
You God! You have no idea the impact of your labour. Thank you!!! xxx
I definitely love the intro, the song is amazing!
What I recall from playing this game, esp. the 'fire' level was how much of a chiz the collision with the backgrounds were...and I did actually complete this game, without cheats. On the day in question I also noticed a bad smell in the 'computer room' caused by a dead hamster that had been mouldering for some (hamster) millennia.
@nzo1 ust thought u may of knew who stole it from u. it was a long shot
this game was so ridiculously hard. never made it past the second level.
Great game and intro. In fact I’m going to play this later instead of the N64 I was planning to dig out! :)
I remember every detail about this game. It was a bitch to finish. Nice job. My friend and I played this game for countless hours. We finished together and by ourselves. Good times.
