It's interesting that you make this particular comment on a video where I use no mods and didn't crash or load a save until the very end where I wanted to land the capsule near KSC.
Jacky Xie in real life they would likely supply you with enough life support to get there and back, NASA doesn't fuck around when it comes to things like that. But in KSP? Pffft... who needs life support anyway? XD
Professor Gutnacht Yes, but in KSP, they only have that small bit of cockpit room. How the devil would you work out in that? You can't enter the fuel tanks and stretch your legs in there, you have to work out while your still sitting. That would really suck in my opinion. But hey, your the first people on Minmus so it's all worth it!
Comparing that to present KSP and remembering how it was playing 0.18.2 and earlier versions. Somehow feels wrong now seeing capsule plummeting like that into the atmosphere. :D
if you only want to escape Kernin orbit then it saves a small amount of fuel. If you want to transfer to almost any other planet then you might be wasting fuel because when you're low down in Kerbin's gravity well you get more energy from the same amount of fuel due to the Oberth effect, so, it is frequently more efficient to do your transfer burn without using the Mun.
I just got to minmus and back at tier 4 with 1 or 2 from tier 5. I need help with interplanetary burns. I just don't get launch windows. I get most else.
Get Kerbal Alarm Clock, it shows you and makes "alarms" (basically stops time warp) for things like launch windows, which are times where you launch to get on an SOI change from Kerbin to another body. Sorry if I'm incorrect, though.
@@biff9082 I have Kerbal Alarm Clock, and it's VERY helpful. The weird thing is that it often disagrees with the MechJeb maneuver planner when it comes to finding the next transfer window. - I trust the alarm clock more, though.

I felt the same after I finaly managed to get my first Kethane Probe into orbit. You can try and guess how those first 8 trials ended in whilst reentering the atmosphere.
Try to go to Minmus first. It's easier :) Scott even made an tutorial for that. If you follow it carefully, you should be fine. I did the same thing and I got to Minmus and the Mun and back succesfully. Good luck!
Click on your Space hanger; load the Orbiter. Then click Launch. To get into oribit simply do as follows: Launch, at 2000 Meters angle 'slightly', at 6000 Meters angle a bit more, and at 15 tilt it even more over (30* at most), Then 19-21km tilt it at 45* angle. Once you reach 36km make sure that the yellow point (this represents the spacecraft's carried momentum) is in line or just above the point where the blue and orange meet. This should get you into Orbit at least.
I lost my kerbal when i tried to reach the outer planets. He is now on a LONG elliptical orbit extending outside of the solar system, and a 70 year orbit with the sun. It is also 45 degrees off from the orbital plane of the planets. He also has no fuel at all. Yeah... poor guy is lost forever. I got low on fuel and tried to salvage it, so I tried a slingshot maneuver to get home, and I MIGHT have walked away from the pc and forgot to return... and caused that to happen.
Made it to Eeloo! I used your Satellite design (with 2 RTGs for power) without the lander and made it in 693:01:58. Thanks Scott! Well, thanks for the design. I suck at designing. Amazing video by the way.

Love it man, so awesome.
Scott thanks for all the kerbal vids the have helped me out a ton. I recently did a round the world flight on a tank of fuel with a modified albatross.
This sort of reminds me of a build I did a few years ago. I built a 2 piece rocket, a large, re-usable ion/nuclear main craft with an insane delta-V, but low TWR, and a disposable but cheap lander that could land and take off from any planet/body in the solar system except for Eve.
I got this program in beta when it was basically a ballistics simulation and Kerbal killing machine :-) No Mun, no planets, no planes. It was such a great investment to see this game grow so much. I feel like it's training future astronauts!
A true unicum in the universe of kerbal space program, scott was able to endure six years of voyage without ever failing. All hail the mighty Master of KSP!
I know exactly how you feel. I felt so proud too after managing a very close encounter with Duna (no orbit), after which I realized that I was trying to get there with a lander that I haven't managed to land safely anywhere yet.
It takes ages to learn how to do stuff properly in this game, but It's so rewarding once you start getting things done. I remember when I could barely get into orbit. :D
I just sent an entire space station with one docked ship and ten satellites to Duna (single trip), and I have to say, it was way more complicated than getting to Eeloo. Depends on the mass you want to move I guess.
Just remembering the times when you could do a re-entry at 4km/s.
ahhhhh

I don't know where you went to college but my 1st degree in Physics and Astronomy was a 4 years honours degree. And that was only my first degree.
This video was a actually the inspiration for my first decent lander... ah, the good old days. Just popping in to say thanks for the design
Ah, Scott Manley. No matter how old this gets, I’ll never cease to be satisfied by listening to this man play KSP. “Interstellar Quest” was always one of my favorites.
Ahaha, the end of this when he plummets to the planet at 4 km/s. Not gonna work in 1.0 with the new atmosphere and re-entry heat lol
That explains why I didn't see a heat shield in this video.
Geoffry: YAAAY!!!
the other kerbals: OH GOD WHY DID I SIGN UP FOR THIS??
You make it look so easy man!
This is my first ever video I’ve liked in my entire UA-cam journey. Still quality.

Does it still
Scott thanks for all the kerbal vids the have helped me out a ton. I recently did a round the world flight on a tank of fuel with a modified albatross.
I'm just getting into Kerbal, and love your videos. Love how this one went from being an interplanetary mission, to talking about massaging poo...
Once i finished downloading the game, i started watching his tutorial series, and now i already know how to land on moons
I love how you say 'uz' and 'whoat'. Sounds very professional. :D
That's a beautiful picture! The look on Bill's face is wonderful! :)
This sort of reminds me of a build I did a few years ago. I built a 2 piece rocket, a large, re-usable ion/nuclear main craft with an insane delta-V, but low TWR, and a disposable but cheap lander that could land and take off from any planet/body in the solar system except for Eve.
Wow, you managed to make it to Eeloo and back, great job!
I got this program in beta when it was basically a ballistics simulation and Kerbal killing machine :-) No Mun, no planets, no planes. It was such a great investment to see this game grow so much. I feel like it's training future astronauts!
and made an orbit around minmus today, scott, you are amazing.
Scott, you're not pretentious as that other guy says. You are a very intelligent person.
I was eating while you started talking about the poo bags. Thanks for that.
Scott Manley you are the man[ley].
Watching this in 2017 is pretty hilarious. Eeloo! New planet! KSP has come a long way.
Congratulations Scott😄
Landing gear down, optimism is always welcome! I love that catchphrase :)
god, I did not need to know that much about astronaut poop.
It takes ages to learn how to do stuff properly in this game, but It's so rewarding once you start getting things done. I remember when I could barely get into orbit. :D
KSP has come a long way. I remember RCS before it was nerfed. you could get to orbit with attitude thrusters
Man, 5 years ago? so hard to believe it's been that long..
Love that when he speeds up the audio it kind of sounds like music from interstellar.
Specifically around 17:13 when he is taking off from eeloo.
I just sent an entire space station with one docked ship and ten satellites to Duna (single trip), and I have to say, it was way more complicated than getting to Eeloo. Depends on the mass you want to move I guess.
