We need a shorthand term for when a club sacks a manager and hires someone with not just a different tactical approach, but massively conflicting with what the previous manager had done and what the club had recruited for. Several of those mentioned in this video. Palace, swap Vieira for Hodgson. Spurs, swap Poch for Jose, and looking to swap Conte for Poch.
Everton and Man United have been doing it for a decade.
    Needs a shorthand term.

There was also a sense that Poch felt he could do better than Spurs at that time. After all these time right now Daniel levy should understand what he had in Poch and Poch should understand team like Tottenham is the place where his philosophy can translate. Guys What's the difference between a "league team" & a "cup team"? People often say that Pep Guardiola is a league manager & Mourinho is a cup manager. I'm guessing this is because its primarily where their success lies with their teams over an extended period of time even though they can win both.🤔

Mourinho appears adept at building one-off game plans which takes full advantage of his opponents weaknesses and his teams strengths. To a degree rarely if ever seen.
Pep appears to be extremely skilled at establishing and implementing a play style for a team that maximizes their points in the long-run, but doesnt always give his team the best chance in single games against top teams. His style is probably just not very adaptable.

Feels like a lot of the players that were listed as 'poor back-up options' were exactly the sort of players that played regularly under Hodgson, when he finished with only 4 fewer points in his final season than Vieira did last season, in that 'amazing' season Palace had under him.
1 win in 16, 3 games in a row without a shot on target... You can certainly see why they thought it was time to move on from the 'Premier League Legend as a manager' experiment, I think the reaction would be quite different if it were Lampard or Gerrard that was sacked, but in reality it is the same profile of manager who got the job due to his standing as a player and it has not worked.

Quick hypothetical question: How would Conte coach a teal like Arsenal and would they have been even more successful if led by him?

No, Conte is a checkbook, defensive manager. Arsenal like Spurs, can only afford unproven young talents or Man City castaways that want to play under Arteta.

Is Woy the Boy just cheaper than Viera and if he's available why keep employing an expensive and ambitious legend for more relegation dogfights?

Or maybe Paddy V went all Game Of Thrones actor and asked for money for players, and suddenly found himself recast as a 75 year old local boy for season 2

Benfica won't get picked apart because we're much more financially sound. We'll lose one big player for cash probably and Otamendi and Grimaldo are on end of contracts. But I would be quite surprised if we lose 3 players for lots of money.
Also Florentino Luis is Portuguese/Angolan!!!! Not Brazilian 😂😂😂

I said hi to JJ in Soho and he was really nice. Asked him if RDZ would do well at Brighton and he said they might struggle a bit under him. Should've asked for a picture!

Feels like JJ is making less and less sense the longer this podcast series goes. I remember I used to agree with him quite a lot, but now he seems to make random conclusions I don't quite follow.
Pochs team building was brilliant, from an arsenal fan, the problem was the club stopped backing him and stopped replacing players which meant he wasn't able to kick on and the players he had aged out.
The problem was 1000% levy and that's why I was so happy when they sacked poch and started pursuing managers like mourinho and Conte who are the type of manager that win trophies IF given a top quality squad of proven experienced players that exactly matches his system. It was always going to be a disaster working with someone like levy.

The beginning of these new episodes still makes me question the concept of time and space. How do they know, what they are going to talk about. It can't be. Did they secretly invent time travel to make their podcast better?

As a man United fan I find the whole spurs/Conte thing hilarious as loads of people were crying that we didn’t appoint him after Solskjaer! Who’d have thought it would have gone so terribly for him apart from all his previous clubs!

On respect for the Referee: Andre Marriner was sent away from the touchline in an U9's match for being aggressive to the ref. Can't even get the refs on their side! Sunday league refs deserve far more respect that PL refs anyway imo.
