  • This is my biggest ship in space engineers, a fully vanilla survival ready heavy battleship. It uses merge pulse drives as well as a gravity gyro system to retain speed and agility despite its great mass.
    PLANET LANDING CAPABLE
    Keep ship upright, do not pitch or roll in atmosphere. The ship relies on a gravity gyro system which becomes useless on planets. Pitching or rolling will cause the ship to list.

    Me: Barely figuring out how to fit two pieces of armor blocks together.
    The rest of the SE community: I'm going to put a thruster, on a piston, on a subgrid angled 45 degrees and abuse Klang to make my ship fly in atmosphere when it really shouldn't be able to.

      Is that what's happening here? It uses Klang drives for in-atmosphere control?

      @Poanage unfortunately (if we ignore the many other issues with the game engine when gaining rpm), the tick rate means that at best I can have 1 railgun per tick, for a 60 railgun disc (no stacking, only one per unique angle) it will end up being a max rpm of 60. For a larger disc with 120 it will need 2 seconds per rotation, or 30 rpm
      Only small setups such as 16 unique angles can have high rpms lol
      So unfortunately not due to some hard coded limitations womp

    I tried building a orbital lander craft once and it was a pain. Which makes this all the more impressive.

    If space engineers had no limitations, Battleships would truly be battleships like in all sci-fi genre.

      Nah, there's a lot of reasons to not build them. The first being cost. How long would it take to gather that much resources? How much H2 and Uranium does it burn through per flight hour? Few factions can even afford such an expense. And you can't protect 2 mining outposts with 1 battleship. This is why the Yamato and Bismarck turned out to be so problematic.

      @@GMLSX There are many battleships in Star Trek, with owners including the Jem'Hadar, the Humans, the Klingons, the Andorians, the Romulans, etc. Pretty much all of which are far bigger than this ship (because of game limitations).

    Onboard Gymnasium? I think you meant Gym. One is school other one place for workout. Sick build tho, sadly it is too much PCU for any multiplayer server.

      Not going to be easy with the subgrids for sure, you could just creator mode paste it in but the turrets and torpedo launchers you kind of have to figure out

      Brock and his server use mods with quite frankly considerably better weapons
      so, my guess would be that they would win purely thanks to that

    How do you get a heavy armor ship to be 1g compatible? Its comfusing. Is it like having multiple batteries makes more power but instead hydrogen tanks?

      Merge Pulse Drives by Major Jon, it's a clang effect where a script is used to abuse the connector auto-alignment feature to generate thrust

      actually it's possible without bugs, but you need to hide a lot of atmo/hydrogen thrusters beneath your ship

    Hey I'm working on a new fleet killer, hoping to make it like overly powerful in terms of armament and armor but my first prototype is having huge problems with agility, do you mind sharing any tricks you used for this build? In pretty sure the ship I'm working on is slightly larger than the one you showed in the video.

      Yes for any ship over like 150m, gravity drives become insanely powerful. but gravity drives will drop your sim speed when your ship is like 300m+, after that point and if you are using heavy armor, just do like my ship and use major jons merge pulse drives for movement, and turn on grav drives only for turning. no amount of gyros will work nicely for ships this big so may as well give up on gyros. i would also recommend using heavy armour only around areas that need it, and use non-deforming armor blocks in layers like blast door blocks. ofc, for grav drives to work u must have scripts enabled, if you cant use scripts then any large ship will just be sitting ducks and can be somewhat easily killed by small pvp railgun bricks. keep block count as low as you can for fps reasons especially for huge ships, and use as few lights as possible. being agile is not fun when your graphics card starts to melt

      Turn on experimental mode so that scripts can work, and then on the seat on the left of the command chair, turn on gravity gyro system

    That's not a mobile base. It's a whole ass colony. How much uranium and H2 does that beast burn through per minute?

      Not much actually, it uses major jons merge pulse drives, which use basically zero energy

    So how laggy does the server become with this thing on it?

      You can try it on your pc by doing shift F11 and having a look at simspeed. With it's features turned off, it doesn't actually have a big impact.

    Really nice ship, but I'm having a hard time spawning it in on xbox series x. It says "Maximum blocks of specific type limit reached" even on an empty world when trying to spawn it, and PCU is set to 500k

      I think on xbox there is a warhead limit, and the torpedoes on the ship might be exceeding that limit. I hear there is a no build limit mod for xbox you can try, otherwise might have to wait until the weekend for me to upload a non-torpedo version@@xsoulxrenderx5040

      @Poanage Yeah I had to use one of the no build limit worlds to get it to work, but then my friend discovered the beta version of Space Engineers on xbox has a block limit toggle, so we switched to the beta so we could use your ship. And yeah xbox has a warhead limit of 25 sadly.
      We both absolutely LOVE the ship and everything it comes with. If you do upload a torpedo free version, that'd be awesome, but we have found a workaround in the meantime which works for us. Thank you for the help.

    and since when battleship have enought armor to not be capable of stoping farrt from 90yo oldman? i can see from the block decals t least the top part is all light armor..6 layers of light armor are penetrated np by rail so i just need 1-2 salvos to take you out

      hoting the 18 blocks you have reactor or the 18 blocks you have explosives inside or hotting the 20+ blocks of hydrogen tanks ..how hard do you think is
