Michael, is "kinda of" possible to use the classic themes with Plus! on Windows 10 (tested on Win 10 1903) All you have to do is to go to Start> Settings > Personalization > Themes > High Contrast Settings and choose any theme. Then, you can go to Themes app then choose any theme. An Restart may be necessary to refresh the desktop look. Spoiler: It'll look terrible.
A while ago I attempted to install every Plus! pack on Windows XP. I couldn't get 95 Plus! to work either, but I could install 98 Plus! and I actually had the same problems with the shortcuts leading to the wrong programs. These old Plus! packs just seem to be kind of wonky on modern Windows versions for whatever reason...

I have no idea why, but for some reason, mainly in old programs, in Windows 10 it sometimes just uses the Aero Lite theme from Vista and 7. I wonder why...
It's still part of the theme engine, certain programs don't work well with Desktop Composition which is why Windows 10 renders it using the Windows 7 basic theme.
You can enable it either by a AutoHotkey application or just disabling dwm, but it's very hard to do so on new versions of Windows. In Windows 10 1607 and below (8 and 8.1 included) it's easier.
I‘ve tested the theme manager from Windows Me by accident last week and was very surprised how much this old program can nativly change system settings in Windows 10 :D
Watching your videos about old os, software and hardware makes me feel like "oh, those times where so cool". And I just changed the looks of my Win10 to a Win9x one. You know, the best part is a have a copy of Paint from Windows 95 that works fine on Win10 :) If anyone has some of those standard programs from those systems that are working please let me know. It is so much fun to travel back in time with you! :)

My favorite thing about Plus 98 was the Organic Art screen savers. I remember buying that software in June of 1998. Now on Windows 10, it gets confused and "points" to the wrong program, lol. Yeah, that it very strange. You open up Themes and it opens Deluxe CD player and you open up Disk Cleanup and it opens Picture it express. BTW, what you can do also is download PowerISO in Windows 10 and even if you don't have a CD drive attached, the program does let you create a virtual CD or DVD drive and the operating system will actually see it as if it were a physical drive.

Themes were named .thm afair (filenames in 8.3 format)... Theme.exe is placed within the Windows-folder, I do not remember if in system or system32... I use "Plus!98 for Windows 10"...

No, long file name extensions were first supported by Windows 95 when a version of FAT called VFAT was introduced. It’s just not currently used very commonly any more. I distinctly remember the switch when I first installed Windows 95. 8.3 file names were DOS

You should try installing the 95 plus under Win98 compatibility. I know it worked when I installed it on Win98 years ago. Maybe it would work. Also, I think both worked with Windows XP (albeit with some glitches).
I've actually been trying to download windows xp from vmware workstation but it erased all my date from my computer which is this one, and I also tried on my windows 7 laptop that an old dell windows xp professional that got updated to windows which i got fro ebay but it didn't work either.
You are effectively tunneling and unrestricting data through a couple ports or the whole network interface entirely. The anti-virus program should have really picked up the virus when it got to your system though, so that might be more of an issue with your antivirus Software

16 bit programs don't run in 64 bit Windows because Microsoft removed the 16 bit emulator. You can still unzip their contents with 7 Zip or run them in a VM/DosBox

I use the Windows XP Plus! fish tank screen savers on Windows 10 21H2... Windows 95 plus! will give that error because there is 16bit code it.... It's one of those things. If you had Windows 10 32bit, you would be able to run a lot 95 apps...
That impressive, but also show that there's so much unnecessary crap in Windows today, it's really time Microsoft do a good cleaning to slim down the NT kernel.
Honestly I believe what Windows really needs is a total rewrite to get rid of all the old code still present. It would probably make it a lot faster on low end hardware.

I don't see any future for Windows at the moment to be honest, they need to go on a brand new OS or go the macOS route and remove all compatibility with 16 and 32 bits, but I can't see that happening with all the legacy softwares still in use. Although, I'm kinda excited to see what ARM will do for Windows, the Surface Pro X is really impressive, maybe it's the thing that will make Windows a little more lightweight.

They could go the Apple way with Carbon, PowerPC and 32 bits by slowy restricting the APIs, but we are a decade after the last version of 32 bits OS X and a lot of big companies like Adobe and Valve were "surprised" with 10.14, momentum is a powerful force, I really can't see Microsoft having the guts to kill 30 years of momentum, I'm afraid that if they go with the Wine route, it would just make Windows softwares survives one or two decades more, wouldn't really help.

Windows 7 Basic sticks around as a fallback for DWM when a program can't use it or the whole thing's down but the system hasn't crashed yet.

For the game running in 800x600, you could set your desktop capture to auto resize in OBS by right-clicking>transform>fit to screen

To capture that marble game, you need Game Capture in OBS. Also, you should be able to install DirectX 5 to get the golf game working.
