Just got done struggling with leaks on my 1990 3.0 ac system. First the pressure switch and then the condenser was leaking. Come to find out the condenser has the same fittings only from 1990-1993 and the 1994 condenser I got from the junkyard for cheap had the wrong fittings. Finally got the right condenser and got her filled with 10z of r152. System is a bit undercharged but still blows so cold. If you ever have to recharge I would recommend r152. It's more efficient, colder, and works perfectly in systems that can run 134a. Also it's just air duster so if it's leaking out you don't have to feel bad about destroying the environment. It's slightly flammable but not nearly as flammable as propane or anything. Great video! AC systems can be a pain in the ass but once you finally fix em it's so so satisfying.

Thanks for the tip! I hasn't heard that one yet. Good to know.
Also yeah actually 92 to 93 was a big changeover year, a lot changed and isn't compatible. So yeah 92 and older I call early 2nd gen and 93 and later I call late 2nd gen. Also, to make it more confusing, some 92's are early, some late look. Mine is early style.

I wish you could still get a new condenser for these truck, it would be cool to mod this 4runner to accept newer condensers

You can get replacement ones. What are you trying to do by modding it? You have me curious.

@@AgileWoodsman well it seems i cant get new condensers that are stock on this truck so maybe modding it to accept the new ones on the recent 4runners wouldnt be a bad idea. Unless theres a website i dont know about that sells the stock condensers

@Spirit Of Halloween 9 Yeah OEM appears discontinued. Rockauto.com or the local auto parts store is your ticket. I just replaced mine and got it from rockauto. Remember to swap the drier too. Good luck! Drop a comment if you need anything else. 👍

i wonder if you can unsolder those fittings with a propane torch and take them off. idk what that piece costs but after getting the wrong one from the junkyard i think that's what id do, try to unsolder those fittings off and replace the line with my own bent copper or somethin

That's not a bad idea. I don't know how those are fitted. Welded? Soldered? Either way it was 8 bucks so, not a huge deal. But these parts are sometimes discontinued so work around like this will become important.
