- Just showing you how i made a cheap solar tilting solar panel for $29 from my favourite store Bunnings
This has also improved my panels effiecy when the rack is raised by 35% !
Thanks for the video, very helpful. Small point-the gas strut seals will last longer if you install them with the rod down. See Camloc video ‘how to mount a gas strut’
Morning Mark that is good advice and I did take this into account but it only works when I have the rack lifted up which was how I intended to have the solar panel setup whilst at camp
I figured that it would be setup more that way then when I had the rack flat for transit. When the rack is lifted in the air and solar panel extended you will see the rod end facing downwards slightly
In hind sight I ended up using the gas struts more when parked up for visiting spots and going for works so I should have mounted them around the other way for the amount of use I was doing with that 🤣🍻
Love it. Hoping to do something similar!
Well done Ryan it looks good
Thanks Andrew 🤙
150n is 15kg of assistance. effort to move mass. great vids, and yeah, hate tekscrews. always predrill even though they are meant to drill themselves
That makes sense 🤣 and yep learned the hard way 🤣
Hi Mate, thanks for your vids about the opus and am working my way through them. Have just purchased a 2nd hand OP2 2019. You are giving me a lot of idea's of some mods I will have to make. What size solar panel did you fit to the rack?
@darrensmith4661 this is a 100w panel it produced 3.5 -4.5 amps when flat and just over 7 amps when on an angle
I paired that with a 120w solar blanket and together we're putting it out roughly 15amps
@@OUTBACKDiscovery thanks got the feedback. Now I have a basis for the solar panels I have, associated mods for the new 2nd hand trailer I am about to take ownership of. Appreciate your feedback and reply.
Will be doing the same with my ezytrail z but i wont leave it an an angle. If its flat then i wont have to worry about what direction the camper is in. Even though i will also be using a solar blanket as well. Basically fix the solar to keep the batteries charged while parked up and have that extra solar when camping
Perks of this setup is if I want it flat it folds flat, also with the way this boat rack tilts flat means the solar panel in facing downwards rather then 90 degrees so wouldn't work on this setup at all
Happy camping 🍻
That music during the Timelapse is aids.
Yeah I couldn't use good music because I had no licencing 🤣 thanks for pushing through it haha 🍻
