This is very well done and thought through. I love the sliding pads. All the components properly built! Thanks for the mention, this is beautifully improved solution! I’m itchy to develop aluminum V2 roof ruck with the CNC in my shop. I might take few ideas from you! Cheers, Ladi
Thank YOU for the inspiration! After using it I already saw margins for improvement. Would be nice to see a V2 from you. We may end up with the perfect roof rack! 😅
Very, veeeeeeery nicely produced roof rack!!!
Thank you so much!!🙏🏻 I really appreciate the support! 💚
You did a great job!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
That's the most impressive roof rack I have seen. Beautifully done and well egnineered.
Thank you so much!! I spent a lot of time designing this roof rack and comments like yours make me think it was worth the effort! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Nice work
Thanks!! 🙏🏻
@@diegosvan inspirational, I will emulate something similar for my 5th wheel.
Great! 👍🏻 I’m glad my video helps!
I love your creation and I would greatly appreciate if you would create a video of how you build it its components !
Possibly how you created the hinge and the way it locks in place. 😇🙏❤✨
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻 I will definitely do it in future! 👍🏻
Hi I presume from your videos your from the North of Italy, my family are from the South of Italy from Caserta, we are loving your videos, your very brave, looking forward to seeing the end result 😊 🇮🇹.....
Yes I am! Thank you so much for the feedback! I know I’m quite behind but I’m working on the next video..coming up soon! 😉🙏🏻
This came out so clean and with great precision. I've got (2) 450w bifacial panels that i want to tilt and I'm going to build something similar to yours. I have a maxxfan that will be able to fully open while under the panels when they are down.
I appreciate how clean everything looks with great wire management and i also like that you're antenna uses an actuator to keep the low profile.
I wish i could understand the exact principals used at the hinges to allow the panels to slide before catching. Obviously the actuators would continue pushing the panels parallel to the rack until they were met with some type of stopping mechanism to hold them, making the panels rize but i couldn't make it out during the video.
Anyways, great work and it was good also to see you give cudos to Ladi for his inspiration.
Thanks!
Thank you so much! Your plan sounds terrific! I wish I had found bifacial solar panels.. Well I could make a video to explain the hinges design but I need to figure out a software to record my laptop screen. So I can show the 3D model and explain it easier. Stay tuned!
Hi
Very professional 👏
However unable to see how it slides to lock into place .
Do you have video of the mechanism that allows it to slide to lock
Thank you so much!! Yeah you are not the first to ask that. I’m for sure going to make a video in the future but I don’t know when because I’m still building and the time to make videos is not much at the moment.
Wow, next level set up!
Thank you!!! 🙏🏻
nice work, love that... hope i will be able to do similar roof rack, the different timing of the actuators, isn't that due the different length of the cabels? because then the resistance is different.
Thank you!! It could be the cable resistance! Didn’t had time to check it yet. I’m too busy with the build.🙈 I’ll check the voltage on the motors while they’re running to diagnose it.👍🏻 thanks!✌🏻
I wish you had bifacial Solar it could produce more electricity. Best setup.
I wish I had found one with the necessary dimensions.😩 power is never enough! Thank you though I appreciate it!
Such a clean & well engineered project. Well done. Are you able to share the link to the actuators, you’re still happy overall with them?
Thank you so much!! I found them here:
shorturl.at/rtFVZ
not exactly this seller but it’s the same model. They are working well so far, very strong and quiet. Not sure if they are really waterproof or not because mines are covered by the solar panels so no water can get on them.
Wow - what an amazing build. Hop you do another more elaborate explanation of the size and components. Do you have links to the solar panels and the actuators used?
Thank you so much!! 🙏🏻 soon I’m going to film another video about all the details of this roof rack because so many people are asking. 👍🏻 solar panels are from local store and actuators are from AliExpress.
@@diegosvan Looking forward to it! Keep up the great work :)
@diegosvan what's the van is it mwb or h2 l3 ? Thanks
Awesome. Such a clever rack. Might you share which actuators you used ? And how did you did sliding mechanism at the bottom?
Thank you! I used this one:
a.aliexpress.com/_EuxnGaf
There are many different brand but they are all the same. Mine is 6000N (5mm/s) and 24V.
The sliding mechanism is made with a block of PTFE cut to slide inside the 30x30mm aluminum profile.
Great work. What length are you Actuators?
Thank you! They are 500mm stroke.
Hello from Hamburg Germany, I think your solution with the set-up solar panels is great. But I still have one question about it... On one Side is the locking mechanism. How did you solve the problem on the other Side? The panels have to move horizontally a few centimeters before they move up. How is the guide released on the side opposite the locking mechanism. Greetings from the rainy Hamburg.... Peter....
Thank you Peter! I know I didn’t show that particular section in the video… I should make a video explaining it. You are not the only person asking this. Anyway everything slides on a block of Teflon or also known as PTFe. Inside a small piece of aluminum profile. Stay tuned maybe in the next video I’ll talk about it! 👍🏻
Hello, can you please share the dimensions of the type of material you used for the solar panel stand and the brand and model of the actuator?
Be sure to be subscribed because a video about all the details is coming up soon!!! 👍🏻
That's amazing and very creative. How much did it cost you to build all that?
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻Actually I don’t have an exact number but more or less 1000€ solar panels included.
@@diegosvan you should start making them to sell cause I would buy one from you for sure.
I thought about it! I don’t have the time for it right now but in future maybe…
Could you share what size aluminium did you use for the roof rack? Thinking about similar project
I used 30x30 mm profile, 3mm thick. 👍🏻
Amazing job! I got very inspired buy it. Time a go I made a prusa I 3 from scratch and since this moment I wanted to hace a CNC machine as yours. Do you mind telling me what model do you have? Did you buy it or did you make it by yourself?
Thanks and cheers from Spain!
Thank you so much! That makes me really happy!
The CNC machine was a 2020 quarantine project, I built it myself, buying all the parts from AliExpress and the aluminum parts are also made by myself, besides the structural profile of course 😅. I also made a little anodizing station to anodize all the small parts. I was really into it lol
Thank you for the support! 🙏🏻
Amazing! I will follow your steps. Thanks for you support and tips!
Thank YOU!🙏🏻
Hi Diego, If you would not have shown the Idea came from Ladi I knew it was coming from him :-) very nice version 2 though! I think Ladi and Margret are the nr one in being open in the process of really fabricating on the fly. If I remember correctly Ladi even mentioned something making it in aluminium. But it is the mechanism he came up with that is top notch. But again nice version 2. Best regards, Albert 🇳🇱. P.S. the pp boxes you installed do they have a function?
Thank you so much Albert! Yes they are very good in building stuff. They have a nice workshop! The big black boxes? It’s just extra storage. Probably for the van maintenance and tools. Things that I don’t need so often. That you for the support! 🙏🏻
Hi, what cameras are you using on the roof rack? Are they being used only for live footage, or you are recording to hard drive with some kind of equipment?
Hi! I’m using rear view cameras, from Amazon. Yes it’s also recording 24/7. You can see something about it in the video about the electrical system.
Bellissimo quello che hai costruito, complimenti.
Posso sapere dove trovare i pistoni che alzano i pannelli solari ?
Grazie mille!!!
Certo gli attuatori lineari li ho acquistati su Aliexpress, ho poi costruito tutto in funzione di quest'ultimi.
Li trovi qui: shorturl.at/hotGX
Ovviamente ne trovi da diversi venditori con marchi differenti.
@@diegosvan Grazie per il link.
Posso chiederti dove hai preso i pannelli solari ?
Could you give me the links of the same actuators you used? Thanks!
I found them here:
shorturl.at/rtFVZ
not exactly this seller but it’s the same model. ✌🏻
@@diegosvan Thanks Diego!
Solar panel size?
1002 x 1684 mm or 39.4 x 66.3 in and 35 mm or 1.38 in in thickness. 19 kg each.
What is the total length and with? Thx
Total length of the base structure is 3,75m and with is 1,50m the solar panels are striking out a little on the sides as you can see in the video.
