The primary cause of the 'hangover effect' comes from the metabolism of ethanol to acetaldehyde. It's the acetaldehyde that makes you feel like crap the next day. Acetaldehyde is next metabolized into acetic acid which you excrete. Fun fact: The drug disulfiram (Antabuse), which is used to treat alcohol dependence, inhibits the enzyme which converts acetaldehyde into acetic acid. As a result, you get a build up of acetaldehyde quickly (very little gets a chance to be converted to acetic acid). The quick build up of acetaldehyde gives an instant hangover and they are less likely to drink. :)
Oh, as far as I knew they treat alcohol dependencies with AA and hopeful wishes! If feel like an alcoholic that wants to drink would just not take any drugs that would make it harder for them to not drink.
@@cmcocktails I think when it is used it is administered under supervision. Another fun fact you might find interesting is that woman have less enzyme activity for the enzyme (alcohol dehydrogenase) that converts ethanol into acetaldehyde than men. This is likely why woman have a lower tolerance for alcohol. SCIENCE!! :)

It's a different drunk with different drinks as well. I've got a science wiz friend who says it's because of the aging process, chemicals absorbed from the wood barrels. My experience agrees with aging being the determining factor but I can't say for sure. I'd describe it as clear/unaged alcohol giving me a drunk where I'm more relaxed and almost in an observational mode. Good for thinking without distraction. Aged drinks make me more impulsive and less alert. Good for shutting out the world for a few hours or restarting a conversation with drunk texting.
Alcohol dilates your blood vessels and the sugar increases your pulse. Ever notice your hands and feet getting warm/hot when you drink? As you sober up your blood vessels constrict. But your body may not be done processing the sugars. So insulin and Blood pressure are all still high. So Your blood feels like molasses being forced through a coffee stir stick. I bet certain people are more sensitive to certain things as well. I know someone who can't drink wine unless it's low in tannins. She had no idea why she was getting headaches or whatever for the longest time. White wine or a low tannin red helped.
Moderation. I have no more problems with hangovers since i at max. drink 2-3 beers and from there only Tequilas, Martinis or Manhattans. _And as soon as i get home late at night i drink 1 Liter Water before sleeping.
in my experiences, you get what you pay for. ie pay more than $20 and bottle and it seems to better filtered, better tasting, and less congeners. I can drink whisky, rum, scotch, gin etc without issue by sticking to a mid to top shelf brand. Also don't drink alcohol that comes in a plastic bottle. ymmv
It's more about the congeners. A night of Jameson's will leave me feeling like I kissed a truck but a night of cheap clear Rum, not so much. And even that is interesting; the Jameson's gets in my head the next day while the rum likes to mess with the stomach.
I don't really get a hangover though.. I might be more tired and more sensitive to food but I don't feel sick. Alcohol doesn't really affect my mind either.
I find ppl get hangovers more from clear spirits, and i think it all goes back to young ppl who don’t actually like alcohol or appreciate a well made alcohol, so they think the objective is to pound it. They start with vodka because it makes juice fun, but then they are lubed enough to enjoy real flavor in tequila (although still “fake”) and gin (although still “fake”) and so they get messed up. But when you meet an experienced drinker they will be choosey about exactly what vodka, tequila and gin.
04:03 Perfect debunking of the beer before spirits myth: "..the beer loosens you up and then you start making bad decisions. Then you're doing shots of vodka hhughhaaahhgvodkalllblll, and then your pants fall off" :'D
most hangover issues have nothing to do with spirit, proof or order. It's the person making the decisions that is causing the hangover. Wanna stop getting a hangover? Stop drinking so much dummy! :-)
I find cheaper drinks and especially ones with lots of sugars make me feel like shit the next day. I love scotch and after a night of one too many drams I hardly ever feel bad the next morning. Tons of other factors come into play though like how much and what you had to eat that day, how much water you drank that day, and how much sleep you get.
Excellent post D man! Hydration is the best way to go when you know your better judgement is going to take a cab on you. Power Aid before bed and one in the morning works well to get you electrolytes back in order but make no mistake, you will have to pay for the play either way.
It’s pretty much just the difference between throwing up dry heaves and throwing up actual water/fluids. They both no good but I’ll take the second all day
I remember in my ' Young and dumb ' years. I killed a bottle of tequilla in about 2 hours. Was dancing a lot and had a small buzz on. Got home and slept peacefully for 8 hours. Woke up dry mouth, so had two glasses of water while waiting for the coffee to finish brewing. Bang !!! A full on drunk. So fucken wasted, I could not make a coffee without spilling it everywhere. No deserved hang-over, just very tired after 3 hours of stumbling around. I like my clear booze neat or with flat ingredients, but will indulge in the colored booze or fizzy drinks with much respect. Hang overs suck big time.
22 year old guy currently testing the notion that clear liquor gives less of a hangover/ makes you less sick. So far, I find bourbon provides a brutal hangover while vice been doing very well w some vodka. I think being young has an influence on it but hey, 🤷🏼♂️ Opinions from experience greatly appreciated. Lol
The beer before liquor works like this: as your stomach becomes fuller with liquid or food it will take longer for you to feel that shot you just drank. This coupled with the feeling of bloatedness that carbonated drinks like beer give you and volume of liquid, will make you want to slow down if your drinking it. Shots are easy to down in faster time. So physiology is as much a factor as poor decision making. I can recall doing shots and 'feeling the same' after 15 min when I should wait at least 30 to feel its full effects. If I had a beer, I would not be drinking it in the same timeframe as a shot unless I was a frat boy.
i never get hangover, not since my first drink in high school , the key is to not over drink, i can tell u more if ur interested on how to perfect this everytime u drink , in a bad day i would drink a whole bottle of whiskey and not a drop of hang over ,all u do is consume it fairly to ur body as to not overfeed it and u will still have the same high , wat am doing doesnt decrease the pleasure in anyway , all it does is prevent hangover and headachs
So if you will drink whisky all night than you need more ammount water to hydrated than ammount of water when you will drink vodka? or it doesnt matter
I really like your videos, and I am in the whiskey industry. You do such a good job with explaining all the topics you cover. Thanks for doing such a great job!
to be honest.... i have seen a few videos on this topic and yours have been the more complete, detailed, entertaining AND honest .... you speak with reglar words that anyone can understand, thanks
The better the quality, the less the hangover!! Is this a true statement because I've found that if you buy a good quality liquor, you dont really get to hangover!! Good bourbon on the rocks!!
interesting, because I've met a few alcoholics in my life, unfortunately, and none of them get away without hangovers. Tolerance has nothing to do with a hangover, it's excessive drinking and not stopping that avoids the hangover.
@@cmcocktails I was mainly referring to how easy someone gets drunk plus combination when one drinks frequently more alcohol has to be consumed to generate a hangover. In my youth I lived a party life style and when I was drinking on a daily basis rarely did I suffer from hangovers, maybe it was mixing the drink with other substances that made the difference I can't be sure on that.
If you were drinking on a daily basis you won't get a hangover, a hangover is the withdrawal of the substance ... if you never stop then that doesn't count. Of course, if you continue that for prolonged periods of time you're hangover will arrive around the same time as liver damage and or death so...there is that !
yeah, as we get older and smarter we learn moderation. Or, you die early (or end up in prison or on the street). I'm good with being a bit smarter and wiser :)
Nice video really helpful and interesting. Have 1 question: If while I already drank a good amount of alcohol and I start to exercise or dance (what I usually do), will I be able to sweat that alcohol out of my body, resulting in a less "painful" hangover?
health studies shows you may be able to perspire 10% of the alcohol, not really enough to make any special difference. Of course, that won't impact your hangover, you aren't going to sweet out toxins enough to make a difference. Drink less to start with is the only way.
The scientists now found that the hangover symptoms is due to your body dehydratation. So drinking water during n after alcohol consumption are the no.1 thing u can do for hangover.
@Keven W there's an enzyme asians dont produce that breaks down alcohol so we are more sensitivite to alcohol. Only high quality whiskeies and 100% tequila agrees with my body
Same; as a 6'4 white dude from a long line of alcoholics I usually end up drinking more liquor than people I'm with to reach a similar buzz. Over the years have learned to stick with tequila mostly with some good gin or whiskey in between. MzChevyBlu knows whatsup.
Thank you! I will definitely tell my bartenders to only use CLEAR liquor in my drinks. I'm sure there are some clear liquors that have sugar... Maybe make a video on that??
well, you don't have to limit your bar to clear liquids, it's not really your problem, especially considering many fans of whiskey are out there. Many alcohols will bring in additional sugar but, here in the US anyway, you don't have to put ingredients or nutrition facts on the bottle. I have some rum brands sugar contents but only because they ship to Sweden and a few online sites have their sugar content as they have to declare it, apparently, when selling there.
You're right not listening!! But I dont pound down alcohol!! I'm more of a long distance drinker!! Dont get me wrong I like a good buzz!! But isn't that the whole point of drinking??
No, I don't think it is. I mean, is the whole point of smoking to get lung cancer? :) Just because there is a cause and effect doesn't mean it's the core purpose. I'm sure everyone has their own reason, I like the flavor combinations and trying new stuff, much of the same reasons I like to order banana splits at all the ice cream places I go -- I want to know how they do it, what makes it so great (when folks say "best ever") and what flavor combinations they put together. It's the same reason I go to different restaurants and order something I've ordered elsewhere, to experience the representation of that specific food/dish. For cocktails I also add in the historical aspects (I'm making a drink that was drank by my great great great grandfather's generation, etc.) To see if it holds up to what we design today. Or, to loosen up when interacting with folks I don't know well and need something to chat about or share experiences with (same with beer and wine). I'm not doing it because I like to be buzzed. As a matter of fact, when that starts to occur I slow down; everything in moderation. Then there are people that down a bottle of vodka on a nightly basis. I think that's the wrong way to go about it.
Well I don't want to go against you or anything but personally I have only once had a hangover and it was BAD because I closed a night of drinking beer with one shot of gold strike but other times I might have 5-6 glasses of whiskey and not get a hangover even though I'm a above average person or drink beer the whole night and have one or two vodka red bull and still no hangover so I think the reason was that those gold flakes somehow combined with gold strike being a low quality spirit just f'ed me up
I don't buy that a single shot of gold strike is what gave you a headache, I'm sure there were many variables that contributed to it, could be a salty dinner, could be less water than normal, could be you were a bit run down the day prior, etc.
***** it didn't give me a headache it made me vomit since then i never had another shot of goldstrike and haven't had a hangover and never had to vomit (because of drinking)
Alochol never gives me a hangover however it has given me 3 daughters! I guess child support is a type of hangover look back now. Side note after the third daughter I gave up Tequila!
In my expression its all about water. If you have exercised then drink it will hit you, if you drink on an empty stomach you get hit harder. And yes a larger person has higher tallerance because their body contains more fat and water. I myself control how much i drink and never get drunk, and the liquor before beer always works for my little friends and big friends, fat friends and thin friends, and i do believe chemistry has something to do with it, not just decision making. Furthermore, if carbonation makes things worse and liquor first makes things worse and alcohol leads to more alcohol, then according to your hypothesis then i would drink higher proof liquor first and then NOT move onto beer but continue because shots effect decision making WAY more than a beer, and then if i started with carbonation then I would have carbonation in me either way, regardless of order the effect is the same. So beer before or after, by your logic makes no difference. AND by your logic liquor would lead to worse decision making than beer, and yet you say that liquor before beer brings greater results due to decision making. So it works for the same reason it shouldn’t?
gotta be honest, I got lost in what you just said lol. Too many words without paragraphs in them for me to follow it all. So, go with "drink responsibly" :)
A good tip for moderate drinking (though one I rarely follow because I'm not the brightest ;) ) - drink a full glass of water after every drink. It slows you down and keeps you hydrated....also makes you have to pee.......:P
I have a german background, but all the relatives live over here in the states now. But, I do have a youtube show and one of our contacts is Niche Imports, who imports Stroh into the US.
I would argue that it's mostly the methanol that's a factor in a hangover. Most home distillers know that fruit wines have the most methanol in them, followed by grains, and then sugar washes with the least amount. Hard liquor should not give you as bad a hangover as beer and wine. If it does, it could contain an amount of heads and/or tails in it.....something that most home distillers strive to avoid. Stick to vodkas without too much sugary mixes, and you'll be fine.
But you just contradicted yourself a bit in your own argument... if methanol is the biggest factor, why would we care about sugary vodka cocktails? :) I think there is also strong evidence that alcohol, depriving the body of crucial vitamins with a healthy dose of sugar deprivation (after a long night of sugar intake) has an impact on the pain of a hangover. Which is why most "remedies" suggest things like Gatorade, Vitamin supplements (masked as "hangover pills") and water. There is no doubt a reason they work for a lot of people (not in all cases, but they can at least make you feel slightly better). Methanol is definitely bad, arguably the worse for you physically -- but I've had far worse headaches from a day of drinking beer than a day of drinking gins for instance. I know if you're going to cheapen your product by cutting it too shallow and having more head's and tails is a bad idea, but you can also taste some of that poor quality, which may help you in avoiding it. But I'd guess those that get the most sick aren't consuming too much methanol... I think it's consuming too much...EVERYTHING and not hydrating that's their biggest downfall.
@@cmcocktails No contradiction....you said yourself that sugars can be a "contributing factor". That was the point, methanol first...sugars second. I guess I should've said...a hangover from beer and wine is most likely methanol as the main culprit (due to the impossibility of removing it from the product), while a hangover from a hard liquor is probably more to do from the mix, heads/tails in the product, or the other factors you mentioned. I'm certain someone will fare much better if they were to drink the clean liquor (even with a sugary mix) over a methanol containing product....I prefer the "sugar" hangover myself over the methanol...lol. I stick to vodka mixed with "5 Alive citrus" nowadays, and if I'm drinking whiskey I'll shoot it straight with a water chase. Cheers!
Ah, yeah, I don't know much about methanol and beer, my father is a pretty serious homebrewer but I've never really taken it to the molecular level as much as just the phases of the build. I know that I fair much better with gin and mezcal/tequila over a night of drinking than brown spirits or beer. Beer I tend to have more of a stomach ache or screaming intestines no matter how I balance it out. With clear spirits I can pretty much balance 2:1 water with cocktail (even with sugar) and wake up fine. But, beer...my god, the worst of hangovers after 10 hours of drinking. I wasn't even drunk when I went to bed, but boy did my body hate me the next day.
@@cmcocktails I wonder if anyone has tried to distill off the foreshots (methanol), and majority of the heads from a beer, and then carbonate it? Wouldn't be economical, or necessarily tasty, but interesting as far as "hangover" is concerned. Hmmm......?
I cant agree with your statement about fat/lean people. You are not pumping your alcohol straight into bloodstream. You swallow it. And your body absorbs alcohol through your stomach. If you eat fatty foods before drinking, you stomach is full of various fats, and food in general, that delays alcohol absorption, thus you can drink more, before getting wasted. And I think the same goes for people with excess fat. They just don't need to fill their stomach with food, to get the same effect.
i can drink miller products all nite no hangover. dark crafty beer and liquor and mixing different booze kills. "...drinking vodka and then your pants fall off."😂🍻
nope, it's never that easy. A gold rum is often a white rum that has not been filtered (because filter removes flavor). A gold tequila, may also just be a white and reposado tequila blended into a single bottle. Jose Cuervo Gold -- yeah, stay away, but that's not because it's gold, that's because it's 51% tequila and 49% garbage. Most flavor comes through congeners and too many of those can lead to a hangover if you don't take proper precautions (like hydration). Moderation is key, if you're just going to consume alcohol non-stop for 8 hours, well, you deserve the result.
@@cmcocktails Thanks for the correction. It's my experience with the Jose Cuervo Gold and Bacardi Gold that had my opinion biased against the golds. I had plenty of cheap liquor, but I don't touch those two
So...that... ha. Bacardi Gold is just a young rum (like bacardi white but not filtered). It doesn't dictate the quality nor the age... ironically, it is just a marketing term. A drink that calls for "gold rum" can also just use "aged rum" or "silver rum" and get the same impact. One of the key differences in some rums involves how much sugar is added after to "smooth it out" or how much caramel color is used to make it look "older." For more on aged rums, I got a video on that ua-cam.com/video/CC42DLbY5iw/v-deo.html Bacardi, in all my blind tastings, often wins or comes in the top. So... it may be cheap, but I've not found any good reason to not use it in a drink.
The fat thing hasn't been my experience. When I was thin, two beers was enough to knock me out and put me to sleep. Now that I'm very fat, I can drink quite a bit of vodka and get almost no effect whatsoever.
@@cmcocktails Well, go figure. I have no idea why it's one way for one person, and different for another. I know I don't have a lot of muscle unless I got it by carrying my weight around. LOL That's actually a possibility, though. I have a lot of leg muscle and my arms aren't too bad, even though I never work out. When I was skinny, I did a lot of biking, but I was very lean - not a lot of muscle or fat.
yeah, lean isn't going to be helpful in this case, because you need the muscle to absorb it. Heavier people have more pass, so heavy vs. lean I think heavy will work every time.
Here is some science for you: bigger (Taller, fatter, whatever) people have more blood. Therefore the same amount of alcohol will not raise their blood alcohol level as much as a thin, smaller person, because the percentage of alcohol in their blood will be less. Therefore bigger people get drunk slower.
That is flawed science ;-) The problem comes down to how alcohol and fat works. Fill a shot glass with alcohol, then add some butter to it...what happens? I'll tell you so you can avoid the science here, it floats. Because alcohol and fat don't work well together, they push each other away. This is also why you can layer a lot of 80proof spirits on top of Irish cream. You can have double the blood if you want, but if that blood is also full of alcohol then you'll have the drunk feeling and get there "faster." Because muscle absorbs alcohol and metabolizes it faster. People that are dense with muscle will get drunk less fast than an obese person. That's not say they both can't get drunk or blow a percentage that's going to have you in jail. But the speed and "light headed" drunk feeling for heavier people is going to be easier. Of course, a muscle bound 5'6" person vs. an obese 6'7 person goes a bit beyond that, because of the sheer difference in density overall. But, two people "of equal stature" will see heavy folks get drunk faster. It's just science, and science you can perform at home with product!
@@cmcocktails I'm not saying fat isn't a factor. But just sheer numbers, if one ounce of alcohol is added to one pint of blood and one quart of blood, which is going to have the higher percentage? A 150 lb man and a 200lb man, both similar builds with same body fat percentage, but the 200 lb man is larger than the 150 lb man, the same amount of alcohol will not affect them equally, and the larger man will get drunk slower.
And you are pretty much making my point for me. A fatter person, IE larger person, will absorb less alcohol over a given time. A more muscular person, IE larger, will have more blood by nature circulating through their system, and won't, for a given amount, get drunk as fast as a smaller person. Same weight, but fat versus muscular? Muscular gets there quicker, fat guy stays there longer.
No, a fat person of equivalent stature will not. Sure Andre the giant vs me, but a muscle head vs someone I’d similar height will win if they have less fat
If there is a 150 lbs man at "fighting weight" (working out, good build, 15% body fat) and a 200 lbs man that_should_ be 150 lbs but is way overweight he's going to have like a 45% body fat -- he's going to get drunk faster than his "mirror image healthy" version of himself even with more blood.
It all comes down to water end of story. You can drink a gallon of jail juice made in a toilet bowl with bread yeast, kool-aid-and table sugar. As long as you finish your night off with a liter of water and a few ibuprofen you will be straight in the morning.
well, outside of the fact that when you've drank all that "jail juice" and your liver is screaming at you, sucking down a few ibuprofen does double damage ;-) Water is part of the story, a major part. But it won't solve everything. If you drink that much water before going to bed you'll be up a bunch during the night (or you pee yourself). However, if you mix water between drinks you'll be more evenly distributed and have a much easier time getting rest (which is no doubt going to help you in the long run). You may also want to drink water before drinking if you had a very salty dinner before that (say a dinner with friends before going out drinking harder)
@@cmcocktails Agreed, although if you are making wine in a toilet a little ibuprofen is probably the least of your problems. My go-to lately is has been scotch and water, 2 oz of each over ice. what we all drunkers want is how to drink crazy (money is not objective , 30 yr old whisky is ok as long as not hangover) but still not hangover. dont tell us to drink moderation. is like telling us how to make money by saving. tell us the secret of how to make more money , in this case, what to drink to avoid hangover . again. MONEY is not objective. i have a budget of 1500 dollar a night for alcohol.
I assume you're not familiar with human anatomy to this level. Yes, women have more fat than men, this is a natural design for both insulation and child bearing. Women's bodies have a big job, they have to do the work men can't and that involves handling a developing child, which requires more energy storage, warmth, etc.
I am very familiar with the female body but if I told her she was fat, regardless of the reasoning, I would be living on the couch or possibly in my car…thanks for the great show
well, I guess I just assumed most people realized I am talking about the human body and more scientific explanations for why things happen ... and not that I was calling my wife or any female specifically fat. I'm fairly certain most people can understand the differences; but, if some women decided to take offense to it, that's their problem, not mine. Not gonna be someone I hang with if they can't understand basic concepts like science vs. insults.

yep, all distilled spirits are clear in their birth given the vapors do not bring over any color when they're separated from the base material, even if it's a beer wort more like a whiskey. Even absinthe is soaked with herbs to give it the green color (if it's not artificially colored). All that being said, the hangover qualities of a spirit are often not to do with color but the components that make them what they are and how much of the congeners were allowed to remain from the vapors into the final product.

Same here, Whiskey and Rum do not give me hangovers, even if I down a bottle. But Vodka and wine give me hangovers regardless of how little I drink.
I had zero hangovers when I was in college and I drank absolutely everything. I have slowed way down now and have started to get hangovers as I age.

That’s a dope bar set
thanks
04:03 Perfect debunking of the beer before spirits myth: "..the beer loosens you up and then you start making bad decisions. Then you're doing shots of vodka hhughhaaahhgvodkalllblll, and then your pants fall off" :'D
most hangover issues have nothing to do with spirit, proof or order. It's the person making the decisions that is causing the hangover. Wanna stop getting a hangover? Stop drinking so much dummy! :-)
I'm really not much of an alcohol drinker, but I really like your videos and how informative they are.
thanks
This is as actually a really well spoken and Sensical way of putting it👍🏻

You are so knowledgeable! Thanks again Derrick
Thanks, it's all about research :) I just take the time to do it :)
Red wine....the worst hangover
I find cheaper drinks and especially ones with lots of sugars make me feel like shit the next day. I love scotch and after a night of one too many drams I hardly ever feel bad the next morning. Tons of other factors come into play though like how much and what you had to eat that day, how much water you drank that day, and how much sleep you get.
I'm the same. A margarita at the bar will give me a hangover. Half a bottle of Glenfiddich and I'm ok lol go figure.
Great explanation man! Keep up the great work!
Thanks!
Really enjoying these informational videos, a bit different to the usual stuff, and alot more interesting. Good stuff!
thanks
Now I know why you’re on this show. Good work.
yep, also because I started it and it's not really that I'm "on" it per se, but it's _mine_ in the first place lol.
Great info
Well said dude

There really should need to be no explanation to the phrase "the key is to not over drink." It pretty much stands alone as the answer :)
Just had a fun thought...How about a week of hangover cure cocktails?
any cocktail will do that :)
BAAZINGA !
Nice video bro!
thanks
even coke is good in moderation
"And then the pants come off... BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE... MODERATION..."
So if you will drink whisky all night than you need more ammount water to hydrated than ammount of water when you will drink vodka? or it doesnt matter
just drink a lot of water, don't overthink it.
I really like your videos, and I am in the whiskey industry. You do such a good job with explaining all the topics you cover. Thanks for doing such a great job!
Thanks
I really love me some slow, carefully oak aged congeners. That's a weird way of saying I like bourbon/scotch lol
I usually drink half a cup of water to every drink I take, haven't had a hangover or headache in over ten years with this method.
yeah, so that's part of my next video... :) how _I_ avoid the hangover.
to be honest.... i have seen a few videos on this topic and yours have been the more complete, detailed, entertaining AND honest .... you speak with reglar words that anyone can understand, thanks
That's the "common man" part of the channel :)
However there was may claims not backed by science. If you noticed he did not cite a single source.
The better the quality, the less the hangover!! Is this a true statement because I've found that if you buy a good quality liquor, you dont really get to hangover!! Good bourbon on the rocks!!
He literally says this is the case in the video. Did you even watch it?
The biggest factor is usage, the more often you drink you build up tolerance it's the same with all drugs.
interesting, because I've met a few alcoholics in my life, unfortunately, and none of them get away without hangovers.
@@cmcocktails like I said when I was young I lived a party lifestyle, now I don't drink or take any substance which isn't from the doctor.
yeah, as we get older and smarter we learn moderation.
I guess when describing ethanol and its "common sense" action on the body you could have summarized it by saying it is poison.
sure, but that makes a short and dumb video so... let's explain more in depth than that.
The scientists now found that the hangover symptoms is due to your body dehydratation. So drinking water during n after alcohol consumption are the no.1 thing u can do for hangover.
yeah, I think I mention that in our video about how to avoid 'em.
Merry Christmas
Thanks, you too
I don't get hangovers cus I chug a water bottle then eat something before I go to bed
If I mix our moonshine with diet cokes (aka no sugar) I've never had a hangover from it, would recommend!
Good quality shine is so much better than anything sold in the liquor store.
I drink good Tequila and drink water the whole time I'm drinking, and I never have hangovers.
that works
Try having asian genetics
@Keven W there's an enzyme asians dont produce that breaks down alcohol so we are more sensitivite to alcohol. Only high quality whiskeies and 100% tequila agrees with my body
Same; as a 6'4 white dude from a long line of alcoholics I usually end up drinking more liquor than people I'm with to reach a similar buzz. Over the years have learned to stick with tequila mostly with some good gin or whiskey in between. MzChevyBlu knows whatsup.
When you hardly drink ya won’t get a hangover. Drinking water helps a ton but if you are actually drinking then you will get a hangover regardless.
Why do some alcoholic beverages give you a hangover? ... because you are not irish :D
I think that's the wrong way to go about it.
i drink the town dry every day on an empty stomach. i never get hangovers. i think it's the persons ability and organs.
Mitchell Cox ethnicity is a factor as well.🍻
Well I don't want to go against you or anything but personally I have only once had a hangover and it was BAD because I closed a night of drinking beer with one shot of gold strike but other times I might have 5-6 glasses of whiskey and not get a hangover even though I'm a above average person or drink beer the whole night and have one or two vodka red bull and still no hangover so I think the reason was that those gold flakes somehow combined with gold strike being a low quality spirit just f'ed me up
I don't buy that a single shot of gold strike is what gave you a headache, I'm sure there were many variables that contributed to it, could be a salty dinner, could be less water than normal, could be you were a bit run down the day prior, etc.
Nurse your drink while sipping a little water with it.
SHALOM..
How do I get invited to the party lol
A good tip for moderate drinking (though one I rarely follow because I'm not the brightest ;) ) - drink a full glass of water after every drink. It slows you down and keeps you hydrated....also makes you have to pee.......:P
I've got one too, coming at 5PM today on how I do it.
Awesome..keep up the great work!!
do you have german/austrian relatives? didn't know that Stroh Rum was known on the other side of the atlantic :D
I have a german background, but all the relatives live over here in the states now. But, I do have a youtube show and one of our contacts is Niche Imports, who imports Stroh into the US.
He said " moderation " 😂😂😂😂
I think there is also strong evidence that alcohol, depriving the body of crucial vitamins with a healthy dose of sugar deprivation (after a long night of sugar intake) has an impact on the pain of a hangover.
Hmmm......?
@@theghostofsw6276 I think they would just call it moonshine :)

They just don't need to fill their stomach with food, to get the same effect.
ha! I've never had a hang over... but i drink with moderation :p

I have NEVER done anything STOOPID while drinking alcohol. 🤣
so stay away from any rums or tequilas with the word "Gold" in it Lol
nope, it's never that easy.
One of the key differences in some rums involves how much sugar is added after to "smooth it out" or how much caramel color is used to make it look "older."
For more on aged rums, I got a video on that ua-cam.com/video/CC42DLbY5iw/v-deo.html
Bacardi, in all my blind tastings, often wins or comes in the top. So... it may be cheap, but I've not found any good reason to not use it in a drink.
The fat thing hasn't been my experience. When I was thin, two beers was enough to knock me out and put me to sleep. Now that I'm very fat, I can drink quite a bit of vodka and get almost no effect whatsoever.
interesting, I got a buddy that was well into his 400 lbs range and two Mike's Hard Lemonades and he was done. I'm 157 and can drink 3x what he does.
Lol I love the Sheldon Cooper BAZINGA shirt.... love that show
IF they are heavier due to fat.
If they gave PHD's for Alcohol, you would definitely qualify! ;)
lol, I got enough years invested that's for sure. Just waiting for the salary :)
last time i drink moonshine 😷
In my experience if I buy top shelf no hangovers period,if I buy bottom shelf....nuclear holocaust in my attic and in my basement.
It all comes down to water end of story. You can drink a gallon of jail juice made in a toilet bowl with bread yeast, kool-aid-and table sugar. As long as you finish your night off with a liter of water and a few ibuprofen you will be straight in the morning.
well, outside of the fact that when you've drank all that "jail juice" and your liver is screaming at you, sucking down a few ibuprofen does double damage ;-)
Water is part of the story, a major part.
WOW I cannot believe you said women are fatter than men.....
Not gonna be someone I hang with if they can't understand basic concepts like science vs. insults.
Great video. One point about whisky/whiskey; it starts off as clear spirt. In high quality whisky products, all the coloring will be from the barrel (although adding a caramel coloring is not uncommon). I find I can drink a good deal of non-chill filtered, no color added, single malt Scotch with minimal hangover.
Also, lots water and a few capsules of activated charcoal when I’ve really gone too far seems to help a great deal.
yep, all distilled spirits are clear in their birth given the vapors do not bring over any color when they're separated from the base material, even if it's a beer wort more like a whiskey.
Even absinthe is soaked with herbs to give it the green color (if it's not artificially colored).
All that being said, the hangover qualities of a spirit are often not to do with color but the components that make them what they are and how much of the congeners were allowed to remain from the vapors into the final product.
