    The reason "I" agree with you.. is that "Dumaguete / Valencia / Bacong" and the surround areas offer so much diversity.. so much to see and do..(mountain cool weather, waterfalls, hiking, sports complex with a walking track and pool, beaches, that awesome public market, several old malls with cheap prices that make me feel like it's 1970 and the expanding Robinson's mall with everything shiny and new, ferry port to anywhere) yet it still has a small town vibe.
    I've lived in Manila a couple of times, Cebu once.. and in my opinion, they're more stressful, not as safe and I don't feel the same level of friendliness or community.

    I missed Dumaguete. I used to be there during my long student years, and during my family holidays I visit Duma. Nowadays Duma has changed largely, it gets very congested with traffic more than my student days in the 90's. But speaking retirement, we will lived nearby Dumaguete, not in Duma. We bought more than a hectare land uphill in Valencia-Bacong area, enough to do my passion of gardening with fresh air and cooler climate, have also a beach property 60 km away from Duma, and another uphill, just an alternative not to get bored, perhaps for business. But there are more alternative lovely places and cheaper lands as you go a distance from Dumaguete with great mountain and ocean views. If one is based in Dumaguete, he/she has to put up with the pollution and traffic jams. It's not paradise. However, it boils down to ones preferences. Living nearby Dumaguete, we can be at the mountains quickly or by the sea too. Please don't listen to the sad people who bash this place because they can't get on with other expats. Our world don't revolve around sad people. Dumaguete should not be represented by these bad transients, or better they all have to leave. They only knew Duma as the crowded small city because all they love is just hanging out with losers in those dusty streets and don't explore much of nature. Greetings from the UK.

    LMAO - That Tortilla Bag Still!!! XD
    Bold Statement "Favorite City" when you haven't been to Bohol or Boracay yet!
    Duma is nice, but my friends from there still vacation here in Bantayan

      Borocay is a small tourist island - cannot compare to a city. Bohol is also an island with mostly small village. Like, oh man, why are you comparing those?

      @OhYa1337 Рік тому

      I live in Bantayan@@DS-gf3xb - I have been all over, I know borocay & bohol both very well. Not comparing them to Duma, I am only saying for someones first visit here its a bold statement to call someplace their fav, to really experience this wonderful country, you really need to travel a lot.
      I have been to many places from luzon, angeles, lagaspi, naga, borocay, all over cebu, duma, Siquijor, bantayan, bohol, camigun, illigan, CDO, and even marawi :( to name a few...

    i agree with some people that have negative comments that dumaguete is not pinas best place to be but it really depends on ones perception of a certain place….let this guy fr texas enjoy the place… later on maybe he can explore all the other nice places in the phils…i have lived & worked in the u.s. for more than 30yrs i had fun & enjoyed it while i was young… lots & lots of driving but now i just enjoy the walks at the new boulevard & silliman/bantayan beach now that i’m older…

    Dumaguete reminds me of David, Panama, which I lived nearby for years.
    That's not a compliment.

    Dumaguete is far from the best city in PI. Its where old guys go to die. Most the personalities there are "B" style boring ass old men (in their hearts)..Its slow, for slow "simple" guys. I simply post this because my friend was watching all the UA-camrs there make the video (most are good) and after wasting his time in Duma and Valencia for 2 weeks, once again told me I was right. GUYS- many good you tubers in Duma, but its not the best place to live for so many. It lacks much such as Character, no American history, small airport, only Visaya girls live there, very few other province girls go there, and real limited restaurants, night life, and the girls all are aware and accustomed to foriegners.

      It is depends of the personalities of the people ,if we like peaceful, fresh air, cost of living,etc, DUMAGUETE CITY IS ONE OF THE BEST PLACE TO LIVE. DUMAGUETE CITY IS MY SECOND HOMETOWN AND VALENCIA IS MY FIRST HOMETOWN. THIS PLACE IS GOOD TO OUR HEALTH. GOD BLESS US ALWAYS.

      Where old guys go to die, do me a favour, I am 76 in October and still go disco dancing with my filipina wife, were not all invalids, you have a very narrow mindset...

      To each his/her own opinion. Sad you had a bad impression of Duma. Dumaguete isn't for everyone. But it's a great place for who have higher threshold for lifestyle change. For people who can't bear up Dumaguete, fair enough to move on some where else better that suits them or go back home to mama. I wouldn't have my opinion over the place based on few youtubers. It has to base based on our real experience, Dumaguete is our fav place. Cebu city is too big too, Ilo-ilo seemed sterile kinda boring. Manila, fine but too big.

      Hey buddy so sorry for your depressing comments. Don't come to Duma, we don't need you here. This place is for people who appreciate our great place and respect our people.

      lol, you give no examples to back "how great your place is"? nothing but your "feelings", and we all know how we feel about your feelings, dont be such a snowflake, I dont believe in political correctness and tell it like it is.@@josephinepino3956
