Cool
Do you know if it's possible to pair the car with an R/C controller instead of using the mobile apps?
@@DavidslvPT are you talking about the powered up train controller?
@@Unbrickme hi there, sorry I wasn’t clear, I meant an RC transmitter, used on those electric or nitro cars from brands such as Kyosho, HPI, Tamiya. Those controllers have an accelerator and a wheel to turn the buggy left or right. For me it’s a deal breaker if it only uses a mobile app to control the car
How many hours i will drive this vehicle in a single charge???
Despite having less pieces than the 42109 for the same price, this set is honestly a MASSIVE improvement playability-wise.
Definitely! It also has better wheels and suspension
The fact that he said "no pressure" after saying subscribe caused me to subscribe
:)
Hey unbrickme, thanks for this cool video. The single problem that I had with the buggy was that it wasn’t driving 100% straight and you shared the code in the app so now I can trim my buggy. Now it’s so fun to drive around. Thank you very much
I have the app, but honestly, a selfmade control like you did yourself, with throttle and steering separated, is much much better than the single dual function "thumbstick" from the Technic Control app
This is an amazing video and review I was just looking for lego technic set reviews when I came across yours so I decided to see it and Im surely gonna buy this set thank you for the review!
Would of been pretty cool if they replace Lego power functions with a radio remote control system like that old Lego racers car that they even made a video game about I forget the name of it though
Makes me miss my radio controlled lego car I got from lego land when I was younger I wish they would do something like that as technic as my car I don't have now
Thank you for this review. Really informative
Just subscribed to your channel! Looking forward to more LEGO videos.
This is an awesome set, I really enjoy it. It is my second control + set after Lego Technic 42099.
It's funny being in the hobby grade RC scene and seeing this described as "racey"
Still a bloody cool kit though.
what happens to add a color sensor on a bottom. programming using pybricks. and turns into a line follower?
if i add 2 motors to power the back wheels would it be faster?
It can kinda off-road, but it is better off with a (live axle) suspension mod based on my experience. Even then it is only 2WD and it is a a struggle going uphill.
axle 3 in gear 36 slips out after a while. Is there any way to fix it. thank you
would be fun to see how this buggy stands up to other off road cars in a lego trial competition.
Nothing beats the OG Lego Dirt Crusher, now that's was a beast
So interesting to see this on snow🌚👀
Awesome 👌🏽
Good luck🌸
Can you compare this set with the 8675 racers outdoor challanger
Nice set, nice video, keep up good work. Subscribed :)
Thanks for the sub! I appreciate it very much
I have 2 questions
1. How did you get it early
2. How do you get those epic shots (with a High tech camer or a phone)
I got it from my local toy store. Also I use a high tech camera I pretty much never use my phone. The only shot from my phone in this video is the one about the new technic beam
Great video! Really enjoyed your videos are so inspiring!
thank you very much! will you be getting this set?
@@Unbrickme I’m not very interested as c+ is so bulky but this is such a cool set!
Thanks for sharing, very useful information.
Glad it was helpful!
That car is definetly killin it......dont worry i have subscribed.....lol
I agree about the radio control thing... I bought the super offroader when it was new, and I really didn't use it because I have to use a phone app to control it and I have issues with that. So I took it apart, and I just don't use the electronics out of it. I don't want any more remote controlled Lego sets that don't come with the remote controller. For one thing... it was quite a hassle to get a phone just to use as a Lego set controller, and its disappointing how fast the app gets said phone hot and stuff.
Great video. good job!
Thank you!
As a lego car collector( speed champions, creator expert and technic) i like this one. But I'll wait for some nice deal to keep it affordable 😌
6 months from now on bricklink will be the peak time for the best cheap deal for this car sealed!
Bro can you help me I can’t connect to my buggy what should I do?
Looks amazing! When will it come out? How did you get it so early?
January 1st
I got it at Geppetto’s toy store
I copied the code but if i try to connect my buggy with this it doesnt work? is this bc the hub is a different one then the lego power up one ? please anyone help me ;-;
Hey unbrickme!
Just wondering should i get this or the 10277 crocodile locomotive?
Great review btw
Man that’s a hard decision. Personally I would get this buggy set but if you really like lego trains I would get the crocodile locomotive
@@Unbrickme thanks
Great review can’t wait to get this. Any rumors on what the new 1/8 super car will be.
I expect the next 1:8 scale car will come in 2022( Porsche 2016, Bugatti 2018, Lamborghini 2020).
So i expect no rumors until 1 or 2 months before the release.
Probably 2022 release
I think it will be a Ferrari or a McLaren
Could you motorize the land rover for off road use ? Would love to see that
Yeah maybe if I get the Land Rover defender set. Although I would probably have to take out the transmission
Can't wait to get some of those 1x15 Technic frame pieces!
nice
:)
what is your maximum speed
I'd like to see how that car preforms on a buwizz and a buggy motor 😁
Yeah I did the bill is 3.0 and the two Billys motors and it is stupidly fast
Can go off road easily
i find the steering is very loose, do you have ideas how to fix it?
Unfortunately you really can't. There's a lot of mechanical backlash in the steering mechanism
That buggy is really cool!
I agree!
Great Review!!
Thank you very much! Do you like this set?
@@Unbrickme yeah but I like the stunt racer to!
Is this by default remote control? Or is it something separate thing you gotta get
You have to have a compatible smart device, like an iphone
@@Unbrickme ok it comes with everything to make it be remote control other than a smart phone or some other mobile device right?
@@gabecollins5585 yes
@@Unbrickme ok it’s insane that just some pieces and small tires and motors can do all of that in such a small package it looks really fun to use as well
@@gabecollins5585 Yeah the set is really cool and very fun!
i know im late but will putting the X L motors on it make it go faster
probably
1:28 just to inform that’s called a swingerarm... it’s the same type of suspension on sport quads and certain go karts
Thank you so much for letting me know
@@Unbrickme my pleasure 😁
4:26
Do these tires fit the Land Rover Defender
Probably not, they wouldn’t look good with the Land Rover defender anyways
You do know there are regular remote control lego sets...right? Including the 8676, 8366, 8675, 8369, 8475, 8376.
Yes
It’s not out yet
If you want the real thing buy a tamiya RC buggy. But really cool Lego set as well.
Have you do product feedback?
Yes
i have lego racers rc set with buggy motor
Great video! Subbed! I do wonder when Lego are actually going to make a Technic set that drives REALLY fast. 🤔
Yeah I wish that modern technic sets were like hobby cars in terms of speed. Back in the days of the old RC system lego technic of the early 2000s they had much faster RC cars. Buwizz, a third party battery box, also offers a much higher electrical output so the motors go much faster.
@@Unbrickme With an 18+ label Lego could quite easily give the motors a bit of a boost. Maybe one day.
Is this better than the rc tracked racer
It’s faster so yes
In this configuration this is just a toy, like all the gears are open and dust can get inside and destroy your mechanisms
Good video! You would like to see my homemade 1/5 49cc RC car!
thank you very much! sure yeah I would like to see your car
For the price i would expect it to be alot quicker.
It’s a Lego…
Looks like an 80s Tamiya buggy
4.41: in the background i saw the 42119 monster jam max d
Moditor Playz review of all the technic 2021 winter sets is on the way :)
Certainly NOT.
Not protected plastic gears + sand = absolute nightmare.
How about put inside typical brushless motor to this set and steer it by Radiolink or DumboRC?
Even though the price per piece count is horrible, I think it is outweighed by the high level of playability, suspension, looks, etc
where did you get it early???
Local toy store
@@Unbrickme what store?
I got it at Gepetto's
It certainly can offroad better than Muskrats' cybertruck.
with buwizz motor?
no

I’m using the iPhone XS. But I use a real camera to make all my videos

iPhone 11 is definitely compatible with powered up and control+

The tire is dirty I think want to wash it off dry overnight and looks better due to COVID.
i really wish it was faster...
Imagine this with BuWizz and buggy motors
BuWizz made their own motors. They're 20% more powerful than the LEGO buggy motors.
I prefer to use lego only motors because, well, they’re made by the official lego company

When does this set retire??
Not sure, but probably 2 years from now
No pressure tho no pressure

nice
Who would win between the buggy and 42099
in a speed test, the buggy
in an off roading test, the 42099
@@Unbrickme thanks for responding
Don't really like the back suspension. I really like the new pieces tho.
Back suspension is more than fine for me
@@Unbrickme I would prefer a live axle one than a simple one. or like a independent one as the front one.
Compare this set to 8475. Boom
BIG BOY HELLO!
the problem is the diff
The steering in that buggy is absolutely dreadful. When going back to the center it doesn't re-align properly because the steering connectors and wheels are too wobbly. The steering angle also is not particularly good.
The off-road capability is not exceptional: it needs either a differential lock or to completely ditch the differential.
The steering is the real problem. That one should be fixed. The rest (if we leave aside Control+, which has a whole lot of problems of its own) is fine.
Getting it day 1
Awesome! I’m glad you like it!
@@Unbrickme yup
The Control+ app is garbage. Who thought that single joystick control was a good idea? Use the Powered Up app and this set is great. I’m considering adding lights.
Is this a 1 speed transmission, and not proportional steering? Proportional steering is like real life, u can steer a little bit and it will steer a little bit. Not proportional is if u steer a little bit or a lot, it will always do a full steer. Proportional going back and forward, is going fast and slow.
There is no transmission there is only one speed and you get proportional steering in this car. However, if you want to, you can always customize the controller and get non proportional steering
Proportional steering is better of course, and proportional driving would be nice too
I'm not gonna buy it because i already have hobby grade rc that goes upto 70km/h and i was not satisfied with the speed of all lego technic vehicles. And i recently ordered a new crawler kit too
The remote has a throttle control so it gives more/less electrical power to the motor thus varying the speed and torque. Works the same way as a Tesla
Yeah hobby cars are still better than modern lego technic. Maybe try Buwizz to get faster speeds with lego technic
Its a really good set but I think it is a tad bit overpriced, This should sell for 100 not 130 dollars
Yeah that was the main advantage of power functions, it was simply cheaper!
I updated my final app.
Nice
@@Unbrickme ok I want to open this.
I got it!
The biggest limiting factor is the method of bearing rotation. Currently it’s still using bare plastic (+) profile shaft spinning in bare plastic holes. This is fine for moderate or slow speed projects with little run time, but if you’re talking about longer range radio and dusty off-road racing then this won’t last at all.
I’m not complaining, I just believe LEGO is reaching their limit for performance capability
Are you and racing brick friends?
Hopefully in the future we will be
Can you get this from???????

.....on my phone.
Looks cool but is to slow for me with my 100 kmh rc cars lol
Yeah I wish lego made some real RC cars that are super fast! I think that for a modern lego technic set this is still quite fast!
Yes, that would be great if they teamed up with some of the leading tc brands and made a brushless lego motor, but It would need a lot of reinforcements to stay intact
Edit: rc brands*
Can you gera it up
A little
Quite fast ? Are you kidding me lmao
I’m not, what type of batteries are you using?
@@Unbrickme I don't have it but seeing your video, which is cool I guess, I can tell that it's not a Bugatti Veyron... And other tests say its disappointinngly slow
Calmax Film well, I can guarantee it’s faster than any lego technic set released after the 9v era. So, in comparison to other RC vehicles, it is much, much faster
There you go you got 4.7 subscribers
Thanks 4.7k actually
@@Unbrickme yeah I know I edited it.
I didn’t refresh when I replied sorry
@@Unbrickme what’s your next video going to be about?
@@Unbrickme that’s ok
This thing costs 130€. 130€!!! For 300 something parts and some crappy Control+ features.
You can get a real RC Buggy that can handle real offroad duty and reach speeds up to 20-30 km/h and it does come with a physical remote control, which is way better than a touch screen that doesn't give you haptic feedback, for the same amount of money.
This set is overpriced by a lot. The electronics all together maybe cost around 50€ (if it's really high quality), the parts cost 10€, so you can sell this thing for 70€. End of Discussion.
Yeah that’s the main disadvantage of control+ it’s too expensive. On the official lego website the hub costs $90 and each motor costs $40 which is just too expensive. If this set were made with power functions it would be priced between $80-$100
LEGO in general has gone off the rails with their pricing. When it all boils down to it the majority of Lego sets are bits of plastic that would cost very little where it not for the Lego name. I have hundreds of pounds worth of Lego but, melt it down and it's all but worthless. Yes, Lego have put a lot of thought into their sets but, to charge the prices they do is nothing short of ludicrous profiteering. Look at last years profits if you disagree!!! I won't be buying any more that's for sure.
I feel like LEGO is taking the wrong approach with RC sets. They are like trying to be a full on RC Car in this set I mean you can literally just drive this thing and they even added a fake antenna but for the price tag, even RC buggies you can buy at K-Mart which cost like a fraction of this set performs just as good if not better. I feel like it should be like the other RC Sets like the 6x6 Volvo where you can operate multiple features remotely other than just steering or throttle
Where the local toy store name?

Hey I just subbed mid of the video, word of advice and I really mean it, don't push people with your subscribe reminders, it's annoyes one at best. As long as your content is good enougth (wich it is) people will come and sub to you on their own, I had a rather bitter taste for subbing you given that you pushed it at 1:3 of the video. You know, it's a "treat people with respect" thing, we don't need you to tell us that like modern movies do with their cast, instead of showing that they are shocked today they actually say "I am shocked" ... just meh. And I really don't mean it as an insult, it's just one thing I tell YT'ers that I like and want to keep watching videos from and the more they push the "Hey guys like and subscripe" at the start of the video the more likely I jump off. Just not good trends YT is heading towards.
Thanks for the insightful advice!!!!
