There's 1,001 reasons not to buy/ collect most of the things that humans do, but only one reason is needed to justify our habits: we love it 👏🤣 Great video Mr. X 👍
This whole segment screams Fighr Club. You are part of a secret underground organization. You had a fight with yourself in the begining of the video and with my glasses of you kinda look like a young Brad Pit. Very cool Mr. X, very cool.
Long story short there’s thieves in the custom statue trade and most statues are unlicensed with incredible prices ., but digging finds gold so break out that check book throw hands support the good ones point out the trash and hail to the king baby !! Because this is my boom stick ! It’s a twelve gage double barrel Remington , cobalt blue steel a walnut stock and a hair trigger !! That’s right goddamn it shop smart shop s-Mart ! U got that!!!!
Hi, great video. I recently got into making custom statues. They are a great hobby and love printing and painting them. Maybe some day I can send you one for a review.
Great video, I appreciated your insight into that world I am not familiar with. Question, are those garage shelves? I thought you were only into Moducase? Do you have an updated video on your htoughts on shelve and display options? Pros and cons? Moducase vs. Garage Shelves? Thank you !
very funny intro! 4. "Broked" is that a word. i agree with the list, but you have gotten a lot of pretty awesome ones i still would like to own at least 1.
To me it all depends on the quality and the price, if it looks good(costume or not) and not at at giod price ill get them. I do some costume paint kits and always do a good job, never like to do a job that i wouldn't want someone to do to ke, thats how i treated anyone one. If i set on a price and agreement i dint pull back, that how you get peoples trust, thats me
I'm looking to pick up my first custom. I'm anxious about it but it's so bad ass looking. Thanks for the information. I'm sure I'll talk myself into it🤣
Happy Holidays, Mr. Ehhhhhhhhhx! Good video. I agree with all of your points. The one item that stands out the most for me is the scammers. Y’know……the scumbags who have a good reputation due to their marketing, then steal your cash. The Grinch should plow those creeps! 😂. Generally, I’ve had really good experience with custom commissioners. The statues (90% of the time) are amazing and certainly worth the cash. But, it’s that one scumbag that steals your hard-earned money that ruins it for other commissioners. Add to that the insane increase in shipping costs, and the artists who create these great statues are seeing a reduction in confidence by collectors. Here’s a cheer to a great 2022, to another year of Mr. X, and to the success of custom statue creators!
These are many reasons that I tried to stay away from the custom side of things, but I'm slowly creeping my way in. I do a lot of research and a few have amazing track records and constant communication/updates. Odds are good that my POs will work out as good or better than I'd hope. We'll see early next year how that goes...
dam dude this is such good info im new to all this no statues yet but have PO on 4 different ones! im researching everything and your videos have helped me so much , gonna be very careful with customs!
1st rule of custom statues is we don't talk about custom statue club. Great advice Mr. X, I do not collect statues therefore, I'm not getting into the custom game 😆. I just like looking at your vids to see what cool sh?! you have!
It's a huge risk either custom or on licensed statues. It'll be lucky if Commissioner of a custom statues can and may replaced broken parts, missing parts etc. Anyways, the video is a good way of informing the public or newbies and oldies collectors to choose either to buy or not to buy custom statues. Right Mr. X ? 👍
Good points, I doubt I will ever buy a custom piece, it's too expensive and there is too much risk. That's why I appreciate this channel, get to see some interesting statue I wouldn't normally see.
Oh no, I just bought my first custom statue, was talking to my girlfriend about it because she doesn't understand how i could spend so much money on something i have to wait for, for so long and then this video dropped. Great list, the statue i bought was too much of a grail for me to pass on. I am still new to collecting so i am still figuring out the hobby and where i want to take my collection. I am focusing mostly on x men but i have a couple of DC pieces. Thanks for all the tips Mr X.
I’ve seen several customs up for sale or auction. I was tempted to but, due to the sellers prices on them, I had to pass on them. Now, I’ve started ordering statue(s) $900 to $1,200+ price range. I might get a custom statue someday. Thanks for the video Mr. X. 👍
Right now my collection is focused on licensed pieces but there are a ton of customs i've seen that i would love to go after. I'll try to avoid them as long as i can but i just know that in the future i'll have to deal with some of these problems.
My two biggest hold ups on custom pieces is the price and fear of being ripped off. Heck, I get paranoid when CGC or Tsume take so long to send out updates
PO'ed my first custom not too long ago. Dipping my toe into the waters and seeing if I keep my toe. Don't want to make habit of it though and for the most part will stick to licenced pieces.
Great video. My biggest issue so far with buying customs is lack of communication from commissioners who have a history of putting out great pieces. Thankfully I haven't been burned yet but I imagine it'll happen eventually.
I appreciate the similarities you highlighted between buying custom & license statues each has risk and rewards. In the end some people are comfortable with exploring shopping options and therefore have greater variety in their collections. Plus, it's cool that you are willing to share your experiences😁 educational + entertaining 🙌😎
I agree to an extent, and while I don't keep up with every Sideshow piece, but the overall quality is better now. I have the Sideshow Rogue PF 2011 repainted and the painting alone was $550; totally worth it. Sideshow isn't perfect, but you're paying for very special skills that not many people have. Finding a painter isn't easy, and the entire process took a year: being on a waitlist and completion.
do you ever rewatch your videos and look at the intro you made for the giveaway and look at your hair...then in all the new videos youve made since getting it styled (and grown) and go....damn i look much better now then when i first made that giveaway video?
As someone whose new to statue collecting this video was incredibly helpful. I tend to stick to licensed. Ive only dipped my foot into the rabbit hole that is customs. I do love that they make lesser known characters though.
When I first started statue collecting there was a spawn custom statue that I wanted man it was a beautiful piece I believe gem mint was the first to review it I would have loved to got my hands on it but apparently a lot of people got screwed over on it
I only have two custom pieces and fortunately both were good experiences. Your video reviews on them were the main reason I took the chance (both throne Lokis). I'm guessing your top ten why you should will have the reason I went custom: not enough Loki at any scale, let alone 1/4. I would probably take another chance on a Lady Loki custom.
Not for statues but I lost a few grand buying into a creator from a different custom collectible scene that had a bunch of bulldogs/hypemen who shut down any questions about progress or negative comments and by the time we all realized this person was a POS they were already long gone with our money. And lo, their posse had absolutely nothing to say all of a sudden since they were left in the dust too. Definitely use your common sense before preordering from anyone without protection, even if they have a huge following. Assume anyone can become a scamming shitbag when they see $$$ and protect yo self
I am still waiting for my custom apocalypse there is supposed to be giving us the shipping information soon and some people are worried about how much it’s going to cost your speculations that’ll be $800 plus
Informative video. I own 4 custom statues. My big reasons: 1. Packaging: Almost borderline impossible to repackage if you have to move or re-sale. 2. They're more expensive than licensed pieces. 3. Shipping is murder. 4. Overall its a risk. Do you even get the statue? If it breaks, you're probably screwed. etc
Really interesting video about a side of collecting I don't know much about. Nicely educational. Just wondering if there's a way to talk more about how the ecosystem works (without going into details that gets you or the Custom makers into trouble). I suspect its all on private facebook groups. Either way - cheers for an interesting video!
Great video! I got into two custom pieces thanks to you sharing your custom statue collection. I’m waiting on a sick (fingers crossed) Venom vs Carnage one and a dope as hell Batman in Hellbat armor. Like you said it’s definitely a risk, but sometimes the custom piece is just worth taking that risk 😆😆😆!
Even though those chances are low of it going down that route of customs is safe to say you’ve put me off them, hopefully the next vid changes my mind 😅
I own a couple of custom statues and they do look great in my collection, but they still don’t seem worth the risks or the increased costs compared to licensed pieces. There are enough risks with licensed companies, but the channels of communication seem more legit and straightforward, whereas you might be dealing with multiple shady people or scammers who ghost you when you have problems with your custom statue. Just not worth the drama, especially when characters keep being repeated over and over again. Why fight over a cool Wolverine or Jubilee when it will just collect dust and take up space after the hype wears down?
Ive only bought one custom which was a life size Groot bust and it was a smooth transaction. I guess the chubby superman and batman may be considered customs too. Sometimes its better then licensed and then sometimes you get porked.
1st and foremost my first piece of advice from a collector was bro are u sure you want to go down this rabbit hole. And I laughed and he laughed. Called him a month later said dam it im on my 7th piece. Felt like ash in pokemon Gota have all gotta have em all. Love the videos Mr X GOD BLESS ALL YOU IN CHAT AND YOUR FAMILIES IN JESUS NAME REMEMBER THAT TOMMROW NEVWR PROMISED SONTELL AND SHOW YOUR LOVED ONES U LOVE THEM ITS FREE.
The main reason I don’t buy custom statues is because I don’t (and refuse to) have a Facebook account. So I am not part of any collectors groups which is where you usually get connected to buy these custom statues. But your other reasons listed are real concerns I have as well.
I'm not worried about buying statues i can't afford them i collect 1/6scale figures which cost more then there worth but i enjoy doing it thanks for the video
Hell I can't even get statues from legitimate statue builders, I purchased a death dealer statue from level 52 . The due date well over a year ago and it's been pushed back three perhaps four times already, no newsletter or emails ever suggesting a distribution date. Still being sold on sideshow and 52s website. Should you have any information , you or your viewers, please pass along. Don't own any customs, because I've learned from you, the wait time would give me stomach ulcers.
Main reason is, because they're not licensed, it's literally a gamble. If something goes wrong, you're REALLY not guaranteed anything in terms of replacement or compensation...
The high price and shipping for customs is definitely one of the reasons I would avoid them BUT a big one for me that I’ve noticed with a majority of customs is paint. A lot of the paint looks like that glossy cheap paint from dollar store toys and they look really bad.
There's 1,001 reasons not to buy/ collect most of the things that humans do, but only one reason is needed to justify our habits: we love it 👏🤣 Great video Mr. X 👍
So true and well said.
I back this
Shipping is my biggest issue. Pay for sea and it takes half a year. Pay for air and it costs as much as the statue.
I’m new to this, got my first statue last week and I already ordered 2 more. I love this lol
This whole segment screams Fighr Club. You are part of a secret underground organization. You had a fight with yourself in the begining of the video and with my glasses of you kinda look like a young Brad Pit. Very cool Mr. X, very cool.
Haha… love this channel …. A+. Short, sweet, blunt, to the point lol
My biggest concern is being ripped off. Only happened to me once so far.
I actually didn’t
The Xtreme Channel sorry I get carried away ☺️
The dichotomy of X. Looking forward to the contrasting video.
Hi, great video. I recently got into making custom statues. They are a great hobby and love printing and painting them. Maybe some day I can send you one for a review.
Thanks for the very informative video. Everything you mentioned is very true.
Really Liked and appreciate you making this LIST. There's a lot of good info here !
Look forward to the follow up customs vid Mr X- intro was hilarious 🤣
I don't even know who to go to for custom statues. Lol
Great video, I appreciated your insight into that world I am not familiar with. Question, are those garage shelves? I thought you were only into Moducase? Do you have an updated video on your htoughts on shelve and display options? Pros and cons? Moducase vs. Garage Shelves? Thank you !
It’s not updated but there is a video on shelving options that includes everything I currently use.
very funny intro! 4. "Broked" is that a word. i agree with the list, but you have gotten a lot of pretty awesome ones i still would like to own at least 1.

I enjoy your vids. I like how you don't take yourself to seriously.
Great video and information. I’ve been think about starting a collection.
I like the fact how you honestly speak your mind . You make great videos
Mr. X, laying the smack down of truths on our beloved hobby!
Like yourself, I’m one of 40 who has the Knull.
Keep your honest good videos up! 🙌💯
Thanks for all the information, great vid!
I'm looking to pick up my first custom. I'm anxious about it but it's so bad ass looking. Thanks for the information. I'm sure I'll talk myself into it🤣

This video is perfect! I vote that you definitely argue w yourself more, that was absolute statue collector gold!
Love the info, much insight
Thanks for the heads-up, I do not own a custom… yet lol
Between laughing and 100% true 😄 Mr X always on point ! 💪😎❤️✊👊
Lol Mr X calling Mr X “Asshole”
He is
Great video for FAQ. Thanks for the video Mr.X.

I haven’t bought a custom statue yet but I am little hesitant for reason you covered in this video.
"sometimes I want some of their fucking statues" had me bawling
Great video, wanna see the top 10 reason to buy! Merryx christmas!
I love the self-dialogue. I do the same thing constantly. .
My two biggest hold ups on custom pieces is the price and fear of being ripped off. Heck, I get paranoid when CGC or Tsume take so long to send out updates

This is a pretty good list, well thought out. I've still switched over to mostly customs.
I appreciate the similarities you highlighted between buying custom & license statues each has risk and rewards. In the end some people are comfortable with exploring shopping options and therefore have greater variety in their collections. Plus, it's cool that you are willing to share your experiences😁 educational + entertaining 🙌😎
Thank you Mr.X for this educational video, it is very opening eyes
The high risk and high cost and the shipping is just out of control even with sideshow prices 🙃

I rarely watch. Even when I’m editing
I know you couldn't do it but a list of your top custom groups would be awesome
Members only vid maybe.
As someone whose new to statue collecting this video was incredibly helpful. I tend to stick to licensed. Ive only dipped my foot into the rabbit hole that is customs. I do love that they make lesser known characters though.
A very comprehensive list, but I agree with some of your statements Mr. X… Several of my all-time favorite collectibles are custom.
When I first started statue collecting there was a spawn custom statue that I wanted man it was a beautiful piece I believe gem mint was the first to review it I would have loved to got my hands on it but apparently a lot of people got screwed over on it

Well said
I would be devastated if I was ripped off or even just "let down" from a custom sellers support after spending the big bucks.
I am still waiting for my custom apocalypse there is supposed to be giving us the shipping information soon and some people are worried about how much it’s going to cost your speculations that’ll be $800 plus
I’ve ordered a few customs now and I’d have to agree with you. I’d have to say that my customs are my fave tho lol
Informative video. I own 4 custom statues. My big reasons: 1. Packaging: Almost borderline impossible to repackage if you have to move or re-sale. 2. They're more expensive than licensed pieces. 3. I made a video a few years back that upset some fan boys so it’s no longer up
@@TheXtremeChannelMrX this is why we can't have nice things....
Have you reviewed SDZ Studios?
I haven’t. I was eyeing their king Thanos statue but missed out
Great video! I got into two custom pieces thanks to you sharing your custom statue collection. I’m waiting on a sick (fingers crossed) Venom vs Carnage one and a dope as hell Batman in Hellbat armor. I can't get near these groups that are producing this stuff. Guess I'm not cool enough. Always enjoy your videos and like always very cool 😎
I own a couple of custom statues and they do look great in my collection, but they still don’t seem worth the risks or the increased costs compared to licensed pieces. Statue came broke and paint wrecked. Seller offered to replace at my cost to ship back and ship again
I have seen a few custom statues that i am dying to order but I haven't jump into Custom statues, maybe some day.
Reason #11: not knowing who’s balls to massage to get on that order list for a custom statue
Thanks for all the information on Custom Statues. Keep it going 👍🙂
Great video 👌
10… twice? Or is it just me? But I get it. Good video as always.
Ive only bought one custom which was a life size Groot bust and it was a smooth transaction. I guess the chubby superman and batman may be considered customs too. Sometimes its better then licensed and then sometimes you get porked.
Mr X Did you do a Superman hush review?
Yes. A few years ago
1st and foremost my first piece of advice from a collector was bro are u sure you want to go down this rabbit hole. And I laughed and he laughed. Called him a month later said dam it im on my 7th piece. Felt like ash in pokemon Gota have all gotta have em all.
Love the videos Mr X
GOD BLESS ALL YOU IN CHAT AND YOUR FAMILIES IN JESUS NAME

I know exactly what you mean. I fell down the same rabbit hole.
Every time you mention the astronomical shipping prices of most of your custom statues I move farther away from getting into the custom game 😂
Telling it how it is. Good stuff
The main reason I don’t buy custom statues is because I don’t (and refuse to) have a Facebook account. So I am not part of any collectors groups which is where you usually get connected to buy these custom statues. But your other reasons listed are real concerns I have as well.
Such a an epic intro as always ❤️ Ya
I have bought about 6 customs and been ripped off once, definitely a risk, I have one of PO most likely my last, shipping in COVID is insane
Very true and informative
I'm not worried about buying statues i can't afford them i collect 1/6scale figures which cost more then there worth but i enjoy doing it thanks for the video
As a fan of the characters, I’d rather put my money back into the machine that reinvests to keep them evergreen.
Hell I can't even get statues from legitimate statue builders, I purchased a death dealer statue from level 52 . I was in the custom statue community for DBZ…way too toxic. Main reason I only do licensed
Main reason is, because they're not licensed, it's literally a gamble. If something goes wrong, you're REALLY not guaranteed anything in terms of replacement or compensation...
Reasons to buy custom statues: ATF exists and makes better shit than literally anybody else
The high price and shipping for customs is definitely one of the reasons I would avoid them BUT a big one for me that I’ve noticed with a majority of customs is paint. A lot of the paint looks like that glossy cheap paint from dollar store toys and they look really bad.
Good use of the word “plethora”. Let’s bring this word back to the vernacular. Merry Christmas 🎄
Fortunatly I havent had any custom issues, I have only been part of about 10 though.
Good tips!
Very good info
Good info MrX id never buy one anyway but thanks 😊
I’ll just watch your channel for all the customs lol
I"ve got my first custom statue on the way.. fingers crossed
Which one?
Shipping is the reason I don't like customs.🤷♂️
