Best take-away for me, from this video was "Try it for one night in your driveway"...makes a lot of sense! No need to panic if you don't like it, just get up and go inside your house. Thanks so much! 💚😊💚
@@pamelavalente3731 We did this in the back yard but with the tent. We found a covered platform with water and electric for tents only at a state park. This is the video I was looking for! I just bought an SUV and I decided I’m using it for what it was intended. I car camped really really like embarrassingly close to my house last night but I’m super proud of myself and I want to push myself to do more a bit at time. Thanks for this!
Traci Reeves, it gets better. Use what you have to start with. I started out in a Cheverlot Spark unplanned as my tent flooded out. Then this car camping became a thing. When I upgraded to MPV I thought that was it, but car turned out to be a Lemon. Now I am in small SUV. Best sleep was in Cheverlot because it was back to basics and I made it work with what I had. I have changed my set up now constantly and now love my set up in my SUV. If you are just starting out it’s best to just go very basic and close to home so you can see what it is you NEED. I have moved things around in my Traverse each time finding where it works best. One item I purchased for my car was a 12v rice cooker. I can cook while I drive or when I get to my location. It saves me fuel. Even good for just heating water if needed. One of the best $30 or so I have spent for my car other than a battery jumper. :)
@dianeschmiane Yeah, I found videos of a woman who used a biscuit to cook pizza in it. I made other than rice dishes also. Great for road trips even if not car camping
What a refreshing video, with a beautiful and friendly lady who, unlike so many people who make videos of this type, spend their time showing us the endless amount of things that, according to them, are necessary to carry in the car, 1001 gadgets , most of them useless or of little use. One more essential: light. Although your cell phone could, at a minimum, provide that. (water bottle set on top of your cell phone's flashlight? Good except for the lack of a map and compass. Some areas you wont get cell phone coverage so sat navs wont work either. And learn how to navigate using map and compass. Its easy.
I went no one had just a car. I put out a tent and used it for changing etc... no privacy, people go to meet up. They must have houses and don't go for peace and the forest
The thumbnail suggests that you only need 6 items to go camping. I think I counted 100 items by the end of the video. Haha. I think you meant 6 categories rather than items. A camp stove isn't a bad idea either. Might be better to cook some good food rather than suggesting that junk food could be an option. Unless you are camping near your home or a town, your phone will be useless, so don't forget to take detailed maps with you. Or , if you can afford it, satellite navigation. Water storage is another consideration. Spares for your vehicle. It goes on and on if you want to 8:28 have a pleasant camping experience. Oh! And don't forget camp lighting and torches.
A small solution is an Anker battery with a USB recharger that will charge your phone a handful of times, and the large solution is a Jackery portable power station that will charge your phone for many days. I think the smallest version is 300 watts (mine is 1000 watts and so far has been more than I need, but I like to be prepared): Jackery Solar Power Station: amzn.to/3xJQXZX
Thanks for your thought, but TP doesn't degrade fast enough. I just got back from a week long trip in various places and found close to a dozen TP wads in the bushes during my travels.
There are car camping toilets. Some small enough to use in the car, some you put outside. Check out a Luggable Loo; that, some trash bags and some clumping cat litter, and off you go!

Perfect tips 🎉
Thanks
I went no one had just a car. I put out a tent and used it for changing etc... no privacy, people go to meet up. They must have houses and don't go for peace and the forest
That's one reason I love wild camping on public land with no one else around, nobody bothers me... :)
How do keep my car battery from dying while i keep my trunk open ?
I set the trunk lights/interior car lights to not come on when I open the door, check your car's user manual to see if you can do that... :)
You will definitely end up smelling yourself if you car camp. It can get kinda rough ..... but it's fun!
LOL, yes, that's why I looooove wet wipes so much!
Support local stores.
Sorry, you did mention taking a stove.
I want to go so bad!
I guess you also need something to charge your phone. What do you recommend?
A small solution is an Anker battery with a USB recharger that will charge your phone a handful of times, and the large solution is a Jackery portable power station that will charge your phone for many days. I think the smallest version is 300 watts (mine is 1000 watts and so far has been more than I need, but I like to be prepared): Jackery Solar Power Station: amzn.to/3xJQXZX

I have never had any success with any inflatable mattress. Has anyone?
I've used Thermarest inflatable mattresses out backpacking for years. I love them for that purpose, but much prefer a real foam mattress.
👍😊❣️
Poor Dan, you used him as the overly complicated guy?! lol
Very respectfully, I passionately disagree with packing out toilet paper. It degrades fast, and wasting a plastic bag is really not eco friendly :(
Thanks for your thought, but TP doesn't degrade fast enough. I just got back from a week long trip in various places and found close to a dozen TP wads in the bushes during my travels.
I'm with you. I need to be comfortable and have a toilet! And I don't mean a hole-in-the-ground girlfriend! >u
There are car camping toilets. Some small enough to use in the car, some you put outside. Check out a Luggable Loo; that, some trash bags and some clumping cat litter, and off you go!
I rather sleep in the back of my car.
That was a long list....
