LOL. We used the insults on each other and recess and then we broke down laughing because, it's stupid and they are funny. I miss this sense of humor where people weren't so pathetic, weak-willed, and easily offended.
They literally tried canceling married with children and not even for the jokes but for the themes involved.. they ignored the attempt to cancel them... that is the only real difference... you can easy make z show lime this today upu just have to so what they did and ignore the karen-critics.
Exactly ! Now younger people watch these shows and they're like " they were allowed to say this" and " Can't believe they could say that on prime time" ..oh yes they could, they did ,and we laughed...EVERYBODY DID!
Just like In Living Color......so far ahead of it's time....no woke or pc shit.....just some of the best writing in history......made fun of EVERYONE and EVERYTHING!!!
We don't need another series like married with children. We have married with children. I don't want Hollywood to remake married with children, bc they'll ruin it too.
Ed O'NEILL (Al Bundy) actually played college football for Youngstown State as a defensive lineman. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers competing against the likes of Mean Joe Green and L.C. Greenwood. He didn't make the team but he became friends with Terry Bradshaw, who made several appearances on Married With Children. 🤫🤔🤣🥴
I didn't know that Ed O,Neill was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers coming out of Youngstown State University as a linebacker but that was a great story
Al had a red 1965 mustang convertible and that is the car he is referring to. There was a whole episode about him going on a quest to get a part he needed to complete the restoration, which I think was an ashtray.
Reminds me of the joke in Cheers where a guy says to Sam about his relationship with Diane, roughly, "I get along better with my ex-wife, and we've exchanged gunfire!"
@@Nerple he was doing theatre, but they had someone else in mind. One producer (I think it was he said) said they needed to check him out. Ed came in and patterned the character after an uncle of his who he said was just like the MWC character.
I remember once in high school, we had an annual boys vs girls rally. The girls would take it easily, but someone got the idea to introduce the boys to NO MA'AM, and I'm happy to say we scored one for the brotherhood that year.
I loved the way Peggy was always able to bust Al’s balls with just the right comeback. You could tell deep down he would have been lost without her. What a great series.
This was so great. Miss it today. One of the best shows at the time. Theres no tv like this today. Miss that things could be laughed at and not took seriously .😊😊😊😊😊
It’s unfortunate that we live in an age where people can’t handle that humor. In fact, that show arrived at the end of a similar age where that comedy wouldn’t have been tolerated for the polar opposite faction. You know it’s a great show when it offends everyone from every previous AND post generation. Wild.
Married with children was made during the time where there was a perfect family show that made us irregular families feel inadequate. When this show came along, it made the imperfect families feel alot better for a family that we could relate to.
The days when we weren't artificial and scared, looking around first to see who might be watching before we laughed. We just laughed and were happy for at least that little moment. Happy was nice. (It still is.)
That "let me get this straight, pardon the expression" is so simplistic and great.. I can't believe I never heard it anywhere else before in that particular way.
I love it guys, the shows you're bringing here, from my past! We live in such a "woke", "say my pronoun" environment now, just things that we could watch 10 years ago, would never fly now! My favorite show from back in the day was Sanford and Son, and yes, I'm white, lol! But half that shit, that Fred would say to Aunt Esther, you could never get away with today... But only in syndication! "Hey I'm going to roll your face around in some dough, and make some Gor***** cookies! He was a true treasure! 😂
The script had all those complaints about his wife, but Kate Seagal decided to wear tight outfits and nice makeup making a contrast with what was written, but the original idea of the script was not showing him complaining while having a nice life and a beautiful wife, just Kate is a beautiful woman who wanted to portray a wife in a nicer style than the script.
theres way worse shit thn this now, the whole "couln't do this now" thing is bullshit. you can, people do, then raise a middle finger to the offended babies who have no sway on those who give no fucks.
I absolutely loved this show growing up because of how perfect Ed O'Neill's delivery was on the insults and jokes. Surprisingly even now as an adult the jokes hold up even though they are cheesy lol 😂.
You gotta realize, this was basically on the tail end of the wholesome Cosby Show's run and came out of nowhere. It was frickin hilarious the first time too. We even had Al Bundy conversations during the week and laughed our asses off until the next one.
That or Comedy Central next to South Park which may even exceed Married With Children in outrage as they’re not only savage with obesity and Cartman but absolutely brutal with religion too, particularly the Latter Day Saints (Mormon) Church and Scientology.
I always thought it was funny that "The Dodge" was actually a Plymouth Duster. So even though it was referred to as "The Dodge", it wasn't actually a Dodge, but still a Mopar so close 🤣
We were lucky enough that this was shown here in the UK in the late 1980's. Triggers happy memories of those times. I have my issues with one or two aspects of American culture, but I have to say the US knocks it out the park regarding half-hour sitcoms - Sgt Bilko, MASH, Mork&Mindy, Taxi, Cheers, Friends, Married With, 3rd Rock, Scrubs, Big Bang, etc etc
People today don't realize that the best comedy has a foundation in reality. Back when this show was popular, Obesity was much rarer than it is today. More to the point, most people were okay with the fact that savage jokes like those often helped people to realize when they had a problem and motivated them to change. "Fat acceptance" has led obesity to become a major medical heath crisis today.
I was born in 1980 and my parents didn't allow my brother or me to watch MWC when it first came on, yet somehow we did. When the show went off the air, I was a teenager, and they didn't care by then. My mother, brother and I still quote the show regularly, and my dad also did until he died.
I loved this show as a little kid, but I didn't understand any of it either. I loved Al, and used to imitate the way he tucks his hand in his pants, and used to impersonate Peg saying "Al" in that whiny voice of hers. And I also liked Bud, because that's a family nickname for me. And a scene that burnt into my memory as a kid was one towards the end of an episode where their house was freezing. Bud's toes were breaking off because they were frozen, and the thought of that weirded me out. I finally rewatched most of the series as an adult when it used to come on at like 4 or 6am on TBN (I think). Then I finally understood it and loved it.
😂😂😂 Al is so damn funny. Back then no one got offended. It was just good old comedy and fun. I loved that show. No feelings were hurt. Everyone was laughing. It was great times back then.

I agree I grew up in the 80s watching married with children. The best tv show ever and al was brutal especially to marcy
Agree
We don't need another series like married with children. We have married with children. I don't want Hollywood to remake married with children, bc they'll ruin it too.
That's a fact!! They have zero original ideas and so they remake everything woke! No humor at all!
No kidding. Whatever they do, it will NEVER be even 1% as good/funny as the original.
Dead-on!
@@suecook1326Al is basically the antithesis of Woke. Marcy was sort of woke

Yes he's a hero here ( in Youngstown area) as is David Grohl of Foo Fighters ? From not far from Yongstown , Warren, Ohio
He was also drafted by the Steelers and didn't make.the team. He tried out the same time Terry Bradshaw was there

Al Bundy was savage. With our whiny crybaby society we have now a great series like this could never air. Sad days😢😢
😂😂😂😂💀!
He had a brown Dodge and than he said that he had a red Dodge once, it turns out it was the same Dodge once he washed all the dirt off 😂
And the car they used on the show was a Plymouth i believe.
They used 3 different cars, none were actually a Dodge. All three cars were Plymouth Dusters.

Oh ya
They also worked in the writers room

Married With Children should be shown in every school to the students. It's the greatest educational show ever made.
Fun fact, the gay guy is played by Dan Castellaneta who is the voice of Homer Simpson (the simpsons)
And was also in the Tracey Ullman show, where the Simpsons started out as quick interludes.

Ed O'Neil is a comic genius. It always blew my mind how he could deliver his lines and completely keep a straight face.
"With every bullet so far...."
The joke that as a kid I realized how great the show was. I remember laughing so hard I thought I'd have to go to the hospital.
