A Day in Klaipėda (Memel) | Lithuania - Baltic Sea with Helsinki | Mein Schiff 6 in July 2023

Today Mein Schiff 6 is docked in Klaipėda and we take a boat out to the Curonian Lagoon and then go on a city tour.

Today Mein Schiff 6 is docked in Lithuania in the port city of Klaipėda (formerly Memel). One of the main sights of this city is certainly the Curonian Lagoon, which is separated from the Baltic Sea by the Curonian Spit. Seemingly endless sandy beach with a wild dune landscape right behind it. Not for nothing, UNESCO has declared the entire lagoon a World Heritage Site. The Parnidis Dune (High Dune) on the Curonian Spit is the largest shifting sand dune in Europe. We take a bus to Minija (formerly also Mingė or Minė, German Minge), where we board a small excursion boat to explore the Curonian Lagoon from the water side. After a round trip through the Memel delta and across the Curonian Lagoon we return to Klaipėda, where we continue our excursion with a city tour. Later, we enjoy some Lithuanian specialties (all made from potatoes) before heading back aboard Mein Schiff 6.
This video belongs to the tour "Baltic Sea with Helsinki", on which we have been traveling with Mein Schiff 6 in July 2023. The trip leads from Kiel via Gdansk, Klaipėda, Visby, Riga, Helsinki, Tallinn and Stockholm back to Kiel. A really great tour.
