    Great info! I did everything you said and worked great. Now I cannot figure out how to turn it into a Timelapse in the insta 360 Studio. You have any info for this. TIA

    I guess my question is what do you do after waiting for an hour or two after shooting with this mode? Do I have to use an editing app to stitch them together?

    I'm about to test out these settings. I noticed none of your responses to comments are showing up... They did the last time i watched the video.... Oh well. Hope this works. Every other time i tried my camera locked up 😂

      That’s strange that none of the responses were showing 😂 Did your camera do what it needed to this time around?

      I still can't see your replies. But I do remember reading the notification at the time. It worked out much better this time. Only problem I had was the external power bank. The settings you recommended were on point! 💯

    I don't understand why use a 30 second interval with a 30 second shutter speed & a 10 second interval with a 10 seconds shutter speed. The interval is the time between end and start of exposures, not the time between start of exposures - is it not?
    I just tried my RS last night with 30 second exposures & 3 second intervals, worked good.

      RawTherapee and DaVinci Resolve (the free version) is a combo that will get the job done.

    Also thanks for the great channel and sharing such useful informations; I have a litte "dilemma"; I am looking forward to buy the GoPro 10 or the new insta360 one rs; The Focus will be also on timelapse, during the night; So you compared the two cameras, what's your conclusion? The new one rs with the one inch mod? Thank you

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  2 роки тому

      Great question. I still like the night lapse results best on the GoPro Hero 10 of the two. They look a bit better with less hot pixels.

      @@GreatDayForAHike thanks for the very quick respone, despite the bigger sensor of the new one rs and bigger photo resolution ( maybe more flexibility in post ) and the possibility to use the one inch mod you would choose the gopro; you mentioned the hot pixel, is it a big issue? thanks again umd thumb ups for your channel;

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  2 роки тому

      The one inch lens mod is worth testing out as this would potentially yield better results on the Insta360 One RS. My tests were with the $299 4K model. I noticed some hot pixels similar to what I had seen on the Hero 8 and Hero 9 with night lapses but have not seen on the Hero 10 so far.
      Thank you for your support!

      One more question, did you have any heating issues? also on the gopro 10? i am still reading about issues with the gopro 10 but the insta360 one rs performs very well or? you also shoot some timelapse sessions on the gopro 10, was this during the whole night?

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  2 роки тому

      Great question. I did not have any overheating issues with the Insta360 One RS. I have not with the GoPro Hero 10 either with the exception of when I tested it indoors and stationary to see how long it would take until it overheated. That was simply for testing purposes.

    I have the One R. On night lapses, the delay between long exposure shots is nearly one minute. That means the timelapses suck.
    Do you know how quickly the One RS can take a photo after, say, a thirty second exposure?
    It should only be a second or tw for good timelapses...

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  Рік тому

      There is a bit less of a delay on the RS from what I have noticed, but there is still the delay.

    The nightlapse at the beginning of the video . Was that taken on the 4k boost mod ?

    Hi, photos shooting in photo mode are not recognized as starlapse. How can i use the pics to edit in starlapse with the insta app??

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  Рік тому

      I’m not sure if the Insta app is capable of stitching these together into a night lapse. I have not found the capability to do so in the app. You would likely need to use a video editing app on a computer to do so.

    Thanks for the information. I followed these instructions to the letter with my Insta360 RS and 4k boost lens. I was dealing with no moon and a dark sky. So i went with 30 1/30 my results were disappointing the jpg's were black and the raw files had no detail just an extensive amount of grain with no detail in the sky. Same camera, same settings, same conditions i should be getting simular results.

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  9 місяців тому +1

      If you selected 1/30 for your shutter speed, this would be the problem. In this video I set my shutter speed to 30s which is 30 seconds. 1/30 is one thirtieth of a second and will not be a slow enough shutter speed to let in enough light for a night lapse.

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  9 місяців тому +1

      Choosing 30s will resolve this for you.

    Should I use 3200K WB for a sunrise or should I do something higher since the scene will get brighter?

    • @GreatDayForAHike

      6500K white balance tends to work best for sunrise and sunset colors.

    In terms of hours. How much time this camera can make a nightlapse only with native battery ?

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  2 роки тому +1

    What are those stars that don't seem to move?

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  2 роки тому

      Those are hot pixels and this is due to the limitations of the sensor on the camera. Some of the older GoPro cameras would also do this with night lapses. So far, the GoPro Hero 10 is the only action camera I have used that doesn’t do hot pixels.

    What sucks about Insta360 is what they call an "interval". Interval in EVERY OTHER CAMERA is the time between shutter clicks. Insta calls "interval" the number of seconds after the end of the exposere length.
    So if you set the "interval to 30 seconds, and you have a 30 second expsure, and a 30 second interval, the time between shots is actually 1 minute, with a "dark time" of 30 seconds. That makes the timelapse jeky and unusable..

    • @_Stargazer_.
      @_Stargazer_. 2 роки тому

      Wouldn't the dark time be about 30 secs again ? A long exposure click with shutter open for 30 secs . Then 30 secs interval to the shutter opening again for the next click . Also , didn't you try with a 10 sec interval ?

    • @ravenseyeimages
      @ravenseyeimages 5 місяців тому +1

      I set the interval to 5 or 10 seconds for a 30 second exposure, a 30 second interval really serves no purpose. My GoPro & CHDK Canon cameras are the same, interval means time between exposures, not time between shutter clicks.
