Alan Lancaster 7/02/1949 - 26/09/2021 Bassist/Singer/Songwriter/ Producer/Genius of STATUS QUO fame, has died aged 72 of Multiple Sclerosis at his Sydney home, surrounded by his family. Born in London, he moved to Australia in 1976 after marrying his beautiful wife Dayle. Alan wrote and co-wrote many classic Rock songs The 9 1/2 minute Psych/Rock song "Is It Really Me, Gotta Go Home" was written by the Genius of Alan Charles Lancaster. Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon album 1970 on the Astor / Pye Label. Produced by the late / great John Schroeder. Anyone who met Nuff would know first hand what a beautiful, sweet and charming gentleman he was. I had the pleasure of socialising with Alan at a few gigs in the late 80's, at some of his gigs with The Lancaster Bombers and The Lancaster / Brewster Band and The Party Boys, the latter having 2 Chart Topping Hits. " Hold Your Head Up " by Argent and " He's Gonna Step On You Again " by John Kongos. Alan produced a multi-platinum selling album for Pianist Roger Woodward.
It must have been one hell of a great and historic moment for Francis, Rick, Alan and John when they walked on the stage that night. I was there the following night due to tickets for the first night selling out. I am one of millions of fans who missed out on the original Frantic Four due to being too young. I can't even put it into words how much it meant to me .to be there watching Francis and Rick on stage with Alan and John and not forgetting Bob Young as well. An event I never thought would ever happen. Had a big grin on my face throughout the whole gig.
Saturday nights gig at Hammy this vid,the crowd was amazing even on the balcony, proper QUO army was reunited that night. Band wasnt too shabby either .
Wow rock n roll...saw them at the Manchester Frantic Four gig and also at Deeside Leisure Centre 1980 and 81 before they split from the original Quo we knew, and another 70 odd times in between. Hammersmith run 1984 was special when they played for seven straight nights, the last night the Sunday was a three hour show, unforgettable. Also unforgettable were Milton Keynes 84, St. Georges Hall 86, Heritage Hotel 2009 and Curragh Race course 2010. The last two smaller venues mentioned were quite special to experience...
Forever best weekend of my life. It was like christmas and eastern at the same day, so we call it in Germany if you can't beat a feeling.😂 All around this 2 nights were magic (FF, Pubs, Fans,Coverbands, London,Hammersmith and Guiness Ice cold😂🍺Thank you all🙏
Right at the end of this clip does Rossi call the fans ''liars''? I was there that night and if that is what he's saying then he's right. I don't forgive him and now I don't have to. God bless Nuff and Spud, RIP Rick.
Well the anti quo put stop to other tours happening...i wasnt at any of frantic four due to ticket availability(0).Rick really wanted to and so did nuff and spud...but now Ricks gone my loyalty to band has gone..carry on country! Rossi
Shame it can't ever happen again with Rick gone .Rossi did not come out of this well. Spud and Lanc were never ever replaced in following line ups, no disrespect to Rhino et al and now Rossi thinks HE is Status Quo. Give up man. Much as I love Geraint Watkins you can't be serious peddling this accoustic / country crap.
RIP Alan..thanks for the music..thanks for the entertainment.

Only one
Alan seems tired, he looks like Phil Taylor before he dies.
