Very good videos. I've been binge watching the last 10 or so episodes, please keep them coming. Thank you for not blaring real train horns or making a completely silent video. The narration is awesome
Very NICE video Mr. Daryl! Can't wait to see how Rochelle turns out! Love the real life video you took too! Very nice!!! Feel special about that warehouse kit you have that those guys went out of business. It's rarities like that that make a layout look good and unique!
You are doing an awesome job with your layout. I haul out of Rochelle Global 3 and the Tomy warehouse west of Rochelle frequently so I can identify all your buildings and landmarks. Love the Rochelle overpass you built. Great work.
Thanks for sharing. I truly enjoyed this one. Looking forward to seeing the next two with the switching. Adding the real shots was a good touch. Thanks again.
Daryl, Just smoooth as custard, nicely done. The yard I follow the switcher sort of fussy's around the yard keeping all it's charges tuked up and safe. Then it's whole personality changes when a new train arrives, now it's like a monster that's been disturbed from the deep. boy you wouldn't want to get in it's way. Shunting speed: normally 10 m.p.h. but when the switcher is reversing a few 1000 ft. of cars it quickly starts up and gets to 12/15 miles an hour and as soon as the whole line of cars are moving the loco drops it's speed back to normal. this all takes place in all of 4/5 loco length's. For the oil facility, it's normally overhead pipes. Cheers, chris Perry.
I think the kit you referenced was by Nucomp. They also made some very nice trailer house models on HO and N scale. Inhave one of this same model and wish I could get another one.
Daryl, I enjoyed this switching video a lot.. as stated previous the narration is really good and I like your idea of doing a progression video of the next pickup of these lifted cars and then the return trip of the next cars to spot. It would give a more in depth view of how your car forwarding system works.
Interesting, I've never heard of BJR. I am planning to keep the layout to about 2008-2014. 2008 is when the layout was begun and 2014 is when we moved.
neat stuff. I remember LOTS of trees from the last time I got to spend time at the Rochelle RR Park. Between the trees and the pole line it was a bit harder to shoot the BNSF line than the UP. Trivial thing to add to the "to do" list - the BNSF 6700 series are occupied by ES44C4s now, the SD40-2s are in the 1500 - 1700 number series, some repainted, some patched. In my area (eastern NE) one can still catch the occasional ex-ATSF motor still working in its blue/yellow paint job with a BNSF patch numbering.
good work Daryl. I see videos on Virtual Railfan of this operation. Recently Cold Connect has bought Cryo Cold and Total Logistics Control in Rochelle and with the expansion of Global 3 and the Rochelle logistics park there will be more reefers coming into Rochelle in the future.
Daryl you have a Great Layout it was a Joy to watch all of it, on the Switcher I've got the Kato Santa Fe Locomotive 5073 with Ditch Lights that KATO Engine Runs so Smooth it's crazy you can barely hear it Running.. I've Got Several KATO's that I've had for about 5 years and I thought for a change I'd try another Brand Atlas I bought to 2 Santa Fe GP39-2 one in the Bluebonnet and 1 in the Kodachrome there not Bad but on both Engines there Axles are smidge out Gauge according to the NMRA standards and the Wheel width is a smidge wider than Any of my KATO's you can tell it when they Go through some of my KATO #6 Turnouts.. it causes them to slow Down but it's not to terrible.. But what I wanted to Ask on your Intermodal Cars or Sets who Makes them Deryl they do look sharp I think a set like them would work well on my D.M.R.R Layout.. Thanks for Time Reading and cant wait to see more Videos..
Is there any way you could do a video showing the system you use to automate the trains you let run in the background? I'd love to know more about how it works. IE, is jmri involved, what dcc system your using, how you tie it all together. Thank you.
There's not any automation. The railroad is double track all the way around and through the staging yard forming a complete double track loop. I just set the speeds and let them go. Of course, I have to be paying attention and manually route the trains around my train if I am on a mainline track. All adds t the fun.
No, I use computer printouts of train lists and car movement instructions. The printout are generated by a QBASIC program I wrote. A lot of the videos include the printouts, although this one did not. More information is on my blog at genevasub.blogspot.com
Daryl I do this on my Union Pacific Spokane layout ho scale lots work be on my layout trains coming from Pasco Tacoma Union Pacific trains hinklie and nampa
Amazing looking layout, but why do the trains move so slow? When I was a kid my trains would go much faster, are they just not as good/robust as they use to be? Again amazing,.. Thanks for sharing,
Operators, such as Daryl, try to run trains at prototype speeds, not like you remember zooming your trains around the layout. It takes longer this way and adds to the enjoyment. Why not give it a try.

Mike Land I agree!! The narration is great and overall very relaxing and interesting. Really adds to what we are watching.
great video!! nice to see that little BNSF switcher in action!!
The trains in the background on the main lines really make the scenes seem even more realistic and interesting. Great touch!
Awesome job Darrell really great video I love switching operations and can't wait to see more on your layout, Gary
Another great video Daryl. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Bob
I look forward to these videos. Thank you for continuing to make and share them.

Thanks! I really appreciate your comments as someone who works the prototypes.
Spot on with realism! Alway slow down and take your time switching, makes it more realistic. Great job!- Joey

Think they went by Nu-Line too didn't they? They were great kits.
@@thesuneversets You are right, it was Nu-Line. I still have the box to this exact kit.
I said the warehouse was there only kit. Wrong. In fact I have a couple of the trailer houses that they also made.
Great ops session, really enjoyed it.

This is amazing it makes me want to get my layout back out and build upon it! Thank you for sharing this.
Good luck with the layout and have fun!
That was a great layout you have there it looks great and it was good to see it. 👍 👍
Great modelling here👍
Great video. The Burlington Junction Railway is now switching the Delmonte plant and the a lot of the industries on the eastside of Rochelle.

Interesting. The layout is 2008-2014 time period. So I think I'm ok. Also the BNSF switcher should probably be a GP, not an SD.
Another good video. Thanks for sharing.
Looks BNSF single tracked about .5 to .75 north of Steward IL. BNSF veers south out of Rochelle.

Thanks for the information. Most info says Global 3 is closing down. Did not hear about an expansion.

The double stack cars are mostly by Kato and Deluxe Innovations.
Nice video!
Daryl, on Google Earth, it appears that the outer track, closest to the edge of the layout, is the siding.

Do you use car cards & waybills for your operations? Nicely done & progressing nicely! Keep up the good work!

Great answer. Thanks!
Great video as always, what’s the tool you use to uncouple cars? Thanks - Steve
Home made using cheap paint brushes.
Union Pacific Geneva Subdivision nice, thanks for the feedback. Love the channel and layout, keep the videos coming. Thanks!
I love watching your videos you should do a crude oil train in n scale
I have two of them, one in each direction. They are both through trains.
@@EvanstonSub u should do the one goging the other direction that would b cool and good work with the trains
how do you print out the switch list and I been trying to see if I can get my layout up and running
I wrote a QBASIC database program that generates the lists.
