- Dhoka'r Dalna Recipe: A typical Bengali niramish (without onion and garlic) delicacy. The word 'dhoka' means 'betrayal', so this dish is common on days when families eat a vegetarian fare, and trick themselves into believing the lentil cake, made flavourful with spices, coconut, peanuts, etc., is actually meat! 🤷🏽♀️ It is a rather typical Bengali treat, cooked for guests and special occasions.

এই ধোঁকার ডালনা নামটা অনেক আগেই শুনেছি কিন্তু বুঝতাম না ধোঁকা জিনিসটা আসলে কী, বাংলাদেশে এই নাম প্রচলিত না তো, তাই। এখন রেসিপি দেখে বুঝলাম। আমরাও অবশ্য ডাল পিষে সেটার বড়া বানিয়ে ঝোল করে রেঁধে খাই। একটা নতুন রান্না শিখলাম। অনেক ধন্যবাদ আপনাদেরকে রেসিপিটির জন্য। :)

Thanks a Zillion times for the slurry hack. I tried this hack just now. & for the very first time my dhokas did not break.
Till date the dhokas used to come apart & become a halwa. This was the reason I stopped making dhoka at home.
But all thanks to brilliant Bong eats, my dhokas came out absolutely perfect.

Awesome. We have a similar variation in Oriya cooking where we make the same thing with Besan, somewhat like gatte ki sabzi.But I loved the grainy texture that Chana dal would give.

I tried this recipe today... ofcourse I prepared Dhokar dalna many times as this is one of our favourite dishes... today actually I followed your recipe in total... grinding tips, addition of coconut and peanuts and the output was ultimate...it was so yummy...my hubby told me...my cooking is always 10 on 10 but today's Dhokar dalna is 150 out of 💯😂😂😂 Big Thanks to you...
