Hi David, Yep these are great little diesel engines its a shame they are so hard to get, I have one of the red one's the same as the one DeepFriedFuzzball has and there is a couple of issues you have to sort out if you want them to last and not self distruct. One of the major issues with them is the injection timing, my engine was a pig to start when it was hot and used to kick back ripping the pull start out of my hand and when it was running it was very noisy sounding like a jack hammer (diesel knock) out of curiosity i decided to check the injection timing and found that it was injecting at 45 to 50 degrees BTDC!!! I have retarded the injection timing to 10 degrees BTDC by making spacers to fit between the injector pump and crankcase to raise the pump by about 2mm there are timing marks on the flywheel that you can use to set the injection timing obviously the manufacturers are not doing this (as long as it runs sell it!!) my engine now starts and runs perfectly and is half as noisy also with less exhaust smoke now too. I have also replaced the air filter as this was on a self destruct mission with all the fragments being ingested by the engine, cut it off at the base and fitted a K&N clamp on filter onto the intake pipe.
i might have to check the timing on my because it definitely has a knock to it especially being indirect injected. i havent run it much since i got it so hopefully it hasn't put too much stress on anything yet and yes the air filters are junk that come with them i want to say it was a briggs filter that i found that somewhat fit in the factory housing so at least thats fixed for now. thanks for informing me about the timing tho
Hey Cummins274, I just wanted to give you a helpful heads up, just in case you were planning on attaching your engine to anything. I have the same engine, and if you get a chance, carefully measure the shaft of your engine. Mine came out to 20mm shaft. It will not mount to anything that requires 1" or 3/4". I'm planing to use mine for a mini bike, luckily I was able to find a 20mm bore centrifigal clutch for it, and get a spring that allows it to engage at 1500 rpm, but it wasnt exactly easy to find. Just keep that in mind. EVERYTHING is metric on this engine, even the shaft (at least mine is). Just thought I would give you a heads up. If you run into any questions I might be able to help you. I've done hours of searching for usable parts for this engine. P.S. and big tip, search ebay and include 20mm shaft in your search. If you aren't having this issue then disregard this message.
Thanks for the info ill keep that in mind. I took the crank out and had a machine shop turn the crank down to fit 3/4 drive stuff so now i have no problems so far.
@@tuckercole1531 the manual I got with the engine was metric units but after conversion it came out to roughly 25 ft lbs of torque. Thats pretty dang good for an engine this size as far as I'm concerned.
@@tuckercole1531 to be honest, I believe it was a metric sized key because the shaft is 20mm. But I dont remember. The clutch I got for mine already has a key milled into the shaft bore. I did try a standard key and it seemed to fit a little bit but was a little loose. Yes I heard they are now sending them dissasembled because its the only way it will pass through customs because technically they are not legal here in the states. Honestly I dont know if that is true or not. I got mine over a year ago and it was fully assembled. I guess we'll find out. You can let me know on my channel if you like. I have videos of this same engine I put on my channel. What website did you get it through by the way?

I’ve got a YANMAR Single cylinder 219 cc diesel engine I believe it’s only a 4 hp but it runs really really good I just think that design that you have is a better design as far as compact goes Because the one I have is straight up and down it doesn’t slant like that one does I would like to get that style and put it on one of those Coleman little too real motorcycle
Predator 212s are $150 now and these are $260 so now not such a big difference and you will save money by using diesel in the long run explicitly if you use off-road diesel

@@28ebdh3udnav An inboard. Happens all the time. I plan on using a 10 hp...that pulls like a 15 hp gas engine. The boat design I have in mind is a 1909 design and it is designed for a 10 hp gas engine that weighed 500 lbs. This diesel weighs about 100 lbs and has much more power...turns a much bigger prop due to it's much higher torque.
It actually sounds kinda nice, smooth and well running for a small Chinese diesel. I'm actually kind of impressed.
Now wait and see how long that lasts.
