When I saw this episode, I couldn't decide what was more shocking: The fact that Darkness slapped the princess or that she didn't miss.
Im just surprised that Darkness was the only one who didnt break character
Now that you’ve put it like that. Darkness did hit the target although keep in mind that it was not a sword 🤣 still gotta give props to her for standing up for our best boy here.
She does not miss when it is hand to hand, only with the sword her aim is pathetic.
IIRC, Kazuma said multiple times that Darkness and probably even Megumin would be much more reliable in combat if they went in hand to hand combat instead of what they usually do
Darkness has hit things before in the LNs, she just has really low accuracy. At the end of the Dullahan fight, she cut through his armor with one swing, so that Aqua’s spell could get through (LN), she hit the Vanir Dolls as they came at her, and she broke Kazuma’s hands when she grabbed him and he retaliated with Drain Touch in S2. Darkness has also shown readiness to hit people before, like she wanted to hit Mitsurugi instead of wanting to be hit.
that money throwing scene should definitely replace the "shut up and take my money" meme.
I live for the serious/heartfelt moments in konosuba, they're so good.

Supplementary info and LN changes
1:20 - It was cut, but she did it because she didn’t know what he meant by the Japanese outfits and thought it’d be weird outfits. Only notable changes is that Darkness in a maid outfit was a chapter longer with jokes/scenes and Claire’s attack on Darkness was bloodier/graphic and that it was meant to cut through her wrist, but Darkness is just that durable, even without armor (she caressed Iris with the bloody hand, so it made that scene more intense.) To compare, Claire is like the counterpart to Darkness and is a well-known knight with the nickname of ‘White Suit’ (she wears a white suit for men most of the time, so she’s a tomboy and based off of Snow from Combatants Will be Dispatched!), which she was supposed to be in during this scene. Iris herself is based on Alice Kisaragi, the Android from Combatants and both are in the same universe (multiverse?) which is why there are similarities. 4:58 - It was foreshadowed in the LNs, since LN 1 and Vanir said her fate would change depending on Kazuma/Megumin route, in LN 5/the movie and Vanir has future sight (there’s a few scenes still cut from LN 5.)
The LNs are also more serious and have many romantic scenes cut, since the anime focused on comedy (the romance is similar to Kaguya-sama, before Kaguya-sama.) 6:40 - LN clarifies that Iris does this, because she doesn’t want to converse with people of low status, which adds to the slap later (to add, house Dustiness contributed tremendously to the kingdom and Iris knew Darkness in the past, which is why Iris let a lot slip by.) 13:04 - The mage reassured Iris in the LN, by saying that she sees him as the type that dotes on girls like her (indirectly accusing him of being a lolicon, as stated by Kazuma and matched Iris’s early perception of him in the LN.) Little changes: no scene of the Party playing with a Gameboy (Aqua stole one from the factory in LN 5, but wasn’t in the movie), Kazuma showing his gaming skills, by taking no damage from the last boss and indirectly flexed that he could get them back to the same place in a few hours, and Kazuma recounting that he got beat up by his parents by wanting them to divorce and remarry, so he would have a younger step-sister and expressed his desire of wanting a younger sister in this world. Now that you’ve met her, fun fact: Iris is one of the top 3 most popular characters in the entire series, below Megumin and Eris.

Aqua offered him a bunch of different cheat powers, he could pick the one he liked, he was the one to choose to bring her instead.

4:58 We have seen in the movie before that Megumin could fall for Kazuma if he was genuine. Also he is the one who support her into her way of explosion before, complimenting her explosions (120-points explosion), taking her back everyday when she used explosion and was wasted, also the fact that in the movie (I think) he decides to choose to spend her points into explosion instead of learning intermediate or advanced magic, which would be more useful for the party overall... For Kazuma, his ideal woman would probably be a girl who has the body of Darkness with the personality of Megumin, but the guy prioritizes the personality from what I've seen, even if he is a perv, so Megumin is the ideal choice for him. I shipped them from the movie already, but it looks like there might be more development happening in the future.

Yeah Kazuma and Megumin are obviously becoming a thing. It's really cute how the two of them were working on those lighters every night together. But yeah, Aqua is kinda sidelining herself.

Yeah that’s it. It’s a random item and what the target considers valuable. So the women value their modesty so he gets panties. He’ll get that unless they have valuable items on them. It’s not panties every time at least lol
Party paling aman sedunia 😂. Meski darknes ke potong² juga selama ada Aqua mah aman. Bisa di sembuhin,kazuma yg kepala nya kepotong aja bisa di sambungin Ama Aqua. Plus Aqua punya resurrection unlimited. Pas adventur pada mati Ama verdia aja di S1 langsung pada di resurrec Ama Aqua. Gak ada dilay skill mana unlimited, selama ada Aqua ni party gak kan kenapa² asal gak musnah aja jasad nya Masih bisa di kembalikan normal lagi Ama Dewi yg satu itu. Bisa di bilang kazuma sudah milih senjata Ter OP yaitu Aqua. Cuma emang sableng nya gak ngotak aja itu dewi

yeah, kazuma and megumin are actually pretty good together but jeez, i didn't read the manga but i saw a meme that pretty much said in this arc (literally after the bond with megumin gets deeper in the movie) we'll be seeing too much of Iris and that kinda sad after the story with megumin.
I still prefer Lalatina but still, it's sad.

I absolutely like this episode , it is one of the top 5 of all the 3 seasons shown so far - for showing a great balance between humorous and profound, character building moments.
And especially Darkness showing more of her personality, not just her submissive usual behaviour but caring for her friends and standing in for principles. Of course she took the hit without hesitation but even more it did not make her lose her countenance.

So steal gives you a random item from the target, but because Kasuma's luck is so high he gets the item he considers(subconsciously) the most valuable.
Therefore, Panties.
When he fights girls of course. Fighting male opponents he either gets what he aims for (Mitsurugis sword) or something that proofs even more useful (dullahans head).
Steal targets what the target considers as their most valuable object, not Kazuma. Kazuma tried targeting Aqua’s pantsu before in a previous LN, to humiliate her, only to get a bunch of junk she valued (and he spammed it.) Most women value their chastity/pantsu, which is why almost every other women had their pantsu stolen by him.
The anime first 2 seasons overdid the comedy and slapstick on the adaptation... The manga/light novel has comedy but mixes serious moments, romance and stuff...
This new studio is adapting the novels MUCH MORE FAITHFULLY...
Also if you thought Kazuma and Megumin was a one and done deal... girl you are in for a BIG surprise....
Hope they adapt the rest of the novels so you can see it for yourself....
I think the next volume can be adapted in a movie... And for all Megumin and Kazuma shippers we all know what happens there...
