Thank you so much Stephen. I was born and bred in Preston and even though I live in Australia now I love to see my hometown. Fantastic video made me feel really homesick. Thank you.
That was an excellent video of Preston and looks lovely and i like you showing us the beautiful buildings, the railway station, main shopping areas and avenham park. i really enjoyed the video very much.
Interesting that a lot of people are marvelling at the architecture of Preston. Once over, it used to be even fancier (think Manchester) more in the style of buildings like the Miller Arcade, presumably as a result of the wealth from the cotton trade. Alas, a lot of this has been gradually pulled down in favour of student accommodation and the like. Best architecture IMO is St. Walburge's church which has the tallest spire of any parish church in the country and the third tallest on a religious building.
Hi Steve you should have gone the Black Horse on Cheap Side its got three entrances on thee different streets and go in side you will be amazed with the deco well worth a visit..😀
Hey Stephen, thanks for doing a video of my beloved home town ❤ we've got some lovely parks and river and canal walks 😊 next time visit Brucciani coffee shop on Fishergate, like going back in time xx
Hi Steve, I reccomend you go and visit st walburges church with the spire. Its grade 1 listed... it's just outside of the city centre next time you're in Preston. Also some pretty big buildings in future plans for the city centre area, one being the exchange next to the bus Station. Cheers Tom
Great video of Preston Stephen I live just across the river in Penwortham , you did Preston proud in your vlog , its a great place for transport ie trains and buses that go to every corner of UK ...fab shopping also...thanks Stephen 👍😊
Shopping would have been better if Blackpool hadn’t cried like a little biatch and spoiled the Tithbarn project for us all. Ah well like they say misery loves company 😂
That brought back some memories. I'm Preston born and bred but left in he late 70's and haven't been back for 30 years or so. Hope you do another. Much more to see, but the old town's looking good.
Never been to Preston side the early 2000s, Stephen. Me and my Mrs always went by train, because we used to like going to the covered market - many good bargains there on a Tuesday and Thursday. Like you say, there's some real classic buildings on Fishergate, with the architecture and what have you. The George centre is a very nicely laid out shopping mall. Many thanks for doing this video, Stephen, it's nice to see the city as it is these days.
Bistro Pierre in the former church on Fishergate is pretty good value especially if you choose from the Prix Fixe lunch or Menu Soiree early evening menus. Food's pretty good too.
I've never been to Preston - it's worth a visit just for the architecture and parks .I do like the train station - that is a good Victorian building - same with the precinct with the tiled floor .Good Video .
Thanks for sharing the video ? Love Preston and the area ?Avening park a 💎 ? great shopping place? and love 💗 the bus 🚌🚐 station 🚉?if things don't need fixing ? Leave them alone??.
Nice vlog Stephan. The Miller Arcade and bus station are pretty spectacular in the city there. I was last in Preston about twenty years ago to change change trains up from London to get to Blackpool for a little break getaway. I remember sitting on the station late in the evening waiting for the Blackpool train, (a diesel sprinter train before the electric trains), admiring the grand old station. Looks a nice city. 👍👌
For me this has got to be one of the best video's that you have done Stephen even though i am a Blackpool girl, please can you go back and do a follow up of Preston,...no wonder it has got city status it's amazing the architecture is awesome Blackpool has got nothing on it...The train station is a wonderful traditional station one thing which puzzled me is the sign which says kiss and park what is that all about?....I remember from a couple of years back when Blackpool north station was having work done on it and they had to run buses from Preston to Blackpool i was visiting at the time and had to take one of the buses....Avenham park is fabulous , next time i am down i must go and pay a visit to Preston ...Thanks for this video thoroughly enjoyed it.
That's a lovely compliment to Preston from you Aleisha, and of course I'm sure most of us Preston folk hold Blackpool in high regard too (football rivalry aside haha!). I'm an old timer so going to Blackpool for the day was a special treat indeed as a youngster, and though it may not have as many historic buildings like many other Lancashire towns, it has it's own unique style of architecture that still make it a special place. It was created to be a welcoming place for visitors, so be proud of it and its traditions! Btw, Blackpool had a great railway station too back in the day which was one of the busiest in our Country (Blackpool Central). I used it many times in my younger days for day trips and evenings out. Happy days! Ps. Looking forward to the tram link opening from Blackpool North, where we'll be able to get off the train and then sweep along that gorgeous sea front up to Fleetwood, or in the direction to the Pleasure Beach!
Been to Preston Train Station twice, once for the football where we actually did stay in Blackpool 😉 and the other for work. Miller park looked nice, didn’t fancy a trip around Deepdale Sir?! Great video
Very interesting Stephen. I lived in Preston for about six months. It seems to have changed a lot. They have definitely spent some money on it. Thank you for showing this to us

The quality of your camera work and editing is very good, and I think you did the old town justice on your flying visit. But please do call again and do some more exploring when you get the chance, there's lots more to see (and don't spare the grot spots lol!). Btw, Blackpool is still in good old Lancashire as far I'm concerned. Let's not give credence to local government boundary changes, and fake counties like Gt Manchester, Merseyside, and the like. Our historic true county boundaries are still valid. Keep up the good work!

Well Well Welcome to Preston. didn't know you were coming I would of given you a tour haha, the Waterstones used to be a Booths as did all the buildings around it including the bridge across the road it was their main offices, the building next to it further up was a bank as well, there was a very big armed robbery there in the 80s and it closed soon after, the market which is a very sad sight compared to what it used to be, has been covered with that roof since victorian times, the good ol bus station (largest in Europe I believe) they were going to knock it down a few years ago but there was an outcry, as ugly as it is we love our bus station haha.

And which fire & rescue service covers Blackpool?
