Am I alone in preferring Batman Begins over TDK ?
Nope, I think there are many (and I've seen many comments) who think it's a better film or prefer it over the DK. In the Dark Knight you have a better villain, but otherwise I think, Batman Begins is a better film. Cheers.

Dude!! This is the best Nolan ranking I’ve seen! I would agree with it basically 100% other than personally I would move inception up to #4. But yea for me Dark Knight is also my favourite film of all time period. Batman Begins and Dark Knight Rises are about tied as runner ups. Then Inception next for me. Those 4 are the ones I would give 10/10 and are among my favourite films of all time. Following is last. Insomnia second last. Everything else is basically tied in the middle and I could rank them any which way depending on the day. Again this is the best Nolan ranking I’ve seen on the internet period imo. Bravo!! ☺️

9. The Dark Knight Rises - I personally found it a bit disappointing as a conclusion to the trilogy
8. Tenet - I have only seen it once so this could change but I wasn't completely blown away by it. Still has cool stuff in it
7. Batman Begins - haven't seen it in a long time but yeah it's a solid movie but the other 6 are better
6. Memento - incredibly well constructed movie
5. Dunkirk - it could have had more of an emotional punch but what it does, it does amazingly well
4. Interstellar - visually this is my favorite Nolan and overall just an intense and great sci-fi movie
3. Inception - I just rewatched it in theatres a few weeks ago during the rerelease, what an experience. Amazing movie

Great list Bryan. Love all of these, never seen Following though. So refreshing to hear someone not bash Interstellar . I'm one of those weirdos who likes Rises more than BB and TDK. Tenet was amazing although I did need a stiff drink and a lie down afterwards. I concentrated the whole time, (no popcorn) but the sound mixing was an odd choice. I was watching it in IMAX and some of the dialogue (especially through gas masks or crashing waves) was so muffled or drowned out by the (great) score.

I'm looking forward to seeing Tenet again, I had a really good time with it this weekend. I think we can all agree on one thing: Nolan rocks.
Hell yeah man! Nolan easily has the best consistency in his filmography. 11 films. Not one stinker among them. Not even Spielberg can boast 11 in a row like that.

@@BryanLomax I used to do similar videos about 5-6 years ago, but I doubt I'd have the time or watch enough to make them now haha. But in theory I love the idea and would like to do it again.

Ahh yes I knew The Dark Knight was coming. My favorite film of all time as well. Also a question for you Bryan, I’m not sure if you are a video game man but the Arkham Games are absolutely amazing. The Telltale Series games are also fun as well, because they focus more on character relationships and you can make your own choices in the game to affect the story.
Yeah, they've always looked good to me, but I'm just not a gamer at all.
Bryan Lomax Movie Talk gotcha, I figured not but wanted to ask anyway. If you ever got bored one day the Arkham games would be fun to UA-cam and watch, just for entertainment. The telltale games are free on Mobile I think and are fun to make your own story sort of thing

Absolutely, I couldn't fault anybody for putting any one of those top 9 at number 1. They are pretty interchangeable in terms of their awesomeness.

I think Marion Cotillard is supposed to be a cold memory and projection for Leo in Inception. I don't really think I'm supposed to feel warm to her, more like I should dread and be creeped out by her. She's a dead apparition of the dream world, a bad remembrance for Leo, she's like a phantom terrorizing him, and that's what I feel when I watch it. At least that's what I think I'm supposed to feel. Again, Inception is my favorite movie ever, but I'm sure that's not just the fanboy in me talking haha

@@Robalexe I don't disagree with you. That is meant to be how we read her. But I just like that we can really feel a warmth to Debicki's character in Tenet. So when something bad happens to her I care more. Either way, both movies are in my top 20 of all time so there's not much to grumble about for me.

@@Robalexe it's not an objective criticism, merely a matter of subjective taste. I feel more for the characters in Tenet than I do the ones in Inception, but both movies are still as close to perfect as a film can get.

Understandable however I do feel it a bit unfair that you compare 'Kat' from 'Tenet' to 'Mal' from 'Inception'.
'Mal' might be the only character in that film lacking emotional depth, whereas 'Kat' is the only one in 'Tenet' who actually has it.
I have only seen Tenet once so far and its currently floating in the middle of Nolan filmography for me.
At the moment I would say 7,5/10 which might still jump up after additional viewings and I get a better grasp of things.
The whole point of my comparison is that the women in both of these movies are the emotional hook. In order to feel for Cobb in Inception I need to be connected to that which he has lost. And I am, don't get me wrong. It is still a five-star film for me after all. But the emotional hook in Tenet, being Kat, had me much more emotionally invested. So both films are on a par for me. But if I had to look for a reason to put one above the other, that would be the reason.

Not sure what I was expecting but we're going to have different orders. I like dark knight rises but I would definitely have inception and prestige above it. Interstellar I probably need to rewatch as I struggled with enjoying but great order none the less and agree with his movies being mostly 5 out of 5.
Really looking forward to Tenet on my birthday.

Hard to say, but the biggest contenders would have to be Spielberg, Kubrick, Fincher, Tarantino, Hitchcock, Villenueve, Cameron, Ridley Scott and Damien Chazelle.

@@jordanmoran1983 I've not. Been meaning to. But Fincher is most likely next on the hitlist as I've slowly been trying to review his movies. Got Benjamin Button coming up next.
@@BryanLomax I'd defo recommend it. I've managed to watch both seasons in a week and I'm gutted about season 3 being up in the air. It definitely has a fincher look and feel I think you'd enjoy.

Someone who rates the dark knight rises highly in Chris Nolans filmography. Love this.
Insomnia is by far the best Nolan movie I think we can all agree on that.

Interstellar is definitely my favourite, in part due to its emotional quality like you say. Seems a 'trendy' one to bash but it blows my tiny mind and is beautiful to behold. McConaughey's performance is also my favourite in any Nolan movie. Memento isn't hugely rewatchable but it's such a clever, satisying watch. Got a feeling Tenet will overtake both Memento and Inception to nestle in behind Interstellar after rewatches. One of his most enjoyable on first viewing and definitely his most action-packed to date. Preferred the characters in Tenet plus it had (a bit) more (very dry) humour than Inception. Only time will tell where it ends up but I loved it. Not a big Batman fan but still rate The Dark Knight extremely highly. The other two drag in places a little but are still good. Dunkirk is great but not one I feel the need to revisit often. Insomnia by anyone else's (say, Fincher's) standards is a superb thriller but for Nolan it's lower tier. The Prestige is the one that tends to frustrate as much as satisfy - mainly due to that ending. Plus I don't really empathize with the characters. That one bobs up and down my ranking but Following is always bottom for all the reasons mentioned. The only one of Nolan's films I think is just 'okay'. 1 to 6 are great and 7 to 10 are merely good. Quite some director!

thewackykid I watched it once, you’re correct. But I think I have a good grasp on the plot. I hate Tennet because it’s a puzzle just for the sake of being a puzzle. The story and characters are ridiculous weak and without its overly complex structure the movie would be just a shitty version of James Bond or Mission Impossible. Why did you liked it?
