I see some "feedback" from people about the length of the content. I just wanted to say I actually look forward to your videos because they are longer and provide a more rich story behind the product. I like the learning about EV's and also seeing other people's journey. My Tesla currently is in the shop after hitting a deer, so I live through this videos till it returns haha.

This is why I recommend Tesla brand cars when people ask about electric vehicles. Most people don't want to try over and over with charging stations when they fail to charge for whatever reason. Tesla superchargers just work. And they only have a single step: plug it in. No touch screens, apps, cards, anything. It cannot get any more easy to use. We need all the 3rd party chargers to catch up with Plug and Charge so they will work the same way with a single step of just plug in and walk away.

    • @rajj8887

But...If you're looking for a capable off-road EV, Teslas are not going to cut it. Tesla would also most likely void your warranty if they find any mud underneath your vehicle.

Not sure what part of the country you live in... I have never had to wait at a charger, I have never had to unplug and replug (although i considered it today when i was only drawing 30 kWh at my first plug in, and on my way thru before I had 100+ at another stall in the same charger... but I was literally just adding 50 miles to get to the next charger, so i just made a 5 minute phone call) AT ANY TESLA CHARGING STATION... BUT! The one near my house (which i used one time only) had a plug with a bent pin (unusable) the one time i was there. There is one stall with a missing pin on my only 300 mile trip i do more than once a year... for 8 months. So... Tesla isn't perfect, but the problems are VISABLY obvious, no plug, wait, unplug, move.

The only ones that make good, decent cars are the Japanese and the Germans - be it gas, diesel, and electric, etc. I have never driven electric cars before, but I think the first and favorite one that I would love to get my hands on would be the Audi e-tron.

How long does it take your Rivian R1 to charge at home using a NEMA 14-50. 80% of my charging is at home. My Tesla Y can charge over night without any problems. How many miles can you add to your Rivian R1 in 12 hours using a NEMA 14-50. Thanks, safe travels. Guy

@@uhjyuff2095 Thanks, so if you want to charge at home need a higher amp charger on your NEMA 14-50 because of the larger battery. And there is the challenge of larger batteries and heavier EVs.

Is the aircon being used to cool the battery, I know a design engineer on one particular car brand and they will use the AC on the battery pack, he's furious about it because he says the AC drops off to luke warm.

I think it can, but only if the normal radiator fans can't keep up. The ford lightning has very loud big fans with extra cooling for the towing package option. I am not sure if the Ford uses the A/C in that model.

@@geezus1201 The EV6 comes with the first 1000kWh free if you use Electrify America stations, so I haven't actually paid for any of the charges yet, but the app does tell you what they would have cost without the promo. It looks like going from ~20% to ~80% at most chargers is about $20, though a few were cheaper (price per kWh is slightly different at each location). Now that I'm home and charging in my garage with a L2 charger it's much cheaper (just depends on your local electric rate).
