The limitation is Tesla's ground clearance, leveled dirt road with no ruts, gullies, or washboards. You were on a road trip, nothing more. You failed to mention the drain from the AC, that is significant. Im all for electric but it's not ready, yet, for a real expediton.

One suggestion, windshield cleaning. The bugs take away from the AMAZING cinematography. Excellent music choices and running commentary!
You’d be a legend if you do a bit of converting of units when composing the video, just text would work fine, ex degrees in Celcius or miles in km, only when relevant ofc. Nice video though!
Amazing journey. But Dude ! it is not that hard to figure out how to clean your windshield every time you stop. Take the windshield cleaning stuff with you, or stop by a gas station and clean your windshield and buy a little something there.
Looking at these Superchargers located in Nevada and Arizona makes me wonder why they aren't solar powered. Would be nice to have a lartge canopy over the chargers with solar panels!!
Probably cost versus benefit. I don't imagine they get enough cars to warrant the savings they would get from the solar panel cost. Whereas in Las Vegas first of all it's the first V3 supercharger I believe so sort of a image thing but also there's a lot of traffic in Vegas. Solar panels don't put out as much power as most people think. Especially when you compare it to what that vehicle is drawing at V3 speeds. If you were to cover your average house roof with solar panels you might get 20 kilowatts. They're pulling 250 KW

This series is terrific. My wife and I are really enjoying your videos. The shot of the grand canyon was breathtaking. Did you really film that with an iphone?
The rag trick is to put a wet towel/rag on the handle of the Supercharger. The water in the rag will help keep the handle cool, so that it will continue to supply a higher amount of energy to the car, which translates into shorter charging times. If the handle starts to heat up past a certain amount, then the Supercharger will slow down the rate at which it feeds power into the Tesla for safety reasons as the handle will otherwise be extremely hot to the touch, and can cause it to fail if it's heated up too many times from numerous uses. Tapering down is when the car starts to slow the rate of charge in the car, as you can see Kyle mention pretty much any time he's showing us the charging rate, such as say 150 kW. When it starts to taper, those speeds drop below 100 kW, which will increase the charging time. It will taper at some point as the battery gets more charged, but Kyle uses the wet rag to delay when it does. I haven't done this yet on my Model Y, but others have mentioned this too. Once I do a long distance trip where I'll need to Supercharge as well, then I'll likely do the same thing.

Kyle and Alyssa, thanks so much for making these vlogs. I recently finally took my first road trip in my SR+ with my partner and two pups from Denver to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Your videos gave me both the information and confidence I needed. The absolute worst part of my trip was that stretch between Blanding and Page. I made the mistake of traveling it in the middle of the night, while it was pouring down rain, with jack rabbits and mice leaping in front of the car. Would not recommend. At least I was forced to keep my speed so low that range wasn't an issue ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I was also inspired by those window shields you have for your dogs. I ended up just buying a roll of Reflectix insulation and cutting it to shape. Worked super well!

Taking a street car offroad was not the best decision you have made. You don't see street cars dirt roads in the southwest unless they are rentals, which is why it's a bad idea to buy a used rental care, here.
You silly non desert dwellers ;) here in Phoenix we have had over 50 days of over 110 degrees. Teslas are amazing. There have been days when my car was cooling itself in my garage. This summer I insulated my garage door and it made a difference

I'm from the East Coast and I've repeatedly visited those desert parts of California in July. I love the weather extremes Earth can serve up. Out of Spec should drive Alaska's Dalton Highway this December! (At least as far as the lack of charging network up there will allow.)

I bet parking on some of San Francisco's side streets could generate that parking warning message too. In fact, San Francisco's inclines might have inspired Tesla to check parking inclines to begin with. There have been many runaway parked cars in that city.
That was a great video! Thank you. I have a question I hope you’ll answer. If Teslas have a 4 camera system built in, why do you have to have your own camera on the front windshield? Are you able to access and download the recordings from the car? Do they record to a 4 channel DVR of some sort? Is there a default buffer of how many minutes (hours?) of video is held in the system before it writes over the old footage? Also, I’m surprised Tesla and other car makers don’t put a couple of USB outlets up behind the rear view mirror. Thanks! (PS...I know you’re home now, but I really wanted to fly out there and wash your car for you! My dad always had to have a clean car for a road trip and now I’m the same! 🤣)
99.9% of You-tubers use Go pros then they can put them anywhere.The cameras on the car are for security.The front one can do dash cam but they would need a huge hard drive.
Thanks Larry. It seems cars *should* have built in camera systems that record to an internal DVR (4 channel in this case) and the footage would be easily accessible with an app or the memory of the DVR is removable some how. I think buyers would pay extra for a feature like that.

I am new to your channel, when the cyber truck slots were available at 100.00 I picked up one of them. Watching your videos certainly highlights the range anxiety that seems to be a very real thing. I know your channel is about the EV experience but it seems like your running from charge to charge. It’s free or nearly free versus gas cars and that’s cool but it seems that it take a along time to charge at each stop. Thanks for taking us along on the ride and great pictures of the Grand Canyon.

That was a great video! Thank you. I have a question I hope you’ll answer. If Teslas have a 4 camera system built in, why do you have to have your own camera on the front windshield? Are you able to access and download the recordings from the car? Do they record to a 4 channel DVR of some sort? Is there a default buffer of how many minutes (hours?) of video is held in the system before it writes over the old footage? Also, I’m surprised Tesla and other car makers don’t put a couple of USB outlets up behind the rear view mirror. Thanks! (PS...I know you’re home now, but I really wanted to fly out there and wash your car for you! My dad always had to have a clean car for a road trip and now I’m the same! 🤣)
99.9% of You-tubers use Go pros then they can put them anywhere.The cameras on the car are for security.The front one can do dash cam but they would need a huge hard drive.
Thanks Larry. It seems cars *should* have built in camera systems that record to an internal DVR (4 channel in this case) and the footage would be easily accessible with an app or the memory of the DVR is removable some how. I think buyers would pay extra for a feature like that.

After watching your channel and buying a used 2018 tesla with 12000 miles on it I no longer worried about charging. Tesla is amazing

I am new to your channel, when the cyber truck slots were available at 100.00 I picked up one of them. Watching your videos certainly highlights the range anxiety that seems to be a very real thing. I know your channel is about the EV experience but it seems like your running from charge to charge. It’s free or nearly free versus gas cars and that’s cool but it seems that it take a along time to charge at each stop. Thanks for taking us along on the ride and great pictures of the Grand Canyon.

Honestly people complain about doing road trips with Teslas electric vehicles because you have to plan out our route or what ever but … it looks like such a cool dope experience while your car is charging you can go and explore a little bit more
