20:37 FYI the SU7 Ultra that set the Nurburgring lap record is a prototype co-developed with Prodrive (basically a full-on racecar), not the production version. It's just a marketing strategy Xiaomi used to make it seem like the production version set the lap record.
@@HyperVanilo In China, in the adverts Xiaomi put out about the lap record, they purposely made the word "prototype" really small which led many people to falsely believe that the production version set the record.
@@RDEnduro Is the Porsche prototype you're talking about the Taycan Turbo GT? That holds the record for the fastest road-legal and production four-door car, while the SU7 Ultra Prototype set the record for four-door cars in general, road-legal or not. @concinnus the car was untested and tuned. The GT3 engine haven’t been all replaced. Only the ones that failed. There are still cars with non-latest engines out there with the 10 year warranty expiring very soon.
Jaguar was a force on raving, Most Le Mans victories after Porsche and despite flaws, their cars were highly regarded. What wasn't working was everything after Ford was forced to sell them. Sales flowed drastically.
Whoa! So that is what the concept jaGuar car looks like. I live in Southern Spain where the EU car companies do their pre-production mule testing. Yesterday I saw something that looked like a Merc CLA Shooting Brake with a sloping roof. Will check the reg plate and take a photo next viewing.

@77R_ the touareg is in the midsized luxury crossover segment while the atlas/teramont is in the mainstream midsized crossover segment. the touareg is (significantly) more luxurious, based on the mlb platform (used in nearly every luxury product from vw group) instead of the comparably downmarket mqb platform, offered with larger and more powerful engines etc. in addition to the fact that its more expensive than the atlas/teramont in markets where both cars are sold.

I kind of agree that Jag has had an image problem for a long time ago, from ferrying Prime Ministers around, to the snowy tops driving XK8s. They were and are unable to copy Porsche or Aston, et al. And you’re right, their strategy over the last 50 years hasn’t worked. But, to go the same way as Lotus, by electrifying their whole range? It’s the death of a great brand!

I’m guessing part of the reason that the SF90 didn’t sell as well is because of how it drives, the fact that it’s AWD, and the fact that it’s not a v12. I know this is not a perfect representation of real life driving experiences, but I bought the SF90 in Forza Motorsport and drove it around for a while. And what I came away with was that it was too big, boring to drive even when fully upgraded, and handles poorly. The LaFerrari and 599 on the other hand are a blast. And the 812 was one of my favorites ever. All of those cars are rwd, tail happy, smaller, and have an incredible sounding v12. That is the best Ferrari gets imo. Thats also part of the reason the LaFerrari is selling for $3million to this day

They have similar looks but I think the Touareg here in EU is based on the Cayenne/Q8 platform while the Atlas has a totally different platform (correct me if I’m wrong)
17:03 200miles is almost too much range for how most people use their cars, especially in the city, and especially since you can charge at home or when you park. Smaller batteries save money and production times the environment. Most cars can’t tow, so they shouldn’t need to be able to road trip quickly.
Porsche offered a 10-year warranty on all 991.1 GT3s. They did not perform a recall nor replace engines (unless it blew). Pretty important distinction....
The Jaguar adverts won't have been expensive to produce but the media buy is what takes it into the millions (tv, mainstream media, radio, display advertising etc)

Jag is not Bud Light. Jag is an exclusive brand, that serves a wealthy customer base. Who do you think goes to the Guggenheim Museum to see the latest postmodern art expo ? Truck drivers and plumbers ? Jaguar's ad is laser focused on their target demographic, (wealthy, young, urban, liberals).

Everyone would have started talking about Jaguar again if their newest ad campaign showcased their cool history while presenting new concept electrified versions of each. Maybe they could have even got Clarkson to do the narration and say his signature "Jaaaaag" line. Bringing in a well loved automotive icon and paying respect and homage to their history while simultaneously inviting in the future. A limited production electric E-Type, S-Type electric SUV (kind of like the Mustang Mach-E), and a Maybach competitor electric XJ. This company would have been so back. Now they have done a scorched earth campaign on their entire lineage and are starting a new generic post-modern car company from scratch to compete with well established brands. They'll be bankrupt and gone by the end of the decade.

20:37 FYI the SU7 Ultra that set the Nurburgring lap record is a prototype co-developed with Prodrive (basically a full-on racecar), not the production version. It's just a marketing strategy Xiaomi used to make it seem like the production version set the lap record.
They clearly put 'prototype' word in the title of their official Nurburgring video
@@HyperVanilo In China, in the adverts Xiaomi put out about the lap record, they purposely made the word "prototype" really small which led many people to falsely believe that the production version set the record.
I dont believe it actually has the record at all prototype or not. I doubt they beat Porsche prototype, cant trust them now anyway.
@@RDEnduro Is the Porsche prototype you're talking about the Taycan Turbo GT? That holds the record for the fastest road-legal and production four-door car, while the SU7 Ultra Prototype set the record for four-door cars in general, road-legal or not. It's all just how narrow you want the category to be. If you claim you're the fastest in an oddly specific category then you surely hold the record for that. The production version of the SU7 Ultra will most likely be slower than the Taycan Turbo GT around the ring.
@@RDEnduroThe only Porsche faster than the SU7 Ultra Prototype is the 919 Evo. You know the difference.
Jags rebranding is so generic it loops back round into being unique.
*Switches from brown tired pretension to lime green tired pretension*
Oh my effing god. I was one of people that restored the Miura. It was valentino Balbonis fault it caught on fire, and ill stand by that. Lol
Was it not the standard carb overflowing at a stop issue (can't find the fire in the timeline)? Because that's a Lambo design issue.
@concinnus the car was untested and tuned. The car was literally completed in the parking after shipping from CO. it ran ok all weekend until it got called up for awards and stalled in line, Valentino was attempting to get it fired back up and I believe had cracked a fuel line loose to a carb? Idk now, been a long time and tried to forget it happened lmao. Anyways the fire was really minor and nothing was damaged, one of us just dumped a water bottle on it and was all good.
Bud Light marketing class....A+
BYD, GWM, Chery etc are killing it in Brazil within like two years…the cars are just so much better (interior design etc)
I have Jaguar XF 260, with 3 liter supercharger engine, i love how it looks, feels and drives no matter what people say.
I can still remember the classic "Top Gear" guys dissing on the SC 430 when they didn't realize what that car really represented. To me, it represented the last expression of an American style that went back to the "businessman's coupe" of the 1930s and extended through the "personal" cars that finally died out in the 1990s or so.
Personally I think it's genius, and not just because I'm a Jag-man, but I can't even remember any time a car company has gotten so much free press, ever.
I remember and not long ago: It was a certain brand of non alcohol beer...
Didn't work for them!
As a Brazilian living in Berlin, this episode is making me look for cameras in my apartment
By the way, there's not really a Brazilian auto industry. We had Gurgel at some point, but it kinda stops there
I hope you're enjoying Germany. It's a beautiful country.
Maybe the new weird Jag commercial is something to rile the public get them thinking Jaguar and the next ad is a reveal of a new badass Jaguar car with the caption "GOTCHA"
I can only hope...
It's possible. That commercial sure got some publicity.
Jaguar took their poor cat behind the shed and neutered it.
Doug doing this new show is so much fun, really good content .
24:08 the atlas (positioned under the touareg and above the tayron) is sold as the teramont internationally (which obviously starts with a t)
The atlas is bigger than the touareg
@77R_ the touareg is in the midsized luxury crossover segment while the atlas/teramont is in the mainstream midsized crossover segment. the touareg is (significantly) more luxurious, based on the mlb platform (used in nearly every luxury product from vw group) instead of the comparably downmarket mqb platform, offered with larger and more powerful engines etc. in addition to the fact that its more expensive than the atlas/teramont in markets where both cars are sold.
@@smar1208 Oh I thought the positioning was based on size only
@@77R_ if that was true the lexus tx would be positioned above the lx, sequoia above the fullsized land cruiser etc.
I know this pod doesn’t go into politics, but the Jaguar rebrand is killing me. Elon commented on the idea of, “go woke go broke”. Like buddy, they’ve been going broke before you were an American citizen.
Go broke, Go woke?
He’s probably inferring that it’s the nail in the coffin for them. They’ve been “going” broke, but now will “be” broke.
Ah yes, maybe you should go and teach Elon how business works.
@@demonstructie being successful doesn't make you an all-knowing entity you shill, Jaguar has been broke 15 years before the word woke ever left anyone's lips
@@CGCGCGCGCGGCGC-n2j their coffin was already welded shut, nails dont do anything anymore
Talking about the VW names starting with T: did you know that the Atlas is called the Teramont for the Mexico market?
I think Jag is looking at a different market than anyone in this Pod Cast.
As an American who has lived in China since 2012, i can attest to cars coming a long way here in a short time span. When i first moved to China, most cars were imported from Japan, the US and Germany (you can guess the name brands). These days so many nice cars on the streets are actually Chinese and are nice.😂
YES!! I always thought it was a door handle, and now i have confirmation. Thanks Nick.
Jaguar F Type enters chat. - hey guys, I’m an amazing newer Jaguar, also the car you called amazing looking (MG Cyberster) is a complete reskin of the F Type.
Doug, the weird Suzuki hatchback is the SX4! Very underrated cars
I love this timeline.
Bearded Doug is a cooler Doug!
Dear editors: Can you please add pictures of the cars they are talking about in the edit? Eventhough it is called a "podcast", we are still on YT and I find myself constantly being disappointed when I look to see what they are talking about and see either a tiny image on the screen behind them or mostly nothing at all.
Thats also part of the reason the LaFerrari is selling for $3million to this day
Iv been wanting to see this for a long time. Was wanting you to team up w “the China show” guys to review Chinese cars.
I didn’t think it was possible but Jaguar single handedly discredited the famous adage “there’s no such thing as bad publicity.”
So TWR is building more Jags than Jag is now...
that TWR supercat is so cool, i don't think they'll actually end up being $280k tho, will end up being more than that
@@nickkalister6291 I’m getting the 1st one available to the public. The 1st two are going to the owners. The price is at this level for now. As they make more, the price will steadily increase. Can’t wait.
Very cool, I enjoyed hanging out with you guys
My favourite part is that those misspellings have been done before, though I don't remember who did it first. But it does mean the 'copy nothing' bit is bs already.
17:39 DOUG SAID FOOK 😭😭
I have seen it all now... Doug DeMurro is pimping Pubic Hair Trimmers‼️
Jaguar didn't delete their posts, they only archived it.
Its the same case when Aston Martin was marketing the "All will be Vanquished" 2025 Vanquish.
All the older post was completely gone until the Vanquish was revealed, and they went back up again
Both methods are pointless
Aston backtracked 😂 Jaguar got called woke clowns and totally destroyed for the junk advert. Its another case of leftists attemting censorship only for it to blow up in their face yet again. The left dont seem to realise its over and anything associated with woke is now considered for the bin.
They are launching the Shaguar
🤣
12:40 the only new Jaguar you can buy in 2025 😂😂 an old XJS
very good picks on the 3 cars. I own e46 30xi, f22 35xi, c5 corvette. recently sold my c8. m5 isn't worth the price like don't get me wrong I love my loaded e46. but look at the costs of ownership and repair... I also wanna swap my 2014 jeep Cherokee for a cayenne but its too big. the cherokee has held value well
Funny thing, the Atlas it’s actually called Teramont outside the US :)
I did not know about the campaign until tertiary sources talked about it. But I do know what the marketing hints at:
A banana in the tail pipe.
Doug. Try to find a Monteverdi Safari to review.
24:48 The Atlas is the Touareg in Europe
They have similar looks but I think the Touareg here in EU is based on the Cayenne/Q8 platform while the Atlas has a totally different platform (correct me if I’m wrong)
It would’ve been hilarious to get Doug to review the BYD Qin L: an Accord/Camry-sized phev sedan with a 17 gallon fuel tank and like 70mpg highway
Doug was hooked as soon as he saw "live vivid"
The Jaguar ad was genius. They went for earned media to remind people that they exist, because everyone forgot
"Can I say hi to the dog?"
"No..." _keeps talking_ "... it doesn't like you"
17:03 200miles is almost too much range for how most people use their cars, especially in the city, and especially since you can charge at home or when you park. Smaller batteries save money and production times the environment. Most cars can’t tow, so they shouldn’t need to be able to road trip quickly.
Im sure glad Doug was able to drop a line to remind us about his review for the car otherwise none of us would have viewed it 😂
Porsche offered a 10-year warranty on all 991.1 GT3s.
They did not perform a recall nor replace engines (unless it blew). Pretty important distinction....
Yeah they were astonishingly wrong on this
Kinda looks like Doug knows but didnt want to say that. First time I hear about it though
The car logo is clearly Doug’s infamous CarMax Land Rover, which would make it an air intake on the side.
😂😂😂 it made me laugh so hard to see how short you kept the news about Volkswagen 😂
The logo looks like the mazda ev that only sold in california. Which would have been awesome with the planned range extender rotary.
Damn, Doug’s showing his true colors this episode
I’d like to see some statistics showing the number of used Jaguars for sale after this add and how values will be affected.
1:06:18 WHAT ABOUT ASPARK THE OWL 😞😞😞
The Jaguar rebrand is something a luxury handbag maker or a startup boutique clothing store would do.
The Jaguar adverts won't have been expensive to produce but the media buy is what takes it into the millions (tv, mainstream media, radio, display advertising etc)
People can talk mess all they want but Phil De Franco had it in his show yesterday and that dude I don’t think ever does car news so clearly it’s making people talk.
Exactly! The people complaining about jaguar going woke would rather just buy a corvette because “you get better performance for the price”. If they were interested in jaguars, they would’ve bought them before
wealthy young liberals? 😂 where abouts do these people exist? because its not in the UK. The liberal wokers here in the UK are usually jobless and claiming for loads of mental issues.
Jaguar traditional costumer is conservative.
Good luck trying to catch other kind of costumer....
@@jomaoliveira7949 ikr. They've lost the plot.

I badly wish we got the Cyberster here!! I'd buy one in a heartbeat!
Is there Footage of Doug judging and Balboni trying to stop a Lamborghini Miura from burning down at Amelia Concours d'Elegance ?
There has to have been someone who filmed it, because it sounds hilarious!
Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
The best TWR could come up with is those 2 heinous Temu looking air filters crammed against the fire wall?! 🤣🤣🤣
First time watching a full episode and I will now be a regular
They'll be bankrupt and gone by the end of the decade.
the average person just doesn't care about jeremy clarkson. marketing towards petrol heads is a death sentence
That Ad made me want to buy an Aston Martin
The Brazilian VIN joke is wildly underrated
That's why I ❤ jaguar 🐆. Because they are unique and not common. From my perspective, Corvette is common and undesirable. Electric ⚡ is also undesirable. I can live with what has been. TWR has done it!
I see 7x more Jaguars then Corvettes a day
Interestingly the Volkswagen Atlas is called Teramont in other markets
Doug, your commentary on the Jag rebrand was wasted on this pair, but it makes sense.
There is one brazilian car startup caled LE-CAR pretty interesting...
Also troller T4 is worth a look, also fiat is basically a brazilian brand with models developed and sold only here.
But generally it sucks ... lol im brazilian 23:46
Since the release of the jaGuar advert, I certainly am curious. Curious about what Lexus and BMW are selling.
Definitely come to the New Canaan event! A really fun time!
17:00 Lexus RZ.
I thought Toyota only made 1 EV just so they could sell their other models in California. Wasn’t there a regulation California put out that in order to sell cars in the state there has to be an EV option to offset emissions or some nonsense?
Toyota came out numerous times stating that EV aren’t the way of the future and are steering towards alternative measures.
Toyota is the King for reasons
BAHAHAH Your entire comment is asserting erroneous rumors then answering your own rhetorical questions. It's a very interesting form of brainwashing.
My favorite Toyota alternative measure is Hydrogen Piston Engines. That is truly a genius move.
(sarcasm)
CA had that requirement, but the bZ4X isn’t a compliance car, despite having all the design features and specs of a compliance car.
@@Neojhunyou dont have a clue what you are on about😂 All European and Japanese manufacturers are going ice on synthetic fuel. The Agricultural industry is already on it so is the road transport industry brands like Scania and Volvo.
