Mountains and History in SEXTEN DOLOMITES

  • Hey! Welcome to another video. In this episode, I hiked/climber for more than 5 hours to reach a peak I have dreamed to explore for many years: Cresta Zsigmondy!
It's located between Monte Popera and Cima Undici (Elferkofel), and it's a place full of INCREDIBLE history from WW1.
Even though I didn't have the chance to admire Cima Undici free of clouds, I still had some spectacular conditions, perfect for my drone footage.
I couldn't leave this place without telling you the story of the Italian Alpine Troops called "Mascabroni".
NOTE: I'm agains every kind of war, so I am not fascinated by the fight itself.
    It's the exact opposite.
What I am mostly concerned about is the human tragedy of thousands of young guys (both Italians and Austrians) who had to struggle against incredible sufferings to fight a useless war.
On the way back, I followed the spectacular via Ferrata "Strada degli Alpini". It's a very easy via ferrata (I didn't have any problem to follow it without harness), but the views are simply incredible.

The English word for the rock piles is "cairns", actually a Gaelic word from the ancient Scottish language.

I'm late to the party. Two years too late actually. Been binge watching your videos every other weekend.
I can't get enough of your mini-documentaries. Yes, that's what I call these videos. They foretell incredible stories and the cinematography is just spectacular.
What makes you unique is your unique combination of story telling, real time capture of hiking and the drone footage to give a bigger perspective. No one does it like you on UA-cam.
What also blew my mind in this video is how you made the vertical climb on the wall look so easy. I could never!! That takes a lot of courage. Props to you Bruno.Great stuff and enjoyed the little bit of history lesson at the end.

Bravo Paisano. I'm taking an expedition to trek the 120km Dolomites Circular Route in 2023 whilst also exploring the war tunnels from the WW1 conflict. I lost my brother Oscar last year aged 59 due to an unseen illness and this will be in his memory and that of my late Mother Angela Maria. Your video is spectacular and shows the true beauty of the Italian mountains and landscapes and I feel this venture will bring me close to them both. Thank you for posting your amazing videos and keep up the fantastic work you are doing and stay safe. Tanti Saluti

Ciao Bruno, scusa se commento in italiano. Giro spettacolare!

E anche Italia are the Euro 2020 champions :-) and Home = Rome!
I have to agree with you that Bruno, although always modest, has got some big balls, climbing whilst videoing, commenting and pitching tent at the peak like its just in the back yard. Veramente bravo.

Btw, your jetboil isn't (probably) broken nor the gas canister is faulty, it is just the ignitor, the tiny wire close to the middle of the stove, that is bent too far away from the surface.. just push it slightly towards the stove until you can see the spark again. And avoid leaving the gas open without igniting inside the ⛺ 😨. Safe travels buddy and keep up the good content!
