- Amazing 5 speed gearbox DIY. In this video I will guide you gearbox build with 5 speed transmission from cardboard. This is a manual transmissio - RC 5 speed. Principle of operation of 5-speed gearbox:
- Mode N: the gears of the middle axis "are not attached to" the gears of axis 3 (the inner axis, is attached to the motor), so the middle axis and the 1- axis axis in the outermost are not turned.
- Mode 1: First gear (R = 3cm) (from left) of axis 3 "attached to" third gear (R = 3cm) of the middle axis and first gear (R = 2cm) of the middle axis "attached" to the first gear (R = 4cm) of the first axis (outermost axis) so that the reel rotates (the slowest speed).
- Mode 2: Second gear (R = 3cm) of axis 1 "attached to" third gear (R = 3cm) of the middle axis and second gear (R = 2.5cm) of the middle axis " attach to the "second gear (R = 3.5cm) of the first axis (outermost axis) the rotating axis (faster speed than mode 1).
- Mode 3: Third gear (R = 3cm) of axis 1 + third gear (R = 3cm) of the middle axis + third gear (R = 3cm) of the first axis (outer axis) "attach to each other" rotation axis (faster speed than Mode 2 and equal to the speed of motor).
- Mode 4: Fourth gear (R = 3.5cm) of axis 1 "attached to" fourth gear (R = 2.5cm) of the middle axis and third gear (R = 3cm) of the middle axis "attached to" the fourth gear (R = 3cm) of the first axis (outer axis) the rotating axis (faster speed than mode 3).
- Mode 5: Fifth gear (R = 4cm) of axis 1 "attached to" fifth gear (R = 2cm) of the middle axis and third gear (R = 3cm) of the middle axis "mounted into the "fifth gear (R = 3cm) of the first axis (outermost axis) the rotating axis (fastest speed)
it active amazing. Hope you like speed gearbox it. Thank you!
Materials you need: cardboard, 4 bearings, A4 paper, 1 motor DC 9v, 1 switch, battery, aluminum bars, hot glue gun and follow all steps from this video and you will get amazing #speedgearbox with #5speedtransmission. If you like this video don't forget to subscribe :). Thank you!

Are you an engineer or mechanic or you just made that?
Thanks now I can make one for my honda civic.
Lol 😂
The next thing should be "DIY vtec engine from cardboard"
😂😂😂
Mertcan Küçükoğlu yes but no because in an engine there are pistons and they go up and down fast with this are explosions because small amounts of fuel are pumped into them and when the piston hits it, it explodes forcing the piston down and the fuel would leak through the cardboard lol

Omg! After so many years, this is the best illustration among all the professional videos I’ve seen about how the force got transferred! The middle axis was never explained well until this project. Thanks!
As a mechanical engineer, now i got the clear picture how the gear drive is.
When i see that in video animation it loooks a huge and complicated matter, seeing you doind this today , i am under the impression i lay a big burden on the ground.

Unfortunately, this isn't how real transmissions work at all. It's just a fun project.

It still needs the reverse. But still, wow, beautiful work. Thank you for that.

so cool. great way for peopel to understand how thier manual transmission works
Not realy. Because there are no synchros and in any manual transmission no matter if it's a car or motorcycle you always go through neutral between gears.
Also, all gears stay connected to each other, unlike this example.
It's nicely executed, but completely unusable in a modern car.
우와~~정말 기가막히게 잘 구성했네요~감사합니다^^

6:15 really grinds my gears.
Tu as compris et confirmé
Here is the part you came for 5:06
Thanks

Buen video ....estuvo interesante la forma en que de un carton lo transformaron en una caja de cambios ....yo también quisiera intentarlo 😊
It's a Norton gear, one of the oldest gearbox in the machine tool application
Does it have a clutch system?
The clutch isn't part of a gearbox, its a separate thing, usually connected on the side of. All it does it let's a % of the engines power to go down the shaft which in here the motor is on. If 0% none are spinning so safe to change into gear without grinding
Would this be considered sequential?
@@halohunter5217 Absolutely, as there is no way to select a gear without going through the intermediary gears.

Great way of showcasing the basics of how a gearbox/transmission works. I might be trying to build one myself soon.
no real gearboxes work differently and this is not related to it
@@BenJohnson12345 This is a "Sliding Mesh" transmission, so technically they were built like this at one point
@@xaviert.123 i have done research about this and this mechanism cant even handle a 2 stroke engine but its a good demonstration of gear ratio
@@BenJohnson12345 Yep, hence why we moved away from them! Many moons ago, namely on trucks, take the 1941 Chevy AK for example, you had to double clutch them to sync up the transmission speed for it to work properly.
Edit: Correction, looking back on the video, the design featured is also different to the "Sliding Mesh" transmission that I have mentioned
Well done. Congratulations!!!
Imagine making such an amazing model and a classroom bully comes and step on it!
