So it's a song, based on Pokemon, that's only been released once on a Canada only compilation album. The break down at one point is literally just Jigglypuff singing.
From the DYKGaming episode, and I have to say, this channel is very underrated! Good mic quality, awesome editing, and good content! I watched the WB quite a bit but don't have any memories of gen1 on it, since I watched a good majority of the indigo league on old VHS tapes. When it came to Gen3, the WB was the only thing I watched Pokemon on and seeing the logo and the old bumpers really brings back some nostalgia. Keep up the quality content! On to watch other videos of yours!
Anyone else remember an early WB or 4Kids halloween time commercial, where a ton of cartoon characters would be play yugioh but summoning kids screams, I vividly remember Ash faced off against Yugi and losing
I remember my brother and I waking up early to watch Pokemon on Kids WB. We used to record them using tapes in our VCR because DVR wasn’t around yet. I miss those days of my childhood.
Why is everyone here so old? I’m 15 and got introduced to the series back in 2009 on Cartoon Network. DP and Sinnoh have remained my favorite ever since.
as someone who was also introduced to pokemon by watching the anime on ytv as a kid, this vid was so interesting to watch! also really love the music choices too, i noticed some pokemon stadium (freakin loved that game as a kid, still do!!!) pokemon puzzle league and soundtracks from the anime, great video!
I only just started watching cable TV again after years of not caring for it, and I was so shocked to see Pokemon Sun and Moon airing on Teletoon instead of YTV! Super glad I was able to find this video soon afterwards and have another Canadian to take me down memory lane.
As a kid growing up in Houston Texas I remember we didn't have satellite or cable at times but we still got Kids WB so I loved being able to watch Pokemon.
I'm from the States but this vid brings back some sweet memories of watching Pokemon and playing the games! I lost track of the cartoon sometime after it switch over to CN but I still keep up with any movies that come out and I still play the games :)
I don't have any YTV vhs recordings unfortunately, but (if I can figure out how to do it) I can say that I have a loooooot of recordings from the Family channel (basically a Canadian version which showed most of the Disney shows back in the day) that could be interesting! I like your videos about old Canadian content because you actually have your own recordings to back it up! I'd LOVE to see more! I'm so nostalgic for old station bumpers! Especially the likes of YTV, TVO, and Family!
i was too young to watch kidsWB (or at least remember it,i was made in 2004) but there is something about seeing the ads make me nostalgic, mabie its because 1 or 2 years ago i whould binge black and white and orange islands and origanal series on netflix and thinking about that fills me with nostalga.also the johto journeys theme song is also something im nostalgic for since i watched pokemon on boomerang (remeber that?)
I remember watching Pokemon XY on YTV before school but I couldn't finish an episode because my school started so early and I just stoped watching XY before school.
I remember when they first started airing Pokemon on Cartoon Network. kidsWB was somewhere in early Johto and as a kid I missed most of the early episodes from season 1 (the earliest I can remember on WB was Orange Islands), so I was super hyped to see the first episodes for the first time.
I remember seeing dragon Ball on UPN, and the Pokemon episode where a town was spilt between two gangs and Pikachu always had a bottle of ketchup, scyther sliced the bottle in half and pikachu went berserk.
Oh my god, i remember watching Pokemon at 4pm on YTV when i was a kid. My goodness that YTV was a good hidden gem only Canadians got to experience. Awesome video man!
My fondest YTV & Pokemon moment was staying up till 5am to watch my cousin's recording of the first Pokemania that had just recently aired. I'll also never forget being fourth in line to the Pokemon: The First Movie premiere at my city's only theatre.
Yup. My brother and I got Mewtwo, my sister got Dragonite, and my mom got Electabuzz. We were in the line for over an hour. By the end, the line stretched around the block and people were being turned away.
FELLOW CANADIAN! I wish I was part of this area of childhood. I was born in 2001, and looking back on what Canadian television used to be is so cool. I sometimes wish I lived in the 90s myself from this stuff. :3
As a Canadian millenial myself, when we were growing up we didn't have satellite TV but did have access to KTLA, so there were places in Canada where you could get the WB without satellite. We lived near a military base in the 90s and early 2000s so we had a very basic analog cable with ~45 channels too.
@@TheCartoonGamer8000 I'm just surprised to find that there were Canadians who didn't get the WB by default. We didn't get a cable box until we moved to Winnipeg in 2004 but before then we got all the major American networks. I was partial to Digimon as a kid so Fox Kids was on in the morning a lot, but we saw lots of Kids WB because we liked Animaniacs and Jackie Chan Adventures.
@@KibblezanBitz Yeah, the WB was the only one I didn’t get out of all the main stuff. I got Fox, CBS, ABC and NBC, but WB was the outlier. Even now the CW affiliates I gotta pay extra for if I want them (but since they don’t have cartoons any more, I don’t).
Great video man! i still have a handful of Kids WB eps on tape too! The first Pokemon episode I ever watched was either the famous Pikachu vs Raichu Electric Shock Showdown or March of the Exeggutor on UPN the morning of my last year of middle school.
The sad thing...I never watched Pokemon on either network. For one, I was born in 96. So, the original run was out. I'm American. So, Ytv is out. I did have WB, but I still didn't watch it on there. At least originally. I began watching around 2000/01, when the show was rerunning on Cartoon Network. Then when Cartoon Network did catch up, and I could finally watch it on KidsWB..It changed to Cartoon Network. That's when I heard the voice change happened. And it through me off.
god my heart aches, i miss the old ytv, god seeing the coming up next slides really got me, i used to watch d&p all the time when it was on, i'd be at home at lunch and it would always be 5 or 10 minutes into the episode, but those i days i came home early were amazing, god i really do miss what ytv was. holy shit, i've never talked about this stuff before, i don't know why but this video got to me
This video was fantastic and surprised It has so little views. I didn't know I could have nostalgia for an actual TV station. In my case, it was YTV. I remember getting home from school and watching Pokemon at 4pm eastern every day of the week after school-of course along with Yu-gi-oh, Reboot, Digimon, etc, around those times. Oh boy, was it nostalgic at the end of the video "KEEPIN' IT WEIRD on YTV!" Thanks for the fun and charming video TheCartoonGamer8000 :)
As an American, I have no memories of YTV other than their logo appearing on imported cartoons, but I absolutely have good memories of watching Pokemon on Kids' WB. I've had cable for most of my life, but that never stopped me from watching the likes of One Saturday Morning, Fox Box, and of course, Kids' WB (which is why I think the idea that cable was the only killer of SatAM cartoons is bull). I remember in elementary school, my brother and I would race home to watch Pokemon on the weekday afternoon lineup, and waking up early to watch it (among other shows) on Saturday mornings. I remember the day of the premiere of Whiscash and Ash (the one where a Whiscash ate a Master Ball), when we debated whether to watch it or a new Sonic X. We went with Sonic because, as far as we were concerned, Pokemon would replay the new episode on Friday, like they had the past few weeks. But when we tuned in to Kids' WB that Friday, we got a rerun of another episode. Goddammit. I also remember when Destiny Deoxys premiered on the network. It was a pretty big event to see the premiere of a new Pokemon movie on TV, so we got up early to watch the whole block (even Yu-Gi-Oh!, which I never cared for), and were rewarded with the debut of Munchlax, the first new Pokemon from Gen 4, and our first glimpse of Diamond and Pearl.
A couple more notes. Sylvester singing the theme was pretty funny, but that's got nothing on BATMAN singing the Jigglypuff song. Also a minor correction: WSBK was UPN, not The WB. I know this by memory, because we used to watch syndicated episodes of South Park and The Three Stooges on it, and Boston Red Sox games used to air on it (they're now exclusive to NESN on cable). I live in Western Massachusetts, which only had three major stations for a long time (NBC affiliate WWLP, ABC affiliate WGGB, and PBS station WGBY), so Charter here in Chicopee had to pick up stations from Connecticut and Boston to make up for the lack of stations (they still carry WSBK today).
Maaaaan! Kids WB really was the best! I remember waking up in the wee-early mornings on Saturdays, and just spending the whole morning watching all the shows (but mostly waiting for Pokemon!). Their commercials were fantastic, and their original promos were just ingenious (ex. Batman singing Jigglypuff's song to put Robin to sleep at bedtime). Those really were the best days of my life!
Kids WB Pokémon watchers: anyone else remember the one Saturday block dedicated to Pokémon Across The World or something? Because I can clearly remember that one block and they played the Pokerap in different languages in some commercial blocks... but I can’t remember if they played any Japanese language references...
I remember the Pokemon anime was on before school, like at 6-7AM. It used to be on a different channel other than WB. Once it got big, I remember the WB cartoon block adding Pokemon.
When it comes to old stuff, I get very intrigued about it. Including Pokemon. I was born in 2003 and didn't get into Pokemon until the beginning of the Black and White (Best Wishes) series on CN. With this video, I saw things I've never saw or heard in my life up until this point. Since Kids WB was dead and I don't live in Canada, it kinda makes you feel like you missed out on something good. Luckly, I managed to find the first 3 Pokemon movies, so I do see some WB action. :)
Yeah now they only air new terrible Spongebob and Fairly Odd Parents episodes, shitty Nick sitcoms and low budget cartoons that came out in 2006-2008 which no one watches. And also they keep showing straight to DVD movies on weekends which are CRAP. -First came the disappearance of CN shows which gave diversity between Nick shows, Canadian shows and Anime. They got rid of it because they made a deal with Nick. -Then came the fall of 95% of all anime as the only ones that were left were Pokemon and on occasion other things. -Finally they got rid of Pokemon which (except for old reruns of Spongebob) made YTV unwatchable
Mudkip971 And now they are nothing more than a clone of Nickelodeon that just doesn't need to exist anymore with the existence of Nickelodeon Canada. Yet, Corus seems to treat that network like trash for some reason.
Exactly YTV is just a hollow shell of something that once was. The only reason it still exist is probably because of Canadian culture protection laws which is stupid in of itself because of the fact that 90% of YTV is Nick shows. YTV should start showing more CN shows, show more old shows on occasion, remove almost if not all sitcoms, give Carlos a proper Cohost for god sakes, MAKE A FREAKIN CANADIAN TOONAMI BLOCK...c'mon it's not that hard to do. In the Toonami block they could show old and new anime dubs. I'm sure people would be happy to watch the current One Piece Dub and DBZ Kai + Super.
Mudkip971 I always thought YTV only existed today because more networks under their belt means more money for Corus. But really, the only thing I can think of as to what to do with YTV. Just rename the network as Nickelodeon. It's not like there's going to be much of a difference content wise.
I remember watching Pokemon on YTV as a kid too! In fact the very first episode that I watched was the Squirtle Squad one. Kinda sucks that they got rid of it and move it to Teletoon, now don't get me wrong I like Teletoon. I just think that YTV should've kept some of the shows that are on their channel, sadly no as they have become modern Nickelodeon 2.0. Good thing that I can watch it online. Plus I have some of the seasons of Pokemon on DVD too!
Love Pokémon! Long time fan . Been a fan all my life and still am , always will be. Loved kids wb back in the day. Those were great times. Ah the memories
I recorded a LOT of KidsWB Saturday mornings and those little dubbed promos and gags were just the best. A promo they did I remember the most was 'Pokemon Around the World' month where they'd air the Intro and songs in other languages. It was a big treat to hear the PokeRap in Spanish, Swedish, German etc. I need to somehow get em off my VHS tapes.
I don't remember watching Pokemon on WB too much, but I remember there was an ad that involved Ash throwing a Poke Ball at Treecko with it sending it back and catching Ash instead. I don't remember it too well but I'm pretty sure that it exists.
There was one where Ash threw a Poke-Ball at a Scizor, and Scizor blew up the ball by crushing it with its pincers, and Ash just stands there. Sounds similar to what you saw.
That Sylvester singing rge Pokemon theme song is unironicly the funniest shit ive ever seen. From the movement to that "no one ever waAaAaAaAs" hahahaha omg too good
I'm from the US (though lived on a border state), yet...the YTV promos in this video look familiar to me? Even the "skit" stuff from the two actors on YTV look super familiar. But I can't remember what I'd even be watching on YTV. I only watched the Kanto season of Pokemon, and most of the other YTV programming I could easily catch on Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network. Your video is making me question my sanity now, thanks.
And what's going on now? Now you can find Pokémon on TELETOON in Canada as previously mentioned and Disney XD in America. As for Kids' WB! and YTV. Well, Kids' WB! is dead. (Quick side note but I have made a new fanmade Saturday Morning Block for The CW called The CW Kids!) And YTV has become nothing more than a clone of Nickelodeon that doesn't need to exist anymore now that we have Nick Canada. Seriously though. Corus treats that Network like trash.
Dixon Entertainment for some reason they never play The Loud House on the Canadian Nickelodeon channel so if i ever want to watch that i go to YTV, other than that, yeah, the channel has kinda gone to crud.
I'm not even Canadian and I still can't believe there's a CN/Corus network in the world that is badly treated and horribly controlled. I saw a continuity for Canadian CN and it's a biggest mess than any other CN feed in the world, next to the HQ/Eastern Europe feed.
Is it weird to feel sorry for a channel I've never seen and therefore have no nostalgic emotional attachment too? Because the way you guys talk about YTV makes me feel that way. Maybe it's because here in the UK on CBBC we got YTV shows like Mona the Vampire, UBOS and Yvon of the Yukon, and also Fairly Odd Parents, Rugrats, Wild Thornberry's and Kenan and Kel (Yes, I know they're Nick shows but they had a "Distributed internationally by Corus/YTV" endcap after the Nick logo). Therefore I feel a slight emotional attachment to their shows. Of course, it wasn't until much later when I grew up that I actually found out what YTV was like as a channel. I'm guessing they were a little like CBBC in their presentation: ua-cam.com/video/K6LJR-Syf1Q/v-deo.html - Admittedly that video is a little bit crazy because the two presenters "hijacked" the afternoon block.
I still got a couple of vhs tapes full of YTV recordings. Episodes of Spider-man, Pokemon, the old dub of Sailor Moon. I love song the old commercials from when I was a kid.
I mostly remember watching Pokemon on Kids WB in the afternoon (or on VHS, I had a LOT of Pokemon tapes) and some recordings if it DID air at 5AM, since I had school and all.
Been getting recommended Pokemon retrospectives now that the main show is ending. I mainly grew up with the show on VHS, but honestly I wish I had this, these promos are so awesome, almost like a mini version of CN City.
The show's still going, just without Ash. But yeah, it is like CN City - I'm assuming you're from somewhere that got CN but not the WB, like Europe or Australia?
For those who want to see some of the YTV promos I've uploaded (and many more), check them all out on MIKER PHONE's channel. I send him some VHS stuff every now and then, and he uploads stuff every day!

Oh yeah, I've got that one!
Thanks so much! Glad you like what you've seen so far, too!
Anyone else remember an early WB or 4Kids halloween time commercial, where a ton of cartoon characters would be play yugioh but summoning kids screams, I vividly remember Ash faced off against Yugi and losing
what do you mean they summoned kids screams?
yeah I do
Seriously, you brought up some of my best nostalgic Pokemon memories from YTV tv spots, thanks for the trip man.
No problem, dude.
I remember my brother and I waking up early to watch Pokemon on Kids WB. We used to record them using tapes in our VCR because DVR wasn’t around yet. I miss those days of my childhood.
My favorite Looney Tunes character singing one of the best theme songs ever, I love it!
10:21 MOJO JOJO
Jonathan Grenci u Judoon?
Why is everyone here so old? I’m 15 and got introduced to the series back in 2009 on Cartoon Network. DP and Sinnoh have remained my favorite ever since.
Being from Canada WB wasn't readily available, though my grandparents did, and was always weird watching 5-6 episodes ahead on a Saturday morning.
Good old YTV
That bit about the YTV host explaining the delay in premieres is actually pretty neat.
Growing up watching Pokémon on Kid's WB brought back so much memories
as someone who was also introduced to pokemon by watching the anime on ytv as a kid, this vid was so interesting to watch! also really love the music choices too, i noticed some pokemon stadium (freakin loved that game as a kid, still do!!!) pokemon puzzle league and soundtracks from the anime, great video!
Thanks, man! I tried my best to use some of the more nostalgic Pokemon tracks in this one!
YTV and Pokemon were my entire childhood. I'm glad to hear that we both shared similar feelings about that era of TV.
I only just started watching cable TV again after years of not caring for it, and I was so shocked to see Pokemon Sun and Moon airing on Teletoon instead of YTV! Super glad I was able to find this video soon afterwards and have another Canadian to take me down memory lane.
What's with people reminiscing about Kid's WB? It airs every weekday morning in the land down under. And yes, it still airs pokemon episodes.
Well we're not in Australia!
Sailor Moon was the first anime in the WB universe since 1995
As a kid growing up in Houston Texas I remember we didn't have satellite or cable at times but we still got Kids WB so I loved being able to watch Pokemon.
Here in Canada, it is now aired on Teletoon on weekends at noon, or weekdays with reruns at 3:30. Actually, it is Cartoon Network now.
I'm from the States but this vid brings back some sweet memories of watching Pokemon and playing the games! I lost track of the cartoon sometime after it switch over to CN but I still keep up with any movies that come out and I still play the games :)
WBEP (Erie, Pennsylvania) was my local WB Station
I don't have any YTV vhs recordings unfortunately, but (if I can figure out how to do it) I can say that I have a loooooot of recordings from the Family channel (basically a Canadian version which showed most of the Disney shows back in the day) that could be interesting!
I like your videos about old Canadian content because you actually have your own recordings to back it up! I'd LOVE to see more! I'm so nostalgic for old station bumpers! Especially the likes of YTV, TVO, and Family!
i was too young to watch kidsWB (or at least remember it,i was made in 2004) but there is something about seeing the ads make me nostalgic, mabie its because 1 or 2 years ago i whould binge black and white and orange islands and origanal series on netflix and thinking about that fills me with nostalga.also the johto journeys theme song is also something im nostalgic for since i watched pokemon on boomerang (remeber that?)
jaredthebobcat I think boomerang still shows it too
@@Zj2030 I think they do for the old episodes
Awesome video man!
you bringing up the old rogers guide killed meeeee, that’s what you call nostalgia
yo that zoroark movie mix up is what got me back into pokemon
My fondest YTV & Pokemon moment was staying up till 5am to watch my cousin's recording of the first Pokemania that had just recently aired. I'll also never forget being fourth in line to the Pokemon: The First Movie premiere at my city's only theatre.
Whoa, now THAT is pretty insane being the fourth in line. I assume you got a Pokemon card, right?
Yup. My brother and I got Mewtwo, my sister got Dragonite, and my mom got Electabuzz. We were in the line for over an hour. By the end, the line stretched around the block and people were being turned away.
Holy crap. That's a real lucky break there! I got the Mewtwo card when I got the movie on VHS.
Oh, nice! That must have helped out all the trainers who weren't lucky enough to make it to the theatre.
Oh, for sure! When I re-bought the VHS, it had that same card in it (as well as some Nintendo Power flyers and whatnot)!
FELLOW CANADIAN! I wish I was part of this area of childhood. I was born in 2001, and looking back on what Canadian television used to be is so cool. I sometimes wish I lived in the 90s myself from this stuff. :3
Ah, I can't even call myself a 90s kid, either.
Ultimate19th yeah I want to go back to 2003 and 2002 too
TheCartoonGamer8000 so the 2000s are the 90s now? most of this video is 2000s stuff
I never focused on a specific time here.
I didn’t really get into Pokémon until I was a teenager. But I do have a few vhs from my childhood
I remember watching Pokémon on saturdays too
As a Canadian millenial myself, when we were growing up we didn't have satellite TV but did have access to KTLA, so there were places in Canada where you could get the WB without satellite. We lived near a military base in the 90s and early 2000s so we had a very basic analog cable with ~45 channels too.
Oh, cool! I never knew that!
Aw, cool, the UPN stuff! March of the Exeggutor was the last episode to air on syndication before it moved to the WB!
Awe, this is so nostalgic. I still have VHS recordings of Pokemon from the 90s.
I can always count on you for the Pokémon feels and nostalgia
I remember watching Pokemon on YTV when I was a kid. That was my awesome memory and I'm still a fan of Pokemon today.
Mad respect for actually using your own childhood recorded footage, it was a nice little-added touch.
Thanks! Anything to make it all the more personal/authentic. :)
I actually laughed at pika forgetting his lines lmaooo
god my heart aches, i miss the old ytv, god seeing the coming up next slides really got me, i used to watch d&p all the time when it was on, i'd be at home at lunch and it would always be 5 or 10 minutes into the episode, but those i days i came home early were amazing, god i really do miss what ytv was. holy shit, i've never talked about this stuff before, i don't know why but this video got to me
This video was fantastic and surprised It has so little views.
I didn't know I could have nostalgia for an actual TV station. In my case, it was YTV. I remember getting home from school and watching Pokemon at 4pm eastern every day of the week after school-of course along with Yu-gi-oh, Reboot, Digimon, etc, around those times. Oh boy, was it nostalgic at the end of the video "KEEPIN' IT WEIRD on YTV!"
Thanks for the fun and charming video TheCartoonGamer8000 :)
No problem. Glad you liked it, and feel free to share it with anyone who you think would enjoy it, too!
Seen you on DYKG plenty of times, finally coming to watch your videos! Great work, keep it up!
Thanks for sticking around!
I remember watching Pokémon at 7:30 before school then it just blew up
Best YTV Pokemon Comercial: POLKAMANIA
Best YTV Anime Comercial: What If DragonballZ Was An Opera?
Man this brings back memories, thanks for sharing!!
No prob! Glad you enjoyed!
YTV began to suck when they stopped airing anime
100% true
OH GOD this nostalgia is so specific but it hits HARD
I remember watching Pokemon on YTV as a kid too! In fact the very first episode that I watched was the Squirtle Squad one. Kinda sucks that they got rid of it and move it to Teletoon, now don't get me wrong I like Teletoon. I just think that YTV should've kept some of the shows that are on their channel, sadly no as they have become modern Nickelodeon 2.0. Good thing that I can watch it online. Plus I have some of the seasons of Pokemon on DVD too!
Megan Payette I'm still annoyed you don't have daytime anime on Cartoon Network
Love Pokémon! Long time fan . Been a fan all my life and still am , always will be. Loved kids wb back in the day. Those were great times. Ah the memories
Oh man, YTV was the bomb when I was a kid. My TV seemed to be stuck on channel 25.
A Dazzle DVC 100 is a good place to start for capturing. Not too expensive and it's what I use for grabbing footage for tapes and older consoles!
TheCartoonGamer8000 thanks!
To this day I will never sink in Pokemon not airing on the WB own stations. It's like if LEGO lost the rights to make Star Wars brick sets.
Oh man I can vividly remember me getting up early to watch Pokemon at 6:00am on UPN. This was the best part of middle school. :')
11:09 That sounds way better than TTG's annoying Friday promos.
So cool to see this from a Canadian perspective! YTV sure has gone downhill...
You could say the same thing with Cartoon Network
No prob.
Idk why (I mean, I guess I do) but this just made me genuinely happy ^^
This is what I've been saying for the last few years. It's a crying shame.
@@ad3lljfry289 Good news, the Loud House has been added to the schedule.
I still got a couple of vhs tapes full of YTV recordings. Episodes of Spider-man, Pokemon, the old dub of Sailor Moon. I love song the old commercials from when I was a kid.
Pokemon aired on YTV on the same day as the Fox Kids airings.
@@TheCartoonGamer8000 I'm in the west yeah. I didn't actually get to watch the show on TV, I just had some tapes my brother owned.
I loved the Gale of Darkness music nice pick man, I really liked the video!
Thanks, dude!
Wow....I actually remember wishing SO HARD to win that D/P DS giveaway :O
Everybody in my circle of friends was determined to win that one!
"we keepd him on a diet of coke and uh carrots" lol
Great video. I remember all the WB stuff!
5:04
what the fuck? you literally sounded just like Robin from Teen Titans when you were exclaiming about the Misty card. holy shit.
Holy crap dude, that trailer on the Mewtwo strikes back vhs was my jam
