Symphonic Evolutions was so moving. I've been a fan of the franchise since original Red and Blue and hearing and seeing all the fans fill up a theater was awesome. Still have the shirt from the event! 😊
I remember when I saw Mewtwo Strikes Back in theaters as a kid was an event. Granted I was 6 and I didn't know I was about to go into a movie that was a heady symbolism and metaphor filled traumatizing movie about what it means to live, but I doubt any kid did back in the day. Also my dad was asleep the whole time.

I went to the 2018 Pokemon World Championship in Nashville as a spectator. And man, it was just amazing. Anybody that thought Nashville didn't deserve it ( and believe me there was a bunch I was one of the few that was super excited about it since I live so close by.) Had their expectations blown out of the water. The town fully embraced it! Bars were making and serving limited edition Pokemon themed drinks especially to celebrate the event, Pokemon go was still huge so people were all over the place catching Pokemon left and right. But my favorite part though was following a bunch of people looking for the mascot for the Nashville Predators who started handing out joke Pokemon cards featuring the catfish (A good luck charm for their hockey team.) As a Predators fan and a Pokemon fan it was like my two favorite things joined as one for a short time. I also really enjoyed the Heart Gold Soul Silver Pikachu color pichu/ knotched ear Pichu event. It was by far the cutest of the in game events.
Listening to this reminded me that when I was still really into Pokemon (2002-2008 or so) I was living in a rural area in North Carolina and couldn't go to any of the events since convincing my parents to take me 4-5 hours to Raleigh, NC for the 10th anniversary event was impossible. I think the only event I got to be a part of was the Mystry Mew Event that was a promotion for the Lucario Movie at...Toys R Us? My memory on the matter is a little fuzzy. I might have moved at that time, so that also kind of messes with my memory. Only other thing I remember is my brother trading his Shiny Mightyena for a normal Cloyster while we were waiting the couple hours in line to receive Mew and talking with some college age guys that were in line.
I was waiting for the 10th anniversary entry and was disappointed to see that the live event tour wasn't even mentioned. It took place at Space Center Houston in my area. It was kinda like a museum exhibit with a history of pokemon display, games to win prizes, a button making station, Trozei was being demoed before it came out, card games and a merch store. I was 19 at the time and me and my gf were easily the oldest people there that weren't parents. I beat some kids in a game (trivia, I think?) and won an Emerald strategy guide lol. Still have it and the buttons I made there too, as well as a 10th anniversary sticker and pin.
Ah, that's so cool! Yeah, more local stuff passed under my radar (and don't even get me started on stuff outside North America), but that sounds like it was a lot of fun! Props on getting that Emerald strategy guide too, haha.
The Lead up to X&Y was super fun and exciting. I had just gotten back into the series a couple months prior, so it was really fun to jump on the bandwagon with everyone else. Wish I had more fond memories with the games themselves though.
The X&Y/ORAS era is still one of my fav eras if not my fav era of Pokemon with POGO out and the TCG just hit different at the time, and I remember watching for hours on end many passionate content creators uploading constant pokemon vids, rip those were the days
This video gave me all sorts of warm nostalgic feelings. Some of these events I was way too young to even attend or hear about (I'd just been born when the Pokemon 2000 tour was making its rounds) but they still made me wish I could have attended as a kid. The XY hype was definitely the height of my Pokemon fandom, I'll remember picking that game up on release day for the rest of my life. Small note: I distinctly remember seeing Mastermind Of Mirage Pokemon on Cartoon Network one morning before school because I actually got so upset I cried when Mew died xD so that's at least one rerun. I have to assume it was the redub but I'm not sure because it's difficult for me to put a time on. 2006 or 07 maybe?
Yeah, I wish I could've gone to a lot of these, but even hearing about them was awesome. And as for Mastermind, I'm sure it must've rerun on CN but the original Kids' WB version has not resurfaced since. Still, since we didn't have CN in Canada at the time, it could have totally passed me by. Never aired on any Canadian channel.
@@TheCartoonGamer8000 Ahh that makes more sense! Yeah, it's kind of a miracle we still have that version because it's seemingly been buried by the Pokemon Company since the initial airing.
@@joniivee A bit of a shame, because Ash was voiced by Kayzie Rogers in that version, not his current actor Sarah Natochenny. So there's no legal way to see that version anywhere.
@@TheCartoonGamer8000 Yeah, it's really cool on that historical angle. I know people were critical of her at the time but I definitely think Kayzie's take on Ash wasn't bad by any means. Even Sarah needed some time to improve.
@@joniivee Yeah, I believe with enough time in the role she could’ve been a great Ash! She actually voiced him in a Burger King commercial in 2000, but that was just one line haha.
I remember the 20th anniversary and the leadup to X and Y very well. The latter was actually the first time I followed a Pokémon game from announcement to release. And I have done that with every other core Pokémon game since then too.
This video hit me right in the nostalgia I actually had and still might have one of those Burger King Pokémon cards I have the one with Dragonite on it I remember someone gave it to me in elementary school in 2005 or 2006 I think. I forgot all about Dookieshed too I use to watch his videos.
The lead up to Pokémon X & Y was what made me a Pokémon fan again. I fell off the franchise after Gen 3 and when I saw the trailers showing Pokémon in 3D, the new Fairy typing, Mega Evolutions, and Charizard finally turning into a dragon; I had to play it. In fact, I just finished replaying it just a few days ago.
I did go to Pokemon Symphonic Evolutions in my area with my friend who was also a big Pokemon fan and my little bother was amazing hearing all the song preformed by a orchestra was so beautiful! Same thing happed to my group they only knew the first part of the song lol at least I tried to sing the rest. Also I got to meet the conductor I let her know that she and her orchesta did a wounderful job and she signed my poster and was really cool seeing all the fellow fans made me so happy to be a Pokemon fan! I also still have the shirt and poster I got from the event
Huh, another fun fact about Andrew Rannells is that he voiced Archie Andrews in series Archie's Weird Mysteries which I remember watching on Qubo a few years back. How I miss that channel after it left the air last year in February. My favorite event was Pokemon Rocks America in 2005 because it was the first one I ever got to go to. It was in one of the parking lots of Mall Of America in Minnesota, got to go there and get the Arora Ticket so I could get Deoxys, man was it a fun time.
Awesome vid man. I love Pokemon so much. It's been a part of my life for many years. It influenced me to write my first book and it is now ten years old. I owe it all to Pokemon
One of the big ones I remember going to was the temporary Pokemon Center in London, mainly because Sword and Shield is based on my home country of the UK. This is a big deal as Europe doesn't have a Pokemon Center yet (Canada's opened recently) so getting merchandise like that was a BIG deal. Here's hoping that a permanent one opens online over here.
It's funny that you put the lead-up to X & Y as your #1, as that's something that I can look back on fondly in much the same way. I didn't make any UA-cam videos, but as far as I know, I was one of the main, and fastest, reporters on new information for X & Y on this app called Video Game Amino, (does anyone still use the Aminos?) Regardless of how good the actual game was, X & Y was kind of my grand return to Pokemon, and I will always be grateful of that.
Specifically the release of the first movie. I live in the Netherlands, so we never got the amount of spoils America had, but it was pretty grand all things considered. My mom absolutely hated every part of seeing the movie, as I'm sure many parents there did, but I was so happy.
Me and my brother went to the Pokémon League Nintendo Training Tour ‘99. That’s how we got Mew in our Gen 1 games. I also remember going to the Pokémon Trading Card Game League with my brother which was held at a TOYS ‘R’ US.
Some of my favorite Pokemon Events I've been too not mentioned are Pokemon TCG Regionals, Pokemon Go Fest (Every one in Chicago that is) and the Pokemon Go Summer of 2016
