- Time to learn some of the most obscure trivia to grace the Pokemon world. From taking a look behind-the-scenes of the English dub, to the original Japanese, to even some of the video games, you've never seen a trivia video quite like this one, if I do say so myself.

Maddie was such a treasure bless her soul
I swear, Victreebel's cry needs a jump scare warning, whether it's airing on TV or re-airing online...
I agree
that maddie blaustein clip was both very lovely and sad to hear... she was so dedicated to her role! i love inuyuma's nyarth but maddie's meowth will always have a special place in my heart... good job on the video!
Same here! As a kid, I loved the Pokémon 4Ever commentary. It was really fun listening to the cast and directors stories about working on the movie and the TV show, which I think it was during the Johto League Champions area at the time. I still remembered the first time I herd Maddie as Meowth.
It was on a Game Boy video where is contained two episodes of Pokémon, and the very first episode I encountered was: “Go West, Young Meowth”.
She is the best person to do voice over. She also did Cubix as a villain.
I believe the reason Victreebel has a Bloodcurdling scream is because it’s evolutionary line is based on the Mandrake Root. Which in mythology is said to let out a scream capable of killing any who here it. Ironic because Oddish has more in common with it. Although, Victreebel is also based on the carnivorous PITCHER plant.
Here's another relatively unknown fact. During that diamond and pearl episode with Regigigas going crazy, at one point in the Dutch dub you can hear a recording of the director correcting the Dutch voice of Ash.
Haha, no way!
@@TheCartoonGamer8000 Yeah when I first heard it I was pretty surprised to notice such a slip up. And it's still kept in the Pokemon TV showing of that episode to this day.
XD interesting, I'll have to watch that later
Usually not a fan of Pokemon "trivia' videos on any channel--as they're mostly things that fans already know--but this was REALLY well researched and uncovered some incredibly niche and well-appreciated information! I would love to hear more stories form behind the scenes of the show that best defined my childhood. Fantastic work, and thank you for this!
Thank YOU for the kind words! And who knows, maybe more info will crop up in the future!
@@TheCartoonGamer8000 I really hope so. I know you have some connections with the voice actors on the show! I would love to hear more interviews with any of the actors or those involved with the show in any other capacity. Your dedication to extracting previously unknown info about the show is definitely my favorite thing about your channel.
@@BackwardsHat Thanks, dude! My upcoming interview with Marc Thompson should shed a little bit more light on some stuff behind the scenes, and I'd love to learn as much as I can from others who worked on the series and share it with others.
@@TheCartoonGamer8000 Dude! Sweet! I will definitely be tuning in:)
Wow! Maddie even sounds like Meowth in her normal voice! 😲
I didn’t know Cathcart has been with the dub ever since the beginning!!! That’s pretty neat, and actually really sweet he took over James and Meowth after the dub company switches
He has also said that even if higher-ups asked him to replicate James' and Meowth's old voices, he wouldn't have done it. That's actually quite respectful in many ways.
Another fun fact about Maddie Blaustein: She was a trans girl, making her possibly the first transgender person to dub in anime
weren't they intersex as well? i remember seeing something about that.
She was born Intersex, but assigned Male at birth. I think she was Matthew at first.
Ms. Blaustein's birth name was Adam, according to Wikipedia.
@@lugiae Ah, thanks for the info.
Maddie Blaustein was a treasure. I don't care what anyone says.
It's not an opinion, but a fact.
She voiced Rassimov from Huntik: Secrets and Seekers and Overkill from G.I. Joe Sigma Six.RIP Madeline Blaustein :(
I really love these kind of videos. I love learning a bunch of weird or obscure facts about voice over being a VA myself and I love hearing about the behind the scenes stuff, especially on something like Pokemon. Great job on the video
Thanks, man! I'm glad you enjoyed!
Oh, and nice work with the interview w/Marc Thompson, too. :)
I knew almost none of this so it was insanely cool. I especially liked hearing about both Japanese voices being retained and the origins of some Pokemon voices. I don't think I've heard any Pokemon voice actors outside of Veronica Taylor, Eric Stuart, Rachel Lillis, and Sarah Natochenny talk about working on the show so hearing Maddie (through the audio commentary which I will now have to seek out) and Bill talk about theirs was especially cool. You did a good job of being concise and still cohesive. Great stuff!
Thanks for the kind words, dude! I’m glad the video didn’t come out disjointed for people, and yeah, that Pokemon 4Ever commentary is a goldmine of info and laughs.
This was super interesting. I don’t think I’ve heard Maddie’s normal speaking voice before
I LOVE the amount of obscure voice actor trivia you shove down my throat. Please never stop.
Never will.
There's one thing I noticed, but I'm not sure it's right... I saw the Japanese intro for the First Movie remake, and I swear the pirate guy is voiced by the same guy who talked in Pokemon Ierukana other than Imakuni and the girl. Weird American accent and all.
Yes, that is Raymond Johnson! Part of the band that made many of the songs from the original Japanese version:)
This is all so cool. I had no idea about any of these. Especially the Pokemon Snap stuff and mixture of original Japanese and dubbed voices. I've always loved voice acting too so thank you and also all the comments down here too for giving up some awesome trivia. Really cool :D
I didn't know most of these myself; great video! I've always wanted to know how Rikako Aikawa does those Victreebel screams lol. I'm looking forward to new trivia about Journeys, especially since TPCi seems to have finally branched out to LA-based voice actors
Jwanie I’m not sure what you mean by “finally”, though I do think it’s cool.
Wow, this was very interesting listening to this. Some I already knew, but some I didn't.
14:46 Funny thing when I saw Snubbull in Pikachu's Vacation as a kid I thought it looked and sounded like Edgar G. Robinson abit. Glad I wasn't the only one that thought that. 😅
Bill Rogers did a fantastic job croagunk ended up being a memorable pokemon to me and glad to hear the passion he put into his favorite mon!
Me on DYKGClips: Oh the new creator showcase, lets see who it is...
Me: I KNOW THAT VOICE!
Thanks for helping me to appreciate Pokémon voice acting way more than I already did!
This was super interesting! I never thought about the differences of the Pokemon sounds between the English and Japanese versions.
Have you seen the poketoon yet? Who I'm I kidding you probably was the first person see it's definitely the kind of thing that would be right up your alley
Yes I have! Not bad!
This stuff is very interesting! Especially the overlap situations. Spotting more obscure moments like this always intriguing.
Great video! Hope you can make more like this!
It’s funny, Hitmonlee’s Japanese cry actually sounds like it’s saying Psyduck.
I love trivia videos like these! Keep it up!
I always wondered why Hitmonlee in Smash sounded like he was saying "Psyduck, psy-psy-psy!"
The English voice for Pikachu sounds more familiar to me than I thought it would. Was her voice also used in the early merch perhaps?
It's definitely possible! I tried doing some extra research but I couldn't find enough in time.
I love doing snubbles voice. Obviously no where near as good as that gentlemen but its my favorite voice to do :D
3:43 Used in Super Smash Brothers For Nintendo 64 in Saffron City
I always wondered why Meowth’s scream sounded like that. Props to Maddie for taking cues from the Japanese actress.
It was always wierd to me (and many smash 64/pokemon fans) that Hitmonlee said "Psyduck"
This was awesome! I noticed several of these facts and wondered what the backstory was! Now I know :)
dude this was super interesting thanks for this video!
Definitely like to see another video of this 😂
And now I’m subscribed to you because of this video
8:20 Where is the Diamond and Pearl Preview you mentioned?
Also, Dawn is my favorite!
Look up "Pokemon Diamond and Pearl commercial" and it should come up
I literally showed it.
Fun Fact: In The Case of the K-9 Caper!, There's a picture of a Psyduck on Team Rocket's second gas canister is a reference to Psyduck's high-pitched Japanese voice.
I can see that being a reference!
Very good your channel is awesome and keep up the good work
11:36 Emily Bauer-Jenness :)
the voice of meowth is.... dead😢😭just makes the classics even more special.
Great video, it's very informative.
All of these facts were very interesting to listen to.
Thoguht you were gonna talk about pokémon puzzle league’s dub. I always thought some of those voices were unique to the game
I love this videos, makes me wanna dona similar one in Spanish. I wanna think it’s more consistent than the English one.
Edit: anyone knows how many voices Ash has in English?
Three. Veronica Taylor, Sarah Natochenny and Kayzie Rogers (though in this case, only in the initial dub of Mastermind of the Mirage Pokemon and a Burger King commercial).
Wow Even the English voice of meowth likes the Japanese version of him and so do I
You missed a Japanese clip that skipped through. In stage fight from the orange islands, when Raichu shocks Meowth he has his Japanese scream.
I’m sure I skipped many.
@@TheCartoonGamer8000 it’s cool. I think your content is really cool. I’ve learned a lot of the dub changes from here.
Where can i find the camanatry clips of maddie
JESUS CHRIST!! 9:50
This was so fun!
4:41 4:42 4:43 4:44 Hitmonduck
1:04 getting some real cursed image vibes from that photo
cool vid
wtf i love croagunk now
anyone else grow up thinking the pokemon bus driver was chris farley... cuz i did.
Did the voice for croagunk come back in pokken? Cause if he didn't it's a crime
The Pokemon in Pokken don't have English voices, nor was it dubbed by the usual group of people.
I believe the Pokken cast was made up of English-speaking Japan-based voice actors
HollyBlueAgitated Yes!
watch the movie Ruins then tell me victory bells screams aren't the stuff of nightmares
Smart
How do you even get into voice overs
I really don't have a clear answer for that. What do you mean exactly?
TheCartoonGamer8000 how do you get into voice acting?
@@MazterP28 To put it simply as I can, you become an actor first and foremost. Everyone has their own way of getting into it.
