All of Inarius’ angelic traits were stripped away from him piece by piece. He lost status when he abandoned the heavens and the war to make sanctuary. I think being imprisoned for all that time rotted him mentally. Lillith broke him down physically. Now he could be made anew, fully consumed by hatred and rejection.
Mephisto said that: hatred was already in Inarius heart and that he (Mephisto) worked over it

and that would make sense if these beings were complete but they are not, they are fragments of the one.
Similar to the theory in this vid, I too like to think inarius isn't dead. In hellsing anime when police girl lost her arm she formed this otherworldly looking limb to replace it with some kind of blood magic she inherited from Alucard. When inarius reborn in hell I think his wings will reform but in a similar visceral blood-like texture and hue. What I want to know is if we'll get to see what under the hood when he rises again😱😎
@mightymurph3949 This is a really good take! And horrifying to think about. Angels are regimented to a fault but Inarius is erratic. When you read his old lore entries he sounds like a desillusioned but well intentioned soldier instead of an angelic dictator.
I personally liked how Inarius was handled. He was tortured for eons - ANYONE would be batshit crazy and desperate after that. In addition, I think the prophecy was referring to him after all... just not in the way he wanted. He resented and loathed Sanctuary, and in the end... the true heart of hatred was pierced. His.

How the cinematic shadows inarius as Lilith approaches with her wings at his back seems very foreshadowing.

@@adrianoluccas9012 Can't really stole from their own product. Maybe borrow is better word. However, that whole scene where inarius enters that "room" reminds me of Zeratul and Kerrigan cutscene in starcraft 2: wings of liberty
I liked the fate of Inarius, he was so blind by his quest to return to heaven he ignored any path of reason, it was the angels who handed him to hell in the first place, wanting to return to the conflict he wanted to break away from and his complete and total belief in what he believed the prophecy to be. And when he finally saw that heaven doesn't want him, that they could see him the whole time and they simply ignored him, his already shattered mind just goes haywire and refuses to accept what's happening and then the prophecy gets fulfilled when his spear pierces hatreds heart, his own.
There was also foreshadowing in the cutscene. As she says, "The Heavens do not speak to you anymore," her wings come up behind him as though they are his demon wings. It felt intentional.
I'm glad you mentioned that. When I watched the cutscenes again I felt like that was definitely supposed to be symbolism for how far he has fallen. Though I didn't start thinking about the possible foreshadowing until these theories started popping up. Overall it's a very sick looking image

I really like how grim this fate is for Inarius. We see him fight, lose his conviction, and die a horrible death. He was God, but also a lost child wanting to go home, and was easily taken advantage of. Lilith loved him, sure, but he never knew the right thing to do. Once he disowned Sanctuary, that was it.
At one point he was the strongest angel. Although it was the world stone, even before it was said he was a great fighter or something so like he’s a prime candidate for Satan. I just hope they. Make him look less monstery and more sinister like Satan how they describe Lucifer to be. Except with the blond hair inarius is known for. Maybe he could take on a mortal appearance in hell but idk.

I wonder if love could exist for Lilith. Like 2 “lovers” wishing the other to be what they fantasized, then hating each other when reality crumbles the facade of both lovers. That image, the fantasy of wishing to create this and that with that partner, is not based in reality and so it crumbles and fall.
Yet, Lilith was the one who freed Inarius from hell. Could it be stockholm syndrome too?

A Lilith wouldnt kill him, you can see the hesitation multiple times .. but Inarius wanted to massacre her children, thus she killed all angels and demons and Inarius banished her .. he is father who never wanted kids but didnt know what he was doing ..
You could say he was like 16 years old virgin who had sex for the first time, the child was born, did not wanted the child, wanted to kill it with friends, mother killed the friends .. father banished mother and exploited kids, made them work from 3 years old to make money so he dont have to ..
It was Inarius who lacked the real conviction, betrayed Heavens, betrayed Lilith, betrayed humans and in the end, betrayed himself.

Those are quite the theories. With Lilith’s blood entering Inarius through his wings before ripping them off, it’s possible that inarius could be reformed as a demon similarly to how izual was remade.😶
Inarius IS his wings. The tentacles you see are the actual angels, the armor is just a means to give them a body.

@@gameover9390 Tyrael is a special case since he cast off his own wings. It was a symbolic gesture intended to show that he defied his own angelic nature.

I honestly HOPE he comes back, because I absolutely loved his characterization and would have loved to see a lot more of him. Hell, I was hoping we would get to fight him during the end sequence of the campaign. Sadly, that didn't happen, but his cinematic with Lilith is by far my favorite of the entire game, maybe even the entire franchise. The way he just completely breaks down after realizing that the Heavens have turned their back on him (seemingly) and the way he screams in pure agony when Lilith rips him apart... Really powerful stuff. The only regret that I have is not having seen more of him throughout the campaign
Already commenting after first sentence, but I love how they portray Inarius, the dude is just shattered. From the death cinematic, you can tell two things. First, he fives NO SHITS about the poeple who worship him. As the knights fight Inarius could have wiped out every demon there with a few more angelic whirlwinds but he focuses only on chasing Lilith. Second, his time imprisoned by Mephisto OWNED him. After stabbing Lilith he looks to the tortured souls for answers. These things probably SCREWED with him for millennia, convincing him he needed to kill Lilith, before Inarius "escaped".
Another tin foil theory - Mephisto got to Prava as well. She was buried in demons in the cinematic, but when you find her she's laying there alive with the soulstone. Would not one of Lilith's demons have brought this treasure to Lilith? Now the cathedral is "killing the Horadrim and searching for the soulstone" per Iosef. I'm sure Mephisto would appreciate its retrieval.
That theory does sound good. Inarius I believe was definitely blinded by pride and a somewhat God complex. I was surprised to see him so desperate to return to the Heavens after being, well "sacrificed" by his fellow angelic commanders in order to obtain peace after the Sin War. Now, I'm new to this fascinating lore, but Inarius did kill Rathma (his son) and attempted to kill Lilith as a form of sacrifice or redemption acts to gain back his place in the Heavens, but even then, he was rejected once more. May be this could be the final straw for Inarius?
Anyways, I believe his character is very interesting and has a lot of potential so hopefully we'll see more of him in the future...
He wasn't simply sacrificed.
As Lilith told him, they simply don't even care about him any more.
They broke with him for the theft of the Worldstone and the creation of Sanctuary - the conception of the Nephalem was just another wrinkle adding on to that.
Honestly though I wish it had been humsns who delivered that blow - and specifically a Priest of Rathma.
Dark LORE Dash did a video about Heaven potentially already being overrun / destroyed by evil. It is shown in official artwork. Maybe Inarius heard no call from Heaven because it's already fallen. It's stated that Inarius was tortured in hell for 'a few millennia', so who knows what's happened to Heaven if the time scale is thousands of years.

I have a feeling the angels simply left Inarius to rot in Hell though and most likely did not pay close attention enough while Inarius managed to escape. The escape of Inarius from his imprisonment still feels like a gray area to me. But we may see more corrupted angels in the future as well.
Definitely a theory I can agree with. Diablo lore has always felt like a rewriting of western theology especially Catholicism. lets take a look at some theology tropes. Inarius x Lilith is a re imagining of Adam and Eve. Sanctuary is the retelling of the garden of Eden. The knowledge/catalyst to create said garden/sanctuary is the world stone/apple. The creation of life is forbidden and goes against the plans of the creator or can be seen as usurping his design. Inarius kills his first borne son (also a religious trope) instead of being commanded too do it. It is rewritten as Inarius' own belief that he would find redemption in doing so.(Abraham killing Issac.) Now this is my speculation but during the cut scene we see the faces of the damned contort and misshapen. I don't believe that is actually happening and what that imagery is expressing is Inarius' mental state. Which has been already weaken through a millennia of torture and Lilith's manipulation. (Notice how Lilith confronts him. She uses specific words to poke and prod at his insecurities. Where as Inarius is physically trying to Attack her.) Anyways lovely lore and a creative retelling of Western Theologies. I hope ya'll look forward to seeing where the writers take the story. Cheers friends.
I believe the angels knew Inarius escaped and thought they could use that to their advantage. This perspective makes me believe the angels manipulated Inarius to cause chaos in Sanctuary. They didn't want Inarius to be free, create another world for himself, or find love.
I thought Lilith's demon wings behind Inarius was ominous. And his story really felt incomplete.
The bit that gets me is the despair in inarius voice, if he comes back hes going to be hellbent on revenge for everone, it makes sense that he would actually be a bigbad

That ending was perfection. Inarius’ fate felt natural. To want an image of being back in heaven, to pine for validation and approval from those who refuse to even heed his existence… it’s suffice to say he only “led” the cathedral for his own delusions. And only with humans’ worship and blind faith, could he feel slightly more important VS a discarded piece of trash. He really only used humans as steps in attempt to get back up to heaven.
And in the end, he literally left them all to die. Humans were only the scum underneath his boots and no more. Like Rathma, his children did not matter one bit. Let them all perish, like the father who said he’s going to get milk and never returns.
Still tragic to see him die that way. What beautiful work by the Diablo 4 team. Seriously in awe by their work.
Completely agree. I didn't notice until later play throughs but his armor, when he flies forward of the Cathedral Host and sets down among the demon throng. His armor, as shiny as it was, was pitted and grimy. Dirty. Not at all like the other angels. He had become corrupted and his armor reflected that. I think she might have forgiven him. Lilith. I heard it in her voice. There was sorrow there. But for the lack of remorse or regret for killing his own son. Their son. There was only his single minded obsession with returning to a place that no longer wanted him. She could see it but he couldn't.
As disappointed as I was to not get more of an epic battle kind of resolution between Inarius and Lilith (or Inarius and the player), the decisions that they made are very much excellent character work. Inarius is this character who earns nothing but scorn from the player for the entirety of the game due to his self-righteous attitude, yet in the end, one feels nothing but pity for him and his embarrassing end.

That cut scene slaps so hard. I'm not really sure what direction the story will go. I just know that I'll enjoy finding out.
I came to the same conclusion after seeing the inarius death, wings tearing off, soaking into the floor, surprised that no one mentioned a similar scene with tyrael in the cinematics in d3, opening wings and soaking into the floor, only tyrael was grabbed by some tentacles of light, while Inarius was seized by the damned.
My thoughts exactly. I do not think Inarius is dead, as he was just consumed by Hell itself and we were never given a corpse. I will be genuinely surprised if he does not come back as an Izual-type character or something more. His whole life has been a fall from grace and descent into despair and madness, so he definitely deserves to be a demon. Him laying siege to Heaven would also give us a reason to return there and see all that has changed. Would love to see an Imperius and Inarius 1v1, too
I would like if they do a turn around with imperius and make him the Archangel Michael of this world that is if Inarius is to become the Lucifer of this world. But it would make sense, all this time he goes on about humanity have evil in them and could turn at any minute, so seeing inaruius the father of humanity and the parent that is considered good by the heavens, as the now ultimate ruler of Hell. Could force him to come to reason and let go of his pride, changing his path from one of wrath and instead of one back to being Valor(courage and bravery). With malthael gone, it was only him left who opposed Humanity on the Council. They could even make his turn to supporting humanity be of irony and poetry, be saying that he to be brave to face the haunting reality and courageous enough to let go of his Pride.
If this were to happen, I wonder how that would affect the people of Sanctuary knowing both their creators have fallen to Hell. Also, wouldn't that just make the High Heavens more likely to move against Sanctuary?
Having Inarius succumb to pride and fall definitely has alot of pretty good opportunities for storytelling.
I’m hoping it the opposite, seeing one Inarius become the Ultimate ruler of Hell would serve as a wake up call to Heaven, showing that Humanity being able to choose is not new and that Angels can to turn evil

This would be quite cool. I’d be happy to see more of Inarius in any way really. I get what they were going for with him, and I did expect that his character flaws would get the better of him. But like you expressed, it did feel like he was very underutilized. He was definitely a character that deserved more screen time I think! So this would be a pretty cool way to use him further in the story. Fun theory!
I thought it was so badass how Lilith killed him and ripped his wings off. My jaw was definitely dropped. He was a big whiny boy and had it coming. I think the pride angle has a lot of weight to it. I'd be super stoked if he returns as a usurper and becomes the new threat to everything. Loving D4 so far!
This was more or less my line of thinking as well! Though I didn't really piece together the Lucifer context when it crossed my mind, I think that's a good parallel and I do hope it's explored.
I hope that we get to see more of both Inarius and Lilith over the course of the seasons and/or expansions. They are imo the most compelling characters in the lore and feel much more personal as they are the player character's lineage. The only other characters I care about as much is Tyreal and Zoltan Kulle
It's likely Inarius could return as a corrupted angel much like Izual. I feel like his feeling abandoned by the Heavens despite his crusade to right his wrongs could mean he'll flip. The first expansion will definitely deal with Mephisto. I suspect the following couple expansions will resurfance Diablo and even Baal.
But it would be boring, he needs to be more than Izual . He should have a big impact on sanctuary again
I am also convinced how Lilith was talking to the Prime Evils in her final scene via a telepthic link how they wasted Sanctuary as her gift, how they chose tyranny over free will and how they are unable to finish or to break out or to give up the Eternal Conflict.
Always liked how the ground tried to deny Inarius' first steps on Hell in the cinematic. But it does not happen when he lands in the final chamber.
Yes Tyrael removes his wings and survives as a mortal. Inarius is like a shell or something haha, but there's definitely a glow while he's swallowed up by the ground.

Also on 6:57 of your video is a nice shot of Inarius with Lilith's demon wings behind him... as if the developers were giving a subtle wink to the angel becoming a demon. I think the irony would be too sweet for a scorned angel to become a devil king that surpasses all before him.
I hope we get both more of Lilith and Inarius it's so good we got to see both the mother and father of the world. I'd like to see Lilith's plan on how to end the eternal war and perhaps a pre tormented Inarius working together against the forces of hell and heaven like another sin war. With Inarius being remade in some fashion and Lilith being rezzed by the blood people ate

They even foreshadow it in the scene where Lillith stabs Inarius from behind. Her demon wings spreading behind Inarius was a hint.
Ooh such a great Theorie. I think this is the plot. And also that we will actually help Mephisto later. Because had to much screentime. Maybe we have to ressurect diablo to stop inarius.
Love this theory. Another example of the demons possibly speaking very literally is when Wolfisto tells us that he's seen Inarius' true face and from that he knows that he and Lilith aren't so different. Mephisto saw Lilith as a tool to his grand scheme even if also a threat, I think the same is probably true for Inarius, this why he was released from eternal torment.
If Inarius does turn into a Satan figure, it could be a CEO/board situation. Inarius gets to be the face of hell, exacting his revenge on the heavens, and gets to believe he has command of the forces of hell. Meanwhile, while he is blind by his continued self-indulgences, the brothers really pull the strings from the shadows with less focus from the heavens.
Inarius also exerted free will to create sanctuary and harness the power of the worldstone, will he be able to tap into that and become a big threat again this time as Lucifer

I too believe he's not truly gone. She didn't just impale him, she corrupted his body and being. He'll either reform in Hell on his own or Mephisto or one his kin will get their hands on him. I think he'll escape on his own and go back to Sanctuary. Heaven will finally communicate with him and Imperious will turn him away. This will push Inarius towards evil!
I think we will find out more about Inarius in the future. First of all there is a huge lore question in how the hell he actually escaped hell to begin with. Also it seems after Lilith tears his wings off that he is also infested by some demonic corruption and kinda blobifies and mutates on the floor as she leaves him. So it seems reasonable he will be back as a boss to fight in the future, perhaps under Mephistos control.
As much as I would like that story arc to play out… the original (supposedly Old Testament) “falling out” of Lucifer and his third of all angels would be way in the beginning, in Diablo (the game) that “schism” is portrayed the Anu splitting into two different deities.
Like I said that’d be a crazy story; could end up being a “redemption” story for Inarius; an actual prophecy fulfilled for Lilith (I’m sure he’s gonna need the nephalems help to do this somehow) and maybe will be the continuation of the main story because as we know evil has always been on top at the (even questionably) end of every Diablo title.

Isn't Lilith's death the final seal to free Lucifer and to start the apocalypse for the world. Maybe this is a hint that Inarius is similar to Lucifer when we the player had killed Lilith. Now our actions has caused the start of the apocalypse in Sanctuary. That would be epic.

Lilith Death was one of the 600 seals on Lucifer’s cage. But that just Supernatural. Biblical no, in the bible the devil is said to be constantly walking the Earth and in Diablo, there is no Devil or Lucifer…..Aleast for now

I was thinking this exact same thing. Partly i felt like his defeat in the cinematic really reminded me of his original de-canonized iriginal fate in lore. He had his wings torn off, and he had his glowing skin stretched onto the walls of his prison. Exactly what happened in the cinematic, except instead of skin, it was his essence stretched apart and set upon the walls and floor

I don’t think that would go well for Lilith, as if inarius returns and becomes the Lucifer of the series. He would likely inprison Lilith and have her tortured for all eternity, in sense making her the first victim of the Hell afterlife experience. But in all seriousness, what allowed Lilith to manipulate and control Inarius was him being an Angel. And we see as he becomes less holy and more corrupt how her control of him is weaken.

Mephisto did say that hatred was already there. He just brought it out. I get the feeling Inarius will become the hatred prime evil by stabbing himself with the soul stone.

Definitely reference to Inarius being a Fallen Angel and becomes demonic. We may have Mephisto as the 1st Expansion, but im pretty sure Inarius will be back maybe in the 2nd or 3rd Expansion.

I think the theory is solid, but here is another thought could be intresting; with Inarius now part of Hatred's domain, what if the reforming of Lilith takes some (or all) of Inarius' essence. We would indeed get a demon/angel hybrid, but this time, both sides of the same being want the same; an end to Hell and the destruction of the High Heavens.
I would not be surprised something like this will be "a" or "the" big bad in the end, but it would be cool to have a duality character with the sole purpose of using humans to destroy both Hell and the Heavens.
I love this theory, it's so well thought out and it hits home in a lot of places, I'd be extremely shocked if something like this doesn't happen. Cause on one hand, it seems really strange that they'd bring back such a huge figure just to kill him off entirely and on the other, he has a lot of stake in sanctuary to just be a simple write off.
That podcaster makes a good point it’s entirely possible and especially with his high priestess cursing the Herodrum I could see her going back to him if he resurrects let’s see what happens. I could see inarius becoming a Lucifer type demon. Question being is how powerful? And how many prime and lesser evils are still around, how much power can he absorb. Not to mention Mephisto. He is definitely playing the “long game” here
Cool theory, and I hope it's true to some degree. Inarius felt like such a... nobody in D4. I can see the whole irony of him thinking HE is the hero, then getting owned/killed off after doing not so much, but it feels kind of lame that he just dies. Same with Lillith, honestly.
The ending for inarius makes sense - he deserved his fate. Also, considering the series is called DIABLO, I just don't think it's going to be based around someone that is even higher up than the lords of hell. That being said, I would totally love for Inarius to return in one way or another, as I don't feel that we got enough of him in the first place. He is definitely more of a bad guy than Lillith, but having him return as an evil would require the entire church of light to be completely reworked in a story sense.
The fallen angel trope was also used in the d3, when Tyrael falls from the heavens like a comet
I have been thinking that he would be taken by Hatred for the Heavens and later it would be revealed that Mephisto all this time was a reincarnation of Inarius after the events of Diablo 4 (but, yes, they coexist in the same time continuum in both forms - Inarius unaware that he would one day become the Lord of Hatred). This would also serve as an explanation on why Mephisto has a grudge with Lilith despite her being his daughter.
2:12 Always found it interesting as a concept or theme or whatever you'd call it, when cunning, malevolent characters attract and win people over by speaking actual truth and clear logic... Just, of course, extremely curated to ultimately cause confusion and harm. D4's "cool uncle Mephisto" seems to master this and I love it.

Whoa...I think there's a lot to this theory. Inarius being a fallen angel and going all Lucifer would be pretty damn epic. Still wanting to end the cycle and having been spurned by the Heavens, he'd be foe for both the light and the dark. His destruction at the hands of Lillith in hell might be the catalyst for him to reform as a demon. As an angel, he wouldn't have expected to be reborn. Waking up in hell, his form twisted into a demonic mockery of it's former self, would be quite a shock to him.

One thing I also want to point out is that the reason Inarius made nephalems weaker is because he wants them to devote their faith to him forever; with how things turned out, he would never be worshiped as the angel Inarius, but he might've thought to become a ruler in hell, and force/manipulate nephalems(humans) to worship him as the devil
On the subject of fallen angels in Diablo, the ones mentioned in this video are fallen in the sense that they were corrupted or became evil. But one angel in particular *literally* fell; Tyrael. Even in the D3 cinematic he says “and so, I fell.”

i thought personally they are going more the adam and eve route where the forbidden apple is mephisto, thats why he is a bit round while reforming. thats why the necromancer also saw the snake, its the temptation.
Theory aside, I just want to express how I really want more of these high end CGI cinematics. I understand they are costly, but they carry so much weigh to the story, lore and immersion that we need more of these, rather than the in game rendered ones.
Just to add onto the theory, when we saw Tyrael rip his own wings off, he turned mortal. but here, when Inarius lost them, he still didnt have a head as shown by that black void in his hood. I think Lilith may have learned about what Tyrael did and corrupted the process a bit in order to turn inarius into a demon.
After all, what better way to torture the murderer or your child than to turn him into what he hates the most?
Exactly she wanted to punish him in the worst way possible, but it will be interesting to see Inarius resolve I doubt he has beef with Lilith anymore and now has complete rage towards the heavens

Actually, you could argue, that Malthael and Izual were only "Mad".
But Inarius was always special, since he was the one who nurtured the first rebellion, spent years in Hell while being tortured, twisted himself and his believes (okay...became also mad)
BUT! I think Lilith didn't ripped his wings or killed him, but transformed/corrupted him, so he now really "belongs to Hell".
And it would be pretty cool to see a new version of Evil.
Lilith actually was a very big step forward, Story and Character-Wise. The other Demons were always just out for destruction and consumption, but she actually created something and wanted to destroy the endless cicle/conflict.
And since we seen none of Diablo in a Game called "Diablo", maybe the writers are finally moving on and are able to create an End to the series, despite of the evil Demons of Corporate Capitalism.
It could be Lilith's trump card.
But honestly I think she just wanted to see him suffer trapped in hell never being able to be accepted by the heavens again, all that was payback for killing her son.
The Mother of Sanctuary made Inarius human by stripping him of his wings, forced to walk in the creation that he so despises.
And to think that they loved each other and with the same hands held each other with the deepest of affections. So sad 😢

So funny thought on this, during one Diablo 4 panel they showed what seemed to be the Crystal Arch looking like it was demonic, saying hell had come to the heavens due to what the Prime evil did in Diablo 3. To piggyback off this theory, maybe that wasn't heaven after all but Inarius's hell where he makes his own sort of pagan crystal arch?

I think the way they did the wings for the angles was genius. The wings although really bright and majestic almost seem creepy because they are essentially tentacles. The wings mirror the angels very existence.

So, originally as they were developing Reaper of Souls, the big bad of the DLC was going to be Imperius. Embarrassed at his failure and corrupted by evil. I could see them pulling some of those concepts for Inarius.
I think he is just a hint for what is too come. Certain that Imperious is going to fall and cause other angels to fall with him.

The story in the games kinda need to be longer and some changes need to happen.
I also miss having companions in solo mode that we had in D3.

It could make sense. Tyrial tore off his wings and became human as he fell into sanctuary so Inarius falling into hell could turn him into a demon

I know diablo immortal isn't the most beloved part of the franchise, but there is a lot of lore there that maybe will be used in a future to explain stuff about the corruption of angels. I mean in the part when you arrive at the realm of damnation, the light of the angels seems to be used as fuel by Skarn and the living "forests" that absorbed them. Even i remember there was an angel that get all his light drained or something becoming a twinsted version of himself you have to put down.
Even from the Sin War trilogy he wanted to appear like he was doing the right thing and couldn't be questioned once he possessed the worldstone. He embodied the worst and most arrogant traits of the angels, and then carried this forward into D4. Obviously, trying to sell this sequel as Lilith being the "big bad" was probably a better strategy than just starting off with Inarius being such; anyone who read the novels knows he was as bad as her or worse. I would like to see him return, but I cannot support him being the big bad. It seems like wasted potential. If anything, I was hoping for Imperius to turn evil and be given a redemption. Valor could have easily become wrath, which definitely seemed opposed to justice.

Personally, there are 4 aspects of the angels. We need to see the aspect of pestilence, the aspect of famine, and the aspect of war.
We already have an aspect of death. Inpirious is theorized to become the aspect of war
I want to think that Inarius will become the aspect of pestilence. His mind was diseased by corruption, desire, and pain, and now he is physically diseased, forced from his form killed and imprisoned worse now than when miphisto had him cause even when plague with madness his faith remained a disease that would lead him to this moment of weakness when his last cries for mercy denied it is then the disease turns outward and Inarious truly falls to hell

I thought and said the same thing about Inarius and his similarities with Lucifer.
For someone who plays such a pivotal role within the Diablo universe he can’t simply be removed after 1 cutscene.
Through the events that have unfolded in the fourth game if Inarius was to return it would recreate a version of the already fallen angel to spite heaven for shunning and ignoring him, thus creating a new big bad in opposition and relation to both hell and heaven. Sounds like it has relations to depictions of a fallen angel in our real world religious texts.

I was just thinking about Inarius becoming Lucifer right before i watched this video. You know, him being a fallen angel and rejected by Haven for his "sin". Also his wife is Lilith so yeah, can't believe i didn't thought about it sooner
Another thing I noticed was when they said. "The prophecy was wrong" and that "true hatred would be pierced through the heart". If you notice in the cut scene, Lilith was stabbed in the stomach. Inarius was the one that was stabbed through the heart. Hmmmm 🤔
Good idea we already have beaten the reaper angel from 3 and now with Maphisto doing his own thing someone will need to organize the underworld in their idea to get ready for a fight with heaven. For all we know Inarus could be a sort of beacon for other angels who are tired of the rule in heaven and decide to join him. Also what about the primes deciding to somehow fuse back into the first evil or something new that would be cool.
