Former small town volunteer FF and NPS Type 2 wildland firefighter. Thanks for the new book and your vids, I can relate. It's a tough life, but for the right person it can be an awesome career.

This line of work is definetely a life choice. It takes alot from is in so many different ways. You forfeit so many things at home but for me it was worth it.

1000% relate to needing to work twice as hard as the guys... I would spend all winter training and hitting the gym while my male co-workers were sitting on a beach in Costa Rica drinking beer. 😂 The women I know in fire work SO HARD just to be able to keep up

I always said who I worked for was more important than where I was working. I had great supervisors who would never ask anything they wouldn't do then I had captains who could barely find the fire.

Yeah i personally think this is a single person job. I mean the relationships don't work. Get in make money,Then find a different job like one that will allow you to be home every night. Then settle down but just my opinion.

I think not being a part of the boys club is more about you than women in general. No offense to be taken! It usually takes me a while to gain the approval from men. Dumb, but how it is.

@@wildlandfirefit it's all good. I like your videos, I'm sorry if I came off wrong. I'm in the army as a medic and I know how the boys club can be. Lol I see you're AF going army WO?? I tried going warrant rotary wing pilot too, but past BH concerns stopped me sadly. I hope you get in ❤️ from what I can see - you seem like you'll get in no problem. Don't stress it! You air force guys are smarter than us anyways 😂

I think it’s 6 in one hand half dozen in the other. I was an engine captain that definitely had a boys club. I always welcomed female crew members. Some joined us and some didn’t. Same with male crew members. No harm done. But, I realize that’s not everywhere.
