My Grandmother has been in Heaven for 20 years, and as I listened to this performance I could feel her foot tapping and see her head swaying from side to side as the quintet played on...fantastic, and thank you!!!
Hey Jerry, The trombone solo at 2:40 is wonderful, but I was hoping that the second round of it at 2:55 would be done by the French horn. It would be a better arrangement that way, but as you know, French horns are traditionally just "peck horns" and don't deserve a solo. I played French horn too till Dudley ran under me while shooting a lay-up in basketball my sophomore year. I crashed and bit a little semi-circle right through my lower lip, right where the French horn mouthpiece (used to) fit. Oh well. 3 months later i found out that a baritone mouthpiece fit right under the scar and it gave me a fantastic lip. I could take the baritone parts a full octave up at football games after that. And played baritone in the Texas A&M band. But to this day, the sound of the French horn is what I like best. A good euphonium comes close, though. ua-cam.com/video/PHGTIlWgSc8/v-deo.html Rob
Thank you, that was beautiful start to finish. I loved the arrangement, and the mix of instruments that brought it to life. From the mountains of North Carolina :)
If you were to visit New Orleans and witness an authentic New Orleans-style Jazz funeral, the band might likely choose this hymn for the processional. The up-tempo section is the celebration-of-life portion of the funeral after the body has been laid to rest.
Bravo. A great performance of a great arrangement. I have played some of Don Gillis's band music and band arrangements, but I do not know this one. It would have been nice to include the names of the musicians in your notes. They are all great, and I would love to know their names. As a tuba player I was very impressed by the young woman playing that instrument. Thank you.
Prima. Leider versucht ihr zu sehr canadian brass nachzumachen. Sowohl im Arrangement, als auch Kleiderstiel mit den Snackern und der Performance. Schade.
I like that Vincent Bach Strad trombone!

Terrific!! Great arrangement - Great performance. And the SousaPhone was a real force!! Amen!!
What sousaphone?
@@simongross3122 It is a tuba.
@@garygreen7552 Yeah I guessed that. Sousa is really a wearable tuba I suppose. But this wasn't one.

very entertaining.
Mas Adit keren banget ❤❤❤
It's a tuba, with rotary valves like the French horn. Neither euphonium nor sousaphone. But yes, she's great too.
Fantastic! Is there a place to buy the sheet music? I love this arrangement!
Top!
Sounds a lot like the Canadian Brass version.
it is the same arrangement (Don Gillis). Very well played!
Bravissimi W La Musica
Wonderful!! Are you guys from Yogyakarta?

Don't think Patsy Cline wrote it...

Great performance but totally out of this tune style
Subtle instrumental performance, but you lost the soul of that wonderful piece of music
