"''Remember this Grisha. A Titan uses their power like this.'' - It's funny actually. Grisha remembers how Eren Krueger turns into a Titan (with a knife) while Eren Yeager remembers how Frida Reiss turned into a Titan (with a bite).
@@cjjackson2423it’s not just that: the way they trasform is the first instance of memory passing from a titan shifter to the other. The reason we see Eren always trasforming by biting is hand (instead of just piercing it or slicing like other characters do) is because he has Frieda’s memories inside of him by possessing the founding titan that she was the previous user of (you can see frieda doing the same gesture when fighting grisha in season 3). The series also specifically references it in the early episodes: when eren first trasforms to defend him Mikasa and armin from the cannonball he remembers grisha telling him “their memories will teach you how to use it”. @@cjjackson2423 you’re right he might remember that aswell and he just didn’t have a knife the first time he transformed. It could also be that, being the founding titan the coordinate of the paths that connect all eldians (and their memories), it has a sort of priority in terms of memories overwriting (it then would make sense why nobody from the royals could escape the vow renuncing war, even if they were to take another titan like eren did the vow and memories from the founding titan would still have the priority to the other titan memories)
I've seen so many reactions to this series and only just now realised the baseball coach appears in a very important moment. How the hell do they put him front and centre, completely out of place, and NO ONE ever notices or asks who that guy is. This show, man, always something new.
Remember our Ymir's flashback episode. She was an orphan on the streets, and con-men picked her, started calling her Ymir, and got people to believe she was of royal blood, to get people to join their underground church.
If it gives you some peace, it's just the beard. Zeke is ten years older than Eren, but he's just sporting that really big beard that makes him look older. I mean, looking at Grisha even as a child, you can see that the Yeagers all have that long, older-looking face.
The reveal of Dinas titan being the one that ate Eren's mother is a gift that keeps on giving. The look on people's faces when they figure it out....haha.
Only thing you guys may not have caught is that many of the titans that were created this episode are memorable titans that were involved in the original siege in the early episodes. You can see the aberrant titan that ate Thomas, the bearded titan that originally ate Eren after it tried to eat Armin, and the 3 meter 'owo' eyes titan that is often referred to as the 'peering titan'.
The "peering titan" that you're talking about was the one that killed Mina Carolina in Season 1, Episode 5. Even made the exact same look and stance in that episode that he did in this one. The guy said "cuz it's interesting to watch cruelty.. peace is fine but seeing cruelty gives the sense of living..." And after he gets pushed and the Titan tries to eat him, we cheer for it The owl asks "hey, is it really interesting" It's like the guy said. We as humans like to watch cruelty and we played right into the author's hands.
Did you notice the stuffed monkey Zeke was playing with? It is his future form (beast titan). The following episode (3x21) is very important, so please be careful with spoiler comments.
Regarding Ymir (our Ymir in the show) going back to season 2 if you recall her back story, she was an orphan and was given the name Ymir to be a false prophet for that group of people. She’s not directly related to the OG Ymir from this episode but they did give her the name.
Just want to clear up something about "our" Ymir Fritz that got brought up back in season 2 and now the pieces fit together a bit better. So 1800 years ago a girl named Ymir Fritz became the first titan. Eventually she died and the power split into 9 titans. "Our" Ymir is originally an orphan on the streets. We don't actually know what name she was born with. Some ppl, in what was basically a cult, showed up, picked her up off the streets and then told everyone her name was Ymir Fritz. They had ppl worship her as the "rightful heir" when in reality she has no royal blood and is just a random kid.
Very well said. But it is worth remembering that the descendants of Ymir, direct or not, are called Subjects of Ymir. How the royal family formed is not explained in this episode.
Also all the titans that were made from Grisha's allies on that wall were the same titans we saw way back in the first few episodes of season 1. The one with the white beard, Dina and the one the leans over and eats the commander being especially recognizable.
now think back to when he had her attacked by other titans, since he touched someone of royal blood, he was able to unlock a bit of new power, even if for a moment
im a couple days late, one thing tht always intrigues me is the history the marleyians have about ymir and the history of the eldians about ymir. History is always wrote from a subjective viewpoint
My two cents on the simplest summarization. Eldians (race of titan people), are subjugated and oppressed by the Marleyans. Marley has seven of the nine unique titans. The two titans they don’t have is the Founding titan (coordinate), and Eren’s titan.
26:01 for the fact, the Ymir we know wasn't called Ymir in the first place. If we remember she was taken from her place to be the head of a religious one where she was renamed Ymir after the Ymir Fritz the Creator, because (our) Ymir is an Eldian so a descendant of Ymir (so are besties Eren, Jean, Connie, Sasha, Armin... are Subjects of Ymir). She's the human representation of Her for her co-religious buddies. 27:23 as you said, EVERYTHING in AOT is a matter of *perspective*
I'll try to clarify the history of this world with the information that we know now: almost 2000 years ago Ymir Fritz contacted "the devil" and became the first Titan. With her power, Eldia conquered Marley and the whole continent. From Eldians POV it was a golden age, while from Marleyans it was a period of terror. After the death of Ymir Fritz, her power was divided into 9 intelligent titans (Founder, Armoured, Colossal, Female, Beast, Ymir's (the one who wants to save Historia) titan whose name we don't know yet, Eren's And Grisha's titan whose name we also don't know yet, the one without a name who saved Zeke and Reiner, and another that we haven't ever seen). Eldians (or subjects of Ymir) are the only people who can turn into a titan. After 1700 years of such a way of things, Marley rebelled and won in the Great Titan war 100 years ago (if we count up to events in S1). The King gathered as many Eldians as possible and escaped to Paradis island. He erected three walls that we all know and vanished the memories of people inside the walls. Marley is afraid of titans inside of walls because there are a lot of them and they are huge. So they decided to send Eldians-criminals in Titan form to the island. Then Marley found resources on the island and started planning how to steal the Founding titan for themselves and so they won't be afraid of titans in the walls. They started to gather subjects of Ymir who will gain titan powers and steal the Founding. I think that's all. It could be a bit complicated for the first time, but I hope this will help you to understand better.
Things to keep in mind going forward: The entire story up to this point has occurred on an island, in the rest of the world the race to which the protagonists belong (Eldians) is seen as inferior non-human beings. Marley is the country that rules the continent, and they are the ones that sent Rainer and company. the relationship between Marley and the Eldians is basically like the Nazis and the Jews. The people on the walls do not know anything about the outside world because their memory was erased, so their technology is also very inferior. Eldians on the mainland are indoctrinated from childhood to obey Marley as their masters and view themselves as lesser beings.
Grice who also brought Grisha into the Eldia Restoration Front is related to another important character. Alot of people don't realize that. Also all the titans turned if you rewatch the first episodes you'll recognize all of them from the wall scene. The one with the beard was the one who ate Armin and Erin.
So many callbacks in this episode. A lot of ppl never notice that the titan that swallowed Eren in season 1 is the same guy that was apart of the Eldian restorationist group. If you look back at the scenes of their meetings, you'll see the older guy with the long grey beard.
The "Santa clause" titan if you will, also the titan that ate the seargeant is the same one that killed the girl with pig tails by pulling her ODM Coord in S1.
Most important thing, Ymir, the first titan has nothing to do the Ymir who was in the Scouts. She was a street kid who was used as a cult puppet, and given the name Ymir and she went along with it for a chance at a better life. Her real name is unknown.
Ymir Fritz unlocked the power of the titans when she “made a deal with the devil of all earth.” The Ymir we know, we learned, was an orphan living in the streets. As a young girl, she was picked up by some people that gave her a new name and treated her like royalty. When she and her worshippers got detained, thrown off the wall and turned into titans, she remembered that her life had been a lie.
This is one of the biggest lore dumps ever, so much so that you cannot possibly take it all in the first time. There are hundreds, maybe thousands of relevant info in this one episode, it’s actually insane.
So excited for you to start S4. You gotta catch up but Look away whenever u on social media because you will be spoiled. Now that they announced the last part of AoT for March. I was spoiled pretty bad.
Eren's stepmother - kinda - ate his mother. What a cruel cat fight over a man. Well maybe the word cat fight is wrong because Dina never knew about Carla. Dina was a normal ( mindless ) titan the time Grisha and Carla got married.
The other titan Marley didn't have was the one the owl had. It was never on Paradis, it was always in Marley but without the Marleyans knowing about it. Paradis always only had the "coordinate"
It looks like you caught all the big reveals. One point of clarification that many get confused about: They said that Marley controls 7 of the 9 titans, but they didn't say exactly what happened to the other two. So besides the Founding Titan (possessed by the royal family on the island until recently), which other Titan does Marley not control? You've probably figured it out already. 🙂
i don't think you missed anything tbh but a rewatch of this episode (in english dub, it's the moth faithful translation and you don't have to keep the focus on reading) is always a good thing .
I think when eren punched dina and gained control of the other titans she actually allowed herself to be eaten. I think the humanity and love for her husband shown through when she paused after he touched her. I think she instinctively realized that was her husband's son. I think in the moment they touched she saw his memories and also knew he was dead, so she saw it fitting that she die right there as well. I think the show wants us to believe eren was the one in control, but in actuality it was Dina
She was right, the Reese Family is the Fritz family, some time between the exodus to the island to the present they changed their name to keep a low profile as they wiped eldians memories. Also, there is NO WAY Eren would be empathetic to the Marleyans, remember, the girl that got eaten by the dogs was his aunt that he never had the chance to meet, his dad's drive to stay alive and pass the Titan's ability to him should also affect his thinking. Either way, we don't know what will happen, watch the rest of the story and you will get answers.
No Spoiler Around 1000 BC: A girl named Ymir Fritz(not our Ymir tho) gained the Power of Titans from Devil of Earth(her descendants believe she gained from God). : she died and her power was splitted into 9 Titans(Armored, Colossal, Female, Founding Titan, Duck Titan, Beast Titan, Owl's Titan, our Ymir's Titan etc). All of these Titans including Ymir Fritz's descendants formed Eldian Empire and conquered Marley nation and other nations and basically wiped out culture, human population etc for 1700 years straight. 80 years ago, there have been a conflict among the Eldian Empire which resulted a Great Titan War. Marley Nation took the advantage of the conflict and took 7 Titans out of 9 Titans in control. The king of Eldian Empire ran with his people to an Island and made three Walls. Meanwhile some people from the Eldian Empire which are known as Eldians are left in the Marley nation and Marley keeps them under their control. Marley nation use their lives to be the vessel of the Titans since Marley or any other normal human cant turn into Titan and cant gain Titan power. So Reiner, Annie, Eren or people in Paradise or all the Eldians can turn into Titan. Reiner, Annie are from Marley nation who serve Marley nation and are under Marley's control
Don't you guys remember how Ymir was lied to as a child by the people who took her in and said your name was Ymir and everyone thought it was that one Ymir. But it was all a lie to make people think like that I think zeke is 13 years older than eren if i'm not wrong

Most important thing, Ymir, the first titan has nothing to do the Ymir who was in the Scouts. She was a street kid who was used as a cult puppet, and given the name Ymir and she went along with it for a chance at a better life. Her real name is unknown.
Your reactions on Zeke and Dina were fucking amazing. Might be the top reactions for me among all reactors honestly haha.
Ymir Fritz unlocked the power of the titans when she “made a deal with the devil of all earth.”
The Ymir we know, we learned, was an orphan living in the streets.
If you were to go back and watch the episode that showed Ymir’s backstory, it would make way more sense now.
Y'all thought this ep was crazy??
Season |||| - hold my transformation.
So excited for you to start S4. You gotta catch up but Look away whenever u on social media because you will be spoiled. Now that they announced the last part of AoT for March. I was spoiled pretty bad.
Guys your not ready for season 4. It’s built differently. My god it’s fucking crazy
ymir that you know is season one was given that name. Remember when they were worshiping her in the marleyan continent.
STORY!!!! AMAZING!
episodio perfecto
re vean el episodio ,se perdieron muchas cosas pero buena reaccion
me cae bien ella
The teaser for the third part of the fourth season has been released. Do your reaction to it 💝💝
One the best Aot episodes!! Legendary!!
If you didn’t notice, but don’t the newly transformed titans look familiar to season 1 titans
Welcome to Attack on Titan….from here on out the real story begins
Season four is going to blow your brains out
good reaction🎉
Trust me guys it gets crazier and more mind blowing 👀
Maybe the most insane episode in the history of fiction
The other titans were the ones from the trost attack where Erens team got killed off.
Eren's stepmother - kinda - ate his mother. What a cruel cat fight over a man. Well maybe the word cat fight is wrong because Dina never knew about Carla. Dina was a normal ( mindless ) titan the time Grisha and Carla got married.
17:48 Daang remember first ep
The other titan Marley didn't have was the one the owl had. It was never on Paradis, it was always in Marley but without the Marleyans knowing about it. Paradis always only had the "coordinate"
Heavy , deep , meaty episode
if you remember ymir is not her real name. They gave it to her so she can lead the church.
Oh boy, it's the big one!
10:35 is the perfect reaction.
it literally shows you in the episode lol
The Owl’s name is Eren Kruger, Kruger let Grisha eat him
Dina is so toxic, that she in form of a titan was looking for her husband's mistress
Carla’s not a mistress
@@rosasunsprite8901 nope, shes dead
@@infernoizawsome6524 I know that
i don't think you missed anything tbh but a rewatch of this episode (in english dub, it's the moth faithful translation and you don't have to keep the focus on reading) is always a good thing .
They rewatched and are now on s 4 ep 4
"Grice" Keep that last name in mind lol
Dina is royal blood, remember their advantage? And what happened when Eren hit Dina?
I think when eren punched dina and gained control of the other titans she actually allowed herself to be eaten. I think the humanity and love for her husband shown through when she paused after he touched her. I think she instinctively realized that was her husband's son. I think in the moment they touched she saw his memories and also knew he was dead, so she saw it fitting that she die right there as well.
I think the show wants us to believe eren was the one in control, but in actuality it was Dina
Interesting idea. But keep in mind that immediately after that, Eren quite clearly commands the titans to attack Reiner.
@@marcoscarrasco92 very good point. I had not considered that
She was right, the Reese Family is the Fritz family, some time between the exodus to the island to the present they changed their name to keep a low profile as they wiped eldians memories.
No Spoiler
Around 1000 BC: A girl named Ymir Fritz(not our Ymir tho) gained the Power of Titans from Devil of Earth(her descendants believe she gained from God).
Already told them all this on patreon two weeks ago
@@seancarroll5803 thanks, hope they understood well
SAY SOMETHING!!
Zeke should be about 10 years older than eren
Don't you guys remember how Ymir was lied to as a child by the people who took her in and said your name was Ymir and everyone thought it was that one Ymir. But it was all a lie to make people think like that
I think zeke is 13 years older than eren if i'm not wrong
AOT STARTS NOW
Eren, why did you have to murder your step-mother? 😔
I'll still be saying this! Please read only patreon comments! These youtube comments are too dangerous, cause of the too eager fandom!
If youre confuse of Ymir brown hair go back to her backstory
King Fritz took 2 of the 9 Titanshifters= The coordinate in the royal family and the owl who is still on paradises site, marley have the oter 7
Wrong. King fritz only took the founding titan. The whereabouts of the attack titan were unknown for many years. The remaining 7 are in marley
@@seancarroll5803 exactly and my theory is that the Attack titan purposely dropped off the radar for two reasons which they both coincide with each other. It has to do with its special ability and it knowing its own purpose to the plot for everything leading up to and post season 3. Very interesting but subtle details you'd have to infer.
