Adunni was giving “motivational speaker” vibes. Tolu spoke like she didn’t really understand the topic. Moet was the realest for me in this episode. Leo did good but he can do better. Bisola is still an amazing host. In summary, I need a part 2 of this topic with guests that are honest and in touch with reality.
This panel needed the perspective of someone who's not what society considers as being fine or pretty but is still very confident in who they are. All these people are fine so they can't really tell us what it's like being on the other side of 'pretty privilege'.
Good point. But idk if anyone in showbiz would like to be the person in the room that was invited because they’re average-looking. Maybe I’m just playing stereotypes sha.
This was a very good topic and relevant in today's world. However, the panelists and conversations didn't give what it was supposed to give. They held back and often detached reality from the obvious in the responses. I wish there would be a redo and a different set of people. It would have made sense if it was a mix of older generation celebs and new generation celebs, because beauty standards vary widely between both groups. Good job Bisola!
I think in Nigeria pretty privilege isn't just based on looks, money plays a role, how you dress, how you carry yourself even how you speak all add to the pretty privilege.
Omo that's a lie o. I'm not wealthy at all, but I can still tell when I go out that people consider me pretty. I remember going somewhere once and there was a really long queue, but the security was telling me how pretty I was. I was irritated that day, and you could tell, but the guy kept trying to toast me and eventually he let me skip the queue and took me right to the front. I wasn't even really dressed up that day. I can't count how many times I'd go out and people (men and women) will be telling me how pretty I am. From women, I don't mind. But men can be so creepy with it sometimes. My point though is that, pretty privilege isn't wealth privilege. It has nothing to do with how much money that you have except you are considering the cosmetic procedures a person can afford to make them more beautiful, but if you are born naturally gorgeous, it doesn't matter how much money you have. Matter of fact, you can use your looks to get you money.
a bit disappointed with this conversation, not because Bisola didn't try as a host. I think this conversation is important and I also think she asked relevant questions. However, I think some of the guests didn't have the range maybe... or were not willing to recognise their own privilege.
It's good that someone like Adunni was on the show tbh so we can see more angles. I kept trying to understand her and it kept me glued to my screen. I believe she was saying her truth but I think she has become too defensive because of things that might have happened in the past. It's funny how the dark skinned lady was talking about using lightening cream while the one that's light skinned is saying it's a curse. Life no balance 😅
@@ozzythestunner being lightskin in Nigeria is a curse? She's lying. Being biracial is the curse. Being raised I'm America and coming here might've also been a deterrent. But she's a terrible actress, so that's also another reason why she doesn't book many jobs
Adunni is definitely not being honest about the pretty privilege BUT I feel what she says about Nigerians probably being cold towards because of the perceived privilege.
I love how Adunni showed up with no makeup or jewellery on. However, she seems oblivious to the fact that pretty privilege exists for beautiful people in general. On the other hand, yes, there's also the opposite of people being mean to you because you look good.
I think it’s very ignorant for people with said privilege to say it doesn’t exist or it doesn’t apply to them because frankly you haven’t lived the life of an ugly person. I’m not saying being pretty or beautiful can get you extreme things that you are not qualified for , but It can get your foot in the door, it’s the value you add that’s the icing on the cake
It does ooo.. big time. I know how many times I've gotten away with things or gotten preferential treatment because I'm "pretty"..however there's also serious hostility and hate thrown towards me because it is assumed things are easier for the person
@@abikeajidahun2685 you are right. People forget that pretty people are also always judged big time even if things that find our way are well deserved.
This is the absolute truth! I get away with so many things, I don’t get scolded at as much as I deserve when I default, people are a whole lot nicer, I get offered lots of free stuff like I could be in a public transport and the rider would say I shouldn’t pay, people offer to help more often and I know exactly why so it’s not anybody’s fault no need trying to deny you don’t get some sort of preferential treatment cos you’re pretty. Pretty privilege is a thing.
Let me tell you guys what. I see many comments basically saying this episode was not “giving”, and I agree. I watched a second time and paid attention, and realized that only Leo and Moët had a solid concept of what pretty privilege is. I wish Bisola explained it to them at the beginning. Pretty privilege is not something that YOU decide. It’s something others (society) decide based on who they think is “conventionally” beautiful. That’s why Adunni seems to be in denial about the possible pretty privilege she might have experienced and Tolu Bally was talking a bit off point about making clothes based on just her size. They didn’t clearly understand the topic! Otherwise, it was a decent episode 🥂 Ps; some people actually do not know that they might have benefited from pretty privilege, so not everyone is lying or intentionally being in denial. For example, when I’m in the US I experience pretty privilege way more, and now I’m aware of it. But before, when I was in Nigeria, I don’t think I ever experience pretty privilege so I might be in denial of it based on where I am. From my personal experience, Nigerians adore light skin and that’s what is pretty to many people there, hence why there is an alarming rate of skin bleaching (read: “organic” creams). We are all beautiful and whether we like it or not, society is structured in a way that will always benefit certain groups of people (intelligence, race, skin color, body size, accent, nationality, the list is endless. So sad lol).
I agree with you, beauty/pretty is a gift . Find yours and use it to your advantage. It might be your smile, confidence or talent...privilege comes in different form

Bisola did a good job as the anchor. I loooove Adunni Ade's realness. Moet is spot on. I love Tolu Bally's expression. Leo is an intelligent gentleman. In summary, this video is a good package. Hopefully, this team can be called upon for another topic. Thumbs up👌👌
Interesting episode! I do agree there is pretty privilege but there's also a downside that many people are not aware of in my experience. People automatically think you are arrogant because you look good, guys are intimidated to talk to you so they don't approach you or automatically think you are not single, there is a tendency to think if a person is pretty they can't be smart as well so people might automatically think you are dumb, other women easily get jealous of you so its harder to make and keep female friends, people think you didn't work hard to get to where you are, I have never been hired at a company because of looks lol, if you are single and good looking then there must be something wrong with you, people only liking you for your looks and not caring about what you have to offer or your personality.......just my experiences 🤷♀️🤷♀️
Funny how people expect preety people to admit that they have privilege. The so called preety people may not even see themselves as preety. Insecurities are real, you see preety, but someone might not.
Being pretty and insecure doesn't make you ignorant to the effects your appearance has on people. The topic wasn't, do you think you are pretty? It's how do you think pretty privilege has affected you. The bottom line of the discussion that was laid in the beginning is that they are all beautiful people on the panel
I look at the comment section and I can relate to Adunni, people expect pretty people to have gotten by using their face and body. Once they see someone who haven't, she doesn't seem real to them or she is not giving. There are pretty privileges but you need to be ready to give back if you want to enjoy those priviledges.
When Moët Asked that the question should be answered by a man … Bisola should have just asked Leo. This panel held back a lot and were abit rigid. Adunni was focused more on light skin privileges than pretty privileges.
Adunni NO ONE said you’re not a hard worker however you definitely benefit more in a society that glorifies skin bleaching lol. Take BBN for example, contestants Nengi and Maria were IMMEDIATELY loved by thousands of fans and you think their skin color didn’t play a part. I’m not sure why she was so defensive but baby girl it’s the truth. Pretty privilege is a thing, women benefit more than attractive men bc a man is more likely to “spoil” a girl based off looks than a woman is to a man. Let’s be guided lol
Facts!! Ppl were hyping up Nengi and Maria so much and that alone is due to them being mixed and fair skinned. Which is crazy to me. No wonder so many ppl are bleaching when society puts light skin ppl ahead like wtf. Adunni was very defensive.
This panel has a somewhat narrow perspective. Pretty privileged is actually real. If it wasn't real, then we wouldn't have so many people trying so hard to look more and more pretty.
Pretty privilege exists and I have definitely benefited from it. However, it had its drawbacks especially when there are lots of unnecessary attention and hostility too.
People forget that it’s not because you don’t have difficulties or being treated or being up to par. Just being acknowledged. It’s that you being pretty or being seen as gorgeous makes it easy !!
Wow! I was amazed to hear Adunni share her negative experiences based on her looks. I thought she would have a lot of "pretty privilege". Neo was so real.
is it that these people do not have the range for this converstation or they are trying to be modest cos there is no depth in this converstaion considering its a very interesting topic, Pretty Privilege is so so real and i can tell you that all the guests sitting on this table are pretty and privilege.
Contrary to the comment section, i don't think Adunni is in denial. I genuinely believe she just might have gotten hate much more than privileges It happens. Especially because she's not the "common pretty" that Nigeria has. People would have given her attitude because of the assumption that she has it easier. Now imagine everyone thinking "she has it easy, let me show her pepper" or saying/thinking "who does she think she is". Who is really gonna be left to give her the privileges😭😭🤲🏽
As a medium toned full Nigerian girl, pretty privilege exists. Adunni I think the comment you made was insidious and ignorant. People may not be intimidated by you,you view people as that because you think you are some way. Pretty privilege is people saying things like yellow paw paw, oyinbo, associating and helping you because of that, even my very light skin Nigerian mom recognizes, that, it is very evident in Nigeria, and you not being an amazing has nothing to do with the topic.
Anybody here accusing Adunni Ade of not being honest is probably ignorant of her story in Nollywood. She has talked publicly about how she was blacklisted and blackballed in the English language sector of Nigerian film industry for over three years!! That started at the period she started getting recognition and top award nominations for her performance. She has to struggle to get back to relevance including becoming a film producer herself. I think Pretty Privilege can go both ways depending on the location and circumstances.
She talked about her negative experience in the film industry but pretty privilege extends to all areas in life and I'm sure she has experienced the privilege in other areas of her life. So it was weird for her to say she never experiences it because pretty privilege is human nature. We like pretty things including other people.
Is that a lack of pretty privilege's or a jealousy of her being from America. Because other actresses; Beverly Naya and Adesuwa Etomi have experienced the same push back with the industry because they were foreign.
@@amaka5562 That's not true at all. Beverly and Adesuwa are actually two of the most favoured actresses in the mainstream Nollywood. They have always enjoyed the patronage of most of the major producers such as Mo Abudu, Kemi Adetiba, AY ,Jade Osiberu etc . Adunni Ade's fortune in the industry cannot be compared with these two actresses.
I just came to read the comments but was forced to say something in the end 😂. After all that has been said, the beauty on the inside is what stands the test of time. Please do a research on all the beautiful people that were admired back in the days….is that beauty still the same? Fake beauty fades with time, plus it will still cost you a small fortune just to maintain it…..🤷🏾♀️🤪
Being pretty can have it downside sometimes from people being hostile to you for no reason or just perceiving you are arrogant, but we cant take the fact that pretty privilege is predominant in our society its just human nature.
There is nothing you can do about you being pretty, sometimes you can't do anything about what benefits it brings to you. There is something called the privilege and it doesn't start or end in the industries...go to the primary schools, see how teachers treat prettier students...but I mean if you are not letting it get to your head and making you lead through the wrong paths by manipulating people by it, there is nothing to deny about it. Embrace it, welcome it...don't let it be the master of you though.
I'm not quite sure Adunni is particularly in denial. She's had it very rough in the industry and it's one of the reasons why she started producing her own films. She was hazed alot and had a lot of people shut her down. That's where she's coming from. You need to watch alot of her interviews, she had been really hurt by it.
Yeah, oftentimes I ponder on how being pretty was both a blessing and a curse(I always mutter a God forgive me and I appreciate how you made me of course.) Sometimes you don't want the attention but people can't help but notice you. I also think Adunni might be in denial. I once had this discussion with my roommates then and I just couldn't agree with them, until later on when I observed in some situations. After I realized that, I intentionally stopped doing some things I could have done in the past, like trying to jump the line. For me, I want it to always be,"she got that because she's capable and not because of her looks." So I don't dwell on it. I also relate to Adunni on people being shitty towards you because they're biased or they feel intimidated or jealous.
The irony of the whole video is that Bisola kept giving Adunni Ade "pretty privilege" talmabout "you are so beautiful and prettty bleh bleh bleh". Also funny how she refused to acknowledge that she's benefitted from it before. I have seen Adunni Ade's picture used as the picture on the thumbnail of a lot of movies even when she wasn't even playing the lead role. If that is not pretty privilege, then what is it? Not even sure Tolu Bally understood the whole depth of the topic. At the beginning, when Bisola ask if they have heard of what pretty privilege means she said she hadn't. Also for someone that schooled in London, what is that accent? Leo spoke fairly well but my eyebrows lifted up the part he said men's dressing up cost more than women's. Not sure how true is that. Like how Bisola is open about her own struggles and experiences in the course of the discuss. Not the best episode generally but I am comforted that this season has been an absolute blast. So one or two below the par discussions isn't exactly the worst thing in the world.
Honestly I agree with Aduni , pretty privileged could be of disadvantage, you walk into a room and the other ladies do no receive or welcome you well because they feel oppressed kind of
I won’t say pretty privilege has been a curse. It’s been more of a blessing tho there are mean sides to it too. But I really agree speakers, being true to yourself and investing in your craft would always stand out in anything we want to do.
There's pretty privilege and There's money privilege. They can work separately or together. He or she doesn't necessarily need to have a whole lot of money to enjoy pretty privilege. Just be pretty / handsome well dressed to a certain level, you would appeal people, Getaway with things and enjoy things from people more than others
I used to think pretty privileges excited because I looked down on myself. Having thrived to this stage, It doesn’t bother me what a pretty face can get coz I can achieve much more. P.s, I love Busola’s episodes more
ooooou, i think we don't make room for the negatives of being pretty. The fact that pretty people try to tone down their appeal to not come off as too sexy.
At work, women with pretty looks/face has more privilege than the one without pretty looks, unless in some organizations that are looking for talented ones that doesn't care about your looks those are the ones that actually knows what they want and then go for the less pretty with brains.
Kudos to Ndani TV and the host. However, this episode was good but not as expected. I'm not sure they picked the right people. Their responses were not so realistic - like they didn't want to go deep. Even if you haven't experienced pretty privilege, I think it's unrealistic to say it doesn't exist. We hope to see more people who can relate to the subject moving forward. Thank you Ndani TV
Pretty privileges do exist. However, the pretty persons do not determine the privileges. Like the famous saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder ".
I just felt more should've been said. Like how this privilege affects others negatively; those who aren't conventionally pretty and how there's a certain kind of discrimination that is directed at them by society. And how it shouldn't even be a norm cos I know people who are negatively affected by the so called pretty privileges another may enjoy. Maybe there should be a redo of this episode or a part 2. So much still needs to be said. My opinion though.
Never seen Adunni in a conversation but this was disingenuous as hell. Even bus conductors offer pretty privilege "Fine geh come sidon for front" "Oyinbo blabla" our artists sing "Omo pkupka (light skinned girl) all the time, Nigeria is the highest consumer of bleaching products many evidences that her lightskin would have done more good than harm. She just made me write epistle on UA-cam mscheeew
My very pretty cousins burnt up exploiting pretty privileges. They were so bad mannered because their bosses were swooning over them. Today they are out of jobs, don't have a home and unmarried. I think it should be used as an advantage and not a foundation.

Adunni was being real, I think. She is pretty, yeah but she had negative experiences due to that. That's her story. Don't say she isn't real
I agree
Even right now she is getting a pretty privilege it felt like it was centred around her
Not Adunni claiming she has never benefited from pretty privilege… but what do I know
It’s funny she said that
I learnt alot....thanks to u tolu....I ain't trading my dark skin for nothing 🔥🔥🔥
i love Tolu Bally's top...simple and classy🥰🥰🥰
Bisola did a good job as the anchor.
I loooove Adunni Ade's realness.
Moet is spot on.
I love Tolu Bally's expression.
Leo is an intelligent gentleman.
In summary, this video is a good package.
Hopefully, this team can be called upon for another topic.
Thumbs up👌👌
Leo is wise
Don’t focus too much on your beautiful
Build yourself
I agree!!
I couldn't agree more.
You said it all...
Loved this
Thank you so much Tolu Bally. I have been looking for such a story to relate to.
Okay okah.... Bisola Aiyeola is sensitive. She's so so so so so se sensitive. Probably the best talent ever from Big brother.
You saw it too... So sensitive and connected
Funny how people expect preety people to admit that they have privilege. The so called preety people may not even see themselves as preety. Insecurities are real, you see preety, but someone might not.
This!
Very true
Thank you .It is even if you think you are pretty in the first place.
Exactly
Being pretty and insecure doesn't make you ignorant to the effects your appearance has on people. The topic wasn't, do you think you are pretty? It's how do you think pretty privilege has affected you. The bottom line of the discussion that was laid in the beginning is that they are all beautiful people on the panel
I look at the comment section and I can relate to Adunni, people expect pretty people to have gotten by using their face and body. Once they see someone who haven't, she doesn't seem real to them or she is not giving. There are pretty privileges but you need to be ready to give back if you want to enjoy those priviledges.
I love Adunide
Honestly some of the guests were not honest. But is was good all the same.
All besides moet. The conversation wasn't whoelsome. The host did a fantastic job though
@@chineduobanye6370 Leo was honest too
Something is off in this episode ,Bisola remains dah bomb 💯
Baddest host! Beautiful woman 🥰🤍
I think Bisola is a fantastic host and does amazing at everything she does. Big Love here 💖😘
Love this
I wish this was longer … I enjoyed it !!!!
Moet, will love to meet her someday... Real Talk❤❤
Bisola is quite engaging!
When Moët Asked that the question should be answered by a man … Bisola should have just asked Leo. This panel held back a lot and were abit rigid. Adunni was focused more on light skin privileges than pretty privileges.
Thank you for making that distinction, because not all light-skinned people are pretty.
@@blessuzo exactly people are bleaching to be preferred over others, it gets you one step ahead. It’s a sad reality
Nice
This is enlightening
This panel has a somewhat narrow perspective. Pretty privileged is actually real. If it wasn't real, then we wouldn't have so many people trying so hard to look more and more pretty.
Pretty privilege exists and I have definitely benefited from it. However, it had its drawbacks especially when there are lots of unnecessary attention and hostility too.
Absolutely...
People forget that it’s not because you don’t have difficulties or being treated or being up to par. Just being acknowledged. It’s that you being pretty or being seen as gorgeous makes it easy !!
I love the topic
Enjoyed the host
Leo,tolu, adunni and moet did a good job to the topic
Such an interesting engagement. Well done Busola, you rock gal ❤
Couldn't stop staring at their faces....why so fine😢
Adunni talking sense
Nobody wey no pretty o. Na to tell yourself say you fyn. Keep your head tall babe
Yo mehn!....
@Bisola is fit... for this role
This felt very surface level but I love the show 🏆
Interesting Topic must say,buh "Money is the real Previledge"know this know peace
Wow! I was amazed to hear Adunni share her negative experiences based on her looks. I thought she would have a lot of "pretty privilege".
Neo was so real.
Right guest for the right topic, each and everyone had a good thing to say, totally enjoyed this episode 💯
Leo and Moet 👌
Please bring back asking the public’s opinion on the streets
Adunni come on don't do that. Why all the cap. her whole career was built off pretty privilege.
is it that these people do not have the range for this converstation or they are trying to be modest cos there is no depth in this converstaion considering its a very interesting topic, Pretty Privilege is so so real and i can tell you that all the guests sitting on this table are pretty and privilege.
Contrary to the comment section, i don't think Adunni is in denial. I genuinely believe she just might have gotten hate much more than privileges
It happens. Especially because she's not the "common pretty" that Nigeria has. People would have given her attitude because of the assumption that she has it easier.
Now imagine everyone thinking "she has it easy, let me show her pepper" or saying/thinking "who does she think she is". Who is really gonna be left to give her the privileges😭😭🤲🏽
castle & castle perhaps?
That was my guess, as well.
Itaf reach oh 🎉🎉🗣️
See My Fav @Leo 😁🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️
As a medium toned full Nigerian girl, pretty privilege exists. Adunni I think the comment you made was insidious and ignorant. People may not be intimidated by you,you view people as that because you think you are some way. Pretty privilege is people saying things like yellow paw paw, oyinbo, associating and helping you because of that, even my very light skin Nigerian mom recognizes, that, it is very evident in Nigeria, and you not being an amazing has nothing to do with the topic.
Are you her to be sure she has gotten the privilege?
Everything she said was said in such an arrogant manner. Very irksome
Beautiful conversation ❤👌
There is nothing you can do about you being pretty, sometimes you can't do anything about what benefits it brings to you. There is something called the privilege and it doesn't start or end in the industries...go to the primary schools, see how teachers treat prettier students...but I mean if you are not letting it get to your head and making you lead through the wrong paths by manipulating people by it, there is nothing to deny about it. Embrace it, welcome it...don't let it be the master of you though.
Did she just say with the color I am?? Wow
Sorry oo....but this Aunty Tolu's accent .....it is well 🤭
I'm not quite sure Adunni is particularly in denial.
I learned a lot, Weldon ndani❤️
Stay true to who you are🤗😍
Honestly I agree with Aduni , pretty privileged could be of disadvantage, you walk into a room and the other ladies do no receive or welcome you well because they feel oppressed kind of
This is true, except you probably came to this conclusion to yourself which makes it false
Moet😍😘
I used to think pretty privileges excited because I looked down on myself. Having thrived to this stage, It doesn’t bother me what a pretty face can get coz I can achieve much more. P.s, I love Busola’s episodes more
Leo's eyes😍
ooooou, i think we don't make room for the negatives of being pretty. The fact that pretty people try to tone down their appeal to not come off as too sexy.
12 Noon is taking so long. All my favourite people, Leo, Adunni, Moe. Can't wait.
This type if topic requires realistic people, in this episode, most if them were lying.
At work, women with pretty looks/face has more privilege than the one without pretty looks, unless in some organizations that are looking for talented ones that doesn't care about your looks those are the ones that actually knows what they want and then go for the less pretty with brains.
Hmmm nice points
Haven't heard of pretty privileges until now
I'm learning ❤️
Thank you Ndani💓❣️❣️
Some pretty people don't even consider themselves pretty. Insecurities are real guys.
I agree
See the ppl they picked, the ones with the privilege. How will they know if not exists or not? 🤣
Aunty Aduni 😂 na wa
Never seen Adunni in a conversation but this was disingenuous as hell. Even bus conductors offer pretty privilege "Fine geh come sidon for front" "Oyinbo blabla" our artists sing "Omo pkupka (light skinned girl) all the time, Nigeria is the highest consumer of bleaching products many evidences that her lightskin would have done more good than harm. She just made me write epistle on UA-cam mscheeew
I think these comments confirm what Adunni said.
My very pretty cousins burnt up exploiting pretty privileges. They were so bad mannered because their bosses were swooning over them.
Today they are out of jobs, don't have a home and unmarried.
I think it should be used as an advantage and not a foundation.
