Welcome to the L&D TRIBE!!!! Labor + Delivery is honestly a TRUE blessing + if this your calling/passion you will flourish. It’s truly a ride, but a ride worth taking! Nothing more fulfilling than supporting mamas get through the HARDEST, scariest, HAPPIEST + sometimes the saddest most traumatic time in their life! And welcoming in new life. Babies are just the sweetest. It’s not for the faint of heart and society truly has NO clue what we actual do. Only a fellow Labor Nurse will know the true depths of this specialty! I am 6 years in + have been a traveling L&D nurse for the last 4.5 years; still in complete awe of the miracle of childbirth. Go in w/ an open mind an focused energy. Giving yourself space to completely FALL IN to this is smart. Lots to learn + completely unique skills compared to any other department in healthcare! Have a blast!!!!

As a momma, your energy is going to be such a blessing to those mommas and babies! I don’t remember the names of the nurses I had, but they were seriously angels! A great nurse makes EVERYTHING better during labor and delivery.

Aw guys I don’t think she meant that labor and delivery is all rainbows and great. She termed it that way because it will be so rewarding to her, of course there’s the harsh reality of every speciality but when you are passionate it makes it that much more special!

    • @chelseakeller2880
      @chelseakeller2880 3 роки тому

Yes I agree totally not wear she was going at all. Because anyone that’s followed her for a bit knows before her job was always pretty sick people for every patient. Now she will be in something is a different vibe and not everyone is sick or has issues a lot of people are fine and just having a normal pregnancy. Plus I’m sure in nursing school she was at least made familiar with everything that can go on even if she didn’t get to see it herself.

Congrats on the L&D job, welcome to the world of babies! I work on Mother/Baby and I will say that our nurses that have medsurg experience do the best. And I am so thankful for everything I learned in medsurg, but I I don't think I could ever go back to medsurg after 5 years of mother/baby. Good luck on everything, and you got this!

I am so happy for you Holley! My L&D and my postpartum care nurses made such a positive impact on me. They truly made me feel so cared for, they were so patient with me and didn’t mind when I screamed in labor. My postpartum nurses were so kind and helped me figure out how the heck to take care of a newborn!! I panicked so many times and they were there to help in an instant.
YOU will be absolutely amazing in this field!!!

You will do fantastic and having the mindset of wanting to learn is what you need. I was MB and loved it. Just had my baby 4 months ago and my l&d nurses were BOMB 💣 . They knew their s&*t which made me feel calm. My only advice.. don't be afraid to cause discomfort to patients because real talk I had a bleeding issue post delivery and they went HAM on my uterus and it hurt so bad during but it stopped me from hemorrhage. PPH was a huge issue in the South a few years ago.
So happy for you! You will rock it!

Congratulations I’m so proud of you as a subscriber and someone who has followed you since you were a CNA in nursing school and I know just how much you wanted L&D. I’m currently in pediatric ICU as a CNA and I really want to be a L&D, antepartum, nursery, or mom and baby nurse too so this just gave me more hope that they’re is still a life after ICU. I mean I love my job and believe that I was put there right after graduating CNA school for a reason and I’m learning so much nursing things, but I focus so much on my PICU job that I forget that pregnancy and newborns are my nursing heart. I’m so excited to see you go through this journey. It was really cool to grow with you as when I got offered my pediatric ICU tech job you had just finished making your first video on your ICU nurse video. Always one step ahead of me girl and I love you for that. Thanks for reminding what I’m meant to do as a nurse. Oh girl I just can’t wait to see your life in this next step it’s like I can at least live through you until it’s my turn. You’ve really helped all of us out here. You deserve this!

7 years in LDRP, worked both days and nights. Stressful is an understatement, but almost always becomes a “lifer” type of position. Hospital’s almost always mandate their scrubs, I’ve never purchased a pair in my entire career. It’s the only way to distinguish “clean” to dirty especially with new babes and sections in the OR. Nothing in the books will ever be a beneficial than a preceptor with years of legit experience!! Congrats and welcome to one of the hardest specialties of nursing!

Holley - I recently subscribed because I loved the video where you described your tattoos. 🙂 I have always wanted one and never done it. I am sending you a comment for a few reasons. One you are always so warm and upbeat. Two I am an adult with a physical disability who was born very prematurely at a time when much wasn’t expected by and for the disabled. I thought that would be useful in your new job. Congrats 🎈by the way. Third I celebrated a monumental birthday last week so I am also an Aries. 🙂 So happy birthday 🎂 to you. Lastly I love that you put your dog 🐶 in your videos. He is AWESOME 😎. We also have the best birthstone. Lastly nurses don’t get enough credit. I have spent a great deal of time in hospital’s and nurses get you through. A kind word, a bright smile and general support get and keep you motivated and make you feel SAFE!!! 😉😊🙂👍 Congratulations again on your new job and enjoy your birthday 🥳.

So much love for this video!! When you said, “everything happens for a reason” it really hit me hard. I have also moved a few states to be where I am today and it’s led me into the ED! Never would have tried it until life takes you down a different path.
Also very jealous of the pink scrubs🥺.

So excited for you and your new adventure. I felt that video! I just reinstated my dual-state EMT licenses after a decade off due to losing a child. I have been with you this whole time and you have been such a huge inspiration to me and have helped me heal through my trauma, and you don't even know me LOL. Congratulations!

Congratulations on the new job!! I have the white Cherokee jacket as well and have used it for about 2 years and it’s still looking good! The med couture jogger style scrubs are super comfy. They feel like they wouldn’t be but I have them in black and they are pretty great. Front pockets deep enough for your phone without it falling out if you crouch down or sit down. Just thought I would share:)

I’m so happy & proud of you Holley. You’re the reason I want to be a nurse, right now things are very unattainable for me to finish school because my bills and I can’t work & go to school M-F 8-5 but you always persevere and you’re so dedicated. You give me the hope that I will somehow, someway make it through. I love you Holley! I’m really happy for you 🤍 you’ve accomplished so much.

Labor and Delivery is a whirl wind for sure! I went from a level 1 trauma center medical ICU that had over 50 codes per month to our l and d floor. Be prepared to be shocked at how new you will feel lol. Get comfortable with the fact that things can go from 0-200 in 30 seconds. Get comfortable with the fact that babies and moms will be fine one second and almost dead or extremely altered the next. Focus more on holistic, comforting, and medical alternatives for labor (warm compresses during pushes, counter pressure on the lower back, use of different birthing balls and positions, ect. ). Labor and delivery is rewarding, but honestly be prepared to have the miracle of birth become a little less amazing as you see it now.

So excited for you Holley! I just found out a couple of weeks ago that I got into the nursing program here at my university! The past couple of years I've been watching you and you have motivated me so much; I remember telling myself not to watch your nursing school videos until I got in, and now that I have I get to watch them!!
