The Importance of Understanding in Education and Analytics | Chris Cahill | TEDxVillanovaU

As data science becomes more popular, it is important to consider why answers are formulated and not simply the answers themselves. The issue starts early in education, when we focus too much on finding solutions, too much on 'what' and not enough on 'why'. Christopher Cahill graduated from Villanova University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and in 2012 with a Masters in Education. He went on to teach in different schools along the East coast and in England. Chris then earned an M.S. in Statistics from Texas A&M University and transitioned into his data science. Chris currently works as a data scientist at Travelers Insurance, focusing on Personal Insurance. Unfortunately, in education, it is not easy to focus on teaching students to be more concerned of the Why when both the system, students, and parents are more concerned of the end results. This video is an inspiring one though.
