Company: Hmm, we *could* write this new character to be interesting, have potential to reappear in future games and bring back the times when the villains were well-developed... *OR* we can just have him be a one-time lackey to Eggman and make some money! Fans: **Facepalm**
Though it isn't much of a defence, it is admittedly somewhat easier to edit/ rewrite something that already exists then start something from scratch, since you already have at least a skeleton that you just need to flesh out. That isn't to say that Sega's Infinite is well written or there wasn't much effort in this rewrite, just that things are easier to develop/ improve when there's already an established base line.
I think Infinite is kinda different from other Sonic villains. It seems like his main motive (if not the only one) is to show everybody how strong he is. In the end of "Forces" (Spoiler alert), his final words before disappearing were "Wait! I can still fight!" I kinda felt bad for him. It's almost like he's not that much of a villain, but a person who lost direction. A person with inferiority complex. A person who can change...
OH! what if by next game he turns out to be alive in the tower he was flung into? he wakes up with ether no memory of what happened while being infinite or he wakes up with every single memory of what he did while under eggmans influence and possibiliy regrets what he did; taking time away from the world to think about his actions as even though he was only under eggmans influence he still DID kill thousands and that's a HUGE weight to have on someones physique, he takes the mask off and throws it on the ground (later the player finds it maybe?) and for a couple months is out of the public eye; t'ill he needs to get food and water and heads into a town where he ends up being recognized by a shopkeep and ends up accentally alerting the resistance to his presence? idk just speculation on my part.
The point of his character was his inferiority complex, down the very core of his character. The Phantom Ruby gave him the power of illusion, which allowed him to deceive his opponents to believing he had power, just like he was deluding himself. He was always weak, no matter how much he tries to force others to believe otherwise. For him to give up that facade would be to break his character, he would always fight against the idea that he's weak, even to his dying breath. He would never admit to Sonic's team that he was weaker, or anyone.
In all defense Infinite was never really a villain, he was only just a good guy who had a really bad idea. Eggman just thought Zero was an interesting guy after the last attempt and they both agreed to work together back in the prologue comics. But because of Eggman, Zero lost everything from heart and became a darker person after obtaining control of the mask and the ruby.
I think instead of just some random Jackal, they should've made Infinite a friend or relative of the Custom Character who the Custom Character originally thought was captured or killed by Eggman, but then in like a boss battle or something, the Custom Character would knock the mask off and be shocked to see that it is his old friend who has been brain washed and corrupted by Eggman. Then the third boss fight would be based around trying to bring Infinite back to his normal self.
@@sonicfanboi325 Youre probably a kid around the age of 7-10. Play some old Sonic games like Sonic Adventure 1, Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes on your pc. I'd also recommend Sonic Riders. Your opinions would change if you play these games as you're going to understand that what kind of elements were making Modern Sonic perfect.
@@spinony359 Leave them alone. I'm 23 myself and love Sonic Forces Writing wasn't very good but Infinite/Zero is a cool character with a wasted amount of Potential
1:28 People can say whatever they want about Sonic ’06, but that game nailed Shadow’s character perfectly imo, they didn’t make him the ultimate edgelord like in “Shadow the Hedgehog”
Agreed. I actually feel like that game had one of the better stories too. (Yes there are some problems, but I prefer 06's story over what we've been getting since colors.)
I really wish this happened. Seeing Infinite with his mask off and the reveal of his different colored eyes would have been really cool and memorable--especially with him helping everyone. One thing I would change would be to have Infinite deliver the final blow to Eggman's mech and then use the Phantom Ruby to destroy the mech completely. He'd have the power back in his grasp, but would realize that it isn't worth it, so he would give it to Sonic and co.
I would have had it so that Infinite’s backstory included the fact that he’s always been told that he’s nothing and that he’s pathetic and will never amount to anything. That way when all his team mates, the only people who ever cared about him are gone, and he gets his butt kicked by Shadow, that would be the final straw before his sanity breaks.
It's a real shame Infinite was just an after thought in this game. Seriously, the dude has a really cool design and has a great performance by Liam O'Brian, but they completely wasted his character.
Perhaps Sega could also show us Zero's past and introduce us to the Jackal Squad and connect with them. They could make a game set prior to Forces where you work for Eggman, which hasn't happened in a really long time. And have it end with the fight against Shadow, where he one by one picks off all but one for the once esteemed mercenary group. I agree with most of your version for making Infinite a better character, keep up the good work.
I rather go with this story than the actual one , since , he is the one who got requested by eggman , again eggman is using the same tatics to "brought him into the wrong path before while with the squad"
Sonic forces wanted to be a dark story, but they went too soft. Personally it would've been alot better for the story to go on a route like this. But hey! Atleast this rewrite would give the Gadget x Infinite shippers more fuel XD
I would have like the storie of Infinite like that : Zero would have to be just a member of the Jackal squad, not le leader. Flashback would have implied he called weakling is whole life by others. He would have been shown to try to prove what he can do to the other but was failing almost every time and mock for it. Then comes to his encounter whit Shadow. He said, something like: here my chance to prove to the other I am strong! Here, the scene would have made more sense for why he screams ''I AM NO WEAAAAAKK!!'' and explain his obsession to prove he is strong. After, I think the game could go as usual or like you said.
What if Zero had his own game that was basically his own sad reality and flashbacks when his Jackal sqaud and towards the end of the game, he goes back to get revenge on eggman for ruining him. And also comes to attack shadow. But when he sees him. He heats the voices of his sqaud telling him not too.
I would love to see the story you came up with continued onward. I agree this would've been much cooler. Makes me want to write my own fanfiction for 'After Forces', but with my own ideas of course. :P The avatar even has potential for the story past forces too, even if he/she would mostly have stories seperate from sonic and the others.
I think it's really hard to believe fans would've liked Infinite even if he had more presence and a better ending. Even in his reveal trailer, people never really took him seriously. Calling him an edgelord and just a bad oc (even though the same could be said about a lot of Sonic characters) I do love what you're saying though. He had full potential to possibly be the most sympathetic and one of the most powerful villains in the series, right next to Shadow in SA2. But instead they made him an everyday bad guy who seeks revenge on life because....Shadow kicked him a few times. It should've been about him seeking revenge from the death of his entire squad and possibly only friends. And him realizing throughout the game that revenge isn't the answer and helps at the end. Would make an....interesting dynamic between Zero and Shadow to say the least. Hell, maybe the Phantom Ruby could've revived the squad at the end or something. But yea. Seriously missed opportunity. I do hope to see Infinite in the future again, but it seems Sega is too stubborn with using him. Zavok taking his place in TSR, him not appearing in Speed Battle or the IDW comics, ect. Great vid!
I think the phantom ruby reviving the squad wouldn't be a very good idea, it would be the same as bringing Maria back from the dead. This would've worked better if Infinite made copies of his friend with phantom ruby, trying to convinse himself they're still alive. But at the very end he should realise that he was just deluding himself, that all these illusions are just hollow husks and that he should let go of his friends and his past, like Shadow. Bringing his squad back would've ruined the message
@@Danariya1 I just find it kinda hard to believe Infinite would be completely alright after losing all his friends without becoming depressed and wanting to take his own life. At least with Shadow, he had people to turn to after accepting Maria was gone. Infinite (as far as we know) had no one else in his life. I think a better ending would be after the Avatar left at the end of Forces, he ended up finding Zero and them being friends, or at least close acquaintances.
I agree he could return. But like you said it would have to be 0 returning, not Infinite. His role in the stort would be sort of like Shadow's, where he does stuff on his own, not part of the main cast. This could even lead to Shadow and Zero crossing paths, which would maybe cause Zero to have a literal on screen breakdown in which he berates Shadow for his actions. Now if this were Modern Shadow, he would say something along the lines of "get lost", but I want old Shadow back, who would maybe invite him to Team Dark as a sort of apology.
This is a really good rewrite, I'm still particle to Galerous 64's rewrite with Nill ("Zero" renamed) being brainwashed, but this was really fun to sit down with you and share a cool idea of how things could have gone, so thank you for that. 😁
Infinite should’ve had more character development and I’m hoping for them to make a sonic forces 2 I’m just saying he’s my favorite edge lord If he remove the mask Zero and the Avatar Would be a perfect Partnership the perfect duo
Or my idea, Infinite being Eggman's attempt at creating his own Shadow but instead of chaos energy; powered by the Phantom Ruby. You can even have a story arc between Shadow and Infinite, Shadow seeing basicly a younger version of himself in Infinite, or a version of himself without Maria and His friends.
I really like how you've rewritten the story overall, with Infinite (or should I say Zero? I'm not sure) offering his help in the final boss battle, but I think that at the very end he shouldn't get off the hook this easily. Sure, he helps the resistanse to fix the mess he's done and everything, but the fact that he has been killing a lot of people during those 6 months left an impact on a lot of people and it shouldn’t be forgiven so easily. Sure, he might NOT have killed people, since in your verson of story he's spared Sonic and the avatar after their battles, so he could've done that to others as well, but I don't think Eggman would've been very happy about Infinite leaving solders who can still put up a fight against him alive. And the way you've described it, Infinite finds out about the control device only when he refuses to follow Eggman's plan any further, but that means that he was OK, or at least didn't show enough displease about doctor's plan before for Eggman to show concern about Infinite's loyalty, even though he's been doing a lot of horrible things to everybody all this time. And also it was Zero's choice to give himself up for the experiment to become stronger. Even though he was desperate at that point of time, he should've known that Eggman's the last person you should deal with, considering all the things he's done before. So I think at the very end, even when Zero decides to help the good guys, he shouldn't be cocky with Sonic, but very sorry and he has to show how he's realised that what he's done was horrible, that he should've known better than to get help from the most evil person in their world and that he'll take any punishment the people he's scared for life see fitting. (Also sorry if there's a lot of mistakes in grammar and such, English's not my native language)
I would like if they did something like Fat Thor in endgame. Infinite just accepts he is weak, gives up the mask and becomes pathetic wreck. His mentality could be like: "I am not Infinite. Infinite is strong. I'm weak."
Frankly I think it would have been interesting if Zero was someone Sonic knew from before Sonic 1, back when he lived in his birthplace of Christmas Island, like a childhood friend. Would put a tragic spin on things. Anybody else wish that Sega would delve into Sonic’s origins?
Vegeta became a nice person in DBZ, but he didn’t give up his stubborn personality. That’s a side of Shadows personality that makes sense after all the events of his life. It makes sense for him to be a really nice and innocent person before Maria was killed, you even see this in the Shadow game. That’s why I don’t have a problem with Shadows character after SA2
I think that when people are talking about Shadow's ruined personallity after SA2 they mainly refer to "Shadow the Hedgehog" game, which, despite being a game all about Shadow, probably has one of the worst portrayals of him. This game has lines like "It's like taking a candy from a baby...which is fine by me" and "Where's that DAMN 4th chaos emerald", guns and motobikes, so ofcourse it has a lot of meme potantial, but people shouldn't take this game as a serious portrayal of this character.
@@Danariya1 shadow using a gun always made sense to me unlike sonic who see combat as a game. Shadow see's every combat as life and death a lose could mean people he swore to protect could die. So he never holds back and always go's for the kill and even if gun could only give him the smallest advantage he would use it. The only thing that would make shadow stop trying to kill you is if he deems you no longer a threat. and if shadow thinks you are a threat chaos help you.
Hm, the way you rewritten Infinite is actually pretty good. I would change his backstory by removing the whole "I'm not weak" nonsense, have Eggman lure Zero who was still one of his soldiers into one of his labs, experiment on him with the Phantom Ruby where it corrupts his mind turning him evil. Then throughout the game he becomes more antagonistic towards Eggman and then once Sonic and the Avatar beat him for the last time Eggman takes the Ruby away from Infinite reverting him back to Zero. Zero then decides to help Sonic and his friends during the final boss and apologizes for what he did.
You could still have the "I'm not weak" motive, just toned down a bunch, so it's an inferiority complex from before he's involved with Eggman, and is what Eggman takes advantage of to lure him in and get Zero to work for him. Eggman could prod at Infinite's lingering insecurities throughout their interactions during the story, little and subtly at first while gradually getting more malicious about it as Infinite keeps failing, while the pc and friends are openly encouraging of one another, which could act as a source of doubt for Infinite and be one of the wedges that eventually drives him away from Eggman by the final act.
Hey I gotta tell you something I discovered in the manual of sonic forces that the phantom ruby infinite had was just a decoy and eggman had the real phantom ruby all along and infinite and the prototype was consumed by the original phantom ruby
I think infinite's motive could still be that he thinks he is weak, but instead of because shadow "said" it, its because he couldn't protect his squad, his friends
You know since he is jackal like the ones in Africa and Southeast Europe and since the tag team version of Green Hill Zone in that game is, "Arsenal pyramid" I think we can say maybe he was part of tribe that worshiped the Phantom Ruby like the Knuckles tribe worshiped the chaos emeralds and M.E. And maybe that pyramid isn't even there, just like the tribe that Infinite would be from, which is why he has no memory of that place or the existence of the tribe at all. And the tribe is from an illusional dimension that is absent in reality, however, when the Phantom Ruby was used the dimension (or part of it) crossed over. Could be the reason why green hill is covered with sand and why there are pyramids there (even though in that game they are eggman's creation but idc). I think that'd be cool what'cha think?
I honestly like the versions that had Zero be basically the Sonic to the hero's Tails, per say. Where they were partners in adventures and best friends
Infinite would have been a better villain for Shadow if we're being honest. His backstory gives him a personal grudge against Shadow (which is seemingly forgotten in the main game) and his powers are a great counter to Shadow's own chaos control powers. If Shadow were to get another solo game Infinite would have made a great villain.
How I would do Infinite’s backstory is that the Phantom ruby possessed him. Infinite would have lost everything in his past due to the fights between Eggman and Sonic, but he never knew Eggman was responsible. He always feels powerless so he made his squad which he would have treated like family, they were bounty hunters who were hired by Eggman to track down Shadow but the squad members were killed in action after a Chaos Blast from Shadow. In a rage, without a second thought Infinite attacked Shadow but was defeated. Shadow immediately felt remorse telling Infinite that it was an accident and he was sorry then Teleporting away. When Eggman heard the news he realised Infinite was the perfect test subject for his new Phantom Ruby. He asked Infinite if he desired power behind his wildest dreams. Infinite accepted so he could take revenge on Shadow for everything he had taken from him as he dawns the mask. After trapping Shadow in a Virtual reality the Phantom Ruby begins to posses him leading to him taking over the world for what has been taken from him.
I have my own version of how I'd written Infinite as a character that's coming soon on my remake story of Sonic Forces. Leave a like if you happen to really like this idea I brought up. So the story of Infinite. Since his' origin was from a Sonic Web comic I figured I start there. Infinite is a leader of a bunch of bounty hunters (sort of like Boba Fett's crew from one of the episodes from Star Wars the Clone Wars, mainly season 4). However, unlike in the comic where Jackal Squad just attacks Eggman out of nowhere, Infinite pretty much just takes on the Eggman from a job to pay for the bounty his head that the GUN hold for any mercenary and make sure he gets it done, despite that it's just another job to get paid. But the turn out would be different when Eggman uses the Phantom Ruby that gives Infinite some new hopes and dreams, aside from being an "ultimate mercenary" by not just his jobs he did but also his conditions as well like the scare on his right eye and how one eye is blue and yellow. This would be where Eggman asks Infinite who he is, why he's after him, what he seeks, and offer him to join forces to give a run on the land itself (not the world, judging the world map on Sonic Forces). Infinite accepts the offer and he and his crew are placed in as Engman's elite fighters. Now here's where episode Shadow comes into play, instead of just dialogue of Eggman saying Jackal Squad has been taken out, actually show it and show how they got their butts handed (or possibly died) and change the location from Mystic Jungle to a different part of White Acropolis with the chemical plant near by. Infinite gets cocky in his confidence instead of keeping his insecurity in check and gets not only beaten by Shadow, but also receive some possible injuries to his face (sort of like with Slade Wilson / Deathstroke, but a little different and tone down). You may noticed in my take of Infinite, he's like the Slade / Deathstroke is pretty much a Sonic version of the DC villain. Just look at their masks and see the similarities. Infinite's right eye gets really bruised up and can hardly see at all and his vision just hits it's limit considering the right eye blinded, and the scare starts to somewhat show the marks of the cut. I'm not 100% sure how blindness works, but for the sanity of rolling with the plot, let's just pretend it was strange logic like with Garrett from Quest from Camelot. Eggman finds Infinite lying in defeat and brings him back to the lab, and as soon Infinite wakes up, Eggman offers Infinite a offer to become another super weapon like Deadpool and Wolverine with the Phantom Ruby, due to how not only Infinite got his butt beaten seriously, but also his squad was pretty much annihilated. He accepts, changes his original identity and become the new him (like with Anakin with Darth Vader), and manages to become a new one man army weapon. If you're going into the details of some of his fights, instead of having Eggman's robots to use he uses his sword as weapons to fight back, multiplying them if Sonic get any closer to him and throws them at his way. Infinite having a boss fight in Null Space, controlling the world and the environment, to throw Sonic off his game like with Shadow in Episode Shadow. And seeing Infinite as Slade with the mask showing his left eye only, I of course am trying to write Infinite as Sega's version of Slade from DC of personality but in a different way. He would toy with Sonic, play mind games on him with everything and everyone he knows to make him lose hope and or his sanity, in the Null Space he would use it as a huge flash back of the places Sonic visited during his pasted adventures, to show some of his depressing moments (like how Slade did to Robin in the original Teen Titans show when making Robin his apprentice). In the end, when everything pretty much back fires, he tries to makes sure Sonic dies if he can't see him in pain and suffer like a desperate me, pleading the man in charge to stop what they're doing. Despite using a lot of energy to create a huge virtual sun, he tries to put up as much of a huge stand off until he's defeated one final time, showing that Infinite over stressed his limit and his new power, that causes him to be forced back into the Phantom Ruby cores.
I totally agree with you in this video and your own version of Infinite's role in Sonic Forces, he could have at least saved the game from being hated so much. I liked Infinite when I first saw him, because he was so mysterious and may have had a bigger personality we haven't seen yet. I also felt bad for him to just disappear out of nowhere when he had a change of heart to the situation. Your version is superior to Sega's and love how you imagined it Love your video and keep up the amazing work
Damn , a Popular company that uses lots of people, create sum kool but not as kool vs a teen that made the same character but Wayyy better than the company 👌👌👌
I would personally would take your idea and expand upon it tenfold. What really threw me off about Phantom Ruby is that it's a device that turns illusions into realities but they never really explored that unique aspect, in Forces, the Ruby just seemed like a power upgrade. Hell, even the TIME STONES had the aspect of time travel added onto them instead of being copies of Chaos Emeralds. So what if, Infinite was a guy who hated reality due to how flawed it was, especially due to the ongoing conflicts and wars it goes through. To add salt to the wound, we could have him getting caught in the middle of a crossfire between Shadow and one of Eggman's Badniks, he'd then wear his signature mask to hide the scars he's gotten in that fateful day. After that, he decides to infiltrate into Eggman's base with his Jackal Squad to steal The Phantom Ruby and use its illusionary powers to create a reality of his own as a form of escapism from real life, giving a whole new purpose to Null Dimension. It'd be a place where there's no what ifs, a place where order isn't just a wishful thinking, a place where peace is INFINITE (Hence is why his name). But here's the kicker, it wasn't a reality only for him, he'd see how much the world was suffering with the Eggman war, much like he did, then would decide to drag the entire planet along with him to this new dimension of his own design. At the end, when he gets defeated, he would look at Sonic's team and how their happy they are with each other and their lives, this would be when he realizes he had misjudged reality, ending his character with him giving it another shot and fully redeeming himself
I know I'm late, but I love all these rewrites and retelling of the poorly executed Sonic Games. For Forces, you, Garrelous64, and Story Surgery have made the best ones I've seen so far. AMAZING work! I think you would especially enjoy Garrelous64's retelling, where he calls Pre-Infinite person... Nil. It was great. 😃
@@DerpaTure9503 I really liked it. Although I get why everyone would have their own opinions. I felt like it would make a great spin off game. There were elements I didn't like, but only because they were elements I personally would have changed if it was my story.
Shadow back story: My best and only friend was murdered in front of me and my creator who looses is mind over the death of her dear Maria, brainwash me to get revenge on humanity. Infinite back story: A stranger kick my ass and told me a means things and spook me! Booouuuhouuuh!! Let slaughter peoples and enslave the world by force and fear to prove I am not weak! (even if the stranger never said I was weak, he just say I was pathetic because he kicks my ass in 3 sec) The back story of Infinite is so bad...It's literally said that he became a crazy bad guy, just because one day, he and his squad was defeated by one guy who disrespects him. No traumatic event (not clear if his squad was defeated of killed), no implication he called a weak and humiliated is whole life by other and Shadow was just the drop of water that overflows the vase. Nothing! He just snaps out of nowhere for a single insult and defeats. At least it's what the game seems to say
9:58 in my versión i took this scene a bit further by having eggman or metal sonic smash the ruby in front of zero (being brught back after the ruby was removed) revealing it was just another replica which zero didn't know about
I also kind of like the idea of that the phantom Ruby gave infinite/zero dyslexia (or what ever it's called when someone forgets everything) making him forget about his squad and gadget(a avatar character) or the avatar who he used to be friends with. But I really like the way you rewrite him cause I also noticed the slight noise he made when sonic and the avatar made it out of null space
To what my personal opinion is that they should've made infinite be the true final boss in the game, and where are heroes sonics and the rookie could fight infinite who has unlocked the real power of the phantom ruby, and he's nearly unstoppable. That's when are heroes come in and fight infinite with the seven chaos emeralds which M-sonic, C-sonic, and our character are in there super forms, and going at it with I'm gonna call him 'Phantom Infinite' whose basically is taunting you, telling you stand no and give up. And he's throwing attacks at you which you have to avoid. The stage around you fighting Phantom Infinite as the final boss is null space. There are different phases when you manage to do some damage on Infinite, the stage around you transition into one of the old previous stages you that fight some old bosses in, which will be a good comeback. And then once you finally defeated Phantom infinite with a triple boost(except in super form this time), the null space around you shatters into millions of pieces and your back with resistances squad along with sonic friends that they're cheering for you for defeating infinite and that their world is safe. As your character is talking to sonic and his friends, he noticed that the fallen rubble is started moving a little, sonic and his friends took notice of this. The rubble was lifted up, and it revealed infinite with his mask broken and falling apart from his face that shows Zero the jackal. Everyone was ready to fight as Zero looks around at them in confusion as he has no idea what happened to him, or remembers anything cause of the phantom ruby took control of him, and now the phantom ruby is gone from his chest, he's harmless. So are character walks up to leaving sonic and the others confused on what are we going to do to him. Then are character offer's him their hand to help him up. Zero would gladly accepted their help and friendship, and walks with us towards sonic and his pals are still in defense positions, til we tell them that Zero isn't going to hurt anyone. Sonic was a little at this point and gives us a smile, accepting Zero as a friend rather than a enemy along with the others that are still unsure, but eventually becomes good friends with zero.
That would not only be a weak true final boss, since he had an inferior fake, but one that would be incapable of happening, because that would require him to have creativity, and as the Ultimate Mercenary, he has none to spare.
I was actually thinking of this when playing through the Infinite boss fights, Infinite prob would have helped sonic, classic and the avatar at the end for the final boss fight against the death egg robot, but maybe indeed of having to play as sonic, classic and the avatar in the null space area, we would play as Infinite and had to fight off against the remaining baddnets, which would gives us a feel of what Infinite's attacks are
Alternate idea: What if it was revealed that the Phantom Ruby was actually messing with Infinite's head? Like, before, he was just some smug, egotistical jerk, but after getting his hands on the Ruby, it warped his mind, and making him go from someone who just wanted to get payback on Shadow, to someone who wants to watch the world burn, and after Eggman takes the Ruby, he turns back to normal, and wants to help save the world since destroying it wasn't even his true intention in the first place. And after that, he becomes more of an anti-hero them a villain, always on his own side, and with his own separate intentions.
I like yourrewrite in Infinite's story. But what I would change is that when Zero agrees to be experimented, the Phantom Ruby takes control of Zero and his decisions, physically and mentally hurting Zero in the proses. Even when gives mercy to the avatar and Sonic. The ruby would be whisperingin his mind, trying to make Zero believe that he was weak with or without the ruby. Then, after helping the Resistance, the ruby takes a form of a jackal as a next enemy for Sonic and his gang.
I HATE how he was just like yeeted and that was it! I honestly thought of my own way of us defeating him by destroying the ruby and he's left in the end, no ruby, no mask, just Zero. He essentially returns to who he was trying to run from.
Sonic and the avatar beat him with the power of friendship…of teamwork… Infinite went into a downward spiral because he lost his team, leading Zero’s death.
Oh! That's what I do with Shadow and Infinite in my Fan Fiction. I push Shadow back into his old character at the end of Sonic Adventure 2 and Infinite finally noticed that he went the wrong way the whole time. And thanks to this and the video with Mephiles I got more ideas ~
I’ve made my own rewrite for Sonic Forces and Infinite. I’ll try to keep it brief, but I wanted to make Infinite someone who had found the Ruby himself sometime after losing his squad and is given the ability to manipulate reality by creating illusions. The illusions can be brought to life via the Chaos Emeralds. Infinite’s original name is actually Zero, but becomes Infinite due to the Ruby being invulnerable, having limitless power, and giving Zero immortality. The immortality is demonstrated when Shadow, who was looking for the Ruby, comes in to attack Zero, and ends up blinding one of his eyes. After being attacked, Zero uses the Ruby to confuse Shadow with illusions and gets attacked back. Infinite sometime afterwards meets Eggman and is offered a place in his army to conquer the world. Sonic, the Avatar, and all of his friends are trying to find out who Infinite was and trying to discover the secrets of the Phantom Ruby in order to defeat Infinite, and prevent him and Eggman from turning the world into whatever they want it to look like. The only thing, however, is that the Avatar was once a friend of Infinite, formerly known as Zero, and is wanting to set him straight.
With his name, the lyrics of his theme song(“I never end and that the difference in you and me” and “this pain persists, i can’t resist but that what it takes to be infinite”) and his character being tied to shadow for no good reason i think infinite was originally supposed to be themed around eternity/imortality or something along those lines. (Is shadow immortal or is that a popular head canon?)
On the whole shadow thing in the beginning The shadow you loved from adventure 2 actually died so of course the shadow we have now that came from shadow the hedgehog has a different personality. those 2 shadows went through the same beginning sure but they progressed very differently. The shadow we have now is still the good guy and wants to protect the world buts he does it his way mostly alone unless he need sonics help like in forces. The whole merciless killing thing was honestly the multiple storyline mechanic in shadow the hedgehog and didn’t stay with him in games we have now. I see shadow as vegeta to goku
BlopYeet07 ahh I see but what I said still somewhat applies he lost his memory, so its possible to become a whole different person, the Shadow The Hedgehog game being proof of that.
For a fanfic i am working on i am planning to add Infinite as one of the villains. This will be his backstory: Well i was olanning that he will be Tails' childhood bully mostly because Infinite thought Tails was working for Eggman (due to Tails being smart but also because Eggman destroyed his hometown) after that he started a Robin Hood kind of sqad and started to bully Tails becaause he thought Tails got involved with Eggman and because he is Sonic's frend (where Shadow is based on) During a period of time the Jackal sqad arrives on Earth and steel stuff for the homeless but Shadow doesn't know that so he blows up the base and kills the sqad. Years later Tails and Infinite reunite and started to tease the young fox where Shadow resques him and calls Infinite weak and pathetic. That is where he becomes corruptedn fuses with the Phantom Ruby and hides his facen forgetting about his origenal goal and becomes power hungry. After Infinite saw someone who is like him Infinite and is being beaten and his mask breaks and renembers past events. This is where he and the Phantom Ruby split and thinks he's weak again. But thanks to team Sonic he is reminded that he doesn't need the Phantom Ruby to be strong and fight alongside with him to defend the weak just like his origenal goal once was.
If going the direction of making him more menacing. Tails cowardice in the opening could have been averted and more impactful as he failed to help. Setting the scene Tails gets shot down by enemies that aren't there, he crashes and is unable to get free, pinned or stuck in his aircraft, fuel is leaking and downed power lines or fire w/e. Sonic dies attempting to save Tails, from enemies closing in him or blocking a shot fired at Tails by Infinite. Tails has to shoot his own foot off him before the fuel ignites, and Knuckles is forced to save Tails and let Infinite escape. Tails survives with the guilt that Sonic should have saved himself and won the fight. This is what messes with Tail's head. (Don't worry Lost World wanted to add robot parts to tails, let's just go with it here for less stupid reasons) We call back to Tikal existing, pulling Sonic's soul inside the master emerald as a way to save him. This can eventually function as the possible counter to the Phantom Ruby later, and Sonic can talk to and see through the various chaos emeralds to convey information back to the resistance forces. Maybe give some scenes where it seems like Tails or Knuckles has gone crazy talking to Sonic who isn't there before revealing it to actually be him. Infinite can simply continue being him in the background and have some face offs vs main characters, show him warping reality or creating illusions where the resistance army basically wipes themselves out and he laughs about it. Eventually having some more direct confrontations with the rookie or Silver as individuals who are able to see through or dispel his illusions to some extent. My own head cannoned version of the Phantom Ruby creating illusions in the mind of an observer first that than projects from the illusions via nullspace onto the fabric of reality. Figuring that out is how he can be defeated, either some one like Silver able to prevent his own mind being manipulated into creating the illusions, the rookie's own ruby playing the same game back at him, or the ghost Sonic interfering on the projection via the chaos emeralds projecting back into nullspace. (or some bs like that).
I’m thinking he could come back, like in the next game he comes back as a short side character, or a main hero, but there for revenge. I think that would work
This is how i would fix Infinite's story: -Infinite and Custom Characters (CC) were once friends since children but they were separated with time. Infinite would become a mercenary that would steal Eggman's minerals from mines and give it to some villages that need it. He was the leader of a special team that would defeat Eggman's robot army. But one day, Eggman planned a trap to capture all of Infinite's team. The scientist could just destroy them all BUT he saw how Infinite was a tactical jackal with skills and told him that if he joined his side, Infinite's team would be spared. Infinite doesn't like it because he felt at the mercy of the evil doctor but he has no choice if he wants to save his friends. One day, when Shadow was attacking one of Eggman's bases, the doctor sent Infinite to chase him. But Infinite failed and was defeated by Shadow. Eggman was furious but he saw an opportunity to use the unconscious jackal to fuse with the Phantom Ruby he found in the mines. So Eggman mutated Infinite and made him forget all about his friends, wapping them all in his memories. -Infinite acted cold and calculated (instead of being too much of a cliché and so edgy). He would talk like a mercenary and think about completing the mission. When he first saw the CC in a village where they grew he holds his attack and let CC running away, asking himself why he held back. Even CC felt that he met Infinite somewhere. After their second encounter, Infinite was curious and question on who is the CC and why does he kept appearing in his mind. But Infinite must remember his mission and fight the CC. Their fight was over and Infinite was getting furious on who the CC's identity really is. -After Classic Sonic came back from the Egg Death Star with Tails, both found files about Infinite and shared with everyone. They all found out Infinite's backstory and his relationship with the CC. They were all shocked and felt sad for the villain. They also found out where Infinite's team were hidden and imprisoned. The CC decided to go to the hidden prison while the rest of Sonic's team went to the final war. -As CC arrived with Infinite summoning a star, the mission said that CC must used the Phantom Ruby prototype to cancel the star and with the help of Infinite's team that found out what happened to their leader. When the sun was canceled, Infinite came to finish off CC but Infinite's team came to stop their leader. Suddenly, Infinite's mind was starting to hurt him and making him go havoc on what's real or not. -The final battle, CC and Sonic were trying their best to fight Infinite, by not just beating him but to awake him from his mind being manipulated. After defeating Infinite, CC and the mercenaries came to help Infinite to break out from the Phantom Ruby. Infinite remembered everything and remove the Phantom Ruby from his chest and threw it away. But the Ruby flew away. Infinite was glad that he had his friends helping him remember who he really is. -After defeating Eggman and the Phantom Ruby, Infinite found the Ruby again and decided that he should take it back so that Eggman would never use it again. He said farewell to Sonic and CC, knowing that he needs to fix all the damage he caused but this time, he's not alone. That's how i see it and make things a bit differently than the game shows us but i want to hear your opinions.
the reason he doesn't betray eggman might be because he has his squad on life support machines then it would be more of a palpatine and vader dynamic were he was tricked and now works for him because he has to.
I think that Infinite wanted to destroy Shadow because of his squad, and when he realize that he wasn't a challenge for Shadow, probably he thought that he failed to his squad, his family, and if you think it in that way, is very different, like a person who can change with only a little help and maybe... Friendship Sorry if I didn't write somthing correct 😅, I speak spanish and I'm still learning english. I really like this video 😎👌
What I wished would have happened was that the phantom ruby was actually the conciousness of mephiles so my story would go more like this. After losing the jackal squad infinite requires the help of eggman who gives him the phantom ruby however the phantom ruby starts to influence the actions of infinite. At first infinite would have complete loyalty to eggman but mephileses influence keeps growing and this loyalty becomes more of a facade for the true plans of mephiles infinite fights back against this. At the end of the game mephiles completely posseses infinite after the final battle with him.when he loses mephiles takes full control.Destroying Eggman and your final fight is against mephiles. It is then revealed that the custom character is actually part of infinites jackal squad and uses the story of infinites loss to have infinite fight back against mephiles all the while sonic is helpless. You and infinite together defeat mephiles and the phantom ruby and infinite become one meaning infinite is the restriction of mephiles. Infinite gains some of the powers of mephiles during the fusion. Infinite ditches the mask and is now a permanent member of the cast.I like this script because it ties all of this back to mephiles while keeping infinite a powerful force for good and illudes to new plot points as well.
Honestly, I had a bit different idea about how differently this story could be done but I agree that Infinite was so much of a wasted potential but well... whole this game is one big fest f wasted potential So, in short, my idea was that with some expanding and rewriting of the existing story the main storyline would be kept intact till a certain point, Infinites arc and interactions would be different So in his 1st encounter with Shadow would go mostly like in "Shattered Pride" fan comic, and this would be his motivation, but he wouldn't be solely dependent on power of Ruby and would mix his new power with his swordsmanship for very dangerous combat style also after conquest of world by Eggman Infinite would send out a number of "Phantom sentries"(these entities he spawned during the battle for metropolis but autonomous and fueled by separate phantom rubies) each to keep overwatch over specific areas, and these would become the reason for 2nd boss fights with all fake-villains created by infinite and his ruby and each assigned to such sentry. His 1st encounter with Avatar would be quite similar but instead of mocking the fear he would be impressed that even in the face of clearly invincible enemy they are still up to fight and then others Eggman robots to send them to the prison set in Green Hills area till time Eggman gonna finish his brainwashing device project and basically make for beginning of story where Resistance forces fight the facility back and turn it into their base,And as story mostly goes on a quite similar route like the original one the main change is that the "creation of sun" scene would happen much later and before we would face infinite as team of Sonic and Avatar when Infinite himself would merge with Phantom Sentry of the tower area to create a boss fight that would merge elements of previous 2nd form boss fights, ending up with Infinite getting defeated, and in result of this Eggman would take ruby away from him stating that infinite failed him and he has no need for him and will make better use of ruby power on his own, leaving Infinite in his form of Zero for Sonic and Avatar to capture and put in their custody, this gives an option for to talk with now Zero as Avatar, and learn of his past before he joined Eggman, and in Avatar giving some advice to Zero of what he should do next, to which zero would respond that he already learned this lesson hard way as he got defeated, but appreciates the adviceThen we go to the final fight with Eggman where he brings out his deathegg robot, but 3rd stage of the fight instead of being this weird boss form past game would be the Egg Dragoon (that wouldn't appear in 1st classic Sonic boss fight) with Phantom Ruby constantly switching its weapon arms for different weapons from past Eggman's creations, but after defeating this enemy the Dragoon explodes and Eggman evacuates leaving in smoking pod, to reveal he had one last ace in his sleeve as he reveals he kept ruby copies form phantom sentries and one made for Infinite in the secure generator that had no access to it and used their power conducted trough tower to generate the fake sun and scorch whole resistance when he will watch events unfold from his safe underground vault, but avatar still having their own copy of Ruby(obtained from Green Hills phantom sentry) makes their way on top of the tower and jumps int the illusion to dispell it, resulting in discharge of energy that destroys tower and all copy rubies, and Avatar is being cought by one of the characters(this is part of another idea which character this would be but it's aobut infinite) so after that, avatar wakes up aafter 2 weeks of shock coma to ending of story similar to original but bit more seriously written, anyways post credits scenes would tell that Zero has fled from custody, and depending on if we talked to his or not, we coudl simply seee him going back to his teritory and trying to organize other jackals into strong society, but if we do talk to him we will learn that Avatar helped him and we will have scene fo Avatar biding Zero ferwell and wishing him luck with his upcoming tasks
On the topic of Shadow, at lest they are fixing him now. Like the TMOSTH his rudness and aggressiveness is shown to hide his awkwardness tword social situations. And is sonic prime his actions are clearly justified and while he his mad at sonic he dose not take his anger too far and while his method was harsh and heavy handed it is clear that he just wants his friends and home back just like sonic
That moment when one fan can write a character better than an entire company...
Sadly, it becomes increasingly the norm these days.
Garrulous64 did the same thing, both are better stories that were made than what Sega did...
Facts.
I think Infinite is kinda different from other Sonic villains.
It seems like his main motive (if not the only one) is to show everybody how strong he is.
In the end of "Forces" (Spoiler alert), his final words before disappearing were "Wait! I can still fight!"
I kinda felt bad for him.
And in the end He wouldve still shown Them Just how Strong He is... By fighting alongside Them
The point of his character was his inferiority complex, down the very core of his character.
Yes that is what should happen if SEGA doesn’t bring him back like that I will be so mad
Yes Man😊 l Like Infinite Look Like New update l Wish Infinite Never Say week he Is lattle Good 👍🏼
Sonic Forces their fans to rewrite a mediocre games story.
@IVAN NEGA in my opinion that's not true. I like sonic forces

Leave them alone. I'm 23 myself and love Sonic Forces
Writing wasn't very good but
Infinite/Zero is a cool character with a wasted amount of Potential
Nice 😂
1:28 People can say whatever they want about Sonic ’06, but that game nailed Shadow’s character perfectly imo, they didn’t make him the ultimate edgelord like in “Shadow the Hedgehog”
Agreed.
I actually feel like that game had one of the better stories too. (Yes there are some problems, but I prefer 06's story over what we've been getting since colors.)
@@sonicthefox2478 Agreed, its messy but still kinda fun and pretty epic at times
Agree
RedEric101 *This is my head canon now*
Perf3ct
It's a real shame Infinite was just an after thought in this game. Seriously, the dude has a really cool design and has a great performance by Liam O'Brian, but they completely wasted his character.
Ikr, even before the game's release, they hyped him up to be this mysterious new character. Now he's been the butt of every "I'm not weak joke".
Wait, the guy who voiced Akihiko Sanada from Persona 3 voiced Infinite
Damn, makes him a lot cooler
@@shelbybayer200 no not really no
I just imagined a scene where the Phantom ruby takes control of Infinite
I really love the idea of Infinite seeing how Eggman has betrayed and used him, thus joining the resistance in the end.
Agreeddd
Perhaps Sega could also show us Zero's past and introduce us to the Jackal Squad and connect with them. They could make a game set prior to Forces where you work for Eggman, which hasn't happened in a really long time. And have it end with the fight against Shadow, where he one by one picks off all but one for the once esteemed mercenary group.
I agree with most of your version for making Infinite a better character, keep up the good work.
when you were doing the summery I was seeing it happen in my head like a movie
I wish Sega could make more stories and origins for Infinite's past in the near future Sonic games.
I want to die now.
Yes it would
I would have like the storie of Infinite like that :
Zero would have to be just a member of the Jackal squad, not le leader.
The avatar even has potential for the story past forces too, even if he/she would mostly have stories seperate from sonic and the others.
I think it's really hard to believe fans would've liked Infinite even if he had more presence and a better ending. Even in his reveal trailer, people never really took him seriously. Calling him an edgelord and just a bad oc (even though the same could be said about a lot of Sonic characters)
I do love what you're saying though.
I feel like the phantom ruby shattered along with Infinite. Which is pretty sad.
Amazing rewrite, so much better suited to what he was hyped up to be
I agree he could return.
Combine this with Garrulous’s rewriting idea of Sonic Forces as a whole, and you overall have the game that *should* have been Sonic Forces.
This video is 100% pure yes
Bruh this is already like 10x better than the original. Huh, guess it just shows you how much this game has wasted potential thanks for this!
This video is better than the actual game.
Yes-yes-yes... Infinite was WAY too hyped and got nothing out of it. This was a better. WAY BETTER.
rewrite the deadly 6
The problem is the writers. They’re the same writers from colors
The nicest thing about after Eggman gets rid of him that the avatar finds out and rescues him.
They should bring him back. After playing through the game a few times you can tell there’s more to him than meets the eye.
When Sonic fans have better stories than the company.
This was interesting. I wish Infinite was like this... I wish this happened....
Why in Sonic forces doesn't make Sonic Shadow and Silver work together as a team fighting the final boss battle
Infinite should return. Shadow The Hedgehog 2 may-OK OK I can hear the mob with pitchforks already!
I actually kinda want to see that now XD
*Shadow the Hedgehog 2: Infinite Edge*
Omg you such good ideas 👍🏾
I think infinite's motive could still be that he thinks he is weak, but instead of because shadow "said" it, its because he couldn't protect his squad, his friends
When a UA-cam video gives me better story telling than an actual video game
Imagine every sonic villian came back via the phantom ruby, BUT they were on the good guys team AND WE CAN PLAY AS THEM
huh your idea for infinite actually sounds really interesting
I’m gonna call his massless/original self Blade reference to his red sword he had before becoming Infinite
Is it sad that fans can do better than a company or is it just me?
Where they were partners in adventures and best friends
too be quite honest, I would rather have Infinite be the third playable character and not Classic sonic.
Sonic FORCES their fans to make better stories.
THIS SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED! Your AMAZING at rewriting Characters!
People like you never cease to amaze me with showing that fans have more creativity than storyboarders
Your version is superior to Sega's and love how you imagined it
Love your video and keep up the amazing work
Damn , a Popular company that uses lots of people, create sum kool but not as kool vs a teen that made the same character but Wayyy better than the company 👌👌👌
Thank you so much. Infinite was such wasted potential.
Agreed
(even if the stranger never said I was weak, he just say I was pathetic because he kicks my ass in 3 sec)
The back story of Infinite is so bad...It's literally said that he became a crazy bad guy, just because one day, he and his squad was defeated by one guy who disrespects him. No traumatic event (not clear if his squad was defeated of killed), no implication he called a weak and humiliated is whole life by other and Shadow was just the drop of water that overflows the vase. Nothing! He just snaps out of nowhere for a single insult and defeats. At least it's what the game seems to say
I agree with you because infinite is my favourite character who should come back to help.
If this guy would’ve rewritten sonic forces, i wouldn’t have left the sonic community.
This video made me come back.
Sorry for my poor language
Sega: "dann, he's making an actual interesting plot with our villain, what do we do?"
9:58 in my versión i took this scene a bit further by having eggman or metal sonic smash the ruby in front of zero (being brught back after the ruby was removed) revealing it was just another replica which zero didn't know about
That Infinite looks friendlier than her villain version
To be honest, I wish that Infinite was kinda like Shadow, an antihero
It makes me feel bad that an amazing character just went down to waste
"wasted potential" Yep, that's how you can describe Forces in general
🤯🤐 you pretty much changed the whole game wow good plot and everything
I also kind of like the idea of that the phantom Ruby gave infinite/zero dyslexia (or what ever it's called when someone forgets everything) making him forget about his squad and gadget(a avatar character) or the avatar who he used to be friends with. But I really like the way you rewrite him cause I also noticed the slight noise he made when sonic and the avatar made it out of null space
It’s called AMNESIA
Sega should watch these vidos
Videos
I think this could be interesting. I'm doing a rewrite to Sonic Forces, and might consider a few of these ideas.
I HATE how he was just like yeeted and that was it! I honestly thought of my own way of us defeating him by destroying the ruby and he's left in the end, no ruby, no mask, just Zero. He essentially returns to who he was trying to run from.
i really like that idea
Sonic and the avatar beat him with the power of friendship…of teamwork…
Infinite went into a downward spiral because he lost his team, leading Zero’s death.
Oh! That's what I do with Shadow and Infinite in my Fan Fiction. I push Shadow back into his old character at the end of Sonic Adventure 2 and Infinite finally noticed that he went the wrong way the whole time. And thanks to this and the video with Mephiles I got more ideas ~
Interesting! I know I am typing this on a pretty old comment but I would like to read that fan fic
This is awesome!!
Pretty awesome rewrite
I agree with you in fact this video gives me a idea
It's stuff like this that really show that Infinite had such wasted potential.
On the whole shadow thing in the beginning
The shadow you loved from adventure 2 actually died so of course the shadow we have now that came from shadow the hedgehog has a different personality. those 2 shadows went through the same beginning sure but they progressed very differently.
This will be his backstory:
Well i was olanning that he will be Tails' childhood bully mostly because Infinite thought Tails was working for Eggman (due to Tails being smart but also because Eggman destroyed his hometown) after that he started a Robin Hood kind of sqad and started to bully Tails becaause he thought Tails got involved with Eggman and because he is Sonic's frend (where Shadow is based on)
During a period of time the Jackal sqad arrives on Earth and steel stuff for the homeless but Shadow doesn't know that so he blows up the base and kills the sqad.
(Don't worry Lost World wanted to add robot parts to tails, let's just go with it here for less stupid reasons)
We call back to Tikal existing, pulling Sonic's soul inside the master emerald as a way to save him.
I think that would work
This is how i would fix Infinite's story:
-Infinite and Custom Characters (CC) were once friends since children but they were separated with time.
Nice
the reason he doesn't betray eggman might be because he has his squad on life support machines then it would be more of a palpatine and vader dynamic were he was tricked and now works for him because he has to.
I think that Infinite wanted to destroy Shadow because of his squad, and when he realize that he wasn't a challenge for Shadow, probably he thought that he failed to his squad, his family, and if you think it in that way, is very different, like a person who can change with only a little help and maybe... Friendship
Sorry if I didn't write somthing correct 😅, I speak spanish and I'm still learning english.
Honestly, I had a bit different idea about how differently this story could be done but I agree that Infinite was so much of a wasted potential but well... whole this game is one big fest f wasted potential
So, in short, my idea was that with some expanding and rewriting of the existing story the main storyline would be kept intact till a certain point, Infinites arc and interactions would be different
So in his 1st encounter with Shadow would go mostly like in "Shattered Pride" fan comic, and this would be his motivation, but he wouldn't be solely dependent on power of Ruby and would mix his new power with his swordsmanship for very dangerous combat style also after conquest of world by Eggman Infinite would send out a number of "Phantom sentries"(these entities he spawned during the battle for metropolis but autonomous and fueled by separate phantom rubies) each to keep overwatch over specific areas, and these would become the reason for 2nd boss fights with all fake-villains created by infinite and his ruby and each assigned to such sentry.
