    2:21 mark. thats a Top Gun Cigarette by Don Aranow. The baddest, fastest stock boat of the day. Reggie Fountain and Sonic took the fastest boat titles in the 90's. Byt , in the mid 80's Don Aranow was the man. Cigarette, Formula, Consider. This show knew how to market place before it became a thing.
    Don Aranow made so many fast boats. The DEA contracted him to build them their "Blue Thunders" drug interdiction boats. Got Aranow killed by the the bad guys.

    The elimination of the show's trademark pastels, as well as its rescheduling to 9:00pm on Friday nights, thereby putting it in direct competition with CBS' top-rated show, Dallas, began to drive fans away from the series and seriously hurt its audience ratings. Pastel colors were reintroduced in season 4, but by then a writing staff desperate to recapture the successful tone of the earlier seasons led to several stories that veered wildly into attempts at science-fiction and comedy, with episodes such as "The Big Thaw" and "Missing Hours" regularly being rated as the worst of the entire series and a serious detriment to the otherwise high quality of the programme. At the same time, many other episodes began taking dark turns, resulting in more violent conclusions than in the past and giving the season a decidedly uneven feel. By this time, Dick Wolf had moved to the position of co-executive producer, although he still made significant contributions to the show's stories.

      Yeah this is interesting. The late 80's had a lot going on with TV that forced a lot of quick changes and with MV it was mostly for the worse. In some ways the magic of Seasons 1-3 could not possibly be sustained when as you say there were forces at work in the TV world with audiences moving around to other huge show eg Dallas. MV season late 4 and early 5 they rolled the dice again with the whole Caitlin arc and the murder and then Burnett memory loss plot arc but while it gave us all some iconic memories, it never worked commercially for them. I heard it was 21 Jump Street that ultimately killed MV in the end.

    • @markmorris76
      @markmorris76 11 місяців тому

      To my knowledge NBC wanted a season 6 but Don Johnson wanted to take off to do movies. Man carrying out that Burnett arc throughout season 5 would have been epic. I think likely Crockett/ Burnett becoming a drug lord was too much for NBC to approve. Remember when TV was interesting?

    • @markmorris76
      @markmorris76 8 місяців тому +1

      Yeah there was some weird stuff in season 4 at least. Phillip Miichael Thomas started wearing makeup and Don Johnson looked like he just rolled out of bed every morning. And these weird camera filters that made everything blurry? Huh? Strange stuff but there were a few good episodes here and there notably the too short Sonny as Burnett arc.

    -Message to Vin Diesel, the new producer of the future TV show "Miami Vice" that he wants to remake; Can you PLEEEAAASE Jesse Johnson, Don Johnson's son, as an actor for the character Sonny Crockett (like his father in the 1980's), because he is an excellent actor (he knows how to render, like his father, the emotional, physical and introspective side of the characters he plays), and also, because he looks so much like his father, that for "Miami Vice", it would be the most judicious and intelligent choice for this new series.
