    Colour does deceive. Some wine students in sommelier school were given white wine coloured red at room temperature. Their tasting notes used the type of language you normally see with red wine.

    I work in the food industry and you're right about the cocktail of ingredients. People don't really think about the texture of soft drinks, but it's vital to the overall experience. We also use loads of natural flavourings, typically at levels of 0.1 to 0.3% concentration. The vast majority of that drink is pure water, but there's a lot of skill and science that goes into making it into a purple strawberry cheesecake!

    • @randangbalado

    Interesting! In my country (Argentina), Fanta released limited mystery flavours (called "Fanta Misterio", literally "Mystery Fanta") for the last two Halloweens. AFAIK the flavours are not officially revealed at the end of the promotion, but to my (not at all amazing...) tastebuds they were mango (colored blue) in 2022 and spicy watermelon (or perhaps strawberry, but spicy!, colored red) in 2023. I loved them both, especially the red one. Regrettably, new or "unusual" flavours are rare and usually fail here :(.

    Shrimp, i worked for Coca-cola last year and noticed something i thought was very interesting, the code you showed on the bottom of the can at the start reveals that I was actually working on shift in the factory this was made at. It was made on the 145th day of the year, meaning the 25th of May, on line 11, in the Sidcup factory (the factory I worked at). It was made at 2:14 am, and I was working a night shift. And although I actually worked on line the capri sun line 10, it always makes me happy when I see products produced in Sidcup, and it’s made me excited to find something made while I was on shift there too.

    • @milly-te2tq
      @milly-te2tq 2 місяці тому

      also to clear up the date situation, Capri Suns are given to the last date of the month one year ahead. For example, if a pouch was filled on April 1st 2024, it would have the BBE printed on it as 30th April 2025. Similarly though, a pouch filled on April 30th 2024 would also have the BBE as 30th April 2025.
      This same rule follows the pattern but is only 9 months for cans for some reason, i believe pouches have the longest date of all products made by CCEP.

    This is just proof that colour coordination in marketing has an immense effect on the consumer of a product, wether it be the colour of the packaging or the colour of the product itself, it acts almost as a placebo and makes you taste/see/think stuff that isn't there.
    Example: green packaging and grains of wheat on a box suggesting that the wheat crackers inside the package are "healthy" or a "healthier alternative".

      Thank you - I do appreciate the offer, but I cannot accept gifts or donations. On this topic, however, I do have in my possession an unopened can of Fosters lager with commemorative labelling from the maiden voyage of the MV Oriana, which I purchased on board on that maiden voyage in April 1995 - it will be 30 years old next year, so I might open that one on this series.

    Watched a UA-cam video that was saying fanta was made by the Nazis back in the WW2 era and if it is I kinda don't want to drink it anymore, which wouldn't be a major loss since I rarely drank any in the first place. If I drink a soda, it will be mostly Coca Cola, Pepsi or Dr Pepper. So call "fruit flavor sodas I drink every once in awhile like orange or grape, but during the summer the Coca Cola company will release the tropical Sprite flavor and I just love that drink. It's strawberry and pineapple mix with the traditional lemon lime that's always been in sprite. What's weird for me is that when I drink them I sometimes can taste only the strawberry and sometimes only the pineapple but never both at the same time. I don't know if anyone else experiences that, but it is strange that it does that, but I love them anyways. They were releasing them year round, but either they stopped it, or I was just not paying attention when I do go grocery shopping. When I do, I normally just get the items on the list and not pussy foot around looking at stuff, if I do that I'm likely to buy some new product because I'm wanting to know what it's like and have a good chance of wasting it because it wasn't good and I hate wasting food. That's how I bought a 20 ounce tropical Sprite at a gas station one very hot July a few yrs ago and got very lucky that I liked it. I try to avoid buying a lot over the summer so I won't get burned out, and maybe that's why they only do that during the summer months.
    Anyways is there any truth to that about the Nazis inventing Fanta?

    • @AtomicShrimp
      @AtomicShrimp  18 днів тому

      The brand name is about the only thing connecting Fanta to WWII Germany, so 'made by nazis' is a weirdly reductive take.
      If it was made by modern day neo-nazis, that would be a sensible reason to avoid it.

    This shows you just how powerful the visual element sent to the brain affects what you taste if you're expecting something different based on what you see. I was the same when I tried this, I could have drunk hundreds of these and never guessed what it was, but then when you know - suddenly the taste is there. Side note: I wonder if it would be fun experimentally to do this blindfolded so you never actually see what the drink looks like before you taste it?

    I have found that if you cannot quite figure out a taste of something like this, it's almost 100% guaranteed to be strawberry cheesecake. I guess that's a taste that's hard to identify but also easy to kinda get near there while also not at all getting there at all... taste wise....
