In today's video we install the beautiful Tec-Art's AE86 header. This pairs nicely with the full fujitsubo and tec-art's exhaust. Unfortunately, through this process, had to take the distributor out and that messed with the timing of the engine. The car currently doesn't run now... time to figure this out and never touch that again..

Check the MAF. Use the mark by itself on the harmonic balancer and set cams to correct marks. And the distributor gets set to no.1 on the cap and cyl.1 set to TDC. Been in the 4age 16v game for years with mk1 mr2

Hey Dustin I know I seems kinda shitty when your're stuck in traffic, but lane splitting is actually good for traffic! It basically adds lanes, maybe just for motorcycles but imagine being that much more backed up. As long as they are being very careful and respectful than it's a good thing!

I had an 86 back in the day & it came with a TRD header on it & it was designed the same as the tech art 4-2-1. It had the same style flange & everything. I actually think I still have a set of TRD 272 cams & cam gears in my garage as I was lucky enough to have bought a couple 86’s built in the 90’s with a bunch of TRD parts.

Easy way to check distributor alignment is remove exhaust side valve cover, distributor cap. Set to TDC and there will be a mark to line up with gear. Rotated rotor to cylinder 1 on cap. Slide in and confirm.
If all mechnical timing is correct and wires good. You have to set base timing with a timing light. Jump pin T to E1 on diagnostic plug in engine bay to put in diag mode. Point light to crank pulley and time for 10 degrees.
This is a must too when taking distributor out.
    Try this out first.

Dustin, you are not alone. Saturday Feb. 5th, 2022 I pulled my car into the shop after work to do an oil change and swap my thermostat in my 6.1L Charger. Throughout the next week I started to lose coolant (didn't happen until this happened). Turns out my radiator decided to start leaking (Mopar, More problems). Friday the 11th I try to patch it (cause, money. I moved across the country in January). I was up until 2am doing that. The JB Weld patch kit made the leak 5 times as bad. So, yesterday (the 15th) I had to drop in a radiator. ALL CAUSE I DID A ROUTINE COOLANT EXCHANGE! As of today (the 16th), there are no leaks. Thank God.
One shitty day is just that. One day. Keep pushing. Love watching your videos. By the way... WHAT HAPPENED TO 240Z, AFTER SEMA, PLAN!?!

Hey Dustin, that is some jucy headers you got for the car, you may have swapped around the sparkplug wires somewhere, because it starts and idles for a bit and then dies. This usually means that the firing order is off, if it was timing then it will not start at all.

You might want to check the plug at the distributor and check the pins and wires. I've seen pins break, or flatten and the wires get brittle and break especially if it's been plugged in and unplugged allot. If the only thing you did was unplug the distributor then that is usually where the issue will be. I wish you luck, I know how much this project/build means to you and I'm sure you will figure it out.

Either the distributor itself is worn or clocked incorrectly or the ignition coil inside the distributor arced and blew out when it was disconnected if the battery wasn't disconnected prior to it being taken apart. Slim chance, but possible if there was any current still going through it upon disassembly.
I would also check any ignition related relays and all chassis grounds.
