      Thanks dude! I hope other people find it helpful and start putting AC back in these cars to enjoy them on the street 😆

      @@DoctoredGarage I'm sure a lot of people will have more knowledge about setting up their AC system, but as rare as parts are I'm sure it will be difficult for them. Still a great source of info to have.

    amazing video man! for anyone wanting oem ac this is a very nice video! Im going an alternate route the 4ac crowd has went eletric ac system, still have to run a condensor, fan, dryer bottle, and an electric compressor so we dont have to run a belt or anything else. also they sell r-12 again on amazon its environmental atmosphere safe!

      should note before anyone asks the setup is 700$ but worth it honestly.

      I hope it works out for you! I looked into the electric AC compressors myself, and the problem i came across is that they're pretty weak and you have to have a really strong alternator. That might still end up giving you a high load on the belt - it'll just come from the alternator instead of the AC compressor.

      What system are the 4ag guys using?

    • @DoctoredGarage
      @DoctoredGarage  7 місяців тому

      The system in this video + 4ag compressor and the stock/original AC idle up components.

    You need come to Indonesia because the hot climate I think AC is the first thing we modified when building 70s corolla or 80s corolla😂.

      I can only imagine what that's like 😆😆 when I lived in SC it was hot and humid during the summer, but we also had frequent rain and ocean breeze. I wouldn't drive without AC there either haha

    Top "accessory" for an AE86

      Thanks! I agree. So many people ripped these out and tossed them in the trash years ago, so now they're extra rare lol

    when my ae86 was stock it had A/C, but I was young and removed it. 20 years later, I still have all those parts and im re-installing a/c. coz im old, and old ppl need to be comfy lol

    • @DoctoredGarage
      @DoctoredGarage  5 місяців тому +1

      Ah the choices of the young AE86 owners... Mine never had AC, but I tossed an almost perfect condition interior in the trash in the name of "weight reduction".

    I've been struggling to get mine to work since I've had it regassed - will go through the system again. Thanks for the video, I'm currently trying to figure out what the different cables do behind the dash - i didn't see the RPM dial on the air con control last time, will give that a look
    If anyone else has any advice as to why the lines in the engine bay are cold, but no cold air comes out in the cab - I'd love to hear from you

    • @DoctoredGarage
      @DoctoredGarage  7 місяців тому

      The larger line (low pressure) should be cold and the smaller line (high pressure) should be hot. Most AC systems can be diagnosed using the pressure readings with the AC system on.

    Would a tach booster relay work instead using a dakota digitial to get tach signal to the ac amplifier?

    • @DoctoredGarage
      @DoctoredGarage  5 місяців тому

      I think it will, but I've had hit or miss luck with the tach booster relay setups though.

    I feel like the bits that are discontinued could probably be 3D printed from ABS. Thoughts?

    • @DoctoredGarage
      @DoctoredGarage  6 місяців тому +1

      Some stuff could, but I'm not sure how strong it would be. I've been looking into 3d printing a "bolt on brace" for the HVAC control switch thing. I picked up a Bambu P1S 3d printer a few weeks ago

      @@DoctoredGarage I see potentially being able to print the condenser "rubber mounts", the Drier bracket, and even the plastic of the HVAC controls. Enjoyed the content as always!

      Oo those could probably be 3d printed! I have a buddy who started 3d printing the radiator bushings the other day

    Is the wire for the compressor switch part of the 4age engine loom? Where did you run it from with the panic harness?

    • @DoctoredGarage
      @DoctoredGarage  2 місяці тому +1

      30:20 mark has all that info :) the wire comes from the AE86 front body/chassis harness. It's near the engine bay fuse box. I changed the connector so I could plug it into the compressor, and tapped into it to supply the 12V signal wire for the fans to the ECU. Iirc I requested that wire exist on the panic harness, but I think they normally have a circuit for an input/output that you can configure near the compressor.

      @@DoctoredGarage Thank Devin for the quick reply. i spent a good 15min looking for that blackwhite wire, finally found it on the engine harness. Maybe it's a zenki vs kouki thing. Yours a Kouki?

    • @DoctoredGarage
      @DoctoredGarage  2 місяці тому +1

      Hmm maybe! My wiring is kouki. My harnesses are also SR5, so that might make a difference too
