Hey you almost got me in the video in the Whalers crowd when in Hartford I bid them bon voyage and good luck to Carolina. I know there are good people in Carolina and I hope they get a winner and get back to a cup. And hope the new owner doesn't bleep it up.
Raleigh native here. My Canes won 5-2 last night. I can tell you that yes, this area has 3 major universities and it splits the fan base. However the Canes draw all of us together which creates a ravenous fan base. We’ve been voted the loudest house to play in and all you have to do is got to Cup game and you’ll understand. We get to the games hours before the start time to tailgate like football. When Edmonton fans came here for the cup they thought the parking lot was on fire with all the grill smoke. They were welcomed to tailgate. We had lean years of attendance because the former owner took the team for granted. We were bad yet ticket prices rose. He would make comments like “ if we sold more season tickets we could get better players.” Excuse me....we aren’t owners. The general feeling was that he didn’t care about the team. But that’s all changed. We are back to the 2006 mindset. The fever is massive but it’s now reaching a new level. Raleigh is NUTS over our CANES
As a Canes fan since they moved to town, I appreciate this video. A couple of pronunciation things: -Raleigh is closer to Rah-lee than it is to Rally -Brind’Amour is Brind’A”more” not Brind’Am”our” And a couple points of contention: -PNC Arena is NOT located on NCSU campus. The football field IS across the parking lot, but both are about 3 miles as the crow files from Talley Student Center which is about the center of campus. -Raleigh isn’t a college town. Yes the state’s largest University is in the city as well as a few other colleges, but students make up about 3% of the Raleigh Metro Area population. That’s like calling Atlanta a college town because GT is there. -“Rod The Bod” did out work all of his teammates when it came to gym time, and I’d wager he still out works most of the players in the entire NHL, so there’s no “the coach MIGHT out work a player”, he does!
First of all there was never any danger of relocation with the CAA being a part-owner of the franchise and own a run PNC Arena, the attendance had been on the rise for several seasons before last season, also it is Rah-Lee not Ralley, Ron Francis was GM between Rutherford and Waddell
Just a heads up for the future Raleigh is R-all-e, and they do not play on a collage campus. NC State’s football stadium and PNC Arena (which are the shared home for NC State Basketball and the Hurricanes) share parking lot along with the fair grounds about 2 miles from campus, but it is fair to call it a college city. Love the vids! Keep up the good work.

Good recap of the roster. As a Bostonian living near PNC, I have been to a few games at PNC, including game 4 of the finals pictured in your video. It seems every game i've been to has had 50% away team's fans representing. Attendance may be up, but not all of them are wearing Red/White/Black.
Nick Leger pretty good now. Averaging about 17k from the 11k a few years ago is huge improvement. The fact that you can hear the fans pretty loudly over the away fans when comparing goals, means that the ratios have been much better
The Raleigh/Triangle market is well over 2 million people with Raleigh's county alone at 1.1M people and rapidly growing. It's not like Raleigh is Green Bay or something. It's fair to say that it's a non-traditional hockey market, but keep in mind that Raleigh is filled with tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of transferees and their descendants from the Northeast US in particular. With NC State, UNC, and Duke, the Triangle is definitely a college sports market, but there lots of people in the area who aren't fans of any of the teams, and the Canes actually bring together the fans of the 3 universities to cheer for the same team. The complex that hosts the Canes definitely has an overall NC State vibe, and the brand colors for the Canes are aligned to those of the Wolfpack.
carolina has never been a joke, not good yes, low attendance yes, but not a joke, no different than any other low budget team. This is an old hockey elitist mentality and shows your lack of understanding how the league works. old teams NEED these small market teams desperately. This team is no different than any other team that has moved around. fyi, not the only one to move. yes they missed the playoffs 9 years in a row, but they have won a cup before many of the popular non joke teams in the league. this is a laughable premise and needs to be evaluated. no team is a joke, the only thing that is a joke, is your pronunciation of the head coach for carolina. i mean, google it man, He is a flyers hall of famer and future NHL hall of famer. the only thing you said correct is dundon mixed things up, changed the status quo and made good changes. but a team that wins 2006 stanley cup and other trips to conference finals is not a joke team.
From a fan base perspective not much has changed attendance wise. This year, they are still 25th in ticket sales, and 28 in % of tickets sold. So far all they have done is rearrange the deck deck chairs on The Titanic.
The Whalers were a very profitable Club. The State refused to finance a new arena- so Karmanos moved them. He is reviled in Connecticut. To this day Whalers merchandise is a huge seller.
Cole can you please make a video on LSU football or Coach O they have been absolutely killing it this year and I think it’s time you upload a video about my tigers
the whalers did have and still do have support in ct.not me i am an islander fan but what happened the owner wanted a big new arena and hartford said no so he moved, and they started in the wha and won the first avro cub!
I totally lost all respect for your opinion when you pronounced Rod Brind'Amour (Brind-uh-more) as Rod Brind'Amour (Brind-ah-mao-er). Seriously, you couldn't take 5 seconds to look up the pronunciation of the captain when we won in 2006 and our current head coach?
Cole, I recently came across your channel and enjoyed the very first video I watched. Your edits are clean, and your commentary during the videos are easy to listen to unlike others who either lack confidence and sound nervous or are too comfortable and lack professionalism. However, when it comes to your predictions and conclusions about certain teams or athletes you have definitely been way off. I honestly attribute that to your age and lack of experience when it comes to Sports in general. In no way does that question your passion for sports or the content you provide. Matter of fact I found it very interesting and out of the ordinary when I went back and watched your very first video regarding recording a sporting event and re-watching it. As far as I've seen that's a very original point of view. But like I said when it comes to predicting or coming to a conclusion about a certain team it seems to be too soon and often incorrect. Now I know I said that I attributed to your age to that, but another factor maybe that you are unaware of the details regarding the subject you are speaking about. Like I said I enjoy the most important parts of your content, at least the parts that I find important, but the major turn off is the inconsistency of your predictions and conclusions. as a Fanning subscriber I suggest maybe either do a little more homework or let a little more time play out before you give your opinion regarding the subject matter. I hope you take this into consideration and do not take it as a personal attack. I look forward to further content you add to this channel and Hope the constructive criticism is a positive help

You missed where the canes played in Greensboro
That's only because PNC wasn't finished, and explains a lot of the original attendance woes...
The next few seasons are gonna be fun.

carolina has never been a joke, not good yes, low attendance yes, but not a joke, no different than any other low budget team.
Sick video
Cole can you please make a video on LSU football or Coach O they have been absolutely killing it this year and I think it’s time you upload a video about my tigers
The hurricanes are my 3rd favorite NHL team next to the predators and golden knights
Finally a video on us though
Go Canes!!!
I’m a canes fan!!!!
Preds clinched a playoff spot
It was hard being a canes fan in 2015
the whalers did have and still do have support in ct.not me i am an islander fan but what happened the owner wanted a big new arena and hartford said no so he moved, and they started in the wha and won the first avro cub!
8:40 TEUVO TERA... Teruhhh... *THAT FINNISH GUY*
WE HAVE DIVERSITTYYYYY!!!!
Umm, no. The Canes were originally the New England Whalers of the WHA
I’d love to see your thoughts on the continued success of the canes.
TEEvu teravainen is my favorite player
I totally lost all respect for your opinion when you pronounced Rod Brind'Amour (Brind-uh-more) as Rod Brind'Amour (Brind-ah-mao-er). Seriously, you couldn't take 5 seconds to look up the pronunciation of the captain when we won in 2006 and our current head coach?
Raleigh is our capital it’s not a college town
Got NHL teams in places like NC, So. Cal, Florida, fucking Arizona ... but Louisville can't get a NBA team. Makes total sense.
For the love of God, they are amazing!
