Thanks for watching and love to all! :)
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand he's gone.
It's too bad though if any other person had been running the team I bet Stamkos would not have stayed in town when his contract was up a season or two ago he was very much expected to leave just as expected as Tavares
You misspelled home
He's still with Tampa lol
Until his contract is up this year. I don't see any scenario where he isn't with the Red Wings next season.
Derp Man he was only expected to leave because the Toronto media said so. He says he thought a little about it but Tampa was always at the top of the list.
Anddddddddddddddddddddddddd he’s back to Detroit !!!!!!
Do a video on how you think he will build the Detroit Red Wings
The DRWs will start winning within two or three years...instead of out Rd1.
The exact same way he built the Lightning. Start with the lottery picks and add depth via late round picks
@@T4Orick so what do you think about his job so so far?
Aging spectacularly because the team he built now has 2 Stanley Cups.
Credit also to his successor for bringing other pieces, too.
His successor was his understudy in Tampa, and Mr. Dubois is doing just fine thank you. Back to back cups will do that to you :)
@@patrickfullan9509 three straight eastern conference titles ain't bad either.
I will credit JBB with restructuring the bottom 6 in the following years Steve left to go back home. Finding solid bottom 6 guys to keep under the cap was good to see.
@@thenickfoxxTop 6 is insand though, same for defense AND goaltending. Top 6 > Bottom 6, but I do agree that depth matters, but for teams like Oilers, its not really the depth thats ruining them. Its the defense, bad contracts and bad goaltending all combined.
Stevie Y was my favourite player. Reason I choose #19 growing up playing hockey. It’s amazing he’s become almost as good as a GM as he was a player.
You know in hindsight, I think the plan was to let stevie go to build his own franchise. At the time, the wings were fresh off of back to back Stanley cup finals appearances. If you promote a guy to GM to take over from a three time cup winning GM and he’s never been a general manager before, it’s a lot of pressure. No matter how beloved he is by the city (see joe dumars) if you don’t do well it can tarnish your legacy. It seems almost planned that they let him go and build his own team essentially from scratch into a cup contender. Whether they won in the playoffs isn’t really up to him. I think it’s safe to say he built a solid team. Now the wings know he can build a winner.
Why do people ignore his mishandling of the Martin St.Louis situation?
$2000 Suit Man Yzerman was a great player but as a mentor?
Some people think he is an all round great guy ?
How is Detroit doing this year by the way ?
Nice video, although, I wish you had given more info as to why he declined the Wild position. Yzerman is my all-time favorite player
That fact that Holland refused to step down screwed the wings over to this day and in the future. Illitch school have fired him the minute Steve asked for the job.
But then the feathers of the boys' club would have been ruffled and imagine how that would have looked. Illitch firing the best GM in the NHL for a guy with zero GM-experince. Imagine the headlines about owner interference. Unforunately Holland got old and too loyal to his core of players that gave dimminishing returns. Scary thought how a person great at something suddenly can loose a few steps and become subpar at stuff. And yeah I watch Urinatingtree.
@@rubberduck8594 I wouldn't call Holland the best because he never changed after the salary cap. The GMs for Pitt, chicago and the like, changed and knew how to build a team. Jim cant wait for Holland to go so a true rebuild can happen.
@@macmac3374 he once were the best and won multiple Stanley Cups for Detroit, plus long playoff-runs. In the early era of the cap he was the man to be, but he lost his golden touch. Now people are accusing Zetterberg of running a puppet regime on ice.
@CrAzYCaM 8 we will see. It can take a long time like with Avs or Oilers for you to rebuild.
@@rubberduck8594 bowman built those team, not Holland. Holland was never more then average. Period. I cant wait till he leaves and this team can start something he refuses to do... REBUILD CONPLETELY
I had seasons tickets to the Norfolk Admirals the year they won the Calder Cup in 2011-12, and I even got the chance to meet Steve Yzerman as well. He was one of my idols growing up, and to see how humble and nice of a guy he was really spoke a lot to me when I was a kid.
Awe poor lightning. Welcome home captain!
FluffyMagmaFace #LGRW
Your team needs him more than Tampa! Glad to see the RWs past Rd1.
FluffyMagmaFace you have Dylan Larkin as your best player that’s ir
@Colin zzstu Miller I would hope an original 6 team has more cup wins than a 90’s expansion franchise
Yeah, poor Lightning. I mean back-to-back Stanley Cups......those poor things.
STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!!!!
Lets goooo
Twice
Who’s back here after the Lightning won the Stanley Cup?
YESSIR
They are heading back to the 2021 SCF
Gonna need a remake once he wins the cup possibly next season. Great video none the less! Everyone always forgets how good their minor league team was and how much those players gelled together with cooper before they all came up to the lightning a few years later. I love how serious Steve takes this and he will gamble on anything to make the team better, gotta trust the process.
you’re videos are great! this video was the first i watched of yours and the way you go through the team without dragging along is great! you’re gonna be great!!
What a ride..thank you Stevie Y!
Who’s here after the Lightning won the Stanley Cup for a second straight time?
LMFAOOO shit yeah bro
Thank you Yzerman and Vinick! Potentially saved the whole franchise.
Only watched 5 videos so far and you’re already one of my top 5 favorite channels
Keep it up
I really enjoyed this video and glad to see someone is giving notice & talking about the overhaul turnaround of this Nhl franchise. Rare in the media to hear the progress of Tampa Bay Great video Cole Adams !
It's not about LeBron James
Thanks for coming back! This message is brought to you by a Detroit fan
Thank you man I'm a fellow Tampa Bay Lightning fan myself
I need to watch more hockey lol!!!
GET ON IT!!!!! hahahahahaha
A video on the history of the lightning would be very interesting
like the niche you've carved out w your videos. good stuff. keep improving.
As long as he doesn’t leave the organization for Detroit this season, we can still get him a ring before he’s gone for real next season. He deserves it.
LeanMrfuzzles oh well, guess that didn’t work. Don’t worry we’ll get him one when he gets back up here. Should take about 5 years
RIP
Detroit thanks Tampa Bay for their sacrifice. The Red Wings will win 5 stanley cups in the 2020's in your honor.
James Williams might take you guys a bit longer than that.
Maize and Blue That didnt start that well, did it?
@@JamesWilliams-tk3nq Every one that isn't a casual fan knows Stevie is responsible for that cup and he should have gotten a ring for it, too. All good though, Ken Holland's gone and Stevie will do even better for his home team.
Awesome video man. I know its early but when the time is right please make a video of his time in Detroit as the GM and rebuilding them 🙏🏼
will probably have to wait a bit for the rebuild to be complete
great video. going through their rosters since 2000, what struck me was how well the bolts drafted after 2009. yzerman did not do it himself, extremely good scouting dept, and strong management/coaching in the ahl. his move to get mcdonogh from nyr was excellent. i;m a leaf fan, and we wanted him bad, but obviously not bad enough, big mistake by the leafs. getting strolman another good move. now they look unstoppable, and definitely my pick to win the cup this spring. only sad part is that yzerman won't be there to drink from it with them, but no doubt glowing tributes to him will flow, and rightfully so
Now I hope he comes back home to the wings!
And now they are the champions
Its interesting because Hedman puts up points and appears to be a top 5 defenseman but advance stats show that Hedman is actually around the 30th most effective defenseman behind guys like Giordano and John Carlsson
Sitting next to McDonough who had the best plus minus in hockey
he's coming home to Detroit
Nah. Plus he's already done the job that was needed to be great for a long time so we're happy either way.
@@GWh135 I'm sure the Illitch family will be more than happy to kick Ken Holland out at this point. Which is basically all thats needed to get Steve Yzerman back home.
Yzerman chose Tampa anyways in the first place, plus he's still with Tampa and wants to remain for a while, so it'll be quite a bit.
You know Tampa was his backup plan right? Mike Illitch offered Ken Holland a promotion to a position elsewhere in his company to make Yzerman the GM and Holland turned it down. Yzerman has always wanted to be the Red Wings GM and he considers Michigan his home. He still owns a house in Michigan and his family lives here. They never moved to Florida. I fully expect Yzerman to leave Tampa after this next year.
I'm aware Holland refused to step down, though Yzerman never said he would've wanted to take over the Red Wings. If he wants to go back home with his family that's fine, he built Tampa to be good for a real long time after he's gone.
I love this video his little deals and moves he made made this team into an amazing team that’s fun to watch
Getting #1 pick and #2 sure helped a lot
He’s coming back to Detroit!
No he needs to stay in Tampa
@@michael6845 Your comment was from 9 months ago.. did you not get the memo? lmao he came back to detroit in april of 2019 lol
Steve played for the Hall of Fame Red Wings which were the greatest collection of talent in the 90s and 2000s. He then built the most powerful franchise for the next few years - this powerhouse has staying power, as their nucleus is young and locked up on long term deals.
Congrats ya cursed him
He’s baaaaaaaaaack! 🙌🏻
And then they won the Cup this year
And then went back to back!
Stevey Y is the epitome of class!
It was wonderful how he left Martin St. Louis off of
Canada’s National Team first list.
Martin St. Louis should be honoured by a stature in Tampa and should be on the executive. However, Steve $2000 Suit MAN COMPLETELY disrespected him.
Martin scored FOUR goals in his final game as Tampa player …
and the rest is history.
Go, Habs, Go !!!
Here after their collapse
Some of you may be wondering "hey what happened to this lightning team? how did the Yzerman regime fare this post season? well boys and girls Its like following up with the kids or convicts years later after the 'Scared Straight' video came out. "We caught up with Steve Yzerman roughly a year after this video came out and you'll be surprised to know he is back in Detroit as he broke up with TB. Tampa Bay began to suffer from a serious playoff exit addiction and player over valuation......here's an update......"
The following '18-'19 season the Tampa Bay Lightning, again under the tutelage of Yzerman and John Cooper, were able to secure the #1 record in the NHL by tying a league-record 62 wins in 82 games, also winning the President's Trophy with the most points in the league.
The 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs began with the #1 Seed Lightning having home ice advantage over the #8 seed Columbus Blue Jackets. Columbus has never won a best-of-7 playoff series in their franchise's short existence. Partly due to the latter reasoning, partly due to the fact that the Lightning had finalists on their roster for the Norris, Hart, Masterson and Adams trophies, respectively and also due to the fact that no other team in the league came close to their impressive play.
While Yzerman watched from a luxury suite in game 1, anticipating his legacy to swell to unimaginable heights by becoming a Stanley Cup winning executive in addition to player, his Lightning proceeded to lose all 4 games in the series and were swept from the postseason by a team that not only won their first series in history but the Lightning became the first team in history to be SWEPT by an 8 seed while winning the President trophy.
Kids: Don't do Drugs and more importantly don't ever underestimate your opponent! Cheers!
You don't mention that TB breezed through the regular season with no adversity, while CBJ fought hard to get into the playoffs, barely getting in as 2nd wild card. They also had the coach from TBs Cup winning 2004 team. They also had StLouis TBs best player in the Playoffs Cup winning year. He also knows how they play, he'sstill good friends with Stamkos) helping coach their power play and other areas. I'm sure all of that combined gave them an edge over TB who took their foot off the gas towards the end of the season. TB also lost Hedman, Stralman, and Callahan to injuries right before Playoffs didn't help either.
can you give us another update please
Jinxed
He has the Midas touch, and absolutely robbed the Rangers with 5 former players now with the Lightning.
Who's here after the Tampa Bay lighting won the stanley cup with Steve yzerman and Steven Stamos
Congrats to the Lightning...
Hope Stevie Y becomes somewhat involved in the Wings but I ultimately hope he spends quality time with his family which sounds like he needs
Hn
Well...3 straight Stanley Cup finals appearance and two Stanley Cups... I say he did a hell of a job! Now he's back in Hockeytown, hopefully he can win us a few cups! SY19
Do you have a supply of Four Lear Clovers ?
Hehe he's coming home to Detroit where he belongs
This aged amazingly. Let's go bolts
Hey, i want to thank tampa bay for Brett Howden & Libor Hajek and we got K'eandre miller with tampa bays 1st round pick that we used to move up a few spots to get him. So y'all really gave us 3 awesome pieces for the future and Namestikov who has been very disappointing for us when it comes to points and scoring but he does do the little things right. So we gave you a freebie with JT miller for Namestikov and then Mac truck for Howden, Hajek & K'eandre Miller. K' Miller was a steal and a half for us late in the 1st round, the kid is a stud and is a two way defensemen with major offensive skill because he switched from forward to defense 2 seasons ago. I'm hoping y'all win the cup this year because i would love for another 1st round draft pick instead of a 2nd round pick. Plus how can i not root for my old team and players? The Rangers South which is half former ranger players from our stanley cups and ECF deep runs from those 5 to 7 years that we we're good for. Good Luck the rest of the way.👏👍
Nice video. Who is watching this after the lightning won the cup?!
Go Bolts ⚡️💙
Very great video man but i think you may have missed how important savard was in those early days, other than the flawless video!
Steve Y is the best GM in the league by far.
Love the Zelda music. I’m a Lightning fan and was like is that Zelda music? Ok this guy is worth a listen to for that reason lol.
He stepped down as gm
Who’s here after Tampa WOn the cup
Steve was great, but unfortunately not a team guy, just a contract employee in Tampa. Detroit will flourish eventually.
Nice touch with the Zelda music.
Post another update fella!! Been a wild run
Awesome video man and hes an amazing GM and they'll win a cup soon
The state tax really helps with those team friendly deals.
You mean not having a state income tax :) GO BOLTS!!!
That's true, but their cornerstone players still took less money to keep the existing team together also. Regardless of no state tax. They took less money so the team would remain together, they are still doing it too. They want a Cup with their teammates!!
Best thing that ever happened to the Lightning...hisa arrival and his departure.
One important thing to note that you missed is that for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, that draft was run by the previous regime's scouting staff (and their history outside of Stamkos and Hedman was... meehhhhh). They were fired after the draft and Al Murray was then hired. So 2011 was really the first Yzerman draft.
Thanks for the points made! You’re very correct on that
Granted Detroit made the playoffs, however they didn't make SC Appearances when Holland was at helm during the inception of Salary Cap. On the other hand, almost year in and year out Bolts were competitive during Yzerman's tenure and made a SC appearance.
So glad he's back in Detroit.
Now or never. Cap hell is coming.
As a Norfolk native I missed those days the Admirals hockey but what hurt more was herring him miss pronounce the city’s name it’s supposed to be pronounced Nor-Fik
Actually your entire country stole the name and butchered the spelling, its Nor-fok like the English county XD
This guy will be missed.
Best GM of all time
Need a update on this
While I certainly appreciate what he did for Tampa, its time for the Captain to come home to the D.
Steve AA-ZEER-MIN
GO BOLTS
great vid man 👍🏽
This is great man
Enjoyed it.
brett connolly wasnt a bad draft..on a full season he's a 20+ goal scorer and now a stanley cup champion.
Awesome video
Tell me about the 2010 draft - where he not a single player he drafted made the nhl
Welcome home, Stevie
Nice to watch this video after lightnings got over this hump
Welcome Home SteveY
2019 was not good, but 2020 for the Bolts, well you know🏆
Annnnnnd how they got swept
Yeah this video didnt age well
Annnnnnd they won the cup
UrinatingTree x Steve Yzerman
Even when he's gone from GM position.
He stepped down as GM today
I heard sadly 😢😢😢😢😢 either way I’m very happy for him and his time in Tampa!
Steve Y coming home to Detroit I believe
happy holidays....hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Slater Koukkouk is such a disappointment. We could have drafted Ceci at least
Is that music Zora's Domain from Ocarina of Time?
Go Bolts!
🌩🌩🌩
nice vid man.
Love how he goes “just to skip over the Stanley sup win.” Like what? Don’t you feel like that’s something you should include? 😂
what software do you use to make and edit your videos... what software do you use for your screen recordings?
Sorry for the late reply. I talk into a microphone and record on a free program called audacity. And i edit my videos on final cut pro but iMovie is a great alternative. If you have more questions or want me to link you the sites to all the stuff i use just let me know!
Let's go Bolts
And you're awesome
im a tampa fan also
All those players would be Red Wings if it wasn’t for Ken Holland. Thanks a lot Ken Holland.
Nice vid I like the rangers
Nice vid
I just made one on Deshaun Watson
I gotta watch that! I'm going to check it out.
