Nice transit! My dad (81 years old now) bought in 1985 a mk2 2.4 york from 1982 and used it for his business.(excavator rental) He still has it now and i have plans to restore it for him . It is a 100 van panelvan. Has no overdrive and will run 125km/h on the speedo no problem. Wonder why yours is so slow. Ideal cruising speed was 100-110km/h. He also towed a big tandem trailer with a one ton heavy draglinebucket sometimes. Pulled it with no problem what so ever. The rear differetial was the weak point on this van. Couldn't stand pulling big trailers or sticking in loose sand and rock forward and back to get out. Yes this van had to work! We had to replace the diff twice. I also replaced all the glowplugs years ago after some strarting issues and after that only at temperatures below -10c it was harder to start. We used two 74ah 680a batteries. One on each side. The van is parked in the shed now fot the last 10 years which is bad for cars. It deserves a proper restauration.. it's not even that bad with rust. In the nineties we bought two vans to gut out from which we still have a lot of parts. I wish my dad had had the 4x4 version. But in all those years i have never ever seen one in real life.

Hello, I have a camper based on the same transit but the biggest one, the 190 without overdrive. I have the same problem with the glow plugs, 3 out of 4 . Did you have to take apart also the fuel injection pump to take away the manifold? once opened the manifold was it difficult to extract the 3 glow plugs?
