    This calculator got me through high school and university. I’ve had one since 2009. I’ve somehow lost it over the years and I picked one up today for old times sake. I’m actually glad that calculators don’t change like phones do each year. It just takes me back to those old days. (:

      @TutorTerrific I've found that by using the table function on my TI-30XS MultiView I can generate the sequence of numbers in the diagonals of Pascal's Triangle.
      Thusly:
      x nCr 0 returns a potentially infinite sequence of 1s.
      x nCr 1 returns a list of the positive integers.
      x nCr 2 returns a list of the triangular numbers.
      x nCr 3 returns a list of the tetrahedral numbers.
      x nCr 4 returns a list of the 5-simplex numbers.
      x nCr 5 returns a list of the 6-simplex numbers.
      Etc.
      This works for all of the diagonals in Pascal's Triangle.
      I only found this a few weeks ago. Is it of any interest? 🤔

    Omg you’re a lifesaver! My professor has a Casio that has the feature of the arrows so you can go back and edit something you’ve entered- as a calc student I need to sometimes just add an extra 0 or a negative to the same problem. I have this Texas instrument one and I simply thought it wasn’t able to do that because i didn’t know I was supposed to press “enter” after pressing the up arrow. This is going to make things so much easier! Thanks a lot!!

    Thanks for the video, wish I found it sooner. Trial and error is a pain. Few quick things I noticed on mine that might make your life easier... When punching in sin 58, no need to close the parentheses, just hit enter. When changing modes, no need to (2nd-quit) the screen, just start your calculations. When doing any problem, no need to scroll to the right of the information you just entered, just hit enter. And (2nd then On) is the (Off) button. The one thing I can't figure out is the contrast. Supposedly 2nd and plus or minus adds and subtracts contrast but I can't see a bit of difference. I assume I'm supposed to hold the 2nd button continuously but nothing.

    • @TutorTerrific
      @TutorTerrific  4 роки тому +1

      I didn’t know there was a contrast feature! I am going to try that out right now.

    • @dannyr403
      @dannyr403 4 роки тому

      @@TutorTerrific I was wrong about not having to close the parentheses in the sin function. The reason I don't have to close it is because I only do the sin function on that first pass. I'll do sin 58, and without closing the parentheses I'll hit enter, then when that answer shows up, I'll multiply it by x and get my answer. If you multiply it by x on the same screen without closing off the parentheses, you'll get the wrong answer. So yes you have to close it if you want to do the full calculation on the first pass. I like to do it in two passes so I can see what the sin answer was before it moves on to the next calculation.

    • @TutorTerrific
      @TutorTerrific  4 роки тому

      I checked, and you’re right, the contrast isn’t affected at all. You came across the reason why I always close the ). Like you said, you have to close them if you want to do another calculation along with a trig evaluation on the same line.

    What does the multi view in the calculators name mean? I have the same one, but I have been wondering what the top window above the main screen does. I apologize if you explained this in the video, I am very busy right now and couldn’t watch it.

    • @TutorTerrific
      @TutorTerrific  4 роки тому +2

      The multiview is reference to the classic print versus math print modes in the mode window. Using math print makes what are you typing look more like what you write on a piece of paper or a whiteboard when writing math expressions. It affects the way fractions and radicals look, it’s actually quite nice. The top window above the main screen is, as far as I can tell, a solar panel that the calculator can run on.

      When you click the math button, Do you have a DMS tab? If so, use the arrow pad to move over to that tab click on it and you will see the degree, minute, and second symbols. What you will do is type a number, and then click onto that menu to get the degree, minute, and second symbol to show up afterward. Once you type your entire angle in DMS this way, Then press enter. What’s going on here is that it’s actually calculating 50 - .10, because 10% is read as .10 in the calculator. This is not happening to the 50 because you’re not placing a percent symbol right after it. Every time you place the percent symbol right after a number, with no space in between, it will divide the previous number by 100. Try calculating 50% - 10%, you should get .4, which is equivalent to 40%

    Studying for my Amateur Extra (ham radio) exam and must calculate the frequency of a resonant circuit. To do so, I must simply calculate (using the 2nd log button) 10 to the -6. Fine. It gives me a decimal answer .000000001. I can work with that. But when calculating 10 to the -12, it gives me 1.00000000 *10 to the -12! In decimal form, this is .000000000001. But even if I enter the decimal as part of the calculation, it still responds with a logarithmic answer. Makes no sense to me why it can’t just give me the long decimal answer.

    • @TutorTerrific
      @TutorTerrific  4 роки тому +1

      Sorry, but I don’t think that’s possible on this calculator. You’re asking to define a variable and then be able to plug different values for that variable into a function at will. You’ll need a calculator like the TI 83 Plus or 84 Plus for this, where you can store particular values for numbers as letters.

    Its not much of use if you cannot focus on the screen content. Math and classic mode are indistinguishable with that far a focus.

    • @TutorTerrific
      @TutorTerrific  4 роки тому +1

      Well, I wouldn’t say they are indistinguishable, but I do understand your complaint about the lack of sharpness in the focus. I used an iPhone 6s to make this video several years ago. The cameras on that phone just do not match up to professional cameras that I can’t afford or even newer iPhone cameras.

    This was helpful. However, it would be infinitely more helpful if you could address how to edit a math function AFTER entering it. I have searched, and so far, NO ONE has addressed this problem on any of these UA-cam videos!!! This would save a ton of time in not having to enter complex formulaic calculations repeatedly when tiny mistakes are made, like forgetting to enter parantheses, or wrong numbers, etc. It looks like your video is dated, so I'm not expecting an answer, just posting this so others might see it!
