Taking my SAT tomorrow and thought I should probably know how to use a calculator! This was super helpful very clear and concise without feeling like too much to take in. Thanks so much!
Thanks so much!!! I got one in an ACT prep class and didn't even know how to do fractions, so this was pretty helpful! I even shared with some friends that received one as well, so hope they'll be able to use theirs.
Just bought one of these with no manual .. I'm no idiot, but honestly, although I can't think of a single use I'll ever have in my daily white trash grind for such a device, I've always wanted one. I predate computers and four banger calcs .. and the handheld power even in 2023 astounds me. I have thoroughly enjoyed following this video and 'playing' with my calc with many pauses. Honestly .. I think this is the most fun I've ever had on UA-cam. Thanks dude!
Great teacher. Well done. That said, why high school kids learn math at this level yet know very little (or none at all) about fixed rate mortgages, treasury bonds, stock investing, cooking fundamentals and homeownership maintenance fundamentals is beyond me.
This needs to change. I will have you know that we homeschool our children, and are teaching them these things at times when they are appropriate ages.
I used to be able to work my Ti-83 but now my face is like: 🥴😳😂. Thank you for helping me to remember how to function with my TI-83 before I take my nursing course.
I’m really gonna buy this in December 2021 because I’m gonna be needing it when I retake Math 125 because I need to remove the F grade and pass it with a C or Better so I don’t end up getting a probation! Will be needing it too when I take Math 241 and Math 260 for Fall 2022 to Spring 2023
@@TutorTerrific what?!? The Casio graphing calculators are so much easier to use in my opinion, but I have to learn how to use this one because one of the students I tutor has this calculator. I feel the the Casio fx 9750gii just has so many more important features
It is best TI-83Plus tutorial on YT! Many thanks for that. It would be nice to see part II for experiences users. Btw the EE shortcut stands for “Enter Exponent” just FYI :) Regards.
So i have not started calculus yet, I am doing advanced functions, would this calculator be helpful for that class or should I stick to my scientific calculator. And I know this is going to sound like a dumb question but what is the point of being able to see a graph and how would that help you on a test?
This is a great calculator for calculus, and it is the one I used all throughout single variable calculus and beyond! You will be analyzing all kinds or properties of functions, including intercepts, intervals of increase/decrease, relative/absolute extrema, critical numbers, discontinuities, limits, slopes of tangent lines, integrals, and much more that this calculator can help you with, only when the graph is created.
My TI-83 Plus has been stuck on Exec Edit New. I have taken the batteries out, I have pressed on every key to make sure that none was stuck, turned it on and off, and basically everything I could have thought about and it still didn't work. It still says "Exec Edit New. Can you please help?
Hello :) how do u turn off this Calculator, I see the off button, I press it but it stays on? Thanks in advance, oh never mind I got it, I remember in your video you said when pressing the yellow 2nd button that will activate everything with yellow attached, thanks
Helpful but it would be better if you explained the reasoning for the keystrokes and also if you said "to insert, a character, hit 2nd, INSERT" instead of " here is another way to change an equation, hit 2nd, DELETE" The first method helps the viewer learn the meaning of the key strokes whereas the second method just forces a person to memorize key strokes.
Thank you for the advice, this is my first calculator tutorial video, so I apologize if I didn’t educate as much as tell. I certainly meant to educate, and it is unfortunate that it did not come across that way.
Hi We just received this exact calculator and out of the package the scroll buttons on the right don’t work to move up-down or left-right . I have a coworker with the same calculator and it has the same problem. I own the TI-84 plus silver edition and the scroll buttons work. Do you have an idea of what could be the problem or is just a defective calculator? Thanks
Hmm, The odds of both your calculators not having functioning scrolling pad buttons seems like it would be very low. I assume you’ve tried to use them in the mode window, is that true?
hello i can't scroll up when im on the main screen to edit my previous answers (using the up arrow) but I can scroll up for other functions (such as being able to navigate in the stats button). Do you know why this is?
On this calculator, that was not programmed as a feature. What do you need to do to retrieve order calculations is press “2nd” and then “entry”. Each time you press those two buttons one after the other, you retrieve an older calculation.
It’s a fairly old calculator that they’re still producing, so they didn’t have a button for that, but you can certainly make that happen yourself. Here is how: (sin(x))^n will find the nth power of sin(x). I know that’s a few extra keystrokes, but that will certainly do the job.
Certainly, you can use this in your physics class. I used this very calculator you see in the video for all of my undergraduate physics classes at University. Understand that this is Not a calculator that solves equations for you. You have to isolate the variable you need to sell for using algebra, and once you do that this calculator is great for calculating large expressions where all the values are known.
The only 10 years old and you’re in algebra? That’s awesome! Be strong and work hard and you’re gonna be taking calculus before you’re even in high school at this rate!
Hello mr how r u ...i have ti -83 calculator ...but i dont know how i can calculate a poler form number i mean real number and angel ...can you help me ..thanks
Are you asking it to do absolute value calculations, like |-7| = 7? If so, then yes. Click the mass button and then tap the number 1 to get this: abs( that is absolute value.
You need to go to the Window menu, which you will find at the top of the buttons on the calculator. Then, you can adjust Xmin, Xmax, Ymin, and Ymax to effectively "crop" the graph itself.
On paper: take your circle equation and solve for y, remembering the plus/minus sign when taking the square root. Graph the top half (the plus version of your answer) for Y1 and the bottom half (the minus version of your answer) for Y2. Then press graph.
Well, yes, but it depends on what kind of geometry you are talking about. If you’re wanting this calculator to be able to tell you if two sides of a triangle are congruent, it won’t help you there, but it can certainly be used for any of the arithmetic operations required by geometry, such as determining if two angles are supplementary.
That’s because multiplication by 1 is the multiplicative identity, no change occurs when multiplying by 1. Change that 1 to a 2 and see what happens then!
And you are expecting the calculator first user to understand all that information in one shot? Your video besides having a whole lot of information to learn is very difficult to see what is the function or the numbers you punched in because the angle of the calculator works only for you. You need to lift the upper side of the calculator so your audience can see what is that you are doing unless l am next to you which is not the case. You need to go slowly and hold the calculator in your hands so we can have a better view of what you are doing and this way your hand won't be on the way between what you do and what we can see. It is the first time l am watching a video like this and also the first time using this type of calculator. Good try!!
I appreciate the feedback. I’m not expecting someone to learn all this in the first try, I’m expecting you to pause and rewind sections of the video quite often. Also, I have definitely improved my filming in my most recent calculator video, which is on the TI 84 Plus. I know it would’ve been much better with natural sunlight, but I had to film this when my kids were asleep, I have very little ones in our house. If I am able to make it big on UA-cam, I will definitely be spending money on proper camera equipment, because now I just use my iPhone 6s.
Could I get some help please? I hope you are familiar with the Collatz Conjecture. [Pick a number ~ if it is odd, then [*3, +1]. If it is even, then [Divide by 2]. Keep doing this. You will eventually reach a 4-2-1 loop.] Now, picture a chart with 0-100 on the bottom & 0-100 on the left side. The bottom row will be for the starting number. The left side will be for the highest number reached before dropping to the 4-2-1 Loop for that starting number. Can such a program be written?
A program like this could be written easily, and it is really cool idea! Do you really need a program? If you just want to see the graph for your particular domain and range, might be easier to do it by hand. Any odd output over 33 would be off your grid in the first step, So you may want to stop at 33 on the horizontal axis.
@@TutorTerrific I picked a random number the first time I heard about it. Unfortunately, I chose 27. I went through more than 100 terms before finally ending up in the 4-2-1- Loop.
