I forage for 11 rabbits and 10 guinea pigs so they can eat what nature provides. You can imagine the amount of wild edible I bring home. I bring home double and dry half for winter months. THIS RACK is the perfect solution to stop my husband moaning about forage all around the house. Will be making 4 of them. Thankyou for generously sharing your creation. God bless you.
@@TheProvidentPrepper i feed and dry, dandelion, herb robert, willow herb, herb bennet, blackberry leaves, yarrow, geraniums, calandula, ribwort plantain, broad leaf plantain, all willow tree leaves, apple leaves, ash tree leaves, hazel leaves, vetch, rose leaves. Plus lots morew i cant think of off the top of my head. I have not had to buy any veg for the animals from october to march. I still give the the egg cup of pellets but they dont really need them, they just love them lol..
@@nightfallhomestead670 yes you can dry them for winter. Things that i dried last april i have just fed the last of it this week. I just make sure it is 100% dried before i store it in bags. Its amazing not having to buy vegetables when they are there most expensive through winter. and my rabbits and guinea pigs will choose forage over veg any day. Bramble leaves are also a life saver for getting through gut stasis, which i have access to the leaves all year round. It has saved 2 of my rabbits.
Great stuff! I love your drying rack! I've got one of those big Cabala's dehydrators and this would be a fantastic way to get more use out of the 25 wire racks! I love harvesting and drying wild herbs. They are fun because you don't have to do anything at all and you get all kinds of beneficial products! Things like plantain, dandelion, heal-all, wild roses, chaga, and on and on. My favorite out of my garden.... fever few or chives... hard to pick really! I'm not nearly as versed in medicinal herbs but love learning about wild sourced remedies and foods. I'd love to learn more about your use of herbs! Thank you for sharing your wisdom!
Ma'am could you please help? I watched a video of a person that picked herbs and then just hung them to dry. Aren't all of the herbs to atleast be rinsed, or soaked in water to get off outdoor whatever, meaning, bugs, bird poop, ect. And possibly washed? Then spred out, or hung to dry? Because you wound not clean them afterwards.
Great video & useful information! I am uploading a victory garden update video tomorrow that may (hopefully) put me from "I like fresh tomatoes" gardener level to, "I can now start preserving" level gardener! :)
My chives aren't doing well this year, dunno why, hmmmm. My absolute fave is lavender, which is doing well. The bees like it too! I keep trying with catnip, but the yard cats have figured out that I grow nip so its usually a lost cause. The cats are apparently too stoned to discourage the birds, which ate my elderberries, grrrrr. Is it too late to set another batch?
Kylene. You guys are doing a great job but - if you want to shift up Two gears may I suggest you investigate Biodynamic rhythms? You mention about picking 'erbs in the morning. All very well and good but, the day you pick leaves, roots and flowers on has a highly successful infuence on, both how they store and, much much more importantly, the energy they retain. Good luck from a small island across the pond. BTW: Rudolf Steiner is THE Visionary to change both your lives, and of those who follow you. Be blessed
I’m curious where you live? I ask because I’m not sure this would work for me due to humidity. I do use an electric dehydrator but would love to find a non-electric alternative, and this looks great! Thanks!
Question: If you are at a party and are wondering who the engineer is, how do you find out? Answer: Not to worry, he will tell you! We get it, you're an engineer...
Freezer Update - Awhile back I commented that we got lucky and were soon going to be getting a Freezer. We order it and paid for it on 05/15/2020 and Lowes said it was expected to arrive on 05/25/2020, then later Lowes calls and say it will arrive 07/02/2020. I checked on the order status and although I have an email receipt, Lowes 800 told me they don't have an order under my name. I called the local store and they said they were notified on the 6/24/2020 that my freezer was Out of Stock, but they have not refunded my money. Looks like I'm getting nothing and will have to get them to refund my money. Hopefully, our current freezer will continue to work for awhile. That's Life people so don't let things like this get you down. Best to All.
A beautiful video and design. Thank you.

I do the same. We are new to rabbits and was curious if I could dry and save them for during the winter! Thank you for this comment!

Thank you for sharing I learned
I dry my herbs and carrot in my car, warm days. It needs two days of sun. Its amazing
Oh wow! Interesting, has that always worked for you?
@@t.c87 Yes! I do it when there is a couple of sunny days, in forecast
Thanks for the great video. May I know what is your indicator to know when the herbs is already done drying?

Where can I buy comfrey from? I can’t find it no where in my city.
great idea.. will make one this week.. will save time . thanks for the GREAT INFO
This is an awesome idea. Do you think it will work with store bought cilantro?
Thanks for all your information..I'm working on it as I learn from you. God bless you.
I am new to this but appreciate your knowledge and sharing great ideas!!!
What a wonderful idea! Thank you.
Simply genius 💕
Great video as always!❤️
Can you dry zucchini’s, vegetables, tomatoes on this air dryer?
No. You can do greens and herbs but that's about it.
I a major question is How dry do they get, dry enough to be crumbly and crisp? Dry enough to be turned into powder or flakes?
I love chives too! Garlic & Regular!

It depends on growing environment. I harvest mine in the morning and usually rinse them off. I'm pretty picky about that.
@TheProvidentPrepper do you ever rinse the flower buds and heads as well? Do you ever rinse with anything other than water? Thanks for response

I like sage and rosemary
What brand of calcium hypochlorite do you use for disinfecting water drinking water?

You could do them in the attic, if you have one, it's not know to be very humid up there
Why can’t we put herbs under the direct sun to dry?
I think we have too much humidity to air dry.
