Loving the coastal adventure, I can trace a line now all the way from Prestatyn to the tip of the Llyn Peninsula where I've run. Today was a challenging stretch 9.6 miles long and with more than 2000ft of ascent in it. I started from Porthor (Whistling Sands) which is a stunning beach for a visit, there used to be a quarry here where they mined Jasper but now it's just a peaceful ruggedly beautiful stretch of coastline. We follow the Wales Coast path winding it way to the most westerly point of North Wales at the end of the Llyn Peninsula climbing Mynydd Mawr where on a clear day you can see all the way to the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland. The path then follows along the coast passing Porth Meudwy before dropping down to the village of Aberdaron.
    Getting There
I was lucky to have someone to drop me off and pick me up however by road its only 2.6 miles from Porthor to Aberdaron so you could make a circular or perhaps drop off a bike at the end point. You could also come by bus, there is a regular bus from Pwllheli to Aberdaron so you could hop off that and head down to Porthor from the main road (about 2 miles) there is also a bus that runs from Pwllheli that stops at Porthor and Mynydd Mawr but it only runs a couple of times a day.
A map and directions to parking is available at my website.

Simon, I'm afraid someone gave you a bum steer on Mynydd Mawr. The one so-called Elephant Mountain in English is in Snowdonia overlooking Llyn Cwellyn near Rhyd Ddu. Mynydd Mawr near Aberdaron overlooks Bardsey Island. Great film again, Sir. Thank you.
